Ok, Loubie 37 posted this on our thread back in February, and I can remember thinking, "ha ha ha - that'll never happen to me. My perfect baby would never do any of that...."
I tempted fate.
I think we all need a bit of a giggle again:
OK, here's my situation. My Mummy has had me for almost 7 months. The first few months were great I cried, she picked me up and fed me, anytime, day or night. Then something happened. Over the last few weeks, she has been trying to STTN (sleep thru the night). At first, I thought it was just a phase, but it is only getting worse. I've talked to other babies, and it seems like it's pretty common after Mummies have had us for around 6 months. Here's the thing: these Mummies don't really need to sleep. It's just a habit. Many of them have had some 30 years to sleepthey just don't need it anymore. So I am implementing a plan. I call it the Crybaby Shuffle. It goes like this: Night 1cry every 3 hours until you get fed. I know, it's hard. It's hard to see your Mummy upset over your crying. Just keep reminding yourself, it's for her own good. Night 2cry every 2 hours until you get fed. Night 3every hour. Most Mummies will start to respond more quickly after about 3 nights. Some Mummies are more alert, and may resist the change longer. These Mummies may stand in your doorway for hours, shhhh-ing. Don't give in. I cannot stress this enough: CONSISTENCY IS KEY!! If you let her STTN (sleep through the night), just once, she will expect it every night. I KNOW IT'S HARD! But she really does not need the sleep, she is just resisting the change. If you have an especially alert Mummy, you can stop crying for about 10 minutes, just long enough for her to go back to bed and start to fall asleep. Then cry again. It WILL eventually work. My Mummy once stayed awake for 10 hours straight, so I know she can do it. Last night, I cried every hour. You just have to decide to stick to it and just go for it. BE CONSISTENT! I cried for any reason I could come up with. My sleep sack tickled my foot. I felt a wrinkle under the sheet. My mobile made a shadow on the wall. I burped, and it tasted like pears. I hadn't eaten pears since lunch, what's up with that? The cat said "meow". I should know. My Mummy reminds me of this about 20 times a day. LOL. Once I cried just because I liked how it sounded when it echoed on the monitor in the other room. Too hot, too cold, just rightdoesn't matter! Keep crying!! It took awhile, but it worked. She fed me at 4am. Tomorrow night, my goal is 3:30am. You need to slowly shorten the interval between feedings in order to reset your Mummies' internal clocks. P.S. Don't let those rubber things fool you, no matter how long you suck on them, no milk will come out. Trust me.

Lizzzombie · 18/10/2007 18:47

Dylan basically cried all morning, then slept from 12.30 till 3pm, then cried until 6pm and has just fallen asleep again.
I have forcabily 'injected' (with a syringe) calpol into his mouth when he was screaming.

I wish these fucking teeth would come through. I truly am not looking forward to tonight. He is currently passed out with no tea, no evening milk and still in his clothes.
Hey ho...bring it on...anyone got any speed or pills? I think I need a bit of an extra kick to get me through the night! x

RGEEnie · 18/10/2007 18:48

It's the bit about pears. That always makes me rofl

Lizzzombie · 18/10/2007 19:25

Its just so true isnt it!
When they are crying for no apparent reason I just say to myself, he's burped and tasted pears. thats all it is! panic over!

laughalot · 18/10/2007 19:31

Hee hee lizz get using medised it will knock him out.

Dragonhart · 18/10/2007 20:08

Jodie- Poor Ethan and dd Hope you get a full nights sleep soon xxx

Vino- Fingers crossed about the viewer

I love that message Lizz. Still quoting it to my dsis! Hope you have a better night too. Sending sleepy vibes.

No news really. Luke still not right. Ruth still not moving around in any way (but I am very jealous of the fact that she can suck her toes and when sitting, put her nose on the floor between her legs!). DH off today and tomorrow then working sat sun. So it feels like sat night to me .

WeeWitchyWilkie · 18/10/2007 20:11

Lizz - MEDISED!!!! Works a treat.

