Daisy, I'm really sorry about your mum. It must be such a sad time for you, and now wonder you are finding it hard with the DCs and Christmas. I found myself telling DD to shut up too this morning. It's not her fault, but she did everything possible to make it difficult for me to get ready this morning.

I had a lovely time with Jammy! We bummed around the outlet village buying dead cheap stuff for the DDs! Can't wait for the next meet up.

MHC what were you doing in Gloucester - you should have said! That's not far from me! What's your bf counsellor training like? How will you put it into practice? Will it be voluntary or is there any way you can convert it into a career?

WRT Xmas decs in our house we never put them up ourselves. We just woke up one morning and would be surprised that my mum had done it overnight! Unorthodox but that was our tradition. And we never had prezzies under the tree till Xmas morning so we'd get up an it would have gone from no prezzies to a huge pile! And until I was 21 my mum still did a treasure hunt with our birthday presents

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 22/11/2007 20:22

Happy Birthday Norty, sorry I forget to say so earlier.

What did we do? Um, had drinks and cake (well we did the LOs had lovely, lovely breast milk of course), did a little shopping, had some lunch, fed the LOs again, and did a bit more shopping. Fitting in nappy changes as and when required. So nothing too demanding, just a little light shopping and chatting and refreshments. And getting grumpy at an old man who told my DD to cheer up The cheek of it!

DaisyNightingale · 22/11/2007 20:24

DD was just very very tired. I put her in her jammies, fed her and she has been in bed by 6:30....hurrah, but she'll probably be up in the middle of the night now.

It meant that I could spend some time with DS and we actually managed a story tonight so he is a much happier bunny than usually.

jbm...not a bad mummy at all. I did this a bit with DD, then started giving her pureed stuff, now she wants to be hand fed everything. she had hold of some brocolli today but it seemed that throwing it on the floor was a much funnier game!

I think if anyone is going to do BLW, they should be prepared for not getting very much in the way of actual food into their LOs for some time!!

Off to amazon to look for some christmas inspiration!

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 22/11/2007 20:27

Hi again Bumper! Glad you had a good day.

Re decorations going up, as a child we always put them up the Sunday before Xmas, after Sunday School. It was a real family afternoon. But my Dad tells me that when he was a child the decorations went up on Xmas Eve, after the children were in bed, so it looked like Santa had done it. His parents also did all the food shopping at 6pm on Christmas Eve, as the market was closing, to get everything cheap, fruit, nuts, veg etc (Not sure if they left the bird that late or not). Sounds like my nan must have really had her work cut out that night.

DaisyNightingale · 22/11/2007 20:36

oh, happy birthday norty...I missed that earlier

just ordered a whole heap of books on amazon that I'd seen in a publisher's catalogue, at up to less than half the publisher's price and infinately cheaper postage too

my credit card is taking a right old pounding this evening! I better write down what I've ordered for who though or I'll get myself in a mucking fuddle and someone will have lots of presents and others nothing at all!

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 22/11/2007 20:36

When we got home this afternoon DD had a huge feed and then 10 mins later demanded some more! Anyone would think I hadn't fed her all day. As we often do, she had a spell with nappy off, lying on the changing mat on the floor later, and I sat talking to her, asking her if she'd enjoyed her day out. As I talked about the things we'd done and seen, she giggled and giggled, as if she'd had the best day out ever Unfortunately by the time DH got home she'd had her tea and was worn out, and when we put her in the bath she instantly started howling. Nothing would console her until she was in her jammies and having a last feed. I'm hoping that 4 BFs (plus some butternut squash) between 3.45 and 7.00 will have filled her tummy so she'll sleep a bit later tonight, don't fancy another 1.30 waking.

Hey all - DH out tonight, children in bed PHEW finally a bit of me time aaaand relax. Good to hear everyone has had good meet-ups.

I keep meaning to crash a south london one, but can't do wednesdays, and don't to too well leaving my comfort zone of Brixton at the moment. DD1's such a wanderer that it's easier just to go to places I know she's fairly safe / contained most of the time. She did make me laugh today. DD2 had just dropped off when she came trooping into the bedroom. I told her to shhhh as DD2 was sleeping and she replied 'I can't see and Zeds coming from her Mummy?'.

BadZelda · 22/11/2007 21:01

We've only had the odd tree up at Christmas due to going to DH's / my folks. That idea of buying/making one new decoration every year sounds lovely though - might start this year.

