Here you go Eli!

I almost put 'your clothespegs' on the end there. Ds loves clothespegs. Came home from Rainbows the other day and dp had made a deal with ds. He could play with the clothespegs as long as he did it in his playpen and let dp make dinner.

Hello! Am taking DS to doctors this afternoon, probably for AB, as so mucusy 9sp??) that has taken to vomiting up any food we manage to get into him. Does anyone have any suggestions for bland things that might stay down? I know dairy products can be vomit-inducing at times like these!

Indith · 30/11/2007 14:35

Thanks for the hugs

Dp back tonight!

Ds was at Dr this morning, still not eating and nappies getting drier and drier

Just a sore throat though, all swollen but Dr doesn't think it is bacterial so just keep plodding along.

Still teething too.

Gloria I would just let him graze on what he wants as and when. When under the weather ds works his way through the organix finger foods range

Thanks Indith, I know DS loves those things but I feel like a bad mum when all he eats are puffs!

Elibean · 30/11/2007 14:40

((poorly LOs)) Gloria, dd just had a week of mucousy/coldy then vomiting everything...she had a D&V bug, it turned out. She kept down pretty much nothing but (some) water, and a bit of milk, for 48 hours then started to manage milk again. Its scary, but what really helped was to give her diarolyte solutions little and often - their bodies absorb the water better that way, so they don't dehydrate. As for foods....supposedly, bread, bananas, apple and rice (BRAT diet) but in reality, dd only wanted grapes, tomatoes, and cucumber: just what she shouldn't have had with the runs

Elibean · 30/11/2007 14:41

Oops, pressed post before I meant to! Wanted to add, would also let them eat whatever they want to when ill...not a bad mum

And I hope both of your babes are better soon xx

FrostyGlassSlipper · 30/11/2007 14:54

swear by bananas, rice, apples, toast (brat) when sick.

Indith · 30/11/2007 15:00

I do too Gloria but at the end of the day its not like i let him trough the baby version of giant watsits all the time and if that what makes him happy so be it.

Not that those tempt him at the moment.

and crisps.

babypowder · 30/11/2007 22:42

Gloria, puffs are A Good Thing when they're under the weather. If they go down and stay down, then they're doing some good!

BRAT is my standby as well. Apple puree is such fantastic comfort food, and spread on rice cakes is just what the doctor ordered.

Being at work is really tough at the moment. We're going through (another) massive restructure, and everyone is really down. Meanwhile, I show up, full of the energy borne by not being in the office for a whole year, and that must really p*ss everyone off. Not to mention that (whisper it) work is much easier than being a SAHM - not as rewarding, obviously, but much easier - so I tend to get frustrated with people who want to moan and work at half speed. I'm sure I'll be re-institutionalised soon

Hope all the poorly ones feel better soon.

babypowder · 30/11/2007 22:43

BTW, read a really sweet article in the Guardian today about Mumsnet that absolutely summed it up for me. I would have been completely lost without you lot

Gloria42 · 01/12/2007 11:19

Bad night in the Gloria house .
After doc confirmed cold had moved slightly into chest and gave us ABs, DS ate a little dinner then vomited up his entire bedtime bottle. Wouldn't settle cos was hungry then drank another full one.
Slept until 10-ish then woke every 2 hours after that. When wouldn't settle after an hour of cuddling at 5.30 we took him into our bed where he slept for a while. He woke up all happy cos mum and dad were there, we're like half-shut knives!

We were supposed to be going out tonight and DS was to stay with my DPs. Don't know what to do. Would feel terrible leaving him, and terrible if DPs were up all night. But have been really looking forward to this night. Bad mummy for even thinking about going out

magnolia74 · 01/12/2007 11:24

Sorry ladies, been an awful 2 weeks, not really up to posting much at the moment Happy Birthday to the babies who are now 1
Ben was 1 yesterday and had a lovely day x

Will post when things are on the up x

FrostyGlassSlipper · 01/12/2007 11:36

Happy Birthday for yesterday Baby Magnolia

I've had a very bad week and then period started last night which explains it. Seem to be beseiged with terrible PMT

Elibean · 01/12/2007 13:29

Poor LO, Gloria - and poor you, faced with sleepless nights and tough decisions! I usually find those get clearer nearer the time - ds might be feeling better by then, with the ABs, though waking every 2 hours is always a hazard with babies, well or not IME

Happy Birthday Ben!

