lol RGP

you make me laugh! Reusables are deffo so much easier really! Take it off, bung it in the wash and forget about it! Dry them and hey presto lovely clean nappies!

Daniel looks so cute with his big bum, they make me go all gooey! Nothing better imo!

God I sound like my grandmother! Disposables have their uses, but once they get into bigger sizes, the costs soon mount up! Especially with the likes of my DD2 who is in supermarket own brands during the day, but has to have pampers at night to contain the volume of wee! 2 lots of nappies a month isnt cheap!

RGPargy · 05/01/2008 12:49

Ugh but DJARM!!!!!!! It's all the poo!!!!!! How can you stick a pile of sh1t into the washing machine and have it all swishing around in there??!! Yuk!!!!!

sarahloumadam · 05/01/2008 12:55

Hi all, hope you all had a good night.

Lizzie- We got Adam's cot yesterday and he seems to like it! We managed to fit it in the corner of our bedroom so we don't have to put him in a separate room just yet. Good job as Adam's room is doubling up as a laundry room at the mo - don't know how I'll manage without it! We bought the best matttress we could afford and it is a lot more comfy than his moses basket one. It could have been beginners luck but he seemed to settle much quicker after his night feed. He looks tiny! He hasn't mastered the art of wriggling up the cot yet like your LO.

Think I definately have thrush - shooting pains in boob argghh! Also Adam has been more gassy/fussy which is apparently one of the symptoms. Couldn't get a doctors appointment till Monday tho. Am going to go to chemist and see if they can give me anything. Sparkly - how long did it take for you and Callum to get better?

Going to a post-natal group next week. Will be nice to meet some local mums. Topic for discussion is "sleeping and crying"!

Was v.mad last night as the DH let out that my FIL had made a comment about me breast-feeding on xmas day along the lines of was DH sure I wasn't over-feeding Adam !!! Bloody cheek. He also said something similar to mum. I would like to say something to him but what is the point. All DH's family seem to think I'm a freak for breast-feeding so I'd be talking to a brick wall. If he wasn't putting any weight on I would also be to blame I suppose. AH well, the best revenge is success and if Adam is happy and thriving then that should (eventually) shut them up!

Have a good day

littleoldme · 05/01/2008 13:38

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Talk about velcro baby. Won't be put down, won't sleep in his moses basket. Dh has gets him to sleep for about 3 hours in the evening otherwise I'd get no sleep at all. >

I love him to death but he's completely doing my head in at the mo.

I haven't caught up on the thread as I know I'll be at your sleeping LOs and it will make me cry.

silkcushion · 05/01/2008 13:58

Choudru - yr magic fairy dust must have landed on all the other babies and got used up before it hit Megan .

My routine has gone to shite!!!!! She went down at 7pm as usual then woke at 8.30 for a feed, then 11pm and wouldn't settle til a further feed at 2am, finally stopped crying at 2.45am. woke screaming again at 4.30am - not hungry just inconsolable. then again at 5.30 - screaming her head off - had a tiny feed and slept til 10.30am!!!!

She can obviously sleep for long periods and can go quite a long time between feeds but her choice is to do that in the morning. DH got up at 10.30 to see to her and I stayed in bed til 12.30pm - but still feel shattered. We need to reset her bodyclock again cos she is a angel all day and v sleepy (of course she bloody is). She's ahrdly eaten today as she's so tired .

Tonight we are goingt o sleep in separate rooms again. I'll do the overnight screaming session and dh can sleep in the spare room - come in at 7am and wake her up no matter when she's fallen asleep. Just hope it works.

Congrats to the rest of you who are starting to have an easier time

Going to drag my sorry arse of the sofa now to do my yogalates dvd

RGPargy · 05/01/2008 14:27

Sarah - i never knew you could get thrush of the boobs?!!!! Shocking stuff about your FIL! Must be because you're obviously bonkers for BFing!

LOM - sorry you are having a velcro baby phase. It will get better, i promise. Hang in there!

Silk - sorry you've had sleep troubles with Megan too. I really do believe that a routine is paramount. This was proved to us last night when Ellie fussed alot until midnight and i really do think it's because she was overtired because the routine went out the window. Deffo going to stick to the routine tonight, no matter what! I dont know how you've got the energy to do exercise DVDs! You must be crackers! Wont be doing mine just yet. Gotta sort out the space in teh conservatory first and then i'll think about it.

Time for a bacon buttie i think!

ChocolateHobnob · 05/01/2008 15:23

Silk, poor you! I dont think babies like to stick to rules... I think they do what they want. We just have to keep trying to help them live by a routine that will make them happy, cos if we let them live their own routines entirely they would be permanently overtired!

Sarahlou, I got the exact same thing over Xmas - 'why are you feeding her now? she only fed three hours ago' 'she's just being greedy, lie her down and ignore her'. Etc. V irritating.

Does anyone here have either an Arm's reach co-sleeper or an Amby nest? and any thoughts on them? DD is getting big in her basket and I hate the thought of moving her into the huge cotbed in her own room so soon...

DanJARMouse · 05/01/2008 15:24

I am knackered! Sod the workout DVD's - take 2 toddlers to a soft play centre! Daniel was an angel and slet the whole time we were there, so me and DH took it in turns to "play" and to "babysit"!!

