Evening all.
Wilkie - sorry you're feeling so rubbish, hope you're feeling better soon, and that dh shifts off the sofa eventually
lal - hope your dad gets better soon too. ds1 spent the whole day in his pj's last week - he didn't want to get dressed and I couldn't be bothered to argue, and I love spending the day in my pj's so who am I to argue?!
Talking of poorly people - where's canmummy? How was her mil?
Becks - good to see you, how's things?
UD - sounds hopeful on the house front, yay!

My cousin is okish. She still is talking gibberish, and she can't use her right side, and they've discovered her eyesight has been affected too. They did scan her, but she moved at a vital point so they have to scan her again to decide if they need to operate or not.

Bloody crap evening. Trying to cook supper, ds1 took a tantrum, ds2 decided to eat soil out of my pot plants and cat decided to bring a rabbit in to kill and eat. At the same time. Aaaaaaaaaaaaagh! However, a G&T and wine later and the boys are in bed, and dh has offered to take ds2 tonight, so all's well. BTW, UD, platitude though it is, all babies are different. ds2 has been allowed to feed whenever he wants, in fact when he was losing weight I was waking him to eat and force feeding him. He's still dropped to 3 feeds a day, by himself. I don't think that co-sleeping etc always makes the difference; sometimes it's just the way they are IYKWIM. And I worry he's feeding too little...go figure!

Urban- Hope Z is feeling better today. Sounds good about Chesham too. I dont think it matters what you do, you always wonder if it was the right thing and if you had done X would your life had been any better. I dont suppose we will ever know!

Oh no Wilkie. Hope you are feeling better soon xxx.

Rgee- thats interesting, I didnt realise that is what you do (sorry if I have been blind and not noticed you talking loads about it on here . Is it repeated? I was watching Alfie. The ending is really annoying. It just stops!

2happy- Mmmm. Mud. Hope things start to improve for your cousin.

Laughalot- Afew weeks ago I left Luke in his pjs all day by mistake and when DH got home told me he looked like a chav sitting in his pjs in the afternoon I too think there is nothing better than being in your pjs all day. Esp if you are also infront of the tv. I cant remember the last time I did that.

Took Ruth to the Doctors today about her ankles. They roll out slightly so that her instep looks too close to the floor iyswim. They have refered her to the paediatrician and she said that it might right itself or she might need to do exercises or need shoes. She wouldnt really tell me much but didnt seem worried. I am though. I was expecting her to say that I was being a crazy mother as I have been telling DH it will be fine and only went to stop him nagging. Feel bad now as I could have done it months ago. I am telling myself it will be fine but it is all so worrying isnt it.

Also Luke has spent the day battering Ruth! Today he has bitten her nose (and left a mark), pushed her over when she was sitting 4 times (one of which she landed on his thomas tracks and screamed for ages after which he did seem quite sorry and kept come up to her and stroking her), smacked her on the head twice (both in the trolly at Asda- she gave as good as she got though and gave him a great big smack on the tummy- he looked so shocked!) and lay on her twice (one of which I came into the room and found him bouncing on her ). I have cleared out Luke's old playpen which was full of toys and I am going to start putting her in there for her own protection!

laughalot · 16/10/2007 20:42

Dragon it is so annoying when they hurt them Aidan now thinks he can smack her if she crawls near the telly or near the fireplace like he never did it when he was little. I get so angry with him but shes getting her own back by playing with his cars

2HappyFrighteningPeople · 17/10/2007 07:33

DH - I was just reading your post as ds2 started to wail - ds1 was pressing the lego box lid down onto his head

Anyway, just popped on to say finally ds2 appears to be growing a tooth!! I know some kids don't get them until a year, but ds1 was 5m, so I've been expecting it for ages. It's just as well I didn't wait to see if his tongue tie would cut naturally on his teeth !

eandh · 17/10/2007 07:45

morning

we have the problem re hitting, ellie frequently sits on hattie, shouts at her and shoves her, although hattie gets her revenge by crawling through whatever ellie is playing with Am such a bad mm this time with ellie I updated her baby book religiously, Hattie has some fille din but I need to do teeth, crawling, clapping etc and will have to guess the dates [shameful face] especially as I am 2nd child and was always peeved off that my brothers baby book was all complete and I didnt even have one

had a funny night hattie kept crying but when I went in she was asleep so assuming it was a 'pain' cry from the incisor thats cutting through. DH woke her up at 5.20 when he left for work so she is back in bed and ellie is talking my ears off!!

