hello, we're over here

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
milkyJammy · 30/10/2007 10:26

I agree it's sad when it's so quiet on here Fury. I do need to do RL things, but I like having MN chat too.

milkyJammy · 30/10/2007 10:27

I have days like that oo, Fury, where the whole world seems to be out and all my messages/emails/phone calls remain unanswered.

IamDaisy · 30/10/2007 10:27

LMN, I do hope you realise you have contravened the Health and Safety regulations as anything over 20kg is deemed to be a 2 "man" lift! You must feel like Superwoman achieveing all that. Am very impressed.

DS fine this morning....his bump seems to have knocked some sense into him as, apart from giving DD a huge fright by jumping out at her and shouting BOO, he has been good as gold this morning. They were both inconsolable; DS cos he'd scared her, and DD cos of the fright. I had to BF her to calm her down after she'd screamed for 5 minutes.

DD went from 8 last night till 5 this morning, fed for 15 mins then went back to sleep till 7, which is the best night we've had in over two weeks. She also had the wettest nappy ever, so looks like things are back to normal. I didn't give her any solids at all yesterday and am thinking that's what's been upsetting her, so am going to take a step back with it and see what happens. I've also been mixing things with formula as BM makes it go too runny, so she may be reacting to that as well.

Ben10 is popular in this house too, but DS gets really giddy and starts fighting imaginary aliens and getting silly so we don't watch it very often.

HellHathNoFury · 30/10/2007 10:29

It has long been the general concensus that 'virtual friends' are usually very transient though. I had thought that on here we were the exception but perhaps I am slowly being proved wrong.

Having said that I am still looking forward to hitting the shops with Bumper in a few weeks ;-)

HellHathNoFury · 30/10/2007 10:30

oh in RL yes most people never answer me

I meant I had sent emails to some recently quiet MN buddies with no reply

IamDaisy · 30/10/2007 10:36

I have no idea how to get photos off my phone Jammy. I've got a few good ones of the DCs on it! I trawled through all of DSs baby pictures recently and some of the video clips we have of him....it always brings a tear to my eye.

DD got a new toy when we were away....it's a big cuddly bull and it is gorgeous. We were in the shop and she started getting all giddy and chattering away and we picked up every toy and waved it at her before finding the one that was making her giddy. She even tries to say moo......it sounds more live Bvhoo, but she's trying, so we've called him Moo! I'll get some pics of them on later!

IKWYM about it being quiet HHNF. I'm sure it'll pick up again during th winter months when it's too mizzy to get out and about!

LittleMissNorty · 30/10/2007 10:53

Ohh I didn't know that about a 20kg limit for 2 men lift....I'm very pissed off about it still....why pay a delivery charge? If our van had been big enough, we would have gone and got it ourselves....

When we ordered the kitchen, IKEA charge £90 for delivery but the guy who done our order had just handed in his notice and knocked off the charge for us - and gave us a voucher for a free meal, cake and drink

Fury - I know what you mean....I miss the days when it was very chatty on here and although you are all "virtual" friends, you probably know more about me than my RL friends, cos I can be very open on here IYKWIM and I'm not really like that in RL. I absolutely love seeing everyones pics on FB though.....there are a few that need to update theirs....!

I also have days when everyone ignores me ....btw I answered your invite to be S's friend on FB and it proceeded to collapse on me!

HellHathNoFury · 30/10/2007 11:01

yes I can't help but think that modern society does nothing for loneliness. Would be interesting to see what life would be like 100 years from now... will people even communicate at all or just live in a little technical bubble?!

Having said that I wouldn't have met you lot without some basic technology!

LMN - if you have another with FB at some point, DS is desperate for some mates and currently his only friend is our dog!!

IamDaisy · 30/10/2007 11:06

I'll be his friend HHNF

but then again you didn't invite me

HellHathNoFury · 30/10/2007 11:09

Yes I did Daisy!
I sent out a mass invite to all my MN buddies on FB!
If it didn't get to you am v sorry, it must be a FB error (how unusual but I def did it

I shall do it again (when the moron behind me stops looking at my screen)

IamDaisy · 30/10/2007 11:09

I think in a hundred years (well maybe a bit longer) we will have evolved to have processors in our brains and will have lost the use of all muscles excpet those controlling our fingers! Real exercise will have been replaced by virtual (look at the games available now for Wii) and paper books and newspapers will no longer exist.

