Surely no more sickness to be had?! (Or eah'll start spraying the thread with disinfectant!)

Hi - am about to go to bed nice and early, would say that my home is nice and peaceful but its either world war 3 outside or all my neighbours are letting off their fireworks on the same night. Great!

Really enjoying having a baby free zone though. I've had my sewing machine out all day and am finishing off a quilt I started for one of my nephews when I was pregnant! Oops!

Ud - My Dp left LO alone with TV remote a couple of weeks ago when he popped to the loo, baby scaled the stairs no probs on his own and appeared at the bathroom totally freaking DP out....a stair gate was duly fitted the next day! Have also put one on the kitchen doorway (we have no kitchen door, its like an arch thing) so now I dont have to be worried about tripping over him (he's my little shadow) or him pulling himself up on the oven door when its hot !!

Eah - My Mum took my sister to Paris disney land when she was about 11 (a long time ago now!) they stayed in the Davy Crockett lodge which is the self catering option, and really enjoyed it. Apart from my sister reckons Tweedle Dee or Tweedle Dum groped her bum when they were having photos done. I declined to go with them as at aged 14 I thought I was far too grown up!

We are waiting for the 20 year anniversary (15 years this year) so baby will be 5 and properly appreciate it all. There are a lot of deals to be had on it though. Esp if you get the Eurostar. And I am always seeing competitions for tickets too!

Right - am off to bed nice and early, to have at least 10 hours sleep! x

Lizzzombie · 04/11/2007 09:05

Oooh - so where was everyone last night then?

(and how sad am I for being on here as soon as I wake up?)

  • 10 hours straight sleep - nice! x
eandh · 04/11/2007 09:25

morning lizz - i fell asleep at 9.45!!

Been up since 5.45 so Hattie having a nap and dh painting the kitchen (with ellie talking to him non stop ) and I have spent 2 hours cleaning the house but I need to hoover upstairs but will wait till Hattie awake and I am just about to do the ironing.

My dad will be here in a bit to put the new light up in playroom (dh colour blind so not allowed near electrics!!)

I forgot lal was a travel agent duh, shes just text me about disneyland paris and going to get me a number to ring that do good deals, spoke to my brother this morning and him,gf and nephew will probably come as well

Oh god 3 hours and we have to go to il's for the birthday get together I can't wait

Wilkie · 04/11/2007 09:54

Can we come to Disneyland Paris with you EAH - your treat?!?!?!

I am gonna be SOOOOOOO bored today. Everyone is away so it is just me and J all day. Am I awful that I find it boring just the two of us all day? I love spending time with him but I find it hard going on our own. That sounds really mean. I can't wait until we can 'do' stuff like baking, painting, colouring, reading, puddle splashing, kicking a football about but at the moment it is a bit dul (feel horrible, mean and guilty for typing that! )

EAH - congrats on the weight loss! That is FANTASTIC mate.

Lizz - you are sooooo lucky to have had a full night's sleep although I can't believe you didn't lay in past 9am!

I have filled a wicker basket with loads of crap - empty juice bottle, persil washing up balls, wooden spoon, tupperware and J has been playing with it for an hour! He keeps lifting the lid, getting something out, chewing it, putting it back and repeating the process.

bunnyhunny · 04/11/2007 10:09

about disneyland paris! I have been meaning to boko a trip to Barcelona for the past 4 months, but never see to have enough money for the flights AND accommodation. We used to just book flights and sort out accommodation when we get there, but I darent do that now with S..

Lizz - lucky you baby free AND finishing some sewing! that's a huge result. I keep meaning to finish things I started ages ago (and I'm so tiny I have to adjust all my clothes, so I have a great pile of new clothes that all need taking up), but I always seem to end up on mn instead...

Wilkie - I'm with you on the wanting to paint, kick footballs about, colouring etc. S just wants to 'do' stuff, not play with his baby toys anymore, but I'm running out of things we can actually do that don't send me insane. Like the wicker basket idea - we don't have a basket, but we do have a big saucepan...

S is now refusing to be spoonfed, so it looks like he has coerced me into blw. The big issue is no egg, milk, soy and been advised not to feed lentils / chickpeas due to their close relation to soy, which means I have to cook something different to what I would eat. So it's such a shame to see it all end up being dropped onto the dog, which is what usually happens with finger foods. Well, off to cook some home-made chicken nuggets for S to throw about..

