Hi everyone! I made a new thread as we were at the end of the last one. A new thread for the new year! I changed the title as we don’t have newborns anymore!

@Magpie21 @Busylizzie85 my little one is the same with the short attention span. I think she actually watches hardly any tv, but it’s on in the background a lot of the time when we are at home. It’s probably more for me than her 😂 She probably only sits and watches it for 1 or 2 mins at a time and she’ll stop playing and have a little wiggle if there’s a catchy song on: I think she actually actively watched a lot more when she was younger as she was obsessed with hey duggee and at times it was the only thing that would stop her from crying lol

She has become a nightmare at mealtimes though, as in as soon as i head to kitchen she has a full on meltdown until I dish up her dinner. I don’t think it’s just hunger related because I’ve tried giving her a bigger afternoon snack etc. I think she just wants to be involved in prepping the food because when I pick her up and show her what I’m doing she calms down. I’ve tried giving her a
Bowl and whisk or wooden spoon so she can “help” but it doesn’t always work. We’re hopefully going to get her one of those learning towers so she can be at kitchen counter height and that might help.

mrssunshinexxx · 19/11/2021 22:05

@Gigitree ooh what Are these towers can you send me a link pls.

Magpie21 · 20/11/2021 06:53

@Gigitree I knew what you mean about meal prep time. It's sometimes the most difficult part of my day! In the past couple of days I have had success giving my daughter dry pasta to move from one bowl to another and also colouring in her high chair. Most of the time she'll be at my feet getting hangry though!

Gigitree · 20/11/2021 16:26

@mrssunshinexxx they seem to sell them lots of places online all different styles but the same idea. Here’s one website I was looking at them on.

www.littlehelper.co.uk/products/little-helper-funpod-kitchen-learning-tower-05

How are you and your little ones getting on? How is it having a newborn and a toddler?

@Magpie21 it’s definitely the most stressful part of my day where we have the most tantrums and meltdowns. I’m using my slow cooker a lot and trying to prep things during her nap so I don’t have as many meltdowns 😂😩
That’s a great idea about the dried pasta and colouring. Does she actually colour much? Grace still just tried to chew the crayons. Did she do well with the pasta? I worry that Grace would just try to eat it or chuck it everywhere 😂

mrssunshinexxx · 21/11/2021 01:35

Thank you @Gigitree that looks cool idea!
Aw it's great thank you so much easier than going from 0-1. It's like she's always been here Nelly loves her like really does ! Gives her 1000 kisses a day the hardest part for Nelly has been not understanding why I can't pick her up it's really broke my heart I've defo done way too much to over compensate / getting on the floor to play with her and loads of kneeling bending down but my wound is looking ok just hope by next Thurs when hubby will leave for work it's all doing well as I need to be able to lift her then and hoping to feel like driving as will be much easier than pushing double buggy everywhere initially as it's really heavy and very hilly where we live,
We are already talking about number 3 I know I'm crazy but we defo want more !

Is anyone else thinking about number 2?

Gigitree · 22/11/2021 21:45

Aw that is sooooo sweet! Aw bless her it must be such a lot for her to get her little head around. Sounds like you’re all doing really really well though.
Wow talking about number 3 already!? You are superwoman!

We are definitely considering number 2 (although some days I’m tearing my hair out and thinking one is enough 😂)
But think we’re going to wait until later next year to start trying so Grace will be closer to 3 once a sibling arrives.
Anyone else?

mrssunshinexxx · 22/11/2021 22:11

@Gigitree we defo want a big family 🥰 atleast Nelly will be at pre school by the time another would join us so I would still only have 2 at home majority of the day x

Gigitree · 23/11/2021 16:08

That’s amazing! No time like the present they say you are at your most fertile after having a baby 😉😂😂
How many do you think you’ll have?