We are off to mothercare later aspixi photo there and I want some new shots of hattie to give as xmas presents to the oldies (am hoping they may do one of them together! Then this afternoon picking up the smoby car.

DH - Am sure all willbe fine with Ruth best to get it checked and sorted now, let us know how you get on

Lizzzombie · 17/10/2007 07:52

Morning! Or should I say afternoon? I've been up since about 3.30am Dylan has the mother of all colds, green snot etc. and a honking cough. Poor little mite, cant keep his dummy in as he has to breath through his nose!

Eah - fab tip about that tip up truck, I'm so getting that!

DH - poor little Ruth! My cousin has a DS who is 18 months older than DD, and her 4 year old DD is now a little toughie because he was so physical towards her. She can hold her own now though.

2Happy - We STILL have no teeth here! & you poor thing about the rabbit etc last night! Hope you have recovered.
A friend of mine was telling me about her 2 yearold DD who walked into the kitchen last week clutching a snake and asking what it was? My mate said she just about managed not to scream, and eventually managed to wrestle the 'snake' from her. It turns out it was a Slow Worm. Whose ever seen or heard of those? Apparently the difference is that snakes dont have eyelids and slow worms do. Just in case your LO ever brings one in...or your cat!

Rgee - Stop eating chocolate in front of me. I'm trying to loose weight and you are making me fat!
I have to make a birthday cake for DP today sometime. Have lots of chocolate jazzes to decorate it with! Not sure how many will make it to the cake though!

Wilkie - hope you are feeling better soon. You poor thing. (have you tried on your skinny jeans yet?!)

We are off to look at our 4th nursery this morning. This is turning into a night mare.
1st one only had afternoon spaces from March
2nd one has no spaces till July
3rd one seemed to be run by teenage drop outs
BUT, this 4th one doesnt take them till they are 18 months!

My other local one has just gone bankrupt.
I can so empathise with parents looking for schools now!

Ccatch y'all later! x

Lizzzombie · 17/10/2007 07:55

Eah - you could NEVER be described as a bad mum!

eandh · 17/10/2007 07:59

thanks lizz - have you thought about childminders as a back up in case nursery doesnt look likely, you can find local registered ones on a specific website (will look it up in a mo) or ask onthe childminder part of mn if anyone has any vacancies

Lizzzombie · 17/10/2007 08:07

Thats my next port of call.
The local council has quite a good service in locating the right childcare for people, so I will try them next.
The only problem is I will be 'blind' booking as I dont have the hours in a job (yet) for which I will need childcare, but I know I will need childcare when I get a job, and as it goes so quickly (places) I have to book it asap.
Its a vicious circle!

eandh · 17/10/2007 08:09

I think childminders can be slightly more flexible so fingers crossed if this nursery isnt suitable then childminder may work (loads of cm around here begging for mindees as think lots of people do childminding these days so not always enough children for them to look after!!)

Lizzzombie · 17/10/2007 12:40

Ok, nursery this morning was lovely, BUT it has no outside bit and can't take Dylan until he is 18 months.
I have one left to look at, have an appointment for next Wednesday. Next door neighbour goes there, DS 3 years. They take from 4 months and have spaces after xmas...fingers crossed!

Now all I have to do is find a job I like!