MrsCarrot · 04/11/2007 13:45

EAH - I am going tomorrow, what a coincidence!

vinorouge · 04/11/2007 13:57

Well DH and I had a baby free night too cos we went to a wedding reception and stayed in the hotel which was lovely. The bathroom was to die for and has made me long for a stylish romy bathroom. the bath had a freestanding tap that you could move out of the way, it was really deep and oodles of room for both of us. Bliss! Ellen stayed at my friends last night well from 3pm-lunchtime today and was no probs, slept through and chatted to herself ahppily when she woke this morning at 6.45. I had been worried she would just cry a lot as she has doen this week when she's been poorly. My friend said she was worn out and that she doesn't think she's ready for kids yet!

E&H we are gonna go eurocamping in 2009. I love camping but can;t be arsed to take my own stuff abroad and you get a proper bed, fridge etc. Plus if you book early there are loads of cheap deals to be had esp if you go by ferry. Think I would like to go to Eurodisney, everyone I know has enjoyed it.

Miss Timid spent ages looking round our house again yesterday but heard nothing yet. I daren't hope that she makes an offer. IF we do ever sell our house we then have to find one and theres not much out there that we woudl be happy to move to at the mo.

Wilkie I put stuff in a sainsburys jute bag and Ellen loves unpacking it. She has learnt to kneel down when she stands up so her fave game at the mo is standing up, droping her toy, kneeling down to pick said toy up, standing up, dropping toy .......

theUrbanDryad · 04/11/2007 14:08

i didn't have you down as the Disney type MrsC...

MrsCarrot · 04/11/2007 14:42

I'm not really, UD, - I am alternatively cursing my decision and wishing we were going to Paris or Venice or something, and then being pleased for the children. But.... it is for Dc's birthdays, their present and their party combined, they will love it and ds1 will really enjoy the studio stuff. Like EAH say, it's the whole princess/castle/magic thing that 3-7 year old girls LOVE.

You see like-minded people around, gritting their teeth at the consumerism yet enjoying their kids loving the fireworks and Pirates of the Carribean rides and so on.

There are actually couples there on their honeymoon, smooching by the Beauty and the Beast parades.

Anyway - I am only semi lentil really. I like to mix with brown rice ways with a good dollop and materialism and tat now and then. It all gets a bit holier than though otherwise. I did snigger to myself when when everyone at Steiner parent/toddler said they never let Disney in their house.

theUrbanDryad · 04/11/2007 16:19

i said i'd never let Disney in my house when i was pg.

what was the first toy PIL bought Z?

a Tigger rattle that plays the most annoying songs. and what did Z do when he saw it? at 3 weeks old? his little eyes lit up and reached out for it with both hands...

fucking Disney toys. i'm sure they have drugs and subliminal messages in.

Wilkie · 04/11/2007 17:34

;)

What's so wrong with Disney? Sure it is corporate big bucks bollocks but kids love it.

Have just discovered that my wicker basket is heuristic (sp?) play-esq so maybe I should tuck into those tree bark crisps too?!?!?!

Got J a Winnie the Pooh ride on from Asda for £15. Bargainous!

theUrbanDryad · 04/11/2007 17:45

bring me the cryogenically frozen head of Walt Disney!!

(that was to be the name of the first album the band i was in at college was going to release )

Disney is eeeuuuurgh. i love the proper Winnie the Pooh, and i don't mind proper, old Walt Disney stuff, but I want to bomb the disney store every time i walk past it! and it's a PIA cause Pirates of the Carribean is Disney, and they also have the UK license for Nightmare Before Christmas and all the Tim Burton stuff. very annoying...

MrsCarrot · 04/11/2007 17:54

Oh, they get everything don't they, and mainly, for me anyway, I just can't stand all the pink plastic fantastic sparkle stuff.

There are dreadful ethical things too like the peter pan thing but, kids do love it, irritating as that is. Hence - us going tomorrow.

RGEEnie · 04/11/2007 18:05

Lizz - congrats on the job. I worked at Mothercare when I was a student and loved it. But those were the days when I used to go out on the lash straight from work, then bed at 5am, then up for work 2 hours later. I can barely remember those days.

Eah - pmsl at Xmas photos. . 10lb v impressive.

All this weight loss on this thread is making me . If only I had the willpower to run. Instead, I just watch Paula win the NY marathon. Her baby is the same age as our lo's too, so no excusses

UD hope you had a good afternoon yesterday and DH finally apologised.