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 22/11/2007 21:16

Even if we are away for Christmas itself, we have a tree up at home, though might adjust the date of putting it up slightly. Wouldn't seem right otherwise, but I can see that no everyone would bother.

Sputnik · 22/11/2007 21:52

We put up a tree for the first time last year, for dd's benefit. Always go to UK for xmas and anyway it seemed pointless for just us 2. The whole thing has more meaning with kids.

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 23/11/2007 08:49

Busy, busy morning ahead. Going to a music & singing thing at 10, and also got to finish packing ready to leave to go to my parents when DH gets home from work at lunchtime. So no time for MN, and no internet at my parents either, so see you all Sunday night, or Monday.

trace2 · 23/11/2007 09:42

hi everyone ill catch up later, but i need to know what am getting for secet santa, is it for mum or babes and how much do i spend

deckthehallswithboughsofholly · 23/11/2007 10:21

Hi trace, I'm sorting out the secret santa now. You will get the name of the person to buy for on monday. I'm going to email some people who haven't been around for a while and see if they want to join in and I'll give them til monday to get back to me.

The gift can be for mum or baby or both and the suggested spend is £10, though you can spend more if you want.

Hope you are well and chloe is ok.

Hi everyone. ds has a cold and has lost his voice. Poor little mite - he's really sorry for himself

Right, off to catch up.

deckthehallswithboughsofholly · 23/11/2007 11:38

Poor ds annobal, hope he is better soon.

Right, I think I have got secret santa pretty much sorted.

I have emailed those of you who I don't have addresses for, if you could get them to me asap that would be great.

I have also emailed catkin, mytwocents, doggus, dkma and lilkel to see how they are and if they want to join in.

Phew, that's enough of being organised today, I need a sit down!

PS can someone send me seansgirl's email or email her for me? The address I have for her isn't working and keeps bouncing back.

OP posts:
annobalthebignosereindeer · 23/11/2007 11:52

Wow - well done Holly. I have a pile of paperwork on the lounge room floor that needs sorting - fancy a job??

I have Seansgirl's mobile so I'll text her...

DaisyNightingale · 23/11/2007 11:53

good nearly afternoon

holly, I've got SGs mobile so I'll ping her a text message.

ria can be contacted via facebook; she has no e-mail at the moment.

I'm going to have to get rid of all my lovely nappies
DDs bum has been clear all the time I've been away and using despicables, but after three cloth nappies yesterday she is red raw again. This in spite of the last load being washed once with powder and then three washes without. Not exactly the environmentally friendly approach I was looking for.

so, if anyone is in the market for some lovely almost brand spanking new nappies and wraps I'll give you first dibs. There are some unisex and some lovely girly colours and prints and I need to sort out what I've got and how much I think they are worth. It's heartbreaking, some have only been worn three or four times

DaisyNightingale · 23/11/2007 11:55

oh and there are some fuzzibunz and boosters that annobal gave me that I will pass on to whoever wants them....toddler sizes in white and blue....holly?

annobalthebignosereindeer · 23/11/2007 11:59

Daisy, have just texted SG. Poor DD. Moltex are quite good and i put them in my compost - you just need to rip the tab off.

foxythesnowman · 23/11/2007 12:02

Hello everyone.

Being productive here too. Have put new pics on FB, emailed you all, downloaded my pics, and played with DD!. Oh yes, Fifi puzzles, fairy snap - I am proper Mommy today. (as opposed to my slack self who lets her watch far too much Peppa Pig!).

Am about to tackle DPs MP3 player and work out how the hell that works.

And go shopping for tonights pj party snacks (Peter Pan tonight).

annobalthebignosereindeer · 23/11/2007 12:12

All this talk of being productive, am going to have to go for a lie down . Having serious motivational problems here today...

deckthehallswithboughsofholly · 23/11/2007 12:13

I have just put away the huge mountain of laundry on our bedroom floor...now to start on the one on the dining room table! I am feeling smug and all housewifey...dd has been watching playhouse disney all morning though ! Oh well, you can't do everything!

Thanks for texting sg for me.

Great pics of little E foxy! I love that outfit, it is sooo cool!

Daisy, how ! Thanks for the offer of the fuzzis, but I have got some and I don't really like them. It must be horrid to have to get rid of your fluff! I feel for you!
