I know where you girls are coming from on the feeding. With DS, as he was on formula from 6 weeks, the whole weaning thing wasn't an issue as he was already weaned off me IYSWIM. this time, I soooo wanted to do the six months thing, but DD is just so hungry and diving in our food. So far she has had tow lots of baby rice yesterday, and then rice and mash today. She's also had various sucks on bits of fruit, but I've not given her any fruit puree yet. she liked banana but it didn't like her.

With DS I started to mix fruit and veg purees in with the baby rice, then slowly reduced the quantity of rice. I've forgotten pretty much everything though, so will get annabel karmels book when I come back from my hols and get going with gusto then. So far we are only giving her wee tastes of stuff.

MIL still bleating about getting her on the bottle (of formula). I haven't told her that even when she is on solids I will still be feeding her myself.

IamDaisy · 16/10/2007 20:31

back onto rugby...DS has a Scotland rugby shirt . They were selling shirts in Aldi for the world up, so I thought I'd get one for DS as his old one is a bit small. In ou local Aldi they had England (obviously), Ireland, Wales, Australia and New Zealand.....but no Scotland. I'm contenting myself with the notion that they must have just sold out

upsyderlor · 16/10/2007 20:33

so Daisy is crazy too....anyone else??
deffo sold out of those shirts - VERY popular, like trying to get hold of a nintendo wii!!!!!

IamDaisy · 16/10/2007 20:50

yup, I don't want MIL to look after DD as I'm convinced she's stuffing chocolate hobnobs down her neck when I'm not looking

In fact, the only time she has babysat, I left 14ozs of ebm. In the two hours we were away, DD only took 3ozs, but if she was with DH she'd have had 5 then looked for more....I'm trying so hard not to imagine MIL stuffing tinned custard down her throat when I was out

Definately CrazyDaisy, but I think someone already has that name!

Elsbells · 16/10/2007 20:54

Evening all.
It makes me so sad that I am no longer BF my DD with all your chat . I am actually looking forward to weaning as I HATE formula.

Oh well...that's life, eh?

upsyderlor · 16/10/2007 20:55

oh i just ate 1/2 YUM YUM wonder how many WW points that is??? 2 maybe?

old folk always want to feed babies whisky as well WHY?????????

justbeme · 16/10/2007 20:56

Evening - Dont forget bringing up baby - on in a minute!!

I did a market research today for Asda and got £100 for 2 hrs "chat!!"

Be back later once watched the dreaded programme!

Elsbells · 16/10/2007 20:57

OMG Delor
Both my grandmother and my mom keep telling me to rub some whiskey on DD gums (she's teething badly)

Er, heelllllllllooooooooooooo ? WTF?

I just said I don't have any in the flat, only vodka

Elsbells · 16/10/2007 20:58

bugger
forgot must watch the evil CV on TV to shout at her.

Hope everyone has a good night

upsyderlor · 16/10/2007 20:59

oh i'll watch that too.....
still be on here as well though, obviously

teabag007 · 16/10/2007 21:00

i can be crazy too if you like
crazy crazy
we just have milk so far in this house and noone feeds dd other than dh (occasionally) and me - noone else really seems to want to feed her!

are your little ones wriggly worms? dd wriggled 360 degrees round on her play mat gym thing and then wriggled onto the floor. i need to get one of those cage things
and making a lot more noise as well, different noises, she chats to herself

teabag007 · 16/10/2007 21:02

oh yes, thanks for reminding me....

upsyderlor · 16/10/2007 21:05

LOL at the "cage" teabag, do you mean like this

Sputnik · 16/10/2007 21:20

I feel a bit like Holly on the weaning, I'm very aware this is my last and I'm trying to savour the babyness, whereas with DD i was always keen to get on to the next stage IYSWIM. He isn't showing much interest anyway yet.
Here they advise just fruit for the 1stmonth btw. Interesting to see the different approaches. Don't think they've heard of blw.

Sputnik · 16/10/2007 21:24

a few cushions should for the moment teabag

Sputnik · 16/10/2007 21:26

Are you all off watching the Baby Torturer then? I feel I'm missing out on something.

frumpyflabbyfurryfarfromfoxy · 16/10/2007 21:29

Another one here for feeding her myself, DH with EBM at the most. MIL? No. I don't think so.

Am watching BUB. Slightly behind time. Quote of the programme so far "I don't care what the WHO says".

IamDaisy · 16/10/2007 21:30

LOL at "Baby Torturer" sputnik.

I'm not watching this week, more because my laptop is fooked so I'm in the other room on the PC.

I've just been engrossed in this thread. Mumsnet at it's best worst

upsyderlor · 16/10/2007 21:31

oh sorry sputnik i'm here, when is weaning suggested in italy?
Hi Foxy.

frumpyflabbyfurryfarfromfoxy · 16/10/2007 21:32

Hi Derlor!

upsyderlor · 16/10/2007 21:34

i saw that thread earlier Daisy - chose not to get involved - yikes.
How's things foxy you cccaaaaaallllmmmmmmmmmmmm today?

upsyderlor · 16/10/2007 21:35

those wee twins on channel 4 are adorable

IamDaisy · 16/10/2007 21:36

sputnik, do you not see yourself having any more then? I know like me, you are of advancing years, but I still have a notion for another one. My SIL was 42 when she had my neice, and my cousin was 44 when she had her first.

Still need to convince DH though; but thankfully he is crap about going to the doctors so the snip is not yet scheduled.

There's a dilemms actually.....should he go ahead and have the snip regardless of whether I want him to or not? He says his mind is made up, but should I have a say in the matter?

actually, no don't answer that, I'll save it for an AIBU thread when there's a quiet day

frumpyflabbyfurryfarfromfoxy · 16/10/2007 21:39

put it this way, have just sat down for the first time. Since 7am!

tbh am on a very thin edge (of something, not sure what). I just need to get tomorrow over with OK.

Have wine. Thank God.

upsyderlor · 16/10/2007 21:40

Daisy YANBU i think you should DEFINATELY have a say in the matter x
my DH wants another one.........