Shimmer · 17/10/2007 15:25

Afternoon all. The nursery next week sounds good Lizz, hope it all works out. I've kind of been avoiding thinking about childcare, although I know that we'll need somewhere from Feb so i should probably start thinking about it soon. I am still very undecided between nursery/child minder/nanny and it's just really not a decision i want to make at all

How are you feeling today Wilkie?

Lizzzombie · 17/10/2007 15:58

Are you going back to work in Feb Shimmer?

RGEEnie · 17/10/2007 18:24

Good luck with the nursery hunt Lizz. It all sounds like a nightmare. And Slow Worm?? WTF?? A rabbit though 2H - suppose I should be grateful for decapitated mice.

So, what's everyone getting (got - EAH) their lo's for Xmas? Ive got a ride on toy, mega bloks and a noahs ark soft toy thingy. Am sort of thinking maybe I shouldn't get anything else as she will be sooo spoilt anyway, but then am thinking that makes me feel really tight (total expenditure ohhh all of £25). But with her birthday a week later too. Not really sure what to do.I've got a few stocking filler things but they're really for older kids so am hanging on to them for another year or so.

Eah - lo's have been talking again. P started crying c 10pm, then funny gulping noises almost about to scream at 3am. But in her sleep. This past week she's had a couple of screaming sessions, but wierd as she's still asleep when they happen. Wondering if it's nightmares.

2H / Lizz teeth are overated. I was accidently bitten last week when helping her eat her banana. My finger really hurt

Well DH is playing golf again. In the dark again. Yawn.....

WeeWitchyWilkie · 17/10/2007 19:11

Still feeling shite - ventured into work for half a day but spent the morning with horrific diahorrea so came home.

RGee - we have set a budget of £50 for J. So far have got Mega Blocks (great minds eh), a battery powered nursery rhyme book which plays the songs too, a wooden animal jigsaw, a tube of milky buttons and 2 books.

Mum and dad have got him a Smoby Ride On. Sister is getting him bath toys.

Sorry - but I think people that spend £100's on their kids are daft. Even when they are older. Mum and Dad never spent more than £75 each on me and sis which I intend to do with J (skinflint momma).

Lizz - personally, I love CM more than a nursery cos I like the 1:1 touch but I think when J is older I will switch to nursery for the flexibility of hours/not closing when they go on hols etc. Also found CM cheaper £25 per day as opposed to nursery which is £32.

eandh · 17/10/2007 19:12

my dh gone out to watch local footie team play

We have got ellie a dolls house as main present and then some colouring things, light and trace machine, hairbands, dressing up stuff, books, pretend hair styling kit (she loves doing hair!) dora stuff and other bits sounds lots but it all (apart from dolls house) fits in one black bag in loft so cant be that much

Hattie has a new shape sorter (ellies is a bit 'tired') a hammer/peg thing, pop up musical thing, books, fifi wind up tv thingy, hand puppets, her ride on car, and some basic puzzles (think there may be one or two othe things)

Basically they have 1 big present from us and 10 other presents from 'santa' mixture of 3 or 4 small things and 6/7 medium sized stuff, overall spent around £75 on each of them but actual stuff worth more as I buy in the sales through the year.

Had the photos done this morning and they were both giggling and laughing especially the ones together, am going back to view on 2nd november (good job i have a bonus due this monh had a 'christmas' one done of each of them hattie in santa suit/hat and ellie in girls santa red velevt dress/white bolero and hat although had to have them seperately as they kept pulling each others hats off.

Tesco/matalan have cute '1st christmas' t-shirts etc in have got hattie an outfit but she'll only wear it for present opening then they'll be in 'proper' clothes (family tradition everyone has new outfit at christmas!) plus got them new christmas pj's for xmas eve and going to get a real christmassy dvd that ellie can open mid xmas eve afternoon and we can watch together (dh will be at work) also we are fibbing to her and not telling her its xmas eve or she'll never go to sleep shes excited already and its only october!!

WeeWitchyWilkie · 17/10/2007 19:13
