And how's WW going? I have put on weight

deckthehallswithboughsofholly · 28/11/2007 22:40

Oh I gave up on WW, I got too hungry! I think I am gonna just have to live with being fat, I am too fond of cheese!

The wine tasting sounds good annobal, congrats for having a RL!

Foxy, he did it quite willingly. I think he likes the fact that he has a secret from me! It gives him a sense of power!

just got some news that one of my nephews is in hospital . These are BIL and SILs twins. appareantly DT2 was poorly earlier in the week with nasty chest infection and spet the afternoon in A&E, but is on the mend now. DT1 was poorly at the same time, but just hasn't improved, and has been listless and floppy so they took him in last night. they've ruled out pnuemonia, but his blood tests are showing that he is fighting some sort of bacterial infection, so they have done a lumbar puncture. They're also concerned (as a side issue) about his head being a bit flat at theback so are sending him for skull x-rays.

the poor wee thing...he's only 15 weeks old fingers crossed they get to the bottom of it soon and he gets better quickly.

foxythesnowman · 28/11/2007 22:43

poor little thing. hope he's ok

deckthehallswithboughsofholly · 28/11/2007 22:45

Awwww daisy, how awful, the poor thing. Hope he gets better soon.

Night all, peace and love xxx

Poor littl guy
Hope he shows some improvement soon, must be so worrying

DaisyNightingale · 28/11/2007 22:48

and the DTs big sis is vomming all over hte place as well, just to add the icing on the cake

DS had his first proper play date from school tonight, bess him . He went to another boy's house for tea, and was really excited about it all day. Apparently it's all they could talk about in school, and all the other boys were wanting to come too. I saw one of the other mums in our local corner shop and she said her DS was asking when he could have my DS over for tea.....looks this could be the start of a hectic social life for MRR.....and I'll be having a succession of boily boys traipsing all over the place and making this place even more untidy!

DaisyNightingale · 28/11/2007 22:59

aaaaaarrrrrrrggggghhhhhhh

Sign the petition please ladies. Not many ishoos get me really riled, but ear piercing on little kids is definately one that does.

Looking forward to getting my Secret Santa email

Signed the petition - despite getting mightily p'd off that I seemed to be following link after link and not getting anywhere! I realise that my patience is probably a bit thin on the ground this morning as a result of sleep deprivation (woke at 12.30 (FFS!), 3.00, 5.30 and finally at 6.45) but when I followed Daisy's link, why couldn't that thread have linked straight to the petition site instead of to another thread that linked to the petition site, especially as I then had to scroll up and down that thread to look for the necessary link? Blinkin' 'eck, talk about NOT making it easy for people. (None of that was a complaint at you Daisy but I feel the need to vent!)

deckthehallswithboughsofholly · 29/11/2007 09:18

I shall sign that when I get back from toddler group. Ear piercing on small people is disgusting and cruel. If you stabbed your dc with a needle you'd be prosecuted, what is the difference between that and ear piercing? I had mine done when I was 10 and I think that is the youngest that it should be done. My mum made it clear to me that it would hurt when it was done and for a few weeks afterwards and that I would have to clean and look after them myself. If I was any younger I don't think I would have been able to understand that. It just makes me so sad when I walk past Claire's Accessories and you seee little babies sat on their mums' laps screaming with pain. How can they possibly understand that that amount of pain is being inflicted on them to make them look "pretty"?

Sorry, I feel very strongly about this!

Bloody chavs!

Heels on the under 12s should be banned too! As should Bratz! No little girl should look like a hooker or have dolls that look like hookers!

Anything else? No I think my rant is over!

My dp did some secret santa emails last night, but not all. He'll do the rest of them today, so you should all get them by this evening.

A bit late for jammy...but direct link to petition

I'm dying my hair this morning....trying to get back to my natural colour...except I can't remember when i put the colourant in as I forgot to take a note of the time. Ah well.

Sputnik · 29/11/2007 09:56

I always get annoyed watchng our Boogie Beebies dvd, and there is a little girl in heels and her body is all distorted, I just think, why? I am sounding like my mum, she was a primary school teacher and inappropriate clothing on children is one of her bugbears.

OMG I had to get out of bed and make my own coffee this morning. Can I survive another 8 mornings of that?

