sorry about the dog jetgirl. we had this a few months ago with one of my mum's dogs

LizzieO · 05/01/2008 23:05

Hello all

DH watching really crap horror film at mo, so using time to catch up on MN

I'm hoping that all our little bubsies are in the land of nod right now
Had nice chilled out day to day, no accident for DS as sticking him on potty religiously. Ollie looked especially cute as i had him in tiny jeans and sweatshirt rather than his usual comfy babygro's

Jetgirl - sorry to hear about your dog, have been there many times and no how sad it is to lose beloved pet

Sarahlou - i know what you mean, Ollie looks absolutely tiny in his cot, we just about have room to fit in room at the end of our bed, he is such a noisy little boy when hes not in deep sleep, he snuffling and sucking his fingers ans rustling around, mad to think that something so tiny can make so much noice

ChocHobNob - Ollie still doing clawing thing if he gets over upset (which is usually when changing his nappy, or getting him dressed after bath) luckily my DH is very good with nail clippers and regularly clips nails on DS and Ollie - he sometimes get his little finger into his eyes aswell and makes them all red - can't remember when they get control of their limbs

Choudru - sorry to hear about sick incident - the times when Ds has vomited have been awful, espesh when at night and everything gets covered in awful stinking vomit. in fact DS did vomit the other morning over the l/room rug - it still stinks despite vigorous scrubbing

Littleold me - what a bloody cheek your FIL has, what the hecky-bleedin-peck does he know about BF, to be honest i remember my dad saying something like "goodness is he feeding again" its like the baby will feed when it needs to, and somedays it will feed more often then others, thats just the way it is, i don't think it is possible to overfeed a BF baby is it ? i mean they will feed more when they need to bring in more milk from you, usually when they have a little growth spurt

AM now starting to feel conscious about trying to lost preggy fat, i have put on two stone, difficult tho cos i don't want to diet whilst still BF, and i find the whole diet thing so bloody boring, i have joined gym tho' so i guess iw ill need to get off my sizeable ass, the sooner i'm out of my bloody maternity clothes the better

nighty night all
Lxxxx

DanJARMouse · 06/01/2008 05:43

Come on, own up, who stole my sleepy baby?

I have now been awake since 3am..... I am NOT laughing

silkcushion · 06/01/2008 07:01

Jarm - sorry about yr crap night's sleep. hope yr back in bed now.

Megan did brilliantly. settled by 11.30pm - small cry after her final feed. woke at 2.15 for a tiny feed, woke at 5.50 but i gave her a dummy and she slept til 6.40. is feeding now - what a good girl!!!!!!!

Lizzie - I don't know how true this is but people tell me that when bf yr body holds on to fat so it's v difficult to lose babyweight - sounds like a good excuse to me. how will you get to the gym with 2 littlies? i've only managed it once with one baby (not sure a gentle swim followed by 10 mins chatting in a steamroom counted as a workout though )

DanJARMouse · 06/01/2008 09:36

It was AWFUL

Wasnt just Daniel though, DD2 was up every 20 mins for some reason so its been really crap!

Was awake from 3am - 7.45am! Managed to sleep for an hour, but still feel really rough! Not helped by not actually getting to sleep until almost 1am!

Meeting another MNer today to get a few baby things from her, luckily its only round the corner and doubt i will be out long, i just want to spend the day in bed!

RGPargy · 06/01/2008 09:47

Morning everyone

DJarm, i'm with you - i had an horrendous night too! I'm sooooo tired!

Ellie decided that she would just pretend to be the model baby when i bathed, fed and put her to bed at 7pm last night. At 8pm she decided she would wake up (just as our takeaway arrived!) and then she fussed until 3am this morning She came downstairs while dinner was around as i needed to eat and it was getting late (and dinner was getting cold) so i just brought her down. She then had another feed a bit later but would not would not WOULD NOT bring up a single bit of bloody wind!!! Both DP and I sat there for about an hour patting and rubbing her back, changing her positions, holding her across my forearm, walking up and down the stairs with her on my shoulder - you name it, we did it. All to no avail. Even a dose of gripe water didn't do the trick (not sure that stuff works anyway tbh!). I knew this would cause her trouble later and boy, did she kick off!! She hardly fed all night either, just had a couple of snacks through the night. She was back to her usual "i've got bellyache/wind" screaming til 3am when DP finally took her downstairs and put her in the vibrating chair. She went out like a light! She had a half hearted feed at about 8ish and is now finally asleep in her vibro-chair again. She's not been crying this morning, but i do worry that she'll get dehydrated or will lose weight etc if she doesn't have a proper two-sided feed. I think the only thing left to try re the wind is cooled boiled water, but i dont know how much she should be having for relief. Any ideas anyone?

