It takes all sorts milkyJ, but bleargh....
My poor DS nearly drowned at swimming this afternoon
The class is split in two and they take turns doing their bit in the big pool rather than the little pool. DH was sitting at the end with the little pool and DS and his class were at the bottom of the big pool (ie 25m away). We're not sure exactly what happened but there was an almighty commotion and when DH looked up, DS was in the water, no armbands, and sinking. He surfaced and went under a couple of times, but one of the other boys in his class had a bit of common sense and threw a woggle for DS to grab hold of till the instructor could get him out. DH siad he ran down the side of the pool and was about to jump in and get him (and he doesn't really do swimming). Apparently the instructor had told them all to sit at the edge of the pool and had turned to talk to one of the other instructors. DS said he slipped as he went to sit down and went head first into the water. DH said all the other bots were sitting, so whether DS was mucking about we don't know (they were out of DHs direct line of sight). But I think the instructor should have made sure they were all safe before he turned away.
Needless to say both DS and DH got a real fright and DS has said he doesn't want to go swimming ever again. He looked so pale and frightened when he got home
