DH says I have to go back to work at school today. if i don't go they've won. erm, they have

DM is babysitting later as she says I have to go with DH to the meeting with the head & teacher.

I like hiding away with my head in the sand...

Ria are you a teacher?

Oh my god I had to actually do some work yesterday. And today I have a meeting. The bubble might finally have burst!

RANT TIME

In 14 DAYS we have only had 2 items of post. A bank statement, and junk addressed to someone else. Where is my goddamn post?!

riabutterflew · 18/10/2007 11:41

nope, not a teacher - perish the thought (actually, that's what I fancy doing when my DCs are old enough). I am currently a school dinner lady of the playground supervising sort.

I have worked in publishing, been a waitress - several times, a youth worker, sold insurance and worked in a mailing factory. I started at school when ds1 started (to keep an eye on him) and have done it on and off since to keep my CRB check up to date so I could help in school to do a teaching assistant course, but I keep having babies!

My area of expertise is "wasted potential"

I loved my playground dinner ladies!!

There is still time to do the teaching course if that's what you want to do. Do you like your job?

I hate mine. I want to change career..but this is so...convenient. But I hate it

HellHathNoFury · 18/10/2007 11:51

I miss DS today I didn't get to see him this morning
I am consoling myself with toblerone which is making the misery worse

andiem · 18/10/2007 11:52

Ria you still have loads of time

fury could you do anyhting else my dh works in broadcast software qute a niche market me thinks

foxystein · 18/10/2007 11:58

Ria - yes! Evil is exactly how I felt. So your meeting is about DS1? Is it to discuss bullying and dyslexia? You have permission to go into over-protective mother mode. And if you get upset/angry, blame the hormones. They've got to be good for something.

foxystein · 18/10/2007 12:04

sorry to hear you are missing you little man Fury

HellHathNoFury · 18/10/2007 12:15

He was sleeping so soundly this morning and I didn't want to wake him and now I really miss him.

Andiem...there are a thousand things I could do, but it's such a pain finding the time to learn/gain experience in a new career when the one you have pays well and is 'easy'. Everytime I think Ah I know I'll do this... I get a call about the next contract and it's too 'convenient' to just do that.

LittleMissNorty · 18/10/2007 12:22

Glad you're going to the meeting Ria - they need sorting out!

Foxy - so glad all is ok with DS1....must be a logistical nightmare as well as the worrying etc...did you have the others looked after?

My DD has got a chest infection ....just got back from doctors.....her chestiness just wouldn't shift...tried olbass oil, steamy bathroom etc and now got amoxycillin. I was given a syringe but the WHOLE 2.5ml came out of her mouth as soon as it went in...she wasn't impressed.....to be fair, it was revolting...I've got to do this 3 times a day for the next week - any tips girls?

Daisy....have a great holiday....enjoy the sauna

HellHathNoFury · 18/10/2007 12:25

Can you squirt it in and quickly give her a bottle?
Poor DD

LittleMissNorty · 18/10/2007 12:27

Don't want to choke her....god why can't they make it taste nice....she just had baby rice and apple and loved it...then that...urgh. Will have another go later...now I see why I was given 100mls of it!

foxystein · 18/10/2007 12:34

I think you aim the syringe into the inside of the cheek. it relys mainly on luck though LMN!

Sputnik · 18/10/2007 12:54

The ABs they give here are orange flavoured, Baby S loved them so can't help you there.

WTF, I just got a phone call... he wwass due for jabs tomorrow and they're saying THEY'VE RUN OUT OF VACCINE!! FFS

andiem · 18/10/2007 13:15

lmn as foxy says aim for the cheek pocket at the back of the mouth they have to swallow it then

just done shopping phew forgot no internet shop this week as going away and realised have no food

am going to body shop party tonight so that should be good

foxystein · 18/10/2007 13:20

Foxy's tip of the day:

don't leave your 2 yo in the lounge eating beans on toast unless you like washing sofa covers.

disclaimer: these children are only allowed to eat meals on the sofa infront of the tv in exceptional circumstances, of which being bedridden is one.

LittleMissNorty · 18/10/2007 13:25

. I didn't screw the top of DDs bottle on earlier and both of us got completely plastered in milk.....that was before we done the baby rice and pureed apple and that went everywhere and then when I was following the instructions for the syringe and it said "insert the universal stopper, attach syringe and invert"...I inverted and the universal stopper didn't stop anything and we both got covered in that as well!

Thanks for your tips re antibiotics, I'll have another go later on!

andiem · 18/10/2007 13:32

hee hee

dogtanian · 18/10/2007 13:46

Afternoon everyone!

Yes foxy, 2 YOs and food + sofas are not a good thing! My dd only ever eats her breakfast on the sofa (I stand with the hoover hose ready and waiting!). She makes such a mess eating. She is a bit big for a highchair now so she has her own little table and chair in the front room that she eats at. SHe still makes a huge mess even though she wears a catchy type bib. When do they grow out of spilling food everywhere?

My post from the last 85 years has just arrived! A massive pile with loads of good stuff (and some bills )! The nursing bra I am testing has arrived as well. It looks really comfy, but very matronly and not sexy at all (that is prob a good thing, don't want to give dp any ideas!).

Right, off to defrost my fridge! All the shopping from Tesco has just arrived and I can't fit it in the fridge coz it is so thick with ice!!

Elsbells · 18/10/2007 13:47

Hi all

Foxy hope DS is doing well. My DS had the exact same thing done Aug 06 over at Great Ormond St. How is he finding the catheter? Has it caused any bladder spasms? DS had severe spasms so they up'd the medication for it. Keep an eye out for that.

Fury, it must be hard missing your little man. You're halfway through the day so not long now.

dogtanian · 18/10/2007 13:55

Sorry, just reading down the thread!

FOxy, glad your ds is ok, the poor little man. Hope he is not in too much pain xx

TA, your CM sounds fab! It's really good that she loves having him, I bet it makes you feel much better about leaving him with her.

LMN, hope you dd is ok. No tips on the ABs. Neither of mine have ever been ill (touch wood), so we have never had any medicine hell. Hope you manage to get it in her and that it works. Can you mix it into milk?

Right...I really must go and defrost my fridge!

foxystein · 18/10/2007 14:04

Hi Els!
Did your DS have the same thing? hypospadias? or a cirumcision?

Its very hard to find people who have been through it. Most people don't broadcast it. Well, I do, obviously.

Fury, how old is your nephew and did he have surger?

HellHathNoFury · 18/10/2007 14:05

soooo sleeeepppyyyy

am dreading tomorrow. Leaving work early to drive to essex. Then saturday morning driving to milton keynes for evil friends wedding. then back to essex. then sunday back to reading. Then monday back to work.

I am going to exist in this semi-conscious state for a few days I think.

Elsbells · 18/10/2007 14:08

Hey Foxy
Ethan was born with hypospadia - very minor just underneath where the opening should be but still needed surgery. He just had his follow-up a few months ago to make sure all was "working ok" and it was fine.

Elsbells · 18/10/2007 14:09

Ohh Fury your just spending the weekend on the motorway then.

What did you get for your evil friend. I am intrigued.
