Morning all.....

Thought I'd start a new thread as the other was huge.

Bit late now but big hug to Beau..... hope you went back to sleep little man.

J & M still asleep, it's one good thing about having Mum & Dad around, I don't have to wake the girls up to do the school run.

Hi all, sounds like you all had a fab meet up. Wish I could have been there.
MrsJB congrats to your sister and glad all is well after her long wait. My friend who had the surprise baby last week is doing ok although still incredibly shocked. She is a very laid back sort of person so doesn't seem to have been too phased by it all.
We have had a lovely weekend in sunny Norfolk and had 2 days of gorgeous weather. The journey back was pretty horrendous though driving through blizzards with a headlight gone, umpteen toilet stops for C and R needing feeding. It took us ages and when we got back our boiler had cut out and the house was freezing. All rectified now however. Must get on with school stuff for tomorrow.

Mrsjaffabiffa · 19/11/2007 09:17

Morning all......

SOH, I really hope you managed to get home OK in the end. What a pain!

j has just had breakfast!! I can't believe the difference, she just opened and swallowed. No spitting it out or the stupid tounge action thing they do, just in and gone. Think that's a sure sign she's ready. She loved it too. Suppose I had better stop being so lazy now and feed my child.

Breakfast is a funny one here though, the french still put, "cereals" into their bottles! I know it's a no, no in the UK and I don't like it either, however it's quite hard to find cereal that you can make up with milk to spoon feed! The one this morning was cereal aux legumes. Vegetable flavour cereal? nice! She didn't seem to care.

Have a lovely day all, I shall be painting the new kitchen with dh and fil. It's so freezing preparing meals in the garage at the moment, we really have to get on with the new one.

MrsJB poor you preapring food in freezing temeperatures, not fun at all. Bet it is cold there, SOH said last night it was snowing where they were!!

Shall i put some cereal in the post for J?

I have admin to do this morning, no one tells you about that when you leave home and set up house. I hate it. Would rather clean

Abby long journeys with children is a blardy nightmare, i sympathise fully. Hope you managed to warm up and get ready for school ok. Your trip to Norfolk sounds lovely, how many tractors did you see??

ShowOfHands · 19/11/2007 09:38

Pregnant? Me?

Nah, I'm fat. You should know by now that you can't take anything I say seriously.

I'm home in my dull, quiet noise free house and feeling quite sad about it actually.

LG&T I must inform you has possibly the most engaging and welcoming children you can imagine. On our epic journey home yesterday me and dh kept turning to one another and saying 'they're just such lovely children aren't they?' (of course we also said 'where the feck is the AA dude?' as many times). They are well mannered, funny (very funny), bright, friendly little individuals. Once I had got used to having them all crash into our bed at 7am I even quite enjoyed it! DH wanted to bring Jonah home with us but we couldn't fit him in the nappy bag and at the point of departure I seem to remember he was a little ball of fury on the stairs (politics of train sets and big sisters). All of them are smashing but DH was so charmed by Jonah (who btw went up to see him when he had a migraine, stroked his head and cuddled him- how cute is that?).

LG&T is probably so relieved to have us out of the way. I did try and stay as out of the way as possible on Friday to give her a day to herself but ended up wandering round the frankly terrifying Gunwharf Whatsit Where The Shops Are Scary place. Father Christmas was there though in a.... gingerbread house. I had to be removed rather forcibly by security as I tried to move in.

The meet-up was only half as scary as expected. All May mummies are very glamorous I have to say. I must warn you though, do not attend the same meet ups as juliewoolie. You may find yourself staring blankly at her, not listening properly to anything she says as she has possibly the most beautiful accent I have ever heard. I do apologise my dear if I was staring at you with my mouth full of cake and not responding in a normal fashion but you do have a very lovely accent! The May babies are possibly the most beautiful group of babies I have ever seen in one room. M is still torn between Cam's J and LG&T's B and smiled and simpered at both potential MILs in quite an alarming fashion.

