Choc- Because they are post natal classes you can take the LOs along. At the aqua aerobics they sit in their cars seats on the side of the pool. They look so cute all lined up. Yesterday there were about 9 of us so 9 little babies. Anabel just slept through the whole thing. Most the babies were older than her. Once your babies have had their jabs you can take them for a quick swim afterwards so I will deffo be doing that in a few months. They loved it.

The post natal class at the hospital is today and my first session of 6. I think they said that the babies lie on mats in the middle of the room or can sit in their car seats. I'll let you know how it goes.

Had a major fight with DH last night. He comes home and turns the computer straight on and stays there all night. He doesn't like watching telly so doesn't come in the lounge and I get pi**ed off because I want a conversation and to spend time with him. He will do anything if asked to but doesn't do anything if not asked IYSWIM. I am a right bossy cow so I know why he gets annoyed at me. Anyway he slept on the couch without blankets shame I felt so sorry for him but more mad than sorry so I didn't bring him blankets. He wore a big jacket. This morning he was obviously sorry as he bought me breakfast in bed but we still haven't really talked properly. Its always me who has to start .

Its probably mainly stress of being new parents and tiredness for both of us.

Pixiefish · 10/01/2008 09:43

fiona- it is the stress of being new parents and also him trying to adjust to having to do things of an evening to help you

Choudru, Callum dropped through 4 percentiles in 6 weeks. He started on the 50th, dropped off the chart and is now on the 0.2th. so slowly getting there.

I feel a lot better today, still bunged up and getting dizzy spells, but have actually managed to have a bath and get dressed today. Callum slept from 11-4 last night and then woke at 8am. He is getting better at sleep now

Morning everyone!

Wow, what a sleep! Ellie slept from 9pm til 2.45am!!! She then only woke up at 5.45am and 9.30am! I got lots of sleep and feel so much better. Hopefully this is the start of her sleeping better at night now, especially as we seem to be sorting out the colic problem.

I actually have to try and get out of the house very soon as DP and I are going to register Ellie today so i want to have been to Asda for dinner stuff and got Clubgate out of the way before he gets home at 2.30ish. Talk about pressure! I've only done one appointment and i was 20 minutes late for that! I have no idea how i'm going to get on with baby massage on Tuesday - it starts at 10.00am! That's like the middle of the night for me!

Choudru - i'm sure Sara's weight is nothing to worry about. If your HV wasn't worried then i wouldn't worry either! It is a concern, but you shouldn't let it dominate your thoughts. I'm sure she's fine.

Do you have LOM's email address? I need to send her those Heroes DVDs i promised her but i dont think she's been online for ages.

LOL @ the courgette incident. Ratatouille anyone?

Fiona - sorry you had a row with DH last night. Having a baby really does test your relationship. I'm finding myself getting pissed off at myself for being so anal with DP when he has DD. I watch him like a hawk and i wish i wasn't so overprotective. I think anyone without such a thick skin would have lumped me one by now, but he's very patient with me lol. So i reckon it's the stresses of having a new baby and the sleep-interrupted nights that have you being peed off with your DH. It's perfectly normal. Maybe tho you should mention to him that you'd like adult interaction with him when he comes home from work? We all know that men are hopeless at mind reading! DP and I have introduced a laptop amnesty from 10pm now. We too both sit here with our faces glued to our screens and then before you know it, it's 11pm and he wants to go to bed. What's more annoying tho is that he always has his earphones in as he's listening to music or making music so i always have to wave at him before i can speak to him!! At 10pm, both laptops get switched off now so that we can at least have an hour of "quality" time together Perhaps you could ask your DH to do the same?

Loopy - think i'll give the prune juice a miss! So glad your little DD3 is a honey! How lovely! I have to admit that other than when she cries because of colic, Ellie is also a honey and absolutely LOVES being in the sling too. I've given the Freedom sling another go and have put her in it facing my chest and she loves it. Trouble is, she very quickly falls asleep like it and then we have the wonky head problem! I try and adjust her in the sling to get her to lay down in it but it just ends up with the sling being really tight on her head and it just goes a bit wrong so i end up putting her down. Still, I love walking around the house with her on my front. I haven't braved going out like it yet tho. I'm too paranoid that she'll fall out!!

Sparkly - glad you are feeling better today. It makes such a difference when you can get a good chunk of sleep, doesn't it. You've done more than me this morning - i've not even showered yet and am still sitting here in my sloppy trackies and my bed hair!!

Right, Ellie is asleep so i really should crack on and get ready for the day. Have a nice day every one!

LizzieO · 10/01/2008 11:38

bugger just wrote great big long post then flipped back a page and lost it agghhhh

anyhoo - just quickly, feeling much better today, not so tired

Ollie seemed to like the gro-bag, slept from 10.00 until 4.00ish then again till 7.00ish, he only seems to feed for 5mins then goes to sleep again, wonder if i left him if he wld go back to sleep again DS being a realy honey this am, kissing Ollie and playing with him, calling him my baby ahhhhh

loopmumsy - don't feel embarrassed about having gorgeous little girl, thats fantastic, lucky you

Jarm / Sparkly - hope you get well soon !!!!

