Ok, have just reserved Thurs and Fri mornings for DJ to go to nursery.
Rung up Prickmark (I HATE THEM SOOOOO MUCH!) and they said they only have 2 types of contract; Mon-Fri or Sat/Sun. So they could no way give me 2 mornings during the week as set shifts as thats not their contract policy. WAKERS
BUT I know they have lots of overtime, so I possibly would be able to get shifts to cover those mornings.
Why am I feeling like this whole thing is pointless. I am basically putting my child in nursery so I can fold cheap jumpers and deal with pikeys?
It would be different if I actually had a job which had some point to it.
To sound melodramatic...today I am mostly filled with despair!

Lizzzombie · 31/10/2007 10:02

Shoul have been WA * KERS

WeeWitchyWilkie · 31/10/2007 10:14

Lizz - do you not have office experience? What about finding a receptionist job or something like that? Prob better pay and more flexible. Check out your local temping agencies who will specialise in temp and perm contracts?

what did he think to that PCF??

we went to my bf's baby shower this afternoon, was really lovely, except everyone bought her stuff for the baby! i thought the point of a baby shower was that it was for the mum, and the baby got stuff when he/she's born?? felt a bit silly handing over a box of Lush smellies when everyone else was giving her booties and blankets!

eandh · 01/11/2007 07:40

I had a baby shower at work and my presents were a mixture of bits for me and hattie, think it was just an excuse to get cake and nice stuff into work and excuse to be eating it!!

All hatties tests at hospital were fine yesterday so signed off for hearing and her heart (she was not co-operative at the ecg and it took longer than it was meant to

As ellie was out with my mum all day hattie and I went into town and had lunch with one of my work colleagues (shes like a 2nd mum) and she treated me to lunch so that was lovely.

Had a run of good nights lately both sleeping 6.30pm to around 6-6.30 which is fine with me, now I have typed that it will jinx it.

PCF lovley new pics very cute and smiley!

Need to sort out snackbox for preschool and write out my food shopping list (hattie and I do the most exciting things when ellie is at school) I think Eddas and dc are coming over this afternoon so no point tidying up to much as the girls will have every toy out within 10minutes

Lizzzombie · 01/11/2007 08:51

Have tons of office experience, and will def look into pt office work, but its like gold dust. Have registered with local agencies all ready, and thought I'd sign up with the job centre too. Something will turn up. Very happy that I've got him into the nursery I wanted though. (Its always the 1st one you look at isnt it!?)

I had a fab baby shower. All baby presents, but the most wonderful cake. I think its on my face book photos. It was a big boob/belly cake!!

PCF - LOL! Do you reckon you could pop out 3 more kiddies so you get the most out of your car? Its good value for money then! A woman round here had 7 kids already (like you do!) and recently gave birth to twins...can you even contemplate having 9 kids?!

Lizzzombie · 01/11/2007 08:51

ps - Have mothercare interview at 10am....fingers crossed...they MUST have staff discount!

eandh · 01/11/2007 08:55

I am going into our mothercare today wilst ellie at school (decided to do food shopping online!) will be in tehre about 10am so wil be sending you good luck vibes from maidstone store!!!!

WeeWitchyWilkie · 01/11/2007 09:12

I didn't get a baby shower or a leaving card or a leaving present bunch of miserable bastards. The REASON (we have since found out) is that me and my BF who also works there left at the same time as she was due a week after me!! WTF?!?!?!?!

Lizz - sending good luck vibes to you matey

PCF - lucky you with the new car! I love those two little dudes on the advert

UD - she was probably thrilled that someone had treated HER!!! I would have been.

I NEED SECRET SANTA ADDRESSES. Please email your address to me at wilkbert @ ntlworld . com and I will send them out to the relavent people.

Had FAB night last night. M&D had J overnight so DH and I went out for a lovely meal and then drinks. We then got a lie in. It was SO nice just to be US again for a night. It is definately worth making the time for yourselves if you can manage it. It is hard cos we have no family here but was worth the effort of driving to M&D, dropping him off and then back again!