If the world still exists at all that is.....

IamDaisy · 30/10/2007 11:11

I found it HHNF...have confirmed

HellHathNoFury · 30/10/2007 11:13

Daisy... I think perhaps me (and maybe you?) think too much. I often wonder if I have created a wonderful innocent life in a hellhole world.
Saddens me when I see how many people in my area are on the sex offenders register and how much violence there is and I look at him sometimes and think he deserves so much better.

IamDaisy · 30/10/2007 11:18

I try not to think about the horrible stuff too much HHNF.

I found out I was pg with DS on 9/11. I just stood there watching the TV with silent tears rolling down my cheeks thinking "what sort of a world is this to bring a child into?" My workmates thought I was just upset at what was happening!

sorry for lowering the mood of the place.

He's five now, and the world is not such a bad place really

Right am off to do some more housework before I get any more maudlin!

Oh, I accepted the invite and it crashed, so don't know if it worked or not

Sputnik · 30/10/2007 11:20

Hey if you want to discuss mucus Fury I'm your girl! 2 v. snotty children here, what do you want to know: colour? Frequency?

HellHathNoFury · 30/10/2007 11:21

I am too maudlin!
My mother says it too!

Ok I will try and cheer up. LMN crashed too when she tried to do it!
Bugger.

Well if you do a search for 'dogbook' (yes yes I know) it brings up an app called 'my babybook', I installed that. You can create a 'mini profile' for your baby. It's quite cute.

milkyJammy · 30/10/2007 11:23

Well the (very nice looking, shame I'm dressed as a scummy mummy today ) man from Dell has been and replaced my laptop screen, so you are all shiny and line-free now

FB collapsed on me when I tried to accept your invitation too, Fury, will try again though.

IamDaisy · 30/10/2007 11:24

hey sputnik I didn't get to chat with you the other night.

We've had lots of runny noses here too, but thankfully no more vomming. DD has been asleep since 9:30 though so whatever she has got is obviously still working it's way out of her system.

HellHathNoFury · 30/10/2007 11:26

yay! Bodily fluid chat! My favourite.

IamDaisy · 30/10/2007 11:30

oops...just heard the wake up call! Catch you all later!

milkyJammy · 30/10/2007 11:34

Just put the newly found pic of DD at 14 mins old on my MN profile - can you believe we didn't notice her colour was a little odd at the time?

Sputnik · 30/10/2007 11:38

Well ladies, the highlight of my day so far was suceeding in extracting 2 large lumps of snot from Baby Sputnik's nose. Glad you asked now, eh? Anyway, I have to go and make mini quiches with DD again, catch you later

LittleMissNorty · 30/10/2007 12:01

I have to admit to getting snot out of DDs nose with a ear-bud ....sure you're not supposed to do that but I'm very careful....and its very satisfying ....she is very used to it now...cos then I go round the creases of her ears and she turns her head to one side now . When she sees the flannel coming towards her she screws her eyes up tight and really laughs.....

Well Fury, YOU wanted discussions on snot and the like...I have an aversion to it....and the sleep that she gets in her eyes (I am very gentle there though)

MJ - I didn't get any pics of DD till she was an hour old (had a CS and they dragged her and DH off while I was sewn up) but vaguely remember she was mauve when she was yanked out.

How heavy was your DD - you were about 5 weeks early wasn't you? Did she have to go to SCBU or anything?

milkyJammy · 30/10/2007 12:16

I hate getting the "sleepies" out of her eye.

LMN she was just short of 7lb, and had a couple of days in scbu, to "thin down" her blood (too high concentration of red cells so they replaced some of her blood with saline), treat jaundice and give antibiotics.

LittleMissNorty · 30/10/2007 12:19

Blimey - must have been scary MJ...I remember being desperate to get it over and done with....but very pleased to get to 37 weeks. Your DD was a good weight then for 35 weeks (mine was 6lb 7oz).

Right, DD fed and asleep....my turn now (only for food though unfortunately )