We always said we want two, so If we’re lucky enough to have another they will be our last, so I’m happy to wait a little bit longer so Grace will be a little older.

mrssunshinexxx · 23/11/2021 16:51

@Gigitree haha don't scare me im relying on exclusively breast feeding as my contraception 😳 really have to wait 12m as my scar was not in a good way. We would both like 4 but after this last pregnancy being so rough 3 might be more likely x

Picklesbaby · 24/11/2021 16:09

We’ve finished for Xmas now have bought jj a walking barking dog , v tech drum and fisher price vacuum, tool trolley and doodle water mat and some bath crayons .
Have bought a new kitchen as a joint present as he has ripped the doors off dds old one 🤦🏻‍♀️ He plays with her ice cream cart every day aswell.
I’m still wondering where to put my tree he’s like a tornado !

I’m currently staying away from baby as much as possible as I’ve just tested positive for covid 😔

mrssunshinexxx · 24/11/2021 16:50

@Picklesbaby urgh covid the gift that keeps on giving! Hope you don't feel too rough with it. I've also got an aqua doodle mat x

Gigitree · 26/11/2021 09:11

Oh wow they sound like fab presents. Love the idea of the aqua doodle mat, deffo going to get Grace one of those, thanks for the idea ❤️

So sorry to hear about you getting covid, I think people with kids who are school age or teachers seem to be the ones catching it at the moment. Really hope your symptoms are only mild and you feel much better soon x

Gigitree · 26/11/2021 09:12

Meant to tag @Picklesbaby above x

Smiffette · 27/11/2021 21:43

I was just wondering if any of you have changed up your bedtime routines with LOs since they've been a bit older?

mrssunshinexxx · 28/11/2021 02:12

@Smiffette haven't actively changed anything I don't think we have always bathed / showered every night since she was tiny now she brushes her teeth in bathroom and sits on potty never does anything on it yet. then she has a play and runs about in the nuddy has some nappy free time then get dressed / sing then quite alot of booked and breast feed she doesn't feed to sleep though x

Smiffette · 28/11/2021 20:53

@mrssunshinexxx we haven't made big changes just introduced as bedtime story that we never did before. She seems to like it and it talks through a couple of children going to bed so it sets her up for it

Gigitree · 28/11/2021 20:53

@Smiffette Same as @mrssunshinexxx we haven’t changed anything. Nappy free time, bath, try my best to get some moisturiser on her as she charges about her bedroom, manage to wrangle her into pj’s, then milk & a story and then bed, she takes a good 20mins or so to settle.

Are you feeling like your routine needs to change?

Smiffette · 28/11/2021 20:57

@Gigitree sounds like us since the introduction story.
She's always taken a little while to settle I guess I'm looking to a way I can slowly move away from her falling asleep on me and I at

Smiffette · 28/11/2021 20:58

@Gigitree sorry finger slipped!!

Move away from falling asleep on me and instead laying in her bed and falling asleep there. I felt reading a story would help that transition as she can lay in bed whilst I read to her.

Gigitree · 29/11/2021 22:06

Yes I know what you mean @Smiffette
When she was much younger we would have to keep her upright after each feed for like 20mins so we ended up cuddling her to sleep after her milk, but as she got older she got way too fidgety for this and we wanted to gently encourage her to fall asleep independently and so we found reading a book after her milk helped with this too.

Busylizzie85 · 23/12/2021 11:43

Just thought I'd come on here and wish everyone a Merry Christmas! I hope you all have a wonderful second Christmas with your little ones this year will certainly be different with them running around and unwrapping everything 😊🎄

Magpie21 · 23/12/2021 12:07

@Busylizzie85 Merry Christmas! You're right, this Christmas is feeling very different already! There is no sitting around watching Christmas movies like last year! 😅 It's constant tidying up with Mr Tumble on in the background. Ha ha. I'm so excited for present opening this year! My daughter is getting a high chair and cot for her doll which I know she will love! Hope everyone is well xx

Gigitree · 30/12/2021 20:37

Belated Merry Christmas all, hope everyone had a lovely day! Xx

Zoey92 · 18/09/2022 16:44

Hi guys. Long shot as its been so so long. Just seeing if there's still a thread going to see how you're all getting on and how all your (not so little anymore) ones are coming along. Hope you're all well xx

Cornishbumpkin · 18/09/2022 21:05

Hey, wow can't believe how long it's been! How are you all? We are all good down here, still just the one little one. He's obsessed with all thing wheels and motors, particularly motorbikes and monster trucks!