WHERE ARE: LTH, Dragonhart, Vino????

I got the job at Mothercare!!! Yay - obviously your vibes all worked. Thank you!
Saturdays to begin with then hopefully a couple of morning shifts in the week after xmas!
So happy!

PCF - we brought an ex-motorbility car, I'd never heard of them before but it was a graet bargain as it had been kept up in good nick etc. Would def recommend searching them out to people looking for a new car!

We had a sleep in till nearly 7am this morning, heating was on full blast and I think it makes DJ more sleepy as he slept much later than usual!

vinorouge · 01/11/2007 19:14

Congrats on the mothercare job Lizz!

I am off work this week and next, Dh off work just this week so we have been away in derbyshire again. Both really tired, DH had horrid cold and Ellen has been poorly so we spent a lot of time sleeping. watching tv and generally trying not to get annoyed with Ellen crying. She has really tried my patience this week but has had some sort of bug. Doc told me to just give her drinks for a day which did stop her being sick but then the next day she had a massive appetite. She seems happy enough asleep now.

She as out of 6-9 clothes wel before she was 9 months. She wears 0-12 tops and 12-18 bottoms. She has a tubby tummy and long legs!

Tomorrow got hair appt can't decide what to have done. Feeling a bit plain at the mo. Also got to find something to wear for wedding DH and I arae going to on Sat.

i didn't have a bbay shower as such but did get lots of baby stuff from work when I left, also got a voucehr for local beauty place to papmer myself so I guess I got a bit of both. My BF offered to organise a baby shower for me but I didn't see the point cos I didn't want a load of neutral stuff.

Miss Timid hasn;t yet been back to view our house with her dad. She is coming on Sat morn so lets hope her dad likes it !

DH out at footie at the mo. I am doing a lot of washing. Normally this would be one of my fave jobs but its not really doing it for me tonight....

Hey congrats on the weight loss Wilkie
And Rgee - you little baker !
E&H - glad ellie is ok.

WeeWitchyWilkie · 01/11/2007 20:23

Congratulations Lizz! Do you get discount?

MrsCarrot · 01/11/2007 22:01

Congrats, Lizz!

I have mastitis AGAIN! Everyone is telling me to stop feeding. It is getting very tiring.

Vino - poor you, so many of us have had that bug now, it's everywhere.

eandh · 02/11/2007 07:19

CONGRATS lizz thats great news!

Been quiet on here lately hasn't it? I sepnt 2.5hours at reschool comittee meeting last night making plans for christmas nativity/bazaar and the children have a christmas party with a 'secret' guest (wonder who'll that be?) I am so over excited about xmas this year probably because its the 1st year Ellie has really been 'into' it. Eddas and I have booked tockets to see Father Christams at Leeds Castle onb sunday 23rd december, I went last year and they make it so magical (they have a little xmas train to take them to the castle and all themed corridors etc) ooooo I want it to be December.

Off to work in 10minutes but to have break from kids!

laughalot · 02/11/2007 13:24

Hi everyone hope everyone is ok, we are ok im having a mega hairstyle change tomorrow so ill make sure a post a pic.

Vino glad you are better my mum and dad live in derbyshire.

Lizz fab news on the job mothercare is so upmarket .

Check out old mother hen eah sorting the party out you are a guddun wish you lived next door to me. I am mega excited about santa too.

Shimmer · 02/11/2007 15:13

Hi all. Congratulations on the new job Lizz. I absolutely LOVE mothercare. I was browsing in there yesterday and they had loads of cute little christmas clothes I cuold have spent hundreds but limited myself to some really cute 'santa's little helper' pjs.

sorry to hear ellen had been poorly vino. Glad she's on the mend now though.

A poll of January mummies please... who thinks fish fingers are healthy?? Freddie had them for the first time his week and really enjoyed them. I know they're advertised as being all healthy and havin omega 3 and stuff, but are they really? do you think they're something that should be limited to every now and again rather then regularly?

