Ohh Spooks is my fave ....it was very good!

Foxy.....hope all goes OK today....can't begin to imagine what it must feel like to put your trust of your DS in someone elses hands (I have trouble leaving my LO with anyone ), but everything will be fine. BTW are you at King's (sure you've mentioned that before?)...I used to work there and its a fab hospital ...few hours and it'll all be done and dusted!

riabutterflew · 17/10/2007 09:10

it's quiet this morning

Morning Ria - glad School went ok - had to about all the previous aquaintances....that's why I left my home town....I'm not far away but at least I don't bump into people I'd rather not see in the shops!

I was crap at that banana thing....will have to have another go when I wake up a bit and I might understand it....maths was never my strong point

riabutterflew · 17/10/2007 09:19

I didn't get the banana thing at all. the maths teacher will think I'm a prat!

I think most of it is guess work and the thinking bit only comes in if you find any?

Everything has changed since I went to school....I took O levels FFS! And years were 1-5, none of this year 7,8 stuff!

God I'm old

riabutterflew · 17/10/2007 09:38

they do gcse engineering!

OP posts:
LittleMissNorty · 17/10/2007 09:54

Strictly academic subjects and needlework at my school...french was compulsory as well....I'm crap at languages

What is engineering anyway...my DH tells me he's an engineer....Daisy....whats a structural engineer then? Could you tell me if the wall underneath my stairs is holding the stairs up?

Oh blimey, DD been asleep since 8.30am...time to get washed and dressed I think....off to friends for lunch so she's being dressed in her Haribo dress again but with just shocking pink tights today

morning all, LMN, ria, mhc, anyone else who may be around....

lol mhc at finding alternative donor!
no more kiddies planned for this household, one is plenty......but will no doubt start wondering whether or not she needs a sibling before long!
(whilst on the subject though, I had understood that exclusive breast feeding was effective contraceptive, now I'm not so sure after stories I've heard, have pills but not keen to take them whilst bf.....so who knows what might happen....not that there's much activity on that front)!

thanks derlor - that kennel cage looks ideal! just have to make room in my tiddly flat.....
sputnick - what do i do with the cushions? build a fortress?

thinking of foxy and ds - hope it all goes ok today.

ria, glad it went ok last night

teabag007 · 17/10/2007 10:29

i found 9 bananas

IamDaisy · 17/10/2007 10:41

LOL LMN, yes and possibly yes are the answers to your Structural Engineering questions.

structural engineering = engineering of building structures and bridges. I always explain it that Architects design buildings, Structural Engineers make sure they don't fall down

I loved the banana thing, and was getting annoyed when I got it so wrong I wasn't finding any bananas

IamDaisy · 17/10/2007 10:42

LOL mhc maybe I'll suggest that to DH!

Sputnik · 17/10/2007 10:43

Bf is not a very reliable method, I think it really varies from woman to woman. Also, I think you can only take certain kinds of pill while bf, you should check with the GP.

sputnik, gp prescribed pills knowing I'm bf so should be ok, it's just me thinking about what passes into milk.....hormones etc. Will now make another coffee, conveniently ignoring the fact that I'm probably dosing her up with caffeine......

i've always admired structural engineers (and building surveyors) daisy for knowing so much useful stuff!

Typical, wait until nappy's just been changed and then do mighty trumpet farts......

mhc, how do you know when you're ovulating? That might be an idea, if i know when is relatively safe....
v sorry to hear about your miscarriages
corpus luteum phase?

HellHathNoFury · 17/10/2007 10:56

I have no idea what all this banana thing is.

I had a bit of a meltdown last night/this morning.
DH is wonderful and is a big help but lately I am running around sorting out holidays, loans, buying/wrapping/posting christmas presents, cooking, nurseries, wedding photos, car collections, ebay, mobile phone contracts ...etc.

Plus at work the guy next to me is 21 and a little sod who is always making snide comments at me and criticising me.

Plus every time I call my mum to have a whinge about how I am coping she says 'Well I had 5 kids and your father was a useless arse and I went to work 2 days after giving birth and I coped!'
...which always serves to make me feel even more woefully inadequate.

Ok rant over.
Hope Foxy's DS is ok. My nephew has the same problem.

Seansgirlnotblondegirl · 17/10/2007 10:56

Morning all. Just waiting for kiddicare to deliver DS new car seat as infant carrier is too small for him - have gone for a 0-4 front/rear as he now ways in @ 18lbs 14oz and is rapidly growing out of 6-9m clothes!

Feel a bit left out on the bf convo. I did bf DD for 9mths but DS didn't take well to it in early days and had so many feeding problems I dodn't think I'd have had any norks left! He is very happy tho, so I'm happy too! But no more babies here for me! They'd have me at the hospital all the time after! No thanks ! Way too stressful!

IamDaisy · 17/10/2007 10:58

main prob with bfing as a method is that you ovulate before you get your first period, but until your first period you don't know your fertility has returned.....my period came back at 9.5 weeks, about two weeks after dh and i resumed relations ....there but for the grace of god go i.

IamDaisy · 17/10/2007 11:04

rant away hhnf....can you pass some of this stuff to DH?

sorry your mum is being less than supportive. My mum witters on about how she coped with four, but she forgets that my big sis who is nine years old looked after me so much that i had a mother fixation on her until i was 5!

....and poke the spotty not yet adult in the eye with a sharp pencil

TALLULAHSPELL · 17/10/2007 11:10

Morning folks,
Hope Foxy & DS going ok.

Teabag - you can tell you're ovulating by close inspection of your mucous (TMI?). Try googling billings method - wd do link but too tricky one handed. Also charting yr morning temperature looking for it to rise. But think b/f makes cycle more erratic.

dogtanian · 17/10/2007 11:13

Grrrr...there is an article on the news atm about the Polish community in Southampton being paid poorly and not finding jobs they are qualified for. WTF come here then? I understand we need immigrants to fill jobs and that they are a good thing for our communities, but don't fucking whinge when you get here and it's not to your liking!

Ta, tell the guy next to you to fuck off and die!

HellHathNoFury · 17/10/2007 11:15

Daisy - I passed all of this on to DH last night and this morning while I was driving in to work

He is now well versed in my issues and has some 'task ownership'

He is going to be sorting out the vets for the dog who has a smelly ear
the jabs for DS
arranging DHL for Aussie Christmas Presents
And remembering I exist for more than to cook his dinner and shop for his sodding shampoo!

He is doing well so far....I just got a call 'just to say hello I love you...'

HellHathNoFury · 17/10/2007 11:16

hear hear Holly

teabag007 · 17/10/2007 11:16

fury, you need a break, nothing wrong with a good rant....delegate maybe, or drop some of those balls for a day or two? there's always tomorrow
i agree with daisy, poke the spotty or ignore him....

bit of a chicken and egg thing with this ovulation lark, I think I'll just keep my fingers crossed!

SG, bf not for everyone and not sure how much longer i'll be able to stick it. Sounds like you're growing a healthy one there - my dd only just around 9lb now and just growing out of 0-3 mths!!
