Off to bed myself. Night all. xxxx

liath · 17/10/2007 07:33

Morning!

Anyone else dreading the hour going back already ? Ds woke up at 6am which woke dd up who started wailing because she was still tired......grrr!

Great news, Leaky - I hope Eva continues to do well. I guess the next few months will be stressful for your ILs as they'll be desperate for her to do all her developmental stuff on time.

Well done to your sister, Elkiedee. My middle sister is a solicitor, just gone back after her Mat leave. Her company have been pretty good giving her reduced hours etc.

Ds can't sit yet. He pushes himself around backwards which can be a bit frustrating for him as he clearly wants to go forwards. I keep spotting him disappearing rapidly under the sofa with a look of total bewilderment on his face!

MurderousMaveta · 17/10/2007 08:19

Morning!

Such good news Leaky re. Eva, it must be lovely for her mum and dad to be able to properly hold her at last. I guess maybe your MIL is sounding a bit negative just because of the stress and strain that you've all been through. Doctors can tend towards the negative I find just to prepare you for the worst and it's kind of catching. I hope that is all it is and that Eva now comes on in leaps and bounds xx

Congrats to your sister Elkie! What a day for good news

Well I've just arrived at work, would you believe the day I catch the train it decides to POUR down. And no umbrella. And 15mins walk to the office. Full on thunder and lightening torrential rain, not just drizzle. I look like I've just come out of the shower, luckily my friend lives very near and have been there to dry off, borrow a change of clothes and borrow an umbrella. Phew. Need a cuppa!

SharpMolarBear · 17/10/2007 08:21

Oh yeah (re. the hour going back)..no no no!! He's already starting to stir at about 5.30am [eek] so don't think I can handle it going any earlier!

Sexonlegs · 17/10/2007 08:53

Hope you dry out Maveta!

Elkie, sorry, I missed the bit about your sister. Fab news! Which law firm is she going to?

B was awake in the night for about an hour having had a bad dream. Knackered today.

Need to go as B is demanding I help her with something!!

xx

SharpMolarBear · 17/10/2007 08:58

Swimming?

Beautiful day here after a rainy start My dad is coming down this pm so taking all the girls to local aquarium to look at the fish.

What's everyone up to today?

NorthernLurker · 17/10/2007 10:36

elder daughter home sick today - not too bad but definately got a temperature. B has been v grumpy this morning so far - think its teeth, she has just got one through. Now asleep on me!DH away today and tonight - think its going to be long 24 hours!
Also fed up about house - not a sniff from anyone for over a week and am v worried we will lose our dream house.....
So - cheer me up and help me with ongoing footmuff for bugaboo dilemma. GMM kindly steered me in direction of one for sale on here which was tempting but then I was given some cash by relative to buy something for B and so think I will go back to the lovely independant baby shop for it. Dilemma is - Bug is blue with blue fleeces so blue is logical choice - but can't get idea of pink one out of my head. Votes please!!

NorthernLurker · 17/10/2007 10:37

I didn't think of swimming - thought it was bath time!

CaptainDippy · 17/10/2007 10:40

Ooooooh, PINK We're v.pink in this household so pink gets my vote! Hope things move along with the house v.soon honey. xx

NorthernLurker · 17/10/2007 10:44

ok one vote for pink Re house - I need to have faith that something will happen but it's really hard. Was so disappointed when buyers pulled out. Aquarium sounds nice. I'm going to take my girls for horse and carriage ride next week when they're off school. It's all they want to do...

CaptainDippy · 17/10/2007 10:48

Oooooh, horse and carriage ride sounds lovely - The closest we've got to that is the good old Dotto Train down at the seafront. Praying for house siutation - ok if I post on the prayer thread?

elkiedee · 17/10/2007 10:51

I'm feeling really frustrated at the moment because I can't find proper information on taking D swimming, something I'm keen to do. It doesn't have to be totally structured, but I'd hoped to be able to find out about something where other mums and babies are also at the teaching pool, and it's not all bigger kids or even toddlers.

I was just told by one pool that all courses are booked until the New Year - nothing about special sessions or anything. When can I find out about NY? From 15 December. FFS.

The Council is concerned here that the same people go round all the local groups. Well, perhaps they'd reach a wider range of people if they made it possible to find out about services any other way than talking to people at said local groups. I had to travel into Wood Green to find out about the mum and baby group round the corner from people who come from quite a way away. Grrr.

Sorry for that rant.

My sister's going to be working for a legal aid firm in South London, as she has her heart set on helping and advising refugees. Funding in this area has been slashed so there aren't a huge number of jobs in it, but my impression is that in all areas the training contract is the hardest job to land.

NorthernLurker · 17/10/2007 10:51

Thanks = please do, I should do it myself but feels so self indulgent after all we're ok and have nothing to worry about compared to so many people. Am crying now and feel v useless

NorthernLurker · 17/10/2007 10:57

Oh thanks Elkie that's given me something to post about other than my silly worries Not into swimming myself (bad mummy) but I have a friend who has taken her daughter to a swimming baby group for months - its held at a private gym - lovely warm pool. Can't remember how much she said it was but it didn't sound too bad. Unfortunately we are no where near London but my point is (when I get there)that it might be worth ringing round gyms to see what they offer. Excellent, stopped crying now !

CaptainDippy · 17/10/2007 10:59

Grrrr - annoys me when I can't find out proper info on stuff, Elkie - Could you pop into your local library? They are usually full of info on local stuff and very helpful ime.

{{{{{{northernlurker}}}}}}}} Not useless - just stressed and a mum with chldren - you don't need any other excuse! Quickly, eat some chocolate!

NorthernLurker · 17/10/2007 11:01

munch munch mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm only one wispa bar left in house now

elkiedee · 17/10/2007 11:06

The library staff in the branch in the sports centre which also has a pool were much better than the pool staff, but don't seem to hold the info I was after either!

CaptainDippy · 17/10/2007 11:10

Elkie.

Oooooh, I love Whispas - they are yummmmeeee!

elkiedee · 17/10/2007 11:22

Never mind, I am going out now with D to a Muswell Hill cafe for coffee with a friend. I'm sure things will look brighter. Loooks like I'll have to take D to the nearest pool on my next free morning, probably not for a couple of weeks now anyway. I don't have plans next week but it's half term, and my mum is probably coming the following week.

CaptainDippy · 17/10/2007 11:48

Have fun, Elkie.

Off to make lunch for S, P, dad & I and then picking up K and then off to the Aquarium ......

NorthernLurker · 17/10/2007 11:53

B been absolutely misreable all morning except when asleep. Got some calpol into her just now and she has now played independently for 4 mins! Crying again but bit of an improvement on earlier.

Sexonlegs · 17/10/2007 12:15

Hi all

Elkie, enjoy the cafe. Sounds lovely. V sophisticated and cool. Have you tried looking at a website called all4kids - try googling it. It has lists of groups/activities for babies/children all over the UK.

CD, enjoy the Aquarium.

NL, hope your wee ones are feeling better soon. Good old Calpol!

Lunch for me. Back later. x