Easy - I've never heard of those pampers disposable mats. What a good idea! I have two left over from my home birth so i think i will use them for nappy free kick abouts! Hope the cloth nappy night went ok for you. As for there being nothing on TV, oh my WORD you are not wrong!!! I cant believe we've got the Virgin XL package and i'm still sat here watching bloody repeats all day! It's ludicrous. There's so much rubbish and repeats on it's untrue.

LOM - lol @ Crispin! How was the sleeping situation for you last night?

Jet - Sorry to hear about your dog.

Silk - Very at Megan's sleepiness.

Choudru - Hope DS is better now. It's horrible when the DCs aren't well isn't it.

Lizzie - glad you had a kind of breakthrough day re the potty training. IIRC, i had to constantly ask DS if he need a wee/poo/the potty etc to get him to actually think about whether he needed the loo or not. I'm also conscious about the baby fat. I did put on 1 1/2 stone, which fell off a few days after DD was born with the exception of 4lbs. However i weighed myself the other day and i'd put on 4lb but that might have been coz we were managing to eat meals rather than me just snacking when and as i could when DD first came along. Both DP and I will be watching what we eat from now on.

Plans for today everyone?

littleoldme · 06/01/2008 10:47

rg - soz you had a rubbish night. Things were much better at this end. It really is a rollercoaster isn't it.
btw talking of tv... you mentioned a while ago that i could borrow you heroes dvds when you've finished with them. g'is a yell when you have if it is still ok . there's only so much selling homes location flogging it in the attic that a girl can take.

have a top day chaps

RGPargy · 06/01/2008 11:11

oh yes i did, didn't i! Sorry, i completely forgot about that! I've not got round to watching the rest of the episodes - i got up to episode 7 - but i have them on my portable hard drive anyway so you may as well have the DVDs to watch! I've seen them all before but it's brilliant so i dont mind watching them again before i get round to watching series 2. Email me your address to ravegirl at blueyonder dot co dot uk and i'll send them off this week.

fiona76 · 06/01/2008 11:38

Morning all!!
Not too bad a night here but DD only settled after 10pm after 3 hours of yelling. Poor DH had to get up for work at 2am so he will be tired today. She's been great today so hope that continues.

I am also worried about my weight. I've always been a big girl size 18-20. I didn't put on much weight when pregnant and seemed to shed quite quickly in the 3 weeks after birth but since then my metabolism seems to have slowed. I'm still quite hungry becuase of BF and know I have to eat well. I think I'm most concerned about my flabby belly and my boobs are bigger than normal so that always makes you look larger. Feel very unsexy .

On a happier note I've posted some new photos on my profile, check it out if you want to see a cutie. xxx

RGPargy · 06/01/2008 12:07

Fiona - i know how you feel re feeling unsexy. I'm the same. I was bigger than you pre-pg (size 22) but my tummy was quite firm. Now i have mahoooosive boobs that drip milk at every opportunity and a jelly belly! Oh well, i spose that's the price we pay for our gorgeous little bundles of noise joy.

Your pics are lovely Fiona

choudru · 06/01/2008 12:53

Sorry to hear about your lack of sleep RG, JARM and anyone else. I had the opposite last night - Sara slept from 12:30am to 8:45am!!! I started stressing out about if she was alive or not!

Had to come down and check in my GF book - which seems to think that's okay? Thoughts?

It seems with babies, you can never be worry free. Sara seems to be sleeping well, but I am now worried about her feeding. She only feeds for 5 mins, burps and then 3-4 mins further.

How long are your babies feeding for?

About exercise - you must be joking. My excuse is that too much exercise may affect milk production and i'm sticking to it. I have about half a stone remaining from this pregnancy. Am not too concerned. As long as i am in some sort of shape before i go back to work.

Lizzie - well done on the potty training. Must get round to training DS. He's 2.5 so time is ticking by!