Am happy this morning though as I wwent to see my accountant (see the lengths I am already going to for adult conversation in RL?) an he wants me to do a website for the town band in liu of payment for his services. It's good as I'm skint and was thinking I should start getting back into work a bit.

DaisyNightingale · 29/11/2007 10:02

i agree sputnik...I didn't have my forst pair of heel till I was 16, got my ears pierced when 14 (but only cos 16 year old sis was getting hers done and I kicked up a stink) and we weren't allowed make-up till 16 either.

DH says that DD can do all of that when she is 38

ooooh work, adult conversations....I'm so jealous!

Sputnik · 29/11/2007 10:08

I had my first and last pair of heels at 16 (patent leather ankle boots). I just can't walk in them, I am a twisted ankle waiting to happen. Maybe I should've got in some practise when I was younger.

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 29/11/2007 10:28

i had my 1st and last heels at 19 - 4 inch stilettos to go to a ball. Somehow I danced the night away in them, but haven't worn heels since that night. Like Sputnik I would be a sprained or broken ankle in waiting. A little wedged heel on my boots this year is as daring as I get, and only then because the pushchair gives me something to hold onto (I have worn then solo, but did feel a liittle unsure)

HaveYourselfaNortyLittleXmas · 29/11/2007 10:30

Morning....

God I can't wear heels any more ....

Me and DD have a D&V bug....its GRIM in this house I can tell you .....seems like yesterday morning when I was so sick was probably the beginning of it. Luckily she has got a much milder version than me and is taking feeds happily....must be bad as DH asked me if he should take the day off ....I can call him if I need to....

Means DD won't be going to nursery today for lunch....hopefully Monday...

Looking forward to pics of your new haircut and colour Daisy!

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 29/11/2007 11:03

Hugs Norty, don't envy you that bug at all.

JOB Opportunity anyone???

justbeme · 29/11/2007 14:57

Afternoon -
Can I have a rant??
its about DD1 and my ex again -
this time its that she wants a new computer for Xmas - the one shes after is about £380. She told me that she was getting it whatever as her Dad said if I wouldnt pay then he'd get it for her!
I normally spend about £80 on her for Xmas, so last night on the phone I said that I would be prepared to pay £150, BUT on the proviso that this was her Xmas and birthday combined and she'd get not much more. Well she got all angry and said that how was her Dad suppposed to find the difference AND pay for her Spanish holiday? Neither he or her understand that im only getting SMP and soon NOTHING. When I was talkin to her, he was in the background making squeaking noises saying that im tight. and now ive got 2 rude texts off him. so yet again im the bad Mum . I havent a clue what else to get her for Xmas, and basically im being told that £150 isnt good enough. (I was going to take it out my long term savings).
Advice good or bad pls???

HellHathNoFury · 29/11/2007 15:00

STUPID FUCKING ARSEHOLE WANKERS

Contract termination brought forward to tomorrow

Because a certain SOMEONE is a DIP SHIT that can't type MONTHS properly

justbeme · 29/11/2007 15:06

Oh dear wear not having good afternoons are we?
Is this your old or new job?

foxythesnowman · 29/11/2007 15:10

Thats pretty awful JBM. Sounds to me as you are being the responsible parent a) not spoiling her b) not being pressured into it and c) not being played off against xp.
Let him get it. Let him pay for the holiday.

Call his bluff. You are a great mum who cares and loves your DDs. You'll find a way of making her Christmas lovely without being bullied into it. She's young, she'll learn and needs to be taught about being gracious and grateful. He isn't and isn't being a good role model nor teaching her value of things. IMHO.

Hope that's not harsh JBM. Its a very sensitive issue I'm sure - and one I've no experience of so largely talking from my arse region as per usual

Fury, WTF???

HaveYourselfaNortyLittleXmas · 29/11/2007 15:15

Oh JBM and Fury

JBM - no experience or advice I'm afraid but from what I've seen in my own family and friends in your situation - whatever you do or give will never be enough .....children of that age are often materialistic (especially when being egged on by a point-scoring father) and it seems to me that kids eventually realise and understand as they grow up....but not before making you feel crap. In your position I would hope to be strong enough to be able to stick to my guns...what you are suggesting sounds pretty fair to me!

Fury you're well off out of it and get an extra week with DS - stupid gits, but hey....after tomorrow it doesn't matter any more....

I am sick (literally today ) of my fucking kitchen being in the dining room....looks like it'll be Saturday now before its finished!
