Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh - DHs sister is driving me MAD. She asked what she could get J for Xmas so I emailed her his list which is for the whole family and asked her to let me know what she wanted to get.

She emailed me back saying she had got everything on the list

AIBU to be really irritated?????

theUrbanDryad · 04/11/2007 20:58

did she perhaps misunderstand you? it's a bit ott to get a whole load of stuff for him, especially as it might make other family members feel a bit inadequate if they haven't got as much money. i know when my brother got my parents a really lovely pressie one year (can't even remember what now ) i was cross with him cause i couldn't afford one as good!!

siblings are weird. i really want more kids, but don't know whether only child is a good way to go. having said that, dh is an only child and isn't the best socialised person in the world!

(mind you, he did go to boarding school, so you'd think he'd be better.)

(but then, boarding school's not the same as a family is it?)

god, i do waffle on

theUrbanDryad · 04/11/2007 20:59

sorry, just seen it's dh's sister, not yours!

then yes, totally ott. don't ask me why it's different, it just is.

laughalot · 04/11/2007 21:01

Omg I love disney stuff I reckon one day you will all kick me off this thread !!!!!!

Eah cant wait to get jungle book Aidan loves it. Found out today my ds nativity play is on the 19th dec wish I had read the newsletter right the first time rather than moaning to my friend that its bad that they dont do one for her to turn round and say did you get a newsletter on friday . Its going to be so sweet as they do it with the main school not just nursery.

New hair do is fab must post pics soon.

Right off onto facebook yes finally iv joined

bunnyhunny · 04/11/2007 21:39

wilkie - that's a huge pita. not just because others might feel like they should have got more, but now you'll have to think of more stuff he wants for others to get him. you should have stuck stuff on the list that YOU wanted too
I racked my brains for things for S, and have come up with outdoors play stuff (so my house doesnt get cluttered). and a garage.

ud - before S I only ever wanted 1. my brother and I really arent close at all, and several of my mates aren't close to their siblings either. but then I see my mates kids grow up with each other and it's so ace.

and, what did you play in the band? i used to play bass in one when i was a whippersnapper. we currently have a drum kit, piano, guitars and assorted wind instruments so I'm really hoping S grows up musical. He already walks up to the piano and has a little play on his own.

theUrbanDryad · 04/11/2007 22:03

officially i was keyboards/vocal, but as all we were doing was pissing about in the music studios at lunchtime it never really got off the ground. we never played a gig, just sat around whilst wearing a lot of black velvet

of course, then Evanescence came along and we realised they were doing what we wanted to do, but much, much better!!!

Wilkie · 04/11/2007 22:09

PMSL UD - have such a great mental image of you being 'edgy'

Am off to bed. Night all.

Lizzzombie · 05/11/2007 09:07

Morning!
I've uploaded photo of the quilt I finally finished for one of my nephews. (the other nephew got his before Dylan was born!) Don't look too closely, the stitching is a bit wonky in places, but please, be amazed by my mitred corners : possibly the hardest thing to do ever on a sewing machine in satin!

Also uploaded photo of Dylan from yesterday. I got him a little dressing gown on ebay, with ears! Its so cute. He looks all snuggly in it. In the photo he is playing with the most irritating toy in the world.

Hope all is well.

UD - I was in a band at 6th form college too. We were called Manky Mollies! But mainly we just wrote stupid songs about how we hated all the rich people at our college. nice.

MrsCarrot · 05/11/2007 09:24

Lizz - that quilt is amazing! I love patchwork, I have various things draped around the house but nothing that I've made myself. I'd love to try but I can just about sew on a button.

I went to a patchwork exhibition in a village hall recently and some of the pieces were really old and so intricate and beautiful. That will be a lovely piece to hand down through your family.

I am packing for our holiday. Mean Mum that I am, the dc's have been sent to school while we pack but they are bouncing off the walls this morning. We are going to London tonight so we don't have to leave so early. The eurostar leaves at nine or so and I would be wringing my hands on the M11 at any hint of traffic.

Have a good week.

Lizzzombie · 05/11/2007 09:42

MrsC - is it you going to Euro Disney?
Have a fab time!

