Bumper - MN is addictive. Pleased to see you back (think I joined the day you took a short break).

Sorry your having a hard time with your mum. Will read through the thread now and put on any new ideas I have. FWIW, DS (16 weeks) goes to bed around 9pm (from 11pm a couple of weeks ago) and typically wakes between 3 and 5 am for a feed and always has done (occasionally 6am). I think you're doing really well.

Bumperlicious · 22/10/2007 11:12

oh yes lmn she needs lots of cuddles to make feel better!

how are you doing fury? was the wedding ok? what did you do with DS in the end? you must be knackered!

IwansMam · 22/10/2007 11:13

LMN - I always say bugger the housework . Guess that's why we got a cleaner when DS was 4 weeks and would not be put down. Enjoy the cuddles. I recommend a big box of chocs too.

Bumperlicious · 22/10/2007 11:14

thanks Iwansmam! addictive - gosh yes! are you new to mumnet or just this thread?

IwansMam · 22/10/2007 11:33

I've been lurking (reading obsessively!!!) around MN for a few weeks with the occasional post ... came across it when I was having both sleep and BF problems with DS. Daisy pointed me in the direction of this thread which I lurked on for about a week (trying to keep up ) before raising my head.

HellHathNoFury · 22/10/2007 11:50

Bumper the wedding was fine...I arrived 2 hours late, bloody M1 traffic, but alls well in the end.
Took the photos - not very many as unco-operative family members complaining of cold and hunger (tch, some people!)

Got back home last night to find our garden had been broken into. Am going shopping tonight for alarm systems and razorwire.

How was your MN Break?

Bumperlicious · 22/10/2007 11:58

Productive! I have read half a trash novel, done lots of laundry, DH and i are talking again, and he is fully back on board with the bfing and promising to be more supportive about it!

How scary about your garden . At least it wasn't your house, but still...tossers! Good luck with the razor wire!

justbeme · 22/10/2007 12:05

Afternoon!

14hrs solid!!
and she's back asleep again now!!

milkyJammy · 22/10/2007 12:06

Hi Iwansmum (and any other "new arrivals" I've not said Hi to).

We just had a good morning out and LO is asleep still, so I can have a sandwich and a drink and a quick spot on here

Bumper - sorry you're Mum's not giving you the support you need. But for what it's worth I think you're doing a grand job and that you're doing the right thing because IT FEELS RIGHT FOR YOU. Personally, I don't think we'll be doing the BLW route but that's just our choice and I can see why people want to do it that way. But I also don't feel good about baby rice, largely because I've heard it tastes vile and I don't see why she should be subjected to it, but even before I'd heard that I just didn't like the idea much for no good reason.

IwansMam · 22/10/2007 12:10

Hi MJ.

JBM .

milkyJammy · 22/10/2007 12:13

Yes definitely JBM

milkyJammy · 22/10/2007 12:15

Bumper, I didn't want it to sounds as if what you're doing is only right because it feels right for you - there are LOTS of reasons why it's right, but I just wanted to emphasise that one.

justbeme · 22/10/2007 12:19

Just caught up!

Hi Ewansmam and everyone and welcome back Bumper!!
TBH, I think most of us have comments from older relatives etc
Breast feeding - "Oh but you just don't know if theyre getting enough do you?" - err yes she's putting on weight thank you.
and I havent told anyone about the BLW that I hope to try. So we'll all come on here Bumper and moan about our relatives together!!

Miserable guests Fury! Do yo have a load voice? The wedding I went to recently the photographer couldnt make himself heard to organise everyone.

justbeme · 22/10/2007 12:19

loud

milkyJammy · 22/10/2007 12:25

Can I ask for a quick bit of advice? LO is asleep still after being out in the pushchair. I really don't want to wake her - I know that if I do she won't easily go back to sleep and will be grumpy all afternoon - but am concerned about her overheating. The house is unheated at the moment and I'm OK in a tshirt and jumper. She's got a jumper on but no jacket and is lying in a little snug carry cot thing (the Phil & Ted cocoon for those who are familiar) in the pushchair. The raincover is on, but not totally sealed so some air can get in and I've just opened the back door a little so that she gets a bit of cool air. I think she'll be OK but any opinions?

LittleMissNorty · 22/10/2007 12:28

I'm sure she'll be fine MJ - can you lift off the raincover? My LO sweats visibly around her hairline when she's hot....as long as her head is uncovered (as I think that's where they lose most of their heat) I'm sure she'll be fine

IwansMam · 22/10/2007 12:30

MJ, take rain cover off if you can. Keep an eye on her but would have thought she'll be ok (just done this with DS)

justbeme · 22/10/2007 12:31

Abso fine - i'd just take raincover off
is it raining then?

IwansMam · 22/10/2007 12:31

x-post

milkyJammy · 22/10/2007 12:33

The raincover does up with velcro and I've learnt from bitter experience that undoing it wakes her up. But I can feel a good draft coming through so she must be in a cool environment, a bit like being outside, so I think she'll be OK.

milkyJammy · 22/10/2007 12:34

Will go check her in a while though to be safe

justbeme · 22/10/2007 12:35

I thought I was abit wicked on my dog walk just now - 'cos all L was wearing in her pram was vest/long sleeved top /skirt and a blanket - no jacket or hat
But she was smiling and fell asleep - so must be ok.

Im off to collet DD1 soon, she's staying till thursday evening - so I'll be able to get some housework done as she loves playing with L and changing nappies etc (although she hates washable nappies cos they get wet!)

TALLULAHSPELL · 22/10/2007 12:38

Just read your thread Bump. Could have written it myself. We are in xactly same situ with DD no longer sleeping thru & DPs & SIL constantly banging on about solids. I was given bisc in milk @ 6 weeks & SIL started weaning DN @16 wks. Is doing my head in - so m uch so that have to escape overseas . No doubt MIL will start same caper . Is annoying to keep having same convo but I just say I will start solids when I feel DD is ready whether that is sooner or later I can't say. Will be guided by my own insticts, not the calendar, or what others are doing/ have done.

Anyway gotta go, got a plane to catch

LittleMissNorty · 22/10/2007 12:38

My LO rarely wears a coat (she's got loads of costs and cardi's as well) cos she's either in a car seat or in a cosytose in her buggy...which keeps her plenty warm enough.... I'm sure people think I'm cruel sometimes as she wears so little but she rarely complains...she hardly ever wears a vest and a babygro...just one or the other...she's a hot little bod like her dad!

justbeme · 22/10/2007 12:39

Have a lovely time Tallulah!!
