Stairgate, Elkie!!?

NorthernLurker · 23/10/2007 13:10

Thanks Elkie - but actually I think I am letting them get on top of me. Anyway the slap seems to have had some benefit (thanks Dippy) as has the nice walk we've just had - gorgeous day here.
M is 9 (and R is 6)- she reads them herself luckily cos I don't think I could bear to!

Don't understand about the stairgate - do you not have stairs Elkie? puzzled
Enjoy your meet up tomorrow anyway.

elkiedee · 23/10/2007 13:17

Danny isn't quite crawling (he's not yet 6 months) but is finding ways to propel himself forward and my dad is worried about him falling down the stairs.

elkiedee · 23/10/2007 13:19

I think this is the kind of thing my dad has in mind...

Oh right I understand - well if someone is prepared to get one for you might as well do it now as later!

kelmcd · 23/10/2007 14:10

Hi, sorry for hijack - Elkiedee, i have posted on the local site!!

mammyjo · 23/10/2007 15:57

I have just baked some of liaths marmalade and beer cake, my kitchen smells delicious!! Have made some pizza dough too, homemade pizza and chips for tea tonight [yum emoticon}

geordiemacmummy · 23/10/2007 17:05

C having home made chcken and veggie soup for his tea - was blending it a little and the stupid hand blender started pissing withj smoke the blew up its only 3 weks old!!!!

mammyjo · 23/10/2007 18:04

Wow, it is quiet on here lately. Where is everyone? Why wont the pillock come back and talk to us? Come on, we know you are there!!

Sexonlegs · 23/10/2007 18:13

Hi all

V quiet on here today.

NL, glad you are feeling a bit brighter. It is so easy to get snowed under isn't it esp when tired.

MJ, where do you find the time to cook these lovely things from scratch??? And you GMM. You are both fab! So, your ds will be going back to school then tomorrow??!!

Elkie, stairgates are fab.

Had a good day today at a friends. She got B ad her ds making mini pizzas for our lunch which went down really well. Then went for a walk to the park and B had her swimming lesson late afternoon.

K still seems out of sorts - not hugely hungry and a bit whiny.

I always find she is at her utter worst between 5.00 and 6.30. She perks up then as it is bath time which she loves. Does anyone else have a specific "pants time"?

Hope everyone else has had a good day. x

NorthernLurker · 23/10/2007 18:23

good to hear you had a nice day sol - B is not at her best at teatime - and indeed I think that is generally acknowledged to be the worst time. You're trying to get lots done - baby and other children are hungry, tired, wanting attention and then dh comes home in the middle of it all

SharpMolarBear · 23/10/2007 19:08

Hi everyone
I have a ctrl-end now but think we still need a new thread!!

POTC · 23/10/2007 19:11

it's not even 300 posts long yet normally we get to at least 400!

On a rather comical note, my car was collected today to go for repair, and the driver was only 5ft tall

oooggs · 23/10/2007 19:14

thanks for your replies regarding feeding.

dts are doing this.........

7floz milk between 5-7am
8am breakfast - weetabix or ready brek
12noon lunch (2 courses) & water
4.30pm tea (2 courses) & water
6.30pm 9floz milk
10pm 7floz milk

not sure if this is ok

There is far too much shouting in our house

Eddas · 23/10/2007 20:04

oooggs, sounds fine to me, about the same as ds is having minus the water, he can't get on with any beakers i've tried he'll take it from the bottle but am not keen on that as I don't want him to have bottles for too long, I think they look daft when they get older IYSWIM!

POTC, I had a boyf that was about that height

Am going to bed in a minute. Not sure why i'm so tired but I need an early night

POTC · 23/10/2007 20:56

that's pretty much was Joe has oooggs

he's still bf so can't be as exact, but he feeds somewhere between 5-7am, then Nursery give him breakfast 8.30/9 where he has weetabix or readybrek. He has 2 course lunch at 12, wth some water if he wants it, or some ebm if I've left some, but only 3/4floz. He will feed when I collect him at about 2 sometimes, but as he is bf it's kinda just a thirst thing not hunger iyswim. Then he has tea at 4 with a feed if he's missed the 2pm one. He feeds again about 6.30/7 sometimes, or about 8.30/9, is rather fickle with that! Then midnight feed if he fed early, sleeps later if fed later, no idea if he wakes up in night or not cos I go to bed at 12 and feed in sleep!

So actually, despite being bf he doesn't have anymore fluid than the dt's I don't reckon

Your babies seem to be eating much more than mine.

G still hasn't got the hang of solids, we only have breakfast and tea and tbh it's more like playtime than feeding time for him. Still BFOD but he does gradually seem to be taking less. Except for the last couple of days when he's had a snuffly cold and just wants to cuddle and feed all afternoon. Bless.