To get home it only took us 9hrs, lots of snow, the AA and possibly the most atomically dirty nappy I have ever changed on the passenger seat of a VW Polo.

High points of the trip:

Meeting my heroine and her gorgeous brood
Heroine as lovely in rl as she is virtually
Weeing in a pillbox
Seeing a lifesized gingerbread house.

Low points:

Leaving
Weeing in a hedge outside Tescos whilst watched by some menacing chavs.

We've brought home a souvenir though. Your cold! M has sneezed 78 times already today. Tis good for her though I would imagine. I'm less in need of it though but in true British spirit I am attempting to...er... 'man up'. I resolve to never say that again.

I want 6 children. DH not been seen since I declared this to him last night.

So... what did I miss? Anybody apart from LG&T pregnant?

twelveyeargap · 19/11/2007 09:52

Really annoyed I had to miss this weekend. Norty SOH pretending to be up the duff.

Did you get home ok in the end SOH? I was driving back from N Yorkshire last night and I felt SO sorry for the people I saw broken down. The weather was farking appalling. Driving past a lorry was like driving through a carwash. By the time we hit Hertfordshire about 9.30pm, it was snowing. I hope you didn't get caught in that SOH.

Benson, I'm sorry to hear about your poorly children. I had a kidney infection as a child too. They're so horrid - and worse for boys too. How are they now?

Mrsjaffabiffa · 19/11/2007 09:56

Glad you made it back in the end SOH.

lg&t would you like Maddie for a while, no matter what I do she is the work of the devil, maybe if she stayed with you and your well behaved children for a while she'd pick up some hints! Thanks for the offer of cereal but Mum & Dad are still in the UK until next week so I'll get them to bring me some sunshine poridge (sp?) back.

PMSL at Pillbox wee... you are going to have to explain that one you know.

If the children are so fecking adorable how come i was screaming 'just get your coat and shoes on how hard can it be' at the top of my lungs this morning. Tis ok, they are all on the coach now, should be with you by tea time.

TYG how was the inlaws? I beleive SOH did see snow, while broken down. You probably passed her.

I will take photos of the gingerbread house for you next time i go to Gun Wharf, call it Gingerbread porn

DH wants you to come and stay for New Year, i do to of course. I promise no dodgy movies...

twelveyeargap · 19/11/2007 10:09

The sodding milkman appears to have decided not to come out in the rain. Good think I'm just lamenting the fact I can't make a hot chocolate and not an infirm elderly person with a dodgy hip.

Harrumph.

Morning all

Very jealous of meet up - sounds like you had a good time.

We had a nice weekend away visiting very elderly relatives who wanted to feed us even though we had had huge travel inn breakfasts.

Only downside was C didn't seem to like the travel cot or the solid food out of jars! No pressure on me to produce "real" food then!! He didn't eat any solid food all weekend other than ice cream and blueberry muffin (a child after my own heart perhaps!). Or could it be my prediliction (sp?) for sweet things that has given him a sweet tooth

DP off today and wanting the PC to get his car tax and order me an Eden Hall day spa voucher for my 40th (4 weeks today ) so I better get off and let him get on with it.

SKYTVADDICT · 19/11/2007 10:21

I haven't been to a meet up yet MV. Can I join your group?

Meggle nooooooo, both SOH and i emailed you. I may have forgotten to put my address on am a muppet. Forgive me and please dont sit in the corner.

No milk TYG > How far is the nearest shop? SOH would probabaly be quicker milking a cow

B is moaning his grumpy little head off, he wont be held, wont play and im farcking busy emailing and phoning numptys. I may have to abandon it all in a moment and go for a walk. It is not raining right now...

twelveyeargap · 19/11/2007 11:14

Er, well, shop is about 100m down the road. I was just being narky because it's piddling raining and I can't be bothered to put any make up on. I'll have to venture out at some point. I'm too mortified to show up at swimming tomorrow in my maternity swimsuit again. Everything else was too small and my boobs and belly were hanging out. Need to go to Sports Direct and find a cheapo cossie.

