Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
upsyderlor · 22/10/2007 21:18

yes sputnik it can, or teeting - is it on your baby?
on an older child it can be "slapcheek" an infection that young children get.

Rabbitbreath · 22/10/2007 21:20

yes Derlor - yes in South Africa we call it supper and therefore I thought you did not give her her mail meal for the evening and that she had to go to bed hungry without supper / dinner.

Like we call trousers pants in South Africa -you can so easily misunderstand what people say - embarrassing when you tell your boss you are walking to the station wiping dog hair from your black pants ..... mmmmm

so sorry Derlor - I hope I am forgiven but I am sure you would have reacted the same way if you you understood it like I did.

Rabbitbreath · 22/10/2007 21:22

red cheeks with green poo and lots of drool might be teething - dd cut her first tooth a week before her 4 months' birthday and the 2nd one followed 2 weeks later ;---)))

upsyderlor · 22/10/2007 21:24

oops i meant teething Sputnik.
no problem RB i thought that's what had worried you . just as we would all be concerned if you said you went out in your pants!!

Sputnik · 22/10/2007 21:25

Baby has red cheeeks on and off, and has beeen unsettled last 2 days, and snotty for ages. Pretty sure it's not teething, DD got her 1st tooth around 1!
Hmm, maybe I should get him looked at

upsyderlor · 22/10/2007 21:32

does the ear feel hot?
does the cheek feel hot?
(teething red cheeks come and go and all babies are different so just because your other LO was nearly 1 doesn't mean this time it will be the same)
earache symptoms would more likely be there all the time.
slapcheek, also - there all the time.

upsyderlor · 22/10/2007 21:33

oh sorry is it BOTH cheeks?

Rabbitbreath · 22/10/2007 21:36

thanks Dearest Derlor - glad you have a good sense of humor!!!

Sputnik - dd had a very blocked nose on the day(s) her teeth came out and she was also feeling VERY sorry for herself!!

Remember not one child is the same (like a million people might have told you by now) so maybe this little one's teeth are coming sooner than your other child's. Who knows, but might be a good idea to have him looked at just to put your mind at rest.

I sound like someone with years of experience - haha ;---)))

Sputnik · 22/10/2007 21:37

That link is weird, saw her spin both ways

Sputnik · 22/10/2007 21:41

Yeah both cheeks, 1 more than otheer, feeling hot, coming and going. Ears not hot tht I noticed. Will be monitoring.
derlor you are fab

fairyfay · 22/10/2007 21:42

Sputnik - you must be using both sides. However hard I try I can't make her go anti-clockwise

Sputnik · 22/10/2007 21:45

Somebody plese convince me not to spend a billion euros on gorgeous alpacca knitwear. I only went looking for a bby poncho

upsyderlor · 22/10/2007 21:47

oh thanks sputnik
remember too sputnik they can teethe (sp?) for months before a tooth arrives. just keep an eye though cause it may also be her temp going up and down if she has a cold, next time her cheeks are very red just check her temp - if above 38 degrees then give calpol

upsyderlor · 22/10/2007 21:47

right i'm outa here - i've got last nights sopranos to watch
night all x

upsyderlor · 22/10/2007 21:49

fairyfay · 22/10/2007 21:52

I'm off to bed too.
goodnight everyone

Sputnik · 22/10/2007 21:54

no worries Derlor

dogtanian · 22/10/2007 22:01

Evening all!

Derlor, you are not a mean mummy! I'd be the crossest person ever if my dd bit ds and she would be in bed for a loooooong time! Hope dd2 is ok.

Having a dilema...ds is too big for his carseat! His head is at the top of it. I have been on the maxi cosi website and it says the Priori is from 9kg, but from 9 months. He is 9kg, but is 4 months tomorrow! I have put him in dd's seat just to see what he looked like and he looked too small. What do I do?

Sputnik · 22/10/2007 22:05

Hi Holly. I've always had this problem with DD. Which (magazine) says go by weight.

Right, now that's sorted can you tell us which bodypart your DH amputated this weekend

dogtanian · 22/10/2007 22:14

Well...he got realllllly pissed. Came home at midnight, I was still awake and reading. Dd and ds were asleep in bed with me, so I told dp he would have to sleep in the spare room as I wasn't having him that drunk in bed with the kids. He got all stroppy and stormed out the house (when I say stormed I actually mean stumbled, he was so drunk he could hardly talk and could not walk more than a few steps without tripping). I chased him up the road and dragged him back in. He then kept trying to escape from the house, he managed once and I had to chase him up the road again. At one point I had to wrestle the car keys from his hand and hide them to stop him driving!! He then decided he was going to go to bed. He wouldn't let me help him take his shoes off, so I had to stand there for literally about half an hour whilst he did it. I couldn't go to bed in case he tried to escape again. He then got in bed, fell asleep for 5 mins and started retching! I had to take him downstairs to the bathroom to make sure he was sick in the toilet. He then actually went to bed and snored so loudly that I had to sleep on the sofa. DD was awake at 6. Let's just say I was not a happy bunny sunday morning!

Sorry for the long story there. It was a weekend of hell!

He did take me for a driving lesson yesterday and let me sleep in this morning, so he is sort of forgiven!

Sputnik · 22/10/2007 22:21

Bloody hell. And you thought 2 year olds were hard work
The bit wwith the shoees reminds me of my DD

dogtanian · 22/10/2007 22:23

It was like having a child with severe ADHD.

Bloody stupid idiot...and he wonders why I hate him going out without me.

How are you sputnik?

Sputnik · 22/10/2007 22:31

Pretty good. My credit card is at risk though from ethnic alpaca knitwear, eg this

dogtanian · 22/10/2007 22:33

Oooo, that's really burn your bra, hairy armpits stuff, but I like it! Is it made of wheat and lentils?

My credit card is at serious risk from nappies...do I buy these!

Sputnik · 22/10/2007 22:34

Thing is I have just paid a huge cheque into my bank which was compensation for the car accident we had when I was pg with DD. But DH apparently has plans for this money, none of which probably involve Peruvian knitwear.