Shimmer · 18/10/2007 21:01

Hiya. Didn't make it to JR unfortuntely, but DP has gone so at least 1 of us got to go.

Hope DJ's still sleeping Lizz! F's had a couple of awful days with teething but luckily the grumpyness has never lasted more than a day at a time... so DJ should be fine again tomorrow...

PMSL at Z's jumbo knob puzzle UD!

You girls have totally got me obsessed with Christmas shopping now!! I looked up those mega blocks that a couple of you said you'd got for LOs and they looked ace so i ordered some from Toys-r-us, and while i was there found several other little things to add on.. you know... to make it worth the postage Also just ordered this walkerfor F as haven't got round to getting him a walker yet and I think this one is SOOOOO gorgeous! I love this website btw, lovely things, though quite pricey.

Those of you with experience of previous Christmases with LOs - how the flip to you pursude them not to pull the Christmas tree down???????

eandh · 18/10/2007 21:13

LIZZ - Medised and calcold and calnight are all the same thing and all make them sleep (well works for around 7 hours on hattie then she wakes )

Shimmer that truck is so cute and not sure about the tree as ellies 1st xmas she was only 13weeks and 2nd xmas was 15 monthsso left it alone, think I am going ot put tree in corner with something in front of it.

Ellies parent evening went well got a look at her keystage folder (it'll eventually transfer with her to the school and goves an ide of where they are etc) apparently she concentrates, very good at planning plays freely with other children and is methodical but can easily be bored if the subject doesnt interest her (now that sounds very similar to my school reports ) apparently she is a different cild this term compared to summer and she is very caring and considerate and often looks after younger oones or helps other children (ie turns on taps or will get a towel to dry her hands on) the only thing they did say is that she is very obsessive with washing her hands (think I spend to much time wiping her face/hands) and often washes them every half hour so am going to have to make an effort to let her get a bit messier at home

eandh · 18/10/2007 21:15

oooh and me and eddas are on pre school committee now and have our 1st meeting on 8th November!!

And I'll have my tissues on 12th dec as it'll be her first nativity play [sob][sob] she's goin got be so cute

Dragonhart · 18/10/2007 23:03

Shimmer- We tied a bit of thick string around the middle of the tree and attached it to our curtain rail. It went around the middle and behind so you couldnt see it. I also bought silver string so that it blended in.

Now stopping them grabbing the decorations off the bottom of the tree, that is another matter

Congrat EAH! I am soooooooo looking forward to Luke's first Nativity play. He is so gorgeous with his golden curls how could he be anything but the angel

Can I have your opinion on a pram walker I have seen and really want to get Ruth. On this website it implies that it is suitable for first walkers but I have seen it on other sites saying 2+ and 3+. What do you recon? I wanted to give her something that would last as she wont get another big present until nearly her 2nd bday at christmas next year. It was easier for Luke as he has a bday inbetween christmases. I always have some doubts about age ranges and she already plays with alot of Luke's toys that are 1+ and 2+.

gobletofblood · 19/10/2007 04:29

UD - ta for info about slings etc. I only want it for taking Ellen up to nursery in the mornings cos she is getting so heavy and I've had probs with my back since having her. Nursery is only up the road but not far enough to be worth putting her in and out of the car or using buggy. I saw the hip seat on street doctors this week and it seemed to be just the thing I needed. BTW the ring slings are just not me. I have a bushbaby rucksack but just ant something small for throwing in the back of the car once she's safely delivered to nursery. I walk up with her and DH locks up the house then picks me up outside nursery.

I can't sleep. Been awake since 2 am.

SHimmer I forgot to say yest that I was v envious of you having jonathon ross tickets. Is it pot luckor can you book them in advance type thing? DH would love that as a surprise. Oh I just read that didn't go -poor you missing Take That.

Think i will have to loo up mega blocks too cos never heard of them.

DH - LOVE the pram walker. Wish I had seen that before I bought the wooden one in bloomingmarvellous although Ellen is quite happy with that. DH thinks its odd that girls have prams and dolls (not sure how he got that idea) seems to be against ellen ever having a doll. I can't wait to get her a doll, pram, baby car seat, cot.....yep....the works!