BUT how weird is this? (OK, admittedly, not very...) Christmas card just came through the door from the milkman, with a note saying that the depot are no longer supplying him with goods or vehicle and could I please leave out cash (rather than cheque to Dairy Crest) tonight for collection in the morning. Also that he's sorry he can't call in person, but he doesn't have time to speak to everyone as he's looking for a new job and he's very sorry he can't collect the milk bottles as he has no vehicle. Odd, odd, odd... Shame too, because I liked my doorstep delivery. Haven't had one since yonks ago in Ireland.

AutumnMeadow · 19/11/2007 11:40

SOH, glad you finally got home.

Hello to TYG, Meggle & Sky

Well done to J for eating her breakfast.

I have loaded some piccies to my profile of the meet up

ShowOfHands · 19/11/2007 12:12

LG&T, I'm expecting the brood any time this afternoon with directions on how to use 'Bit Torrent' (eh what?). I could kill N. Apparently it won't respond. Have told dh just to try rubbing it a bit. He wants to know if he needs to download a client (eh?) and something else about pirate bay. If your dh has hooked us up with some dodgy porn sites for a laugh I am heading back down there to give you a stern talking to.

You come to us for New Years. We can stay at the ILs' mansion. They have a huge bath for all your NY needs.

Send me all the measurements of your windows and a list of which rooms they are so I can sort out all of your curtain needs. You can pick them up at New Years. MIL is desperate to meet your brood (she misses her own brood who all selfishly grew up and moved out).

TYG, wear a big coat with a hood and sod the make-up. Straw hats work well.

Meggle, the next meet is in Dubai if you're interested. My email address is the one on facebook, make sure you put .co.uk! We missed you on Sat.

And...er... pillboxes? Less said the better I think.

twelveyeargap · 19/11/2007 12:21

Oooh, just remembered there are black jacks and fruit salads in the car. That will get me out of the house.

I'm obviously not cut out for this weaning lark. I can't bear the mess. A has been sporting one of those cloth bibs "with sleeves" of late. Poor child. I had to give myself a stern talking to about trying to get food stains out of bibs. It is pointless isn't it?

largeginandtonic · 19/11/2007 12:48

SOH he does need to download a client first and then bit torrent, then on to pirate bay (nothing dodgy, unless you want it ) Good luck and sorry. You know what N would say to J...

Beau still yelling\gurgling\moaning. I can do nothing. Am off to toddlers in a minute to see if distraction works, for me that is not him. Im going to use the tank buggy SOH. Wish me luck.

Will ponder my curtain needs and tell N about New Year. We are many and Father Xmas will have been so even more toys will be coming than is humanly possible to cram in to a Toyota Emina.

Pillboxes...go on someone ask her...

largeginandtonic · 19/11/2007 12:49

Also PMSL at TYG trying to get stains out of bibs, that has made my day. I'm off to toddlers to tell them all Think it should be in MN quotes of the week. OLIVIA?????

AutumnMeadow · 19/11/2007 13:19

LOL at the stains TYG. If it bothers you seeing the stains then invest in a Silly Bibz Bib, it is stain resistant :D They are £10 for 2 on some baby site somewhere. I got one FOC at the Baby Show 2 years ago and its great.

Go on then...... SOH..... Pillboxes???

You can tell when the weather is bad in the Uk everyone is on here chatting. I will wish for rain more often for you all.

I thought pill boxes were small, was it just a trickle then SOH or did you stop and empty when it was full, Very good for your pelvic floor!!

lol at the stained bibs, I used to be the same tbh, I am very fussy about the kids clothes not getting stained, I am the vanish queen! Have now drawn the line at the bibs though, remembering that it is what they are for!

I've given up on the painting, my two men in overalls are far better at it than me so leave them to it I say. It's 3° in the kitchen!!! Farcking freezing and I've been preparing a roast for tonight.

AM, how did your brother get on with J & E saturday night or did you find someone else?