Im going to have a little nap now I think, im so sleepy! Fingers crossed DH doesnt mind because I can barely keep my eyes open!

DanJARMouse · 05/01/2008 15:27

choc - ive got the arms reach co-sleeper www.sierradistribution.co.uk/ this one to be precise.

Its a waste for us because Daniel will be going into his cot after next weekend and he is perfectly happy in the carrycot for now.

Bloody brilliant invention though, and if BFing had worked out, I probably would have loved it.

Will be selling it though

ChocolateHobnob · 05/01/2008 16:21

JARM, why are you putting Daniel in his cot rather than the co-sleeper? is there something wrong with it or does he just prefer the carrycot at the mo?

How much would you be selling it for? Mind you it would cost a fortune to post....

sparklygothkat · 05/01/2008 17:05

I'd like to know how much it would be too Jarm.

DanJARMouse · 05/01/2008 18:07

Space is an issue, and he is such a noisy sleeper! My kids never stay with me for too long because of the noise.... they sleep but I dont!

I will probably courier it, and price wise not sure... probably looking around £100-£125

DanJARMouse · 05/01/2008 18:10

oh, and nothing wrong with it at all, we have put it up and the carryct has sat on it at night and thats it! We already have a travel cot (2 if you include one at my dads lol) so really dont need it!

sparklygothkat · 05/01/2008 19:04

bit out off my price range atm, shame, it would have been so handy with bf..

OP posts:
DanJARMouse · 05/01/2008 19:41

sorry sweets but they are £200 new... so a bargain really.

hope you and callum are doing alright x

sparklygothkat · 05/01/2008 20:01

I understand JARM. They are expensive. Anyway me and Callum are well, he has been a bit grumpy today, but seems to be ok now.

My washing machine is on the blink atm and someone is coming on tuesday to fix it, but its a nightmare with the washable nappies. My dad is washing them today for me and dropping them over later.

Had my nieces over today, can't believe how big Jasmine is getting, she look huge compared to Callum but he is catching up slowly. I have a new pic of the two of them, as soon as I upload it I will post it on my profile.

OP posts:
sparklygothkat · 05/01/2008 20:06

have added a grinning Callum and one from xmas (but I don't think he liked it much lol)

RGPargy · 05/01/2008 20:23

lol Sparkly, those pics are lovely!!! Such a huge grin!

Easywriter · 05/01/2008 21:19

Gawd I LOVE pictures of babies (and the real poeple even more).

Lovely pics!

Easywriter · 05/01/2008 21:49

Lizzie - Hang in there with the potty training, it's early days yet. I've no advice for you (I've done SOOOO badly with potty training one of my dd's to tell you about it would be a horror story you don't need). I'm sure it'll come good eventually.

RG - Have you discovered Pampers disposable change mats. They're exactly the same as the absorbant mats the mw's bring with tehm to a home birth (I can't remember what they're called). I use them exclusively, (but use each mat until their really old/ poo-d or wee-d on before I throw them out). Marnie has about half an hour a day rolling around in nothing but her birthday suit courtesy of these lovely mats as well as being changed on them.

We're onto using fabric nappies at night tonight as our last disposable was used last night.
So far fabric nappies seem ok. I followed Jetgirl and ditched the liner as baby poo is so tame (compared to weaned baby poo). At the risk of horrifying everyone, I rinse my pooey nappies before I put them in the pre wash soak bucket. I that really gross? Should I pack it in?

I'm loving the big bummed-ness of the fabric nappies though! Muy bueno!

Silk - sorry to hear about you bad nights, hope tonights plan goes well. I'm sure Megan will get the hang of sleeping at night soon, hang in there.

SGK - That picture of Callum (crying in santa suit) really brought back memories. I have a similar one of dd2 at that age! Can't wait to see the uploaded picture of Callum and his cousin. I love the one of them taken just after they were born.

Question? Why is the nothing good on TV these days, do they not know I've got a young child so won't be getting out of the house too much at nights for a while? Oh and a trick I picked up when dd's were this age and one of them always seemed to be crying when there was something I was actually watching. Pop the subtitles on, that way you can sooth a crying child and keep up with whatever you're watching.

littleoldme · 05/01/2008 22:16

Thanks RG - he is only 3 weeks old, I just keep forgetting. i was greatly cheered by a visit from a couple of lovely friends who always make me laugh. They bought Thomas a pink rabbit with a bow. Apparantly he's called Crispin and is gay. They told me it would help him. get in touch with his feminine side.

I've also eaten a huge pile of cake which always helps matters.

Off to bed now to take advantage of the current sleepy interlude.

jetgirl · 05/01/2008 22:43

V [sad}, my mum phoned a little earlier to tell me that the family dog died. He'd been a bit 'off' for a few days, but vet wasn't too concerned, and he just went into the garden, lay down and died. Have to explain to DD tomorrow, not looking forward to that.

silkcushion · 05/01/2008 22:46

Megan's just had her final feed and I've put her back down. She's awake and gurgling but not crying yet. Although it's only been about a minute . Fingers crossed please everyone and send us yr sleepy vibes. See you in the morning after having at least some sleep hopefully

silkcushion · 05/01/2008 22:47

x posts - so sorry to hear about the dog Jet .

Easywriter · 05/01/2008 22:53

Sorry to hear your news jetgirl, hope that dd doesn't take it too hard.

Good sleep vibes on way to you Silk.