The type of patchwork I have done in the picture really is not that hard. Its all done by sewing strips together, then chopping them up so you get long lengths of littlier squares, then moving the squares along one square at a time to get the effect on the finished quilt.
It looks (& sounds) much more complicated than it is.
The corners of the edges were the hardest bit!

MrsCarrot · 05/11/2007 09:49

yes, it's me that's off to the heart of the magic

I am still impressed with the quilt.

Shimmer · 05/11/2007 13:22

Have a great time at Disney MrsC! I remember going to Disneyland when i was about 8 and thinking it was JUST THE MOST WONDERFUL AMAZING PLACE IN THE WORLD. I'm sure your kids will love it. I can't wait to take F when he's a bit older

Hmmm... i wrote a post yesterday about F's favourite toys and going to bonfire night fireworks and i've just looked bakc and it doesn't appear to be there... and now i'm paranoid i've been banned from mnet!

I decided what to buy for my secret santa pressie today! Horray . Are we going to say what was from who after Christmas? Or is it meant to always remain a mystery?

UD PMSL at your band

Lizzzombie · 05/11/2007 13:25

Shimmer - you sound just like that little girl in the advert! "...its mmmmmmmmm Magical!"

vinorouge · 05/11/2007 16:19

Lizz - impressed with the mitred corners! My mum does quilting so know how tricky they can be. The quilt is cool! I wasn;t really that keen on mum making one for Ellen but really like the one she made, used it as a playmat before she started crawling everywhere.

DH has been off ill today but feeling better.

Mrs C have a great time on hols

Wilkie - TBH part of me would be pleased that DH sis has bought loads of stuff for J and part of me would be annoyed. I take it she isn't part of the £10 christmas?

Mum is coming over night to stay and then we are going shopping together tomorrow while Ellen is at nursery. it's mums birthday so I'm taking her out for lunch at my one of my fave places piccolinos (italian).I haven't really got any money to spend on shopping but will prob end up with a few bits and pieces.

Lizzzombie · 05/11/2007 17:28

Thank you for your appreciation of my mitred corners Vino! Hope you have a good day tomorrow.

When Ellen first started at nursery, how many sessions did you go along with her for? DJ is booked in to start next Tuesday!

Btw I think my baby may have taken the halloween thing too far - his first tooth is one of the fangy ones on the side. Weird!

2Happy · 05/11/2007 18:10

fuuuuuccckkk!

Lizzzombie · 05/11/2007 19:05

omg! you poor thing!
Handy hairspray tip though - thats what I thought rugs were for!

eandh · 05/11/2007 20:02

hairspray is also great for getting biro out of leather sofas (small bit on and gentle rub and repeat until biro either off or very faint)

Oh and by the way apparently I am 'best mummy in the world' today because I got Ellie jungle book dvd she went to bed singing 'I wanna be like you ooo ooo '

2Happy · 05/11/2007 20:14

Ah well, dh came home armed with more nail varnish remover, hairspray, and red wine (ds1 is in bed, so no worries about the wine adding to the mess...!)

Blooday kids!!

2Happy · 05/11/2007 20:15

Blooday?? Good, now I'm inventing swear words

Well - I hit GOAL on WW tonight so I don't have to pay anymore. God knows how cos I had fish and chips AND a meal out last week!!!!!

Shimmer · 05/11/2007 21:56

Hahaha i'm just watching doc martin (such a lovely show!) and louisa's bridesmaid has just given birth on the top of a hill after her waters broke, she had about 3 contractions and pushed it out with no mess no screming and no umbilical cord (?!?) all in under 2 minutes!!! Hope my next one's like that

Lizzzombie · 06/11/2007 07:20

PCF - I'm no reflexology expert, but the inside 'ball' of your ankle relates to your ovaries apparently. And if you massage it in a circular motion on both feet, (just around that ball bone bit) then your AF often appears.

(not bish bash bosh immediately, but def during the next 12 hours)

RGee · 06/11/2007 09:31

I'm at home today after lo proj vomited all over nursery yesterday afternoon. She seems quite chirpy this mornng despite a 2am wake up call to change sick covered bedding. Her room stank this morning!!
Let's hope breakfast stays down.

Will catch up later.
