@Busylizzie85 I must get one. My LO is chewing his hands and fingers so much. And with his nails growing so fast I'm afraid he will cut his gums. I'm constantly cutting his nails but they are long again before I know it

mrssunshinexxx · 09/09/2020 17:44

@MsMiaWallace yep won't be put down but I just put her in the sling and crack on she likes it in there
We did our first swimming lesson today she loved it

UKtoSK · 10/09/2020 01:50

@Magpie21 haha yeah these were screenshots from my insta stories! I always said I wouldn’t be that annoying person who fills their Instagram with baby photos but I am. But sharing on Instagram has been really great as I have so many mum friends and acquaintances who have messaged with wonderful words of advice and encouragement.
We’ve been starting the day with a walk so her first nap of the day is in her pram and it’s a great way to start the day for me. I was wondering though, it’s been so long since I was in England I can’t remember... how are the pavements for pram walking? The ones around us are so bumpy, full of pot holes or random gaps or ridges, often really narrow or slanted. It’s such a challenge to find a route that she can sleep without being woken up by the bumps every two minutes.

Busylizzie85 · 10/09/2020 11:40

12 week jabs today and what I did not know is this lot they do not recommend using calpol unless they develop a temperature! 🤞🏼 so far she's all good just fighting her naps as usual 🙄

@UKtoSK generally the pavements near me are pretty smooth so it’s not so bad. The biggest issue we have is trying to take the dog for a walk with the baby, most of the dog walking places near us don’t have decent paths, the places that do require you to have a dog on a leas but my lab needs to have a proper run around to get his energy out.

@Busylizzie85 yeah I believe it’s because the meningitis b is what causes the temperature and they’re only given at 8 & 16 weeks.
Hope your little one does ok with them.

Having a day where I just feel utterly pissed off that Covid has impacted so much of my pregnancy, birth & early weeks with my baby. With the latest announcements in England and all this talk of it impacting Christmas I just feel so utterly fed up of Covid taking the shine off of things!

SRS1311 · 10/09/2020 12:56

@Gigitree I was just thinking the same about Covid. It was bad enough when it impacted on pregnancy / labour but felt like things were getting better slightly, being able to go out and see people. Now that looks like it could be in jeopardy again, I'll be so sad if the babys first Christmas is impacted Sad

Gigitree · 10/09/2020 13:01

@SRS1311 horrid isn’t it? I know big picture we just need to be happy we’re all healthy but it just feels never ending and I think sometimes I just get overwhelmed with how unfair it feels.
I can see a lot of people breaking the rules if the government try to stop families getting together for Christmas Day!

Gigitree · 10/09/2020 15:15

What does everyone do each day? What are your days like? I’ve been meeting my sister once a week, meeting some NCT ladies once a week and then on the other days either seeing family, going to the shops or just been at home.
I find I struggle with my anxiety more on the days when I’m just at home, but then at the same time physically I’m struggling to go on so many walks as the SPD I had in pregnancy has really messed my hips/back/pelvis up.

Busylizzie85 · 10/09/2020 15:42

@Gigitree I see my mum on a Monday and I try and see a friend on one of the other days of the week but other then that I just tend to try and go for a walk once a day! I struggle when I am at home alone, I find it hard to find things to entertain her and then I worry she gets bored doing the same things (I'm sure she doesn't but that's my perception) I am also struggling with a bad back/hip from the birth and additional weight I still carry so I don't walk to far.

OP posts:
Gigitree · 10/09/2020 17:26

Sounds very similar to me @Busylizzie85
I also find I run out of things to entertain my little one, she loves her bouncy chair and her jungle gym, but she does get bored of them after a little while and there’s only so many times she can play on each of them each day. Also although her reflux is loads better, she does still puke up a bit so I’m limited as to when I can actually lay her down for the jungle gym or to go in the pram so I do end up having to use the bouncer a lot!

Pegase · 10/09/2020 19:50

@Gigitree I could have written your post - our activity regime is identical. Also a reflux baby so have to time tummy time on the baby gym very carefully...

Gigitree · 11/09/2020 09:25

It’s a bit of a logistical nightmare isn’t it @Pegase? glad it’s not just us!