Fiona 76 - your lucky your LO settles in car seat, Ollie screams his tiny face off if he's in it for more than 5 mins sorry to hear about aggro with hubby, i am often a computer widow too [ resigned sigh emoticon]
praps you cld make it up tonite with tasty grub, vino and nooky

Choudru - sorry your worried about Saras weight, i guess the thing is that she isn't starving and shes getting what she needs otherwise she wld let you know all about it, wouldn't she ?

RG - not sure about baby acne, hoepfully it will die down, d'you think its maybe soemthing you have eaten coming thru breast milk ??

hope you all have splendid days
Lxxxxxx

Hi I'm back from hospital exercise class and it was great. There were loads of people there must be everyones new years resolutions. It started at 10.15 with a warm up and then there was a circuit and then pelvic floor/ stomach work on the floor and then a quick talk about exercises to do and when to start different exercises.

It was great to see so many babies and meet lots of mums. I thought anabel was getting big but I'm sure she was the smallest baby there. The babies lie on mats in the middle of the room its so cute!!! Some crying, some rolling (the older ones), some just chilling.

RG/Lizzie- I think a computer cut off time is a great idea might suggest that tonight. I also find myself watching and cringing when DH has DD. He is brilliant with her and very confident but just does things differently. eg- when he gives her a bath he gets her all revved up and holds her in funny ways and she cries and gets stressed. When I do it I make it a really relaxing, quiet experience so shes ready for bed afterwards. I try to just stay away cause I should just be thankful that he is so good with her but i find it hard not to be my annoying, bossy self. I think kids need the balance of there mums being gentle and dads being a bit more rough and tumble. I don't mind him doing it at different times of the day but close to bed time makes me a bit mad. God I'm such a b**ch. Anyway I'm off to think happy loving thoughts. I do love him so much and realise I've got a goodun'.

sarahloumadam · 10/01/2008 13:13

Hi all
Your exercise class sounds fab Fiona, wish they did something like that here.

RG and Fiona - I am also a bit of a madam around the DH when he has DS. He is so slow at changing his nappy and changing his clothes that DS eventually gets pissed off and starts crying so he stops to soothe him which just seems to piss DS off more! But i read a very good piece of advice along the lines of they may do things differently but at least they are helping so now I try to bite my tounge and walk away and let him find out for himself. we have our moments but on the whole he is fab!

jetgirl · 10/01/2008 14:24

fiona - my DH does the same, if it's not the PC it's the PS3, one day the PS3 might meet with a little accident!! Not the PC though, or how could I mumsnet It really winds me up, and I totally sympathise with you, love RG's solution though, might try it myself.

Hope you're feeling better soon, Sparkly and Jarm.

RG - glad Ellie's sleep seems to be improving. William's does too, have had a few nights when I've had solid blocks of sleep rather than lots of little bits, and I feel much more human because of it.

RGPargy · 10/01/2008 14:48

Lizzie - how annoying re the big post!! Done that plenty of times! It's good that Ollie likes his grobag - that's one less thing to worry about. Dont think the acne is food related as normally anything that i eat that affects her (i.e. lovely gorgeous onions, ggrrr) plays her tummy up. I think she's just late at developing the acne that i know a few of our babies have had.

Fiona - The exercise class sounds great! It's brilliant that you can bring your LOs along too. Lovely!

Fiona/Sarah - I'm glad i'm not the only one who watches with a buttoned mouth when they're DP/DHs have the LOs. DP gave Ellie a bath for the first time last night. I showed him how to hold her using a teddy bear, but honestly, my heart was in my mouth! I just said a few encouraging words like "watch her little face in the water" (it's not as bad as it sounds, i just didn't want her face to flop forward into the [a bit too deep] water!). DP also takes forever to change a nappy and clothes too. They will learn in their own time tho. I'm just really really grateful that he wants to help! Bless him!

Jetgirl - Deffo do it with the PS3 - it's so addictive that they forget the time and forget that they have wives/children/homes etc.

I've been quite busy since my last post! I've managed to have a shower AND wash my hair (i never normally manage to do both), sweep the floors, hoover the conservatory and PUT ON MAKE UP!!!!!!!!

Wonders will never cease, eh?!

Pixiefish · 10/01/2008 16:30

RG- i cleaned my oven today- only been trying to find time since Christmas day

silkcushion · 10/01/2008 17:21

stop it you lot you're putting me to shame!!!!

Pixiefish · 10/01/2008 17:38

silk- no, that's ALL I managed to do this morning lol

silkcushion · 10/01/2008 18:01

I was still in my nightie at 11.30am Not like me I'm usually a bit more motivated. I was obviously spoilt by a good night's sleep. Megan slept from 11 til 5!

She had her jabs this afternoon. Was all smiley and cute with the nurse. SHe was cooing, gurgling and chatting away and then .........

I've never seen her so upset and screaming so much . Took a very long time and lots of cuddles for her to calm down. I'm not looking forward to the next lot. The practice nurse looked like she was goingt o cry too! She said it was the part of her job she hated the most.

