Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
phdlifeneedsanewname · 05/11/2007 08:18

morning you, regular lurker here thought I'd say hi to those of you with screechy babies, just before I put my earplugs in for the day

SharpMolarBear · 05/11/2007 08:18

Morning!

SharpMolarBear · 05/11/2007 08:21

Hi phdlife - we do remember you you know

phdlifeneedsanewname · 05/11/2007 08:21

and snap to those with wakey babies

gcse not too bad, but was horrified to find him awake and grinning at me at 3am sunday morning!

SharpMolarBear · 05/11/2007 08:22

I wonder why they're all doing this??

phdlifeneedsanewname · 05/11/2007 08:22

hi smb, thought some of you lot might have a non-existent memory like mine these days, that's all.

omg, there's a baby on the floor! how'd THAT happen?

phdlifeneedsanewname · 05/11/2007 08:23

someone on blw forum suggested it was the moon

someone else said it's not uncommon before they master a new skill

both clearly = doomed mummies

SharpMolarBear · 05/11/2007 08:33

at the moon!

phdlifeneedsanewname · 05/11/2007 08:37

shouldn't that be [howl] at the moon?

Maveta · 05/11/2007 08:37

growth spurt?? Well if T is mastering a new skill still after just learning to crawl, you are totally screwed in trouble SMB

Just about to book a weekend break to barcelona with dh and N in december for my 30th Rather that I'm having to book it myself but if I don't we'll never end up going

SharpMolarBear · 05/11/2007 08:47

at the mooooooooon
Next new skill will be unclipping my bra, I'm sure he was trying earlier
Or maybe putting food in his mouth instead of smearing it over his high chair!
I bet you're looking forward to going away, I am very When in December are you going?

YvieE · 05/11/2007 09:04

Heyyyyyyyyyyyyy how are the APRIL mummies.

I am so confused, and can't seem to flip the layout of the threads to make any sense of the convos.
I'm back at work now - been back 3 weeks and can only just string together a sentence that makes any sense to anyone but Sarai!
It is so hard - working motherhood, i am so shattered. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Am going to try and figure this layout out so i can find out whats been going on.

Take care all.

liath · 05/11/2007 09:20

Hi everyone!

Sorry you're finding work tough going, Yvie. I'm sure the post-natal porridge brain syndrome does get better - maybe when they turn 18?? What sort of child care do you use? Do you get any time to yourself at all?

Wow to crawling T, SMB. We should start a sweepstake on which baby walks first I reckon.

BTW I must sort out the secret santa so please everyone give me a virtual kick up the *rse.

Had a lovely weekend at my parents - my wonderful mum cooked a huge roast yesterday with the best pork crackling I've had in long time.

Am feeling better this morning after a some absolutely awful nights. Went to bed at 9pm last night then ds only woke once for a feed and slept till 7am for the first time in ages. He's got a stinking cold so maybe that's why - he's already back down for a nap.

Hello to any gatecrashers/lurkers ! Looks like I missed the fun.

Idreamofchocolate · 05/11/2007 09:43

Why is it that when I go to 'refresh' the thread, it jumps down to 'post a new message'? Wasn't going to post, but as it jumped down here, thought I might as well.

So, missed all the fun last night. I hope I didn't offend Rhubarb by saying my pumpkin was better then hers (well I thought it was). I think everyone kissed and made up though in the end. I'd forgotten all the hassle we got over minty sperm and offensive thread titles generally. Pretty funny really looking back, at least it keeps things interesting when we have gatecrashers - I rather like seeing new names popping up on the thread.

Hi Yvie - yes going back to work is tough going! I don't feel like I keep on top of things at the moment, so goodness only knows how it'll be when I go back to work in Jan. However, I do remember feeling like that before I went back to work after having Em, and I coped OK, so I'm guessing it'll be the same again. Except now I have 2 children to get ready in the morning, and 2 different drop-offs. OK, so I will need to be mega-organised. In fact tht's my top-tip, get everything organised the night before, bags packed and by the front-door (or better still, in the car). Tehn get to work and enjoy a nice mug of tea in peace!

Right, rambled on enough. Am supposed to be tidying the house as have another (final) valuation today, before putting the house on the market [scared]. Oh gawd, means we're gonna have to keep the house tidy from now on [impossible].

normabutty · 05/11/2007 09:43

Liath - . Roast dinner sounds nice, we had a lovely roast yesterday too.