Re Dad: finally - finally, after two days and an email from me - he let me know that things weren't too bad. They think the cancer is still contained, and will do scans in a couple of weeks (when he's back from Paris ) then decide on treatment. He sounds happier. Thanks so much all of you, esp BP, for the support!

Re hormones: amazing how such teeny things can have soo much effect, eh? Sympathy and empathy to those affected. I had a horrible sight-gone migraine last night (partly down to stress followed by relief of getting Dad's email) which I am sure is mostly down to hormones. I had them a year after dd1 was born too - suspect its my perimenopausal body trying to gear up again and, quite probably, failing

BP, watch out or they may promote you and make you indispensible

babypowder · 01/12/2007 13:40

Eli, so glad its good news about your dad! How awful that such news is enough to trigger a migraine. Vile, nasty, evil things they are. Hope today is better for you.

Happy birthday for yesterday, Baby Mags. And {{{Magnolia}}}

FrostyGlassSlipper · 01/12/2007 13:41

Glad the news about your Dad sounds positive Eli x

SantasUnderGodzillasBumcheek · 01/12/2007 13:44

Gah...what's going on? I have no idea what's going on with you all, except the good news about eli's dad!

Won't bring you down with my problems then
Getting excited about Christmas...there, i admitted it! The main prezzies dd3 is going to like are the books i suspect - she is a bookmonster!

Indith · 01/12/2007 17:27

Good news Eli, glad things are looking positive.

Gloria I hope that the ABs are having an effect and that things are on the up!

Ds is improving, he actually ate today which is always a good thing and is currently climbing on his daddy and babbling away

Take care Magnolia.

indith and gloria - sending healthy baby vibes

sorry for the bfn indith.

AQ have you tested?

Happy Birthday, Ben! Hope this week is better for you magnolia.

And me? Just hanging in there, not anything exciting just trying to keep up with life and feeling like I'm always two steps behind.

Elibean · 02/12/2007 10:26

Its a tiring time of year, this, much as I love the Xmas bling and excitement...sounds as though many of us are feeling it: time to get on our jet and head for the sun, though this time I vote we pull Jabber on too and go somewhere totally irresponsible and extravagant

Thanks, everyone, for being pleased about Dad's news - I am too, v relieved. He still has scans to get through, but basically I suspect he'll make fairly ancient bones.

Its dd1's B-day party today, hers is just before Xmas so we're having it early - 20 3-4 yr olds, assorted siblings and parents and thank goodness I chickened out and decided to go to our local softplay.

dd2 is streaming snot and coughing again, dd1 and I have sore throats, but no one is too bad to enjoy it - so girded loins and off we go.

Indith, glad ds is eating again - always v good sign in our house too! Gloria, how is LO?

babypowder · 02/12/2007 11:42

I've reserved my aisle seat on that jet, Eli. The whole Christmas thing is just exhausting

We have our next door neighbour's kids round today. Whilst things have calmed down there a lot, and she seems to be on the wagon, her kids are a real handful. the 7 yo girl is quite difficult - wears really tarty clothes and acts like a little madam all day long. And the 4 yo is a classic FAS child and is really infantile. Bless them, they've had a tought time of it, though. I shall also gird loins and into the fray!

Gloria42 · 02/12/2007 14:43

Popping on with good news, DS seems to be responding to ABs and is much more himself today. He still has a nasty cough, but (touch wood) he hasn't been sick since Friday and even ate a decent lunch today!

Decided not to go out last night. Good idea as it turnedout, he was up 3 times last night! Knew it was for best but was v disappointed as DP and I have been niggling at each other for ages and a good night out would have been just what we needed.

Anyway, My DPs have taken DS for the afternoon so we have the house to ourselves and are getting down to some chores that have been piling up!

Indith · 02/12/2007 14:54

Hurrah for recovering babies Gloria! I hope you get the night out soon.