Quick update on yetserday's hospital appointment - senior consultant said no worries, nothing wrong with ehr ehart

And I visited the nursery today to organise what's happening next month when I go back to work. They were so lovely and can't wait for Megan to start as she will be their littlest baby. She will be fine I'm sure. It will be me sitting in the car park with mascara running down my face!

silkcushion · 10/01/2008 18:02

sorry about the million typos

DanJARMouse · 10/01/2008 18:07

Evening all

Had a bad night, but that wasnt daniel's fault - was just me! Getting used to being woken, so am waking in anticipation lol

HV arrived this morning, Daniel now weighs 10lbs 10oz, is 56cm long and has a head circumferance of 39cm. He is just below 50th line for weight, just on 50th line for length and on 75th line for head

Got a phone call this morning about a job I had applied for, to go for a "chat" this afternoon! Went down there at 2.30pm and got offered the job! Its only a care assistant role in a nursing home, but its 3 night shifts a week, 7.30pm-7.30am. Just waiting for references and CRB check to come back and I can start! Am very excited!

sparklygothkat · 10/01/2008 18:16

I know this is naughty but is anyone interested in a brand new highchair? let me know..

Had a phone call today from the eye clinic, I asked for Callum to be referred as DS1 and DD1 are both very long sighted and have lazy eyes, Dd2 is slightly long sighted as well, but doesn't need glasses. So have an appointment tomorrow, just before BF clinic, as its in the same building.

Well done JARM- I used to work as a care assistant and also did the night shifts I loved it the old people are great. They really appreciate when you chat to them. Some are grumpy but quite funny with it.

silkcushion · 10/01/2008 19:40

Congrats on the new job Jarm - I don't blame you for getting out to work. I go back full time in February and I have to admit I'm looking forward to it.

berrybliss · 10/01/2008 20:12

Evening all,

Easy- Ella and Darcy are beautiful, with their ringlets. i bet you must get stopped by strangers all the time complimenting them! Does Marnie resemble either of them? You have to post some pictures when you have a moment.

RG- lol over Clubs i like you attempt at the cover up! Coby had really bad milk spots/baby acne they were on his hair line and really bad on his cheaks. They took a few weeks to heal but have gone now. When they had stopped being read and just dried out i pit a little olive oil on them to help with the dry skin.
As for cooing he only started really chatting away at 6 weeks. He's laughing now its so funny.

Chocolate- I co-sleeps as i find it easier with BF as he doesn't actually wake up he just fusses has a feed and then just falls back into a deep sleep. It aslo means i don't get up so i don't really notice the time so don't feel as tired in the moring!

Jetgirl- That image of you and DD is so sweet!

I've had a really busy day today and am so tired. We had Cobys 8 week check at 10 and then his jabs. It was awful as he doesn't ever cry so came as bit of a shock to hear such an awful scream!

Then i went straight to my breastfeeding training group.

I'm training to be a breastfeeding councelor. As i go to a young mums group, (i've been offering advice and encouragemnt but thought it best to get trained properly) and i think that allot of the mums-to-be need some extra encouragement and information towards breastfeeding. (and will probably respond better to information coming from a peer) Its a six week course so i'm really looking forward to it.
The plan also is for our group to help new mums in hospital, as Poole hospital is so understaffed allot of mums aren't given that intial support in the first crutial days.

Luckly i had my baby in Dorchester Hospital which is excellant at making sure you recieve lots of help and information, and make sure that if your planning to bf that you leave hospital happy and with lots of leaflets for extra help.

Then after that i had my young mums group.
a girl brought her 5 week prem baby in (it was his due date today) He was so tiny, but doing well and she was also doing well.

Sorry about long post,

hope everyone has a lovely relaxing evening full of sleeping babies!

berrybliss · 10/01/2008 20:17

oops loads of typos and sp receive red (not read) *sleep (not sleeps)oh darn there is loads but i hope you get what i mean, i am literate (PROMISE)

berrybliss · 10/01/2008 20:18

lol *are not is, maybe that looked like i was trying to be witty but just more bad grammar lol.

fiona76 · 10/01/2008 20:47

Berry- Well done for becoming a BF councillor. I had little/no support in hospital for BF and relied on my mum to help. Luckily DD is a good feeder. I think BF rates are quite low in the uk and the more people like you the better.

ChocolateHobnob · 10/01/2008 21:19

Hi all

Berry - how did Coby cope after the jabs? My baby is having her 8 week jabs tomorrow and am dreading it... has anyone who has been through this got any tips? did you BF during them? My book recommends this...

Hi Loopy! Glad your DD3 is such a darling.

Fiona, your class sounds fab! Nothing like that round here, sadly. Oh and have just eaten too much chocolate. I'm using BF as an excuse...

RG, how's Ellie?

JARM, good luck with the new job!

OK, so we had a great night last night! The usual epic performance getting lo to sleep, but once she was asleep she stayed so for - drumroll - FIVE HOURS!!! Minor miracle. I had just about lost it to be honest with trying to get her to sleep - it was as though she realized I was at the end of my tether and threw me a lifebelt. I feel so good today!