Yvie - sorry your finding it such hard work at the mo with working too. No tips tho as I'm a sit on my arse all day kinda mum

Maveta - hope you get a nice weekend away ( not sure that sounds how I meant it...I meant find a nice place to stay, etc)

Think Erin is a lazy baby. I know she can roll but she doesn't do it. She can also sit up...but only if she has a toy or something to hold onto otherwise she flings herself backwards . Bought her a toy at the weekend that she can play with when sitting so hoping to encourage her with that!!! Mind you she seemed more interested in sitting next to my big nappy starage tub and eating the side of it .

Ok, stupid question of the day...what do you do about trying stuff on when you have a pram with you??? Do you hope they have a big changing room or one at an end so you don't have to close the curtain?

weeonion · 05/11/2007 09:47

norma - i usually have c in her wrap/ mei tai and just lay her on the floor. not sure about a pram though.. hmmm

normabutty · 05/11/2007 09:50

I thought about taking the sling but I'm going to be there all afternoon and will need quite a bit of stuff so it's a bit awkward. I'm also getting a bit of shopping so thought if I took the pram I could shove it underneath

Idreamofchocolate · 05/11/2007 09:52

Norma - trying stuff on when you have a baby with you can often be more hassle than it's worth. inevitably the baby starts crying the moment you get near the changing room and you end up half trying things on whilst rocking a screaming baby, and getting all stressed out and hating every item of clothing you've picked up! If Erin is feeling kind to you however, sometimes shops let you have a disabled changing room (our local M&S is great for this) so you can take the buggy in with you. If this happens I tend to get Sophie out of the buggy and put her on the floor, so she can have a sit or roll around. Otherwise, I just end up trying things on with the changing room door half open, with one eye on S and the other on what I'm trying on. Not great, and you have to rush. And make sure you're wearing nice pants.

The easiest answer of course is to leave Erin with soemone else whilst you go shopping. Or buy on-line so you can try on at home. Or buy stuff without trying it on, on the basis that you will probably end up taking most of it back!

normabutty · 05/11/2007 09:56

It's for a mystery shopping assignment so I have to actually go into the shop and try stuff on. Also dh at work so no-one to leave her with. might just have to flash everyone else in the changing rooms

Idreamofchocolate · 05/11/2007 09:57

Bah! OK, nice pants it is then!

Maveta · 05/11/2007 09:58

Popping in again, are you back at work full time Yvie? I'm only doing 3 days and it feels like enough! Been back 5 weeks now though and feels like we are all happily into our routines. I'm really glad of it, to be honest, even if we are all more tired. I love getting to work and sitting with a cuppa for a while looking at the net in peace!

Yay weekend booked! Going on the 6th smb, just 2 nights but staying in a friend's apartment who is away and with the 50% island resident discount on flights, it should work out as a pretty cheap weekend all in all. will be fab. But first Madrid in 3 weeks which is only one night and a bit more of a dash in-dash out job but still, a change of scene is always nice.. just wanted to book these two last minute cheapy breaks to make up for having no holidays this year. And it should do the job nicely

bah, back to work x

tcmummy · 05/11/2007 10:32

aloha!

Never mind the moon effecting the babies, our thread seems to have gone crayzeeeee . I blame Halloween!

maveta!! SNAP My 30th is in December too!!! When's yours? Mine's the 1st.

nutty/octo -

tcmummy · 05/11/2007 10:34

liath is it to late for me to join in Secret santa, seem to have missed that! Would love to if poss

PeshaCake · 05/11/2007 10:38

Yep my refresh just brought me down here too idoc, it keeps taking me strange places

Nutty - if its changing rooms with curtains i park the buggy outside, change quick and keep peeking out! If its up the far end then sometimes I have the front of the buggy poking through the curtain so i can see them. TBH if they're strapped in and right outside they cant escape so wont come to any harm and you'd hear if someone tried to take them out (highly unlikely anyway!) so its not really a problem. Or if I can afford to I'll just buy it and take back whats no good - I never try anything on in primark!
I've never had the opportunity to go shopping without any dc, if I do have a babysitter I have much more important things to do than go shopping! Sleep or drink normally!!

CaptainDippy · 05/11/2007 11:00

MY goodness - what a lot of confusion ...... I am afraid I laid low til it was all over .....

Feeling VERY sick, just ate a whole load of chocolate. Bleurgh!
