Can I ask some advice ..... DS has some small patches of dry skin on his body, legs and arms and I'm not sure what to put on them - does anyone have any tips, other than olive oil? I don't think it's full blown excema so I don't really want to go to the GP about it.

foxystein · 24/10/2007 21:34

Thanks Fairyfay. Another member of the surgical team came to me and pointed out that that is not what they would normally do and that she had been spoken to and it had been dealt with. The way he said it (sternly and a couple of times) suggested it was taken seriously. She was obviously inexperienced and thoughtless.

The team as a whole, and the ward staff, were lovely and very accommodating and I can't fault them (which I've said in the letter). So I'm happy that I've made my point about her, but taken the opportunity to thank them and tell them how good they've been .

foxystein · 24/10/2007 21:35

Have you tried aqueous [sp?] cream? I used to wash DS1 in it (on GPs advice) as he had very dry skin.

fairyfay · 24/10/2007 21:37

Sounds perfect, foxy. I'm sure the good ones will appreciate being praised, as all too often we complain about crappy 'service' and don't compliment people who go out of their way to help

fairyfay · 24/10/2007 21:39

Thanks foxy, I will try that.

I also have some non-soap bath stuff for DD, as she has mild excema. I've been putting nothing in the bath water when DS goes in with DD, but I might add a tiny bit of that when DS next goes in and see if it helps

upsyderlor · 24/10/2007 21:43

oooooo i've got an IQ of 111
FF - Loads of babies get this, try some blaneum in the bath, watch out though- makes the baby VERY slippery!!
cocco butter body butter from the body shop is also very good, or according to street doctor the other night the inside of a banana skin!!!!!

upsyderlor · 24/10/2007 21:45

so Foxy, did she deflate the catheter balloon prior to pulling??

fairyfay · 24/10/2007 21:48

Ewww not sure I'll try the banana but will try cocoa butter as I already have some of that. Will also look out for blaneum.

thanks

fairyfay · 24/10/2007 21:49

did you just do an IQ test or are you just boasting

upsyderlor · 24/10/2007 21:54

well i thought i was boasting after doing the facebook IQ test but have just noticed that some of you lot have done it too and i offically have the lowest IQ on here and the next lowest score is 130!!!!! bugger.
i'll get DH to do it and see what he gets - surely i can beat him

fairyfay · 24/10/2007 21:55

They're all rubbish anyway!

upsyderlor · 24/10/2007 21:55

might get DS to do it too if i'm struggling to beat someone

upsyderlor · 24/10/2007 21:56

bet you wouldn't say that if yours came out at 150!!!!

fairyfay · 24/10/2007 21:58

that's a good point! But I think we can all claim pg brain and add a good few points to our scores

fairyfay · 24/10/2007 21:59

I'm convinced that each baby you have dissolves part of your brain

upsyderlor · 24/10/2007 22:03

oh thats a good thought - so as long as Foxy doesn't beat me then i'm OK!!!!
i'm sure my IQ must have been at least 150 before i had my children

foxystein · 24/10/2007 22:03

I quite like Oilatum for the bath, seems to work well. The cold weather and central heating won't help the dryness either.

Yes, Derlor, she did deflate the balloon. She got that right at least. Can you imagine? He seems fine about it all. Hope he feels that way in 3 weeks when they want to have a look at it!

upsyderlor · 24/10/2007 22:04

right i'm off to bed to rest my tired out brain!!!
night x

foxystein · 24/10/2007 22:04

Oh I won't be doing taking part in any IQ test! I had trouble with one of DS1s puzzle books last night !!!

fairyfay · 24/10/2007 22:06

I'm off too, night night all

upsyderlor · 24/10/2007 22:08

oh oh, need to do this again come over here.......