Had a nice weekend here. Went to a city farm yesterday but P wasn't too impressed by the pigs. There were some v cute piglets aged 2 days, and very fluffly bunnies. Then went to town for a couple of hours on my own, before heading off to a mates house in Sheffield for the evening. oday, DH was running a 10 mile race which goes past my auntie's house, so me & P went there and cheered all the runners by. DH now out at footie (strange scheduling of games = a 7.15 pm kick off + 3pm meet mates in pub).

RGee · 04/11/2007 18:08

Finally returned to my original name...

MrsCarrot · 04/11/2007 18:38

UD - do you have band reunions?

theUrbanDryad · 04/11/2007 18:46

yeah, sometimes. well, i say band reunions. piss ups, mainly!

we were called The Undecided. we thought we were so "edgy".

am disappearing into gloom.

bunnyhunny · 04/11/2007 18:47

oh yes ud - not to mention disney changing the ending of stories like the little mermaid and pocohontas.

I personally wouldnt go to disneyland, but am very about anyone going anywhere at the mo, as it is aaaaggggeeeessss since we travelled....

eandh · 04/11/2007 19:09

Disney is my saviour - whenever I am having a shit day (especially when I was pg with Hattie) a disney film came out and voila 1.5hours peace!!

We have been collecting them over the last few years as they only come out every 8 or 10 years and disney recall all stock when a particular title has ended. Am gutted I remember seeing aladdin when ellie was tiny and didnt get it and now you cant get it and its extorniate money on ebay (when you see the disney dvds on bogof it means that title is about to be pulled at the moment dumbo, peter pan, cars, chicken little, pochanotos, hercules, hunchback of notre dame are all on bogof) and best of all Jungle book is released tomorrow (disney release 2 from the back catalogue each year in May and November) jungle book was dh's fav film as a child so can't wait for ellie to see it.

I sound like a disney freak don't I?

Rgee that timing seems very similar to dh timing of footie

vino - fingers crossed for house

wilkie - am stealing that idea for hattie

mrsc -- have a fab time, when you are back can you let me know what hotel you stayed at and how it was

ud - I never knew you were in a band - did you and dh make up

lizz - have you had a nice day what time did dp and dylan get home?

ummmm now I can't remember who has posted

bunnyhunny · 04/11/2007 19:36

I also swore I woudlnt have any bright plastic beeping things for S's toys. and what does he love the most? yep, you got it - bright plastic beeping things [sigh].

2Happy · 04/11/2007 19:49

Oh aye, my bloody mother has bought ds1 a noisy-flashy-light-beepy-brooming-plastic steering wheel for Christmas, despite me specifically asking her not to (mostly because I know it'll drive me demented in the car and I'll end up crashing or something) then had the cheek to tell my Aunt, who bought ds1 a noisy-flashy-light-beepy-brooming-plastic steering wheel last weekend that it was a bit annoying!!!

Wish I had girls though, 1.5 hours peace in front of disney sounds....well a hell of a sight better than pretending to be combine and tractor all fecking day.

I'm tired

Lizzzombie · 04/11/2007 19:55

Hi!

Finished my quilt - mitred corners and everything. Now, I really should do one for my own baby! (will post photo in a bit)

My baby has grown up in the 30 hours or so that he was away. And...DRUM ROLL PLEASE...1 tooth has been cut (an incisor at the side? weird!) and the top 2 are showing through the gum b ut not cut through at the bottom. And the bottom 2 are also showing up clearly just beneath the gum. He has been medised-ed up and put to bed. I feel we are in for a long night or two coming up! So pleased that they are finally here though!

Our house is full of shiney plastic noisy things. But, his favourite toys are his collection of lids from various jars of sauce/baby food etc! Hours and hours are spent playing with them!

Lizzzombie · 04/11/2007 19:56

2happy I have a nice bottle of red open, do you want a glass? x

Lizzzombie · 04/11/2007 19:57

da dah!

woo hoo...I get post number 100 !

yes, I know I am a saddo! x

bunnyhunny · 04/11/2007 20:04

congrats on the teeth liz. teething just goes on and on and on doesnt it? I wanna see your quilt - bet your sewing is soooo much better than mine!! I hemmed 2 pairs of trousers today, and took up a t-shirt. seem to spend more time cursing at the bloody machine than sewing!

2happy - and i bet he will love the steering wheel too! I tried removing batteries to stop the godawful noise, but then S didn't play with them. so I felt bad and put them back in.