E&H what a nice report for Ellie. You must be happy.

Wilkie - get better vibes from here x

rgee I will text u about tonight but ye stil fancy it. I may be propping my eyes open though!

My parents are staying at the mo, getting up at 5.30 cos DH dropping them off at airport on way to work. They are off to Isle of Man for a weeks hol so it means I have mums car again yippee. SO there is no point me going back to bed. I hope Ellen wants a long sleep today!

Yesterday after swimming my friends ds banged his head on the floor (you know how hard chaging room floors are) well he went white, spewed EVERYWHERE incl all over his mum and it turns out she has had to stay in hosp overnight with him. Hoping he is ok.

My posts always seem to be long

Lizzzombie · 19/10/2007 09:18

I have the medised but can't flipping get it down him. I have tried to disguise it in his milk but he has twigged this and he won't take it from a spoon, plus he spits it out of his mouth if I use a syringe.
Any other ideas?

The calpol must taste nicer as he will take that, but it just doesnt knock him out as much.

He has a proper little smokers cough. My poor little baby!

Lizzzombie · 19/10/2007 09:20

ps - Goblet - hope your friends LO is ok. That sounds dreadful. Poor thing.

laughalot · 19/10/2007 13:18

Yipee half term next week that means no rushing around in a morning. Teacher made me laugh earlier they had been asking all the kids what they are doing at half term when it was aidans turn he told them he is going to the pub for fish fingers and pop they said they couldnt stop laughing. We promised him yesterday that if he was good we would take him for a meal tomorrow at a new brewers fair that has just opened.

Im feeling sorry for myself its not actually that plesant but I shall share my misery I have thrush thanks to wearing tights for work but also my af has shown its face so you can imagine the mess im in........... also got a mega sore throat.

Vino hopr your friends lo is ok the poor thing.

Wilks are you any better ?

Who was asking about the xmas tree ? NIGHTMARE I was forever pulling aidan away from it so good luck think ill try dh tip.

Jodie it never rains but what it pours for you hope all the kiddies are better soon.

Eah well done you must be very proud of little ellie.

Lizz not sure how you could get medised down his throat, hope he is better soon both of mine have stinking colds.

Ud was looking at your profile earlier little z is such a cutie pie.

WeeWitchyWilkie · 19/10/2007 14:43

Of FFS I am STILL feeling sick. FIL has just rung to say MIL is in bed with it now after being with us for 2 days OOps. Any suggestions ANYONE to stop this queasy feeling??? I just feel really really sick. Diahorrea and sickness has stopped but feel so nauseous.

Sorry to whinge on and on but I a not a good patient. Feel very sorry for myself. DH has taken J out for most of the day so I can just sleep.

LAL - PMSL about A saying that. Out of the mouths of babes...

With your thrush and AF - make sure you aren't wearing tampons as they will help the thrush breed. Stick on pads and change every couple of hours and take a Canestan Once (oral tab) - that will clear it up. I am the Queen of Thrush. Me, sis and mum have always suffered!! Nice.

laughalot · 19/10/2007 14:50

Oh wilkie sorry you are still feeling so ill hope you feel better soon. I am crap with sickness but have you tried some toast ?

Mmmm so no tampons best get some pads then.

Lizzzombie · 19/10/2007 16:01

I always find coca cola or lemonade work for me when I am ill. With ready salted crisps too.
Then you get the sugar and salt and carbs which you need to rehydrate your body etc.

I mixed the medised in with a fruit pot and force fed my baby and eventually got it down him. He is now asleep. Poor thing looks awful, really ill. All pale with big red rumy eyes.
Not sure how DP will fare tomorrow when I am at work. I am half expecting him to turn up on the shop floor and hand me a screaming baby. Hopefully he will be a bit better by then.

Have a new addiction - Scrabulous on facebook. I cant stop playing...anyone want to challenge me? (I'm not that good!) x