I feel rough upset tummy and feeling sick. Need to clean the blardy house again as the agent is coming to take pics tomorrow. It has never been so tidy for so long

Knew the talk of an early thread change would tempt POTC out I once dated a chap my height 5'4" but short chaps don't really do it for me.

elkiedee · 23/10/2007 20:58

SOL, D is at his most grizzly most nights at exactly the time you mention. Usually his bath and/or bedtime feed cheer him up, sometimes I manage to find other ways to distract him.

Sexonlegs · 23/10/2007 21:06

Leaky, K is not having huge amounts of food at all. She always sticks her hand in her mouth with the spoon and so is covered in it, plus whatever gets spat out.

Sorry to hear you are feeling rough. Hope you feel better soon.

Elkie, that is one of the good things about having B. She can act like a nutter which cheers K up no end!

Eddas, hope you get a good nights kip.

I am off to bed soon as well. Absolutely shattered. This half term lark is a killer. 12 hours of childcare!

mammyjo · 23/10/2007 21:37

SOL, yes he will certainly be going to school tomorrow!! I am in work and my dad will be here, so have told ds that grandpa will not take any messing and he will be going to school!! Little bugger
F is miserable from around half four til six when she goes for her bath. Its like the witching hour in our house with her whinging and ds moaning that he wants his tea!

Off to bed now, early start for work tomorrow. Pillock, knew you couldnt keep away! Nice to see you back on here again See you all tomorrow evening xxx

nappynuttynormabutty · 23/10/2007 22:29

lol @ your ds MJ

Sorry you're feeling ill Leaky. Hope you're soon better. Is G sleeping any better?

I'll hopefully be off to bed soon. Don't think Erin's settled yet (dh took her up). I'm a bit fed up of him "helping" me with techy stuff, he just blabbers at me in techy mumbo jumbo speak and I end up feeling stupid .

VamPesha · 23/10/2007 22:39

Hi all

MJ I had to laugh it sounds alot like M and N. M especially is terrible for lying, it does my head in it really does. She has to be on death's door for me to let her stay off school now! I dont know if anyone else has ever noticed but I find they often have a kind of sweet smell when they are really ill, if i cant smell that and she's not actually physically being sick then she goes to school! If she really is ill they can phone me to go and get her again.

Agree half term really is a killer. I do have dp around to help although tbh he knackered his knee even more trying to walk home at the weekend and is in quite a lot of pain so cant really do much and is pretty short tempered with the kids which doesnt help as they all seem to wind each other up. And all 3 of them argue over what to watch on the tv too!! Although ben 10 seems to be pretty popular all round at the moment, even I'm quite enjoying it actually!

D is still only on 2 meals a day although this is partly due to having a cough and now cold which have put him off a bit but hge's still having plenty of bf. He didnt have any solids at all for a couple of days so we're going slowly again now. This morning I decided to try and spoon feed him some breakfast instead of doing it blw style but we endd up in an even worse state than normal! Every mouthful went it, got swished around abit, mixed with saliva then spat out! Spoon feeding really isn't his thing! Saw dietician yesterday (did I say? She wasn't worried anyway) and i said he wasn't good with spoon feeding so we were just giving him finger foods (didnt wanna have to explain BLW) and she said oh its probably an idea to try and give him more off a spoon so he learns to take it before its too late. Too late for what?!? He's gonna get to 18 and not be able to eat off a spoon I know its often suggested the other way and you wanna introduce solids and lumps before too late or you can have alot of trouble trying to get them to take it but cant see how it works the other way! Oh well, she was very nice really.

Have just been searching cake making sites for inspiration as i always make dcs birthday cakes and have decided to attempt a castle cake for dd. She had a castle for her 3rd birthday but it was a flat one based on the toy castle we'd bought her from elc. This will be a 3d pink girly castle with ice cream cone turrets and all! Feeling the need to compensate because I think her last 2 cakes have not been as good as ds's last 2 so going to try and make hers extra special. And have been trawling poundland and The Works for party bag things and prizes and all the usual crap. I'm not doing anything more than hiring an empty hall as no money for anything else but hall is already booked and invitations out so will be traditional party with lots of party games. Might start a thread in party section soon asking for party game ideas. Have the usual pass the parcel, pin the tail on the donkey and all the musical chairs/statues/bumps but if anyone has any other suggestions they'd be much appreciated We have 20+ 6 and 7 year olds, a very big, very empty hall with a stage, some balloons and a cd player

Sorry another epic post with no personals I must start taking notes again!

SharpMolarBear · 23/10/2007 22:48

Sorry, no party game ideas, but please get pictures of that cake!
Good night everyone x

VamPesha · 23/10/2007 22:52