Gigitree · 11/09/2020 09:32

Is anyone using a bumbo or those mama’s & papas seats for their little ones yet? I think I might get one for Grace soon, because carrying her up and down the stairs in her bouncer is hurting my back so much and if she’s recently had a feed I don’t want to lay her flat whilst I take her bouncer upstairs. I was thinking this way one could stay upstairs and one downstairs.

Zoey92 · 11/09/2020 23:55

Just catching up & i see I'm not the only one going through the fist sucking.
Any tips for it? LO literally spits her dummy out giggles & sucks her fist 😂

She's perked right up since last weeks jabs & colic has settled right down thankfully.

mrssunshinexxx · 12/09/2020 03:45

@Gigitree I've got one and will be when she's got the head and back control for it I think from 4 months I advised but I'll see what she's like then
I like the idea of having her next to be on kitchen counter in it whilst I'm cooking I think (hope) she would sit happily for a little while just watching me if she's nice and fairly close

mrssunshinexxx · 12/09/2020 03:46

@Zoey92 glad she's settled down it's so nice when they are content I'm dreading second jabs
I just bought a gummee glove to help her with teething but I don't mind her sucking her fist I am trying to encourage her to suck her thumb how come you're wanting to try and stop her d

SRS1311 · 12/09/2020 07:20

Help! We are having lots of nappy leaks - anyone in the same boat? Nearly every night when I get him up to do the night feed he has wet patches on his side and back. Its waking him up and then I have to change all his bodysuit and sleepsuit which he doesnt like anyway and kicks off with!

We make sure his little bits are pointing downwards as I know that can be a problem with boys!! We use the aldi premium nappies. Anyone have any advice or recommend any better nappies?!

babbafett · 12/09/2020 07:42

I found the Pampers Pure to be very good but I only got them when they were on special offer. Pretty pricey otherwise. They could be an option for during the night?
Using aldi nappies during the day now and Pampers premium or aldi premium during the night. Mostly good with no leaks. Although I have found DS has gone through periods of leaking more no matter what the nappy and then goes back to normal for some reason.
One thing I find lately is that when he sleeps on me he almost always leaks through the top of his nappy, even if I just changed him before his nap. We both end up doing multiple outfit changes a day.

mrssunshinexxx · 12/09/2020 07:55

@SRS1311 do you pull the flaps out at the sides ?

MsMiaWallace · 12/09/2020 08:00

@SRS1311 try the normal Aldi ones.
We've had next to no leaks.
DS has a cold bought in by his older brothers return to school.
Feel really sorry for him & sleeps gone to crap at night 😢

Magpie21 · 12/09/2020 08:53

@SRS1311 we use pampers premium protection size 3. My LO has still had a leak a couple times..I think it might be the nature of the beast when they sleep longer stretches and drink more milk.

Cornishbumpkin · 12/09/2020 08:59

We've been using Lidl nappies and only has one leak when he did a 13hr stretch but he does wee a lot though

SRS1311 · 12/09/2020 09:25

@mrssunshinexxx is that one by his legs? I make sure they're out but sort of tuck them into his legs to try and stop any gaps!

Thanks all for nappy advice, I'm going to look at getting some Pampers premium for the night and also may revert back to normal Aldi ones as we didnt have a problem with these but that was when he was smaller.

@Cornishbumpkin mine seems to wee a lot too! It's frustrating that hes just started to tentatively sleep for a longer stretch at night but hes waking cause hes wet / cold ( I assume)

UKtoSK · 12/09/2020 13:00

Had some vaccinations today and have had a very sad little baby :( and I have been both vomited and poo leaked on! She has cheered up this evening though and we had a lovely little moment during her bedtime feed where she kept looking me in the eyes and smiling (and therefore unlatching lol) and oh my heart ❤️ Thankfully no temperature so far, hoping she sleeps well tonight still.

We’ve not had any nappy leaks overnight nor any wee leaks but when I sit her up against my knees and she poos then it often leaks out the sides for some reason. My favourite pyjamaa now have a yellow stain on them...

Pegase · 12/09/2020 13:50

@SRS1311 we use Aldi premium and no leaks overnight. We have a little girl though.
