Hi all - how is everyone?
I think my hormones must be winding down as I'm really tired today (not helped that Elliot seems to be changing his feed/sleep pattern and fed until 11 last night then was up for a two hour feed fest at 3 and again at 7 - it had to happen some time I suppose and I'm grateful for the rest I've had so far but oooh has it hit me now!)

Sparkly - you seem to have everything so well sorted (tips please? ). I am very of your serenity coping with 3 and going out all the while. I struggled today meeting a mate for a cuppa with only 2 and I'm dreading when DH goes back to working away.

Pixiefish - hope you're a bit happier now and that the bf is going ok. It's lovely to see your elder child being so tender to a new one isn't it. We got some fab piccies of DS1 holding Elliot the other day (at least I I think we have - we used a disposable camera as I still can't find the digital one and can't download from my phone grrr)

Hope everyone else is keeping ok despite not posting much

iris, I actually have 4 children, but the others are all at school during the day so I can get out and about easy during the day.

I will try and find a website for you with tips on folding as its hard to describe.

great - just make me feel even worse!!!! (sorry for getting it wrong by the way)
I did manage to fold the muslins down small enough in the end and put both boys in washables today (after 3 to 4 soaked pairs of trousers per day in disposables DS1 is in the same pair still yippee!) not entirely sure how I'm going to get the flourescent yellow stains out of the muslins now there's no sunshine but maybe I'll just wait until summer (not like anyone's going to see is it!)

Meant to ask you by the way, who was the artist on your montage of Callum? (the whole thing was really beautiful and made my cry loads)

Pixie i've heard it can sometimes take a week for milk to come in and in some cases you may not even know it's come in!! If you're really worried, talk to your HV or MW, but i'm sure you'll be fine as long as your DD is thriving. Chin up!

Pixiefish · 06/11/2007 08:10

She's screaming all night Rgso I'm not getting any sleep- that's the problem.

With dd1 I got very Jordan-esque when my milk came in, that's why I'm wondering what's happening. I'm experessing a bit to start her off but it's colostrum

RGPargy · 06/11/2007 10:16

awww bless you, it must be so tough for you. Is she sleeping during the day or screaming all day too? If she's just screaming at night then she might be missing the closeness of being with you. Being born is as much of a shock to baby as it is to you too. When is your HV due to visit?

Pixie - FWIW I didn't really notice my milk had come in this time and it took a good few days for my boobs to balloon. As I said on your thread, DS1 screamed loads night & day for what seemed an eternity and didn't seem to be getting anything substantial for days after his birth too. As RG said, I think some LOs suffer with the shock of being born more than others. DS1 is a sensitive little soul and has always needed load of reassurance (in the early days holding him or skin to skin wasn't enough either - he had to be tightly swaddled and rocked constantly (I got DH to do lots of that at night to give me a break), but it did pass in time) I do feel for you - the lack of sleep is murderous isn't it Your hospital MW is still responsible for your LOs health for the first 30 days so if you get no joy from your HV do give them a call.

sorry - forgot to add CONGRATULATIONS Anna and ELB and welcome to Amelia and Jessica

DD came home for a surprise visit at the weekend (much teariness on my part - I've missed her loads) and met her new little brother for the first time (amidst even more teariness from me )She's smitten by Elliot and it was wonderful to see her but such a short visit. DS1 was thrilled to see her too but can't understand where/why she's gone again I managed to get some pictures of "my three babies" together though know they're going to look like she's the mum of the 2 littlies hey ho. Roll on Christmas when she's home for 2 whole weeks!

By the way, consider my lucky streak of sleep well and truly over Elliot's decided to just sleep during the day now [baggy eyed and haggared (or is that Hagrid) face emoticon]
I now officially feel like a parent of a newborn again

oooooooooo more babies

Today has been a nightmare...

Last night at 10pm we had a major power failure in the area, and the power wasn't restored for 12 hours, I had to feed Callum in pitch darkness, which is hard.. couldn't leave the candles burning. It was freezing cold and horrible.

Anyway today was Callum's hip Ultrasound. We drive 20 mins. to the hospital, try and find a parking space, and in the end I had to jump out with Callum while DH drove around to find a space. Get to the dept. and my mobile goes. It was the school, saying that DS1's legs have gone into spasms and could I pick him up? I asked them to phone my MIL and get them to pick him up for me.
Get into the US room and the doctor asks me how old Callum is, I explained that he was premature with a corrected age of 0 weeks. She said he was too young to have the test, and when I questioned as to why he was actually having the US done, she said 'because he was breech' I said 'well he defo. wasn't breech, I remember the birth' So after all that, we were sent away and he didn't have the US and never needed it anyway....

Milk is in- had a couple of good nights, last night was bad again but ho hum.

Popped ont he scales tonight, I lost a stone when I'd come out of hospital after having her and I've lost another stone in the last week, combination of water adn eating sensibly I spose. Only a stone to go and I'll be back to pre dd1 weight- really motivated to do it now
