HaveYourselfaNortyLittleXmas · 22/11/2007 09:30

Morning

Oh poor DS Andie...hope e feels better soon and no-one else gets it

My new tumble dryer comes today ...strange how I can get excited about a tumble dryer isn't it?

Elsbells · 22/11/2007 09:39

Morning all....seems like the colds/flu are starting to do their rounds. DD is a bit coldy and not having much bottle or food. I just keep reminding myself how I don't like to eat much myself when I am ill (the only time I don't gorge really) .

If you girls have an odd number I'll gladly join your secret santa - if not don't worry as I know I am still a newbie here.

Anyhow I am going to attempt to venture out as DS is getting a bit stir crazy and need him to burn energy.

LMN I got excited about buying a new blender so totally understand how you feel. Appliances are like my new toys as a new SAHM.

Have a good day everyone.

andiemisletoe · 22/11/2007 10:36

know exactly what you mean ladies am currently debating which steamer to buy how sad are we

foxythesnowman · 22/11/2007 11:00

Morning!

I have one of those 3 tier Tefal steamers. Its in the cupboard next to the juicer, the sandwich toaster, the George forman grill ....

How's this for a lovely Christmas tradition - I just got my copy of "Batteries not Included" booklet from the Children's Society:

Every Xmas Eve we go out and the kids buy a new tree decoration. Each one is theirs to add to the tree. After Xmas it lives in their special Xmas box, the idea being that when they leave home they have their own decorations for their first Xmas tree and that, wherever they are, it will remind them of home".

Isn't that lovely?

I think the thing I love most about this time of year is making our own traditions, as well as incorporating DPs and my own ones too.

Ohh, I'm coming over all sentimental

andiemisletoe · 22/11/2007 11:40

foxy know what you mean about xmas my ds always puts the baby jesus in the crib on xmas eve and when he does it a tear always comes into my eye I cannot wait for xmas this year when he will have his little brother as well

ooh I feel all teary now just thinking about it

Sputnik · 22/11/2007 12:45

That's a really nice idea with the decorations. I am very nostalgic about my mum's decorations, she has 35 year old tinsel Iwon't allow her to chuck out. Modern tinsel is just not the same.

foxythesnowman · 22/11/2007 12:54

Awww, I can't wait til Christmas.

The build up official starts on 2nd Dec when my lo's will find an invite from Santa on the doormat. On the 4th we go to Lapland UK (am quivering with excitement just thinking about it), then on the 8th we're getting the Xmas tree ....

fa-la-la-la-la-lalalala

andiemisletoe · 22/11/2007 13:36

lapland uk sounds great foxy where is it?
we are off to the xmas market in brussels on the 20th dec for 2 nights
we buy a decoration when we go on holiday so we have ones from all over I really hope my dcs will want them
we are turning into the christmas thread
well vomiting seems to have stopped here (fingers crossed) but ds1 will need to stay off school tomorrow as well am bit dissapointed as it is my bday tomorrow and dh and I were going out tonight but never mind the joys of being a mum

Sputnik · 22/11/2007 13:43

Joys indeed. A couple of years ago DD spent the night before my birthday throwing up. It was one time I really did regret co-sleeping . Hope your DS recovers soon.

DaisyNightingale · 22/11/2007 13:59

a quick hello....I've been catching up with some friends this morning and the day has flown by. gave DD some brocolli and carrot on her tray at lunchtime....once she realised they for picking up, she had a bit of a suck and then they were straight on the floor so much for home cooked food!

I love that idea about th Christmas decorations, I've always gone for colour co-ordinated decorations as I remember our tree at home and some of the mismatched home made stuff on it.....now I have kids of my own I realise that the home made "tat" was our treasured works of art that my folks couldn't bear to part with

i haven't done ANY christmas shopping yet, whereas usually it's all done by this time. I just can't get in the mood for it this year, but need to get my finger out for the DSs. I think I'll do some heavy duty internet shopping tonight. Have told all my family that we are just giving for the kids this year, with a bottle of wine or port for the adults to share (although not really appropriate for my alcoholic SIL ).

talking of which...need to get wine before the school run

I disappeared....had to do the booze school run

your upcoming trip sounds fab mhc....can I stowaway in the boot of your bongo fendee? pretty please????

hairy trucker meet up was fab. derlor is lovely and her DD2 a real wee cutie. We're hoping to meet up again at christmas if you fancy it; maybe at Almond Valley farm to avoid busy shops (although McArthur Glen was surprisingly quiet for this time of year)...or I can come and meet you in St Andrews or at the deer centre since we'll be practically neighbours

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 22/11/2007 16:49

Hi all. Good to have you back Daisy. Appreciate it must have been really hard to leave your mum, but glad you had a good time with her. Cat looks cute btw

Back from meeting the lovely Bumper. Had a great day (thanks Bumper!). Love reading about xmas decorations. I love the ones my parents have, they are glass ones that Dad says were on his parents' tree when he was a boy (he's now 73). They are so pretty and I hope to inherit them some day, especially the little bird and the trumpet that still toots if you blow through it.

DaisyNightingale · 22/11/2007 17:52

glad you had a nice day jammy. we had lots of lovely glass ones when i was little, but there was always one less every year.

we found boxes of glasss ones when we moved in here...probably circa 60s. Not sure if i like them or not, or even if we kept them. we could maybe car boot them i suppose.

dd has been unbearable this afternoon. she makes this awful groaning whinge when she isn't getting her own way or entertained to her liking. It drives me mad. I shouted "just shut up" at her earlier ...and she is so sleepy she is rubbing her eyes.

off to get her and then ds in bed.