RGPargy · 06/01/2008 13:27

Choudru - with regard to Sara's sleeping - dont knock it!! Make the most of it. I'm sure it wont last.

I think some babies are efficient feeders and it could be that your milk supply is plentiful and is enough to fill her up in that short time. Ellie takes about 20-30 minutes to feed, but normally that's only on one side and i cant get wind up for love nor money!!

ChocolateHobnob · 06/01/2008 16:39

Don't talk about weight all the time!!! I have lost a lot of what I put on but my tummy is sooooo flabby, it's awful. And my boobs feel so inflated!

RG - I struggle with lo's wind, too. I tried the cooled boiled water - one teaspoon produced six huge burps the first time I tried it. The second time, though, it did nothing. Gripe water does nothing apart from make her grimace...

Choudru, well done on the sleep!

LOM, glad you had a better night.

Been out into town, had a Wagamama lunch and a chocolate muffin, and am now back. DH back at work tomorrow , just me and lo now.

sarahloumadam · 06/01/2008 17:32

Choudru - Adam seems to take less time to feed these days but as someone said, I think they get more efficient don't they? Has she still got plenty of wet/dirty nappies? Ikwym re sleeping - Adam did nothing but sleep and wake up for short feeds yesterday and I was too worried to enjoy it! Back to normal today.

LOM - lol re tv. Haven't mastered the art of reading and feeding so have been relying on TV to entertain me and what I don't know about buying and selling houses now isn't worth knowing! I also know a thing or two about dog psychology. To my shame my fave prog at the mo is Loose Women!

Lizzie - it was my FIL who was very rude re breast feeding (unless someone had a similar experience?). He's a proper berk ! My LO is also v.noisy, snuffle, cough, fart, burp, coo, suck, snore...! Drives me nuts at 3 o'clock in the morning, my DH doesn't even snore.

RG & JARM - sorry you had a pants night. Hope you have a better one tonight.

x

sparklygothkat · 06/01/2008 17:32

I am normally a size 10 but since having Callum I have struggled with my clothes. I feel flabby. I hope the running will help, I don't need to lose weight, just toning

sarahloumadam · 06/01/2008 17:36

Sparkly - hope you don't mind me asking but you get rid of your thrush yet? What did the dr prescribe? I think I have it and heard it can be a bugger to get rid of?

sparklygothkat · 06/01/2008 17:40

I got a perscribion (sp?) from the HV for oral gel for Callum and cream for me. Still haven't got rid of it and it hurts when he feeds.

OP posts:
sarahloumadam · 06/01/2008 17:47

Oh sorry you still have, my boob feels bruised when he feeds and I get shooting pains after. What a pita. Or boob rather! Got some oral gel and cream from chemist yesterday. First chemist I went to asked if I planning to stop breast-feeding . As if I was just breast-feeding on a whim! Second chemist more clued up. Going to drs tomorrow to see if she can give me anything more hard-core.

Choc - I've just tried the teaspoon of cooled boiled water and it's not done anything! Oh well, guess that one's out the window too!

RGPargy · 06/01/2008 20:15

Welcome back Loopy!

Glad you had a fab Xmas and new year.

berrybliss · 06/01/2008 20:38

Haven't been on mums net for ages, Just had a little catch up. Hope everyone had a lovely first Christmas and New Year with their new babies.

Will try harder to post and follow. I never seem to have the time, does anyone else feel like they are constantly washing and ironing clothes?

Coby is doing well, still pretty much putting on a pound a week and has nearly doubled his birth weight in 8 weeks. The childrens nurse joked that my i must have gold top breastmilk!

But he is such a sicky baby we get through about 10 bibs a day and th carpet has little white sick splatters over it wich wont seem to budge. Oh well we need new carpets anyway!

I'm going to try and add some new photos.

xx

RGPargy · 06/01/2008 20:40

Hi berry

Great that Coby is doing so well!!

I deffo dont feel like i'm constantly always ironing becausei dont do any! I am always washing, but i dont mind that so much coz it's no effort.

As for baby sick, Ellie has amazingly only been sick once and that was like a little sicky burp i reckon as there was the minimal amount of sick on her chin! I must be very lucky!!

berrybliss · 06/01/2008 21:17

done with the pictures! I so with the lack of sick! I've been sicked on 3 times today i must smell gross but can't be bothered to change as i know it will only happen again! Ho Hum.