Lizzzombie · 02/11/2007 16:09

Thanks for all the congratulations!
Yes I believe we do get discount, at the Early Learning Centre too...but only after our 12 weeks probation period. Which is annoying as thats the end of february, so totally misses xmas and his birthday!

I give DJ fish fingers mushed up, but I take the batter off - on the advice of the health visitor. Gave him peanut butter today too, went down a storm!

Have just brought a snow suit from Woolies which was 50% off - very pleased with myself. He is going to look so cute toddling down the seafront in the cold wearing it!

WeeWitchyWilkie · 02/11/2007 17:16

Fish Fingers - hmmm, now that IS something I will try on J. Running out of ideas at the moment. He had Heinz Spagetti Space Shapes on toast for lunch and LOVED them. He then had a banana and satsuma fruit salad - loved it. It makes me feel and to watch him eat like that - he seems so grown up.

Please can you send me your addresses for SS. Only Vino has so far!

vinorouge · 02/11/2007 18:58

Now I bought some fish fingers a while ago but haven't used them yet - not even for fish finger butties for me. What am I thinking of? Well I bought them and then kept thinking I should make my own. One day.....Ellen likes fish so am sure they would go down well.

LL - hope you like your new haircut. I had mine cut into a bob today and am growing my fringe out. It annoys me when I get hot (which is quite a lot) so its on its way out!

E&H - the santa trip sounds cool. I can't wait til Ellen is excited about christmas.

I am LOVING strictly at the moment. Been making sure Ellen is in bed so I can watch it takes two every night.

Went to an outdoors warehouse today that sells camping walking type stuff. Great value and we got a few bits for christmas. I am excited about a new holdall for when I go away for weekends that matches my walking boot bag.

Dh gone out for curry. I need to hoover oh and get my tea. Just remembered I put my spuds on half an hour ago. Eeeek

vinorouge · 02/11/2007 19:02

Oh. I hadn't put my potatoes on, had only boiled the kettle and then walked away. I'm hungry......

vinorouge · 02/11/2007 19:25

wilkie how does j eat spaghetti on toast?
ellen is fascinated by any food that gets on her hand rather than eat it she just moves it from one index finger to the other and loses all interest in eating. she was like it with a speck and I mean a speck of spinach the other. good for coordination I knoe but she annoys me when she won't eat. do you spoonfeed spaghetti?

2Happy · 02/11/2007 19:53

Evening all.
Lizz - congrats on the job, and the nursery. Do you have to do lots of training for mothercare - all those clueless parents-to-be wandering in knowing nothing about car seats (remembers dh and my agonising purchasing 2 and a half years ago!)
MrsC - hope you're feeling better .
Lal - looking forward to the pics
PCF - good news on the DLA
Was DH in Inverness again, is that why she's vanished for a bit?
eandh - glad all the tests went well

Hey! Guess what?!!

You'll never guess!

No really, have a go!

I've got no news!

bunnyhunny · 02/11/2007 20:53

hello again been catching up on the new thread - thought you'd lost me there didn't you!!!
lizz - congrats on new job! do you get a staff discount?
wilkie - just read you had a baby free night. mum keeps offering, and S sleeps through, but I KNOW I will stress all night. and I like to go up and peek in at him sleeping during the evening anyway..

so, my news...
S is almost walking. he does about 5 steps independently before falling over. but he seems to prefer walking around holding hands, or the backs of my legs.
He is STILL teething - is it just us, or does it just keep on going? He has 1 top one, and the 2 either side are also coming up. So in a short while he might have a totally lop-sided smile..
We were watching 'baby tv' this evening, and they said bye and S started waving at the telly - no prompting from us or anything. lol.
#And he did his first baby sign - 'milk' when we forgot to give him his bottle one evening.

oh, and I just got a mei tai. It's so fab, I'm tempted to wake S up to carry him around ofr a bit

so who else is still broody or ttc?
