We use Asda Little Angels and no leaks so far...

Does anyone else's LO have a stuffy nose particularly at night? I thought DD might have a cold a couple weeks back but her nose still seems to be bothering her. I'm beginning to wonder if it's a phase they go through or seasonal allergies perhaps? She gets a bit snotty and then looks like she's trying to scratch her nose but ends up waking herself up and getting upset. This means she's waking every 2-3 hours at night when I know were it not for her nose issues she would sleep far longer. I use the saline spray and suction to help her but not sure if there's something else I could be doing.

Busylizzie85 · 12/09/2020 21:20

@SearchingTheSkies Ivy has been stuffy recently I noticed she had a lot of snot as it were in her nose and she sneezes most days but I don't think it's being really bothering as such, not enough to wake up at night at least!

@SearchingTheSkies nothing like that for my 11 week old LO. She sneezes frequently and has the odd boggy (which I can wipe away with using the sucker). Not had a snotty nose yet.

Zoey92 · 13/09/2020 05:18

@mrssunshinexxx ah im not trying to stop it just wonder if there was anuthing to get as you mentioned the gummee glove.

@SRS1311 as everyone else has mentioned the Aldo nappies, I've never had problems.

@SearchingTheSkies yes my LO ia the same and i kept thinking she had a cold but by morning she sounds back to herself, LO also tends to sneeze alot

SRS1311 · 13/09/2020 08:10

Quick update - I used Pampers premium protection last night and finally no leaks and a better night sleep! Smile

Mj2196 · 13/09/2020 19:39

@SRS1311 aw good I was going to say we also use pampers premium protection & they’re great . We started leaking all of a sudden a few weeks back but I relalised it was because it was time to size up to size 3🙈 no issues since

My oh loves the coloured line they get when wet, says they didn’t have that when his eldest were kids 🤣

@Zoey92 also in the fist chewing club .So we have a fox chewie from chewie cats,
& the nuby icy bites you put in the freezer which he loves . We have used granules once as he was really upset with it one night

Smiffette · 14/09/2020 05:06

Has anyone else found that in the last couple of weeks the LOs are taking much longer feeds at night?

DD is 13 weeks and this last couple of weeks she is taking hour and a half long feeds in the night, usually between 3-5.

I'm finding it really difficult to stay awake and not drift off to sleep, which worries me!

SearchingTheSkies · 14/09/2020 12:18

Thanks to everyone who shared their stuffy nose experiences (or lack thereof). I'll give it another couple of weeks to see if it settles before contacting gp. I know it's not really a big deal but it's waking her up (and me!) which isn't ideal.

Hope everyone's week is off to a good start! I'm off to tour a nursery today(!!)

Smiffette · 14/09/2020 16:37

@SearchingTheSkies oooo exciting, we are touring one week after next! although not putting DD in one until she's 18 months. They get booked up super quick though and it's the best one in our village otherwise we would have to drive to the next town.

Pegase · 14/09/2020 17:28

@Smiffette we bottle feed but DD is 13 weeks today and her milk consumption has gone through the roof so maybe your LO is trying to stimulate your supply?

Busylizzie85 · 14/09/2020 17:44

@Smiffette Ivy is 13 weeks and although she's not gone that mad during the night yet, today she's fed every 1.5 hours 😳 I'm thinking growth spurt!

babbafett · 14/09/2020 21:14

@Smiffette Trying not to drift off is the hardest thing. I find DS is so cuddly and peaceful looking when I'm holding him it makes me even more sleepy. I watched Netflix or used the All4 app during the first couple weeks of night feeds. One night I got through the first season of Derry Girls just during night feeds alone.

@SearchingTheSkies have you tried the vicks vapour plug in? Its especially for babies stuffy noses at night. We have one on standby but haven't needed it yet. I cant remember how old the babies have to be to use it tho, I think its 3months. I'll have to dig ours out to check

Zoey92 · 14/09/2020 22:01

Sounds like all our LO are having a growth spurt, Amelia its bottle fed and during the night atm its literally bang on every 2/3hrs.
She was having her last feed about 11pm and going till about 5/6am

UKtoSK · 15/09/2020 01:07

@Smiffette only ten weeks here and night feeds have got longer recently but from about 5-7 minutes to 10-15 minutes, not as long as you, that must be so hard! I lie down to feed so that if I were to nod off I wouldn’t drop her at least. I either listen to podcasts through my earphones or read my kindle so that I can keep the room dark but it helps me stay awake.

Gigitree · 15/09/2020 05:24

Grace seems to be doing the opposite she’s 12 weeks and is having less formula than normal, but she seems totally happy and fine so I wonder if it will just be a low few days followed by a sudden surge.
She’s sleeping well at night so only having one feed around 3/4am so she’s dropped 2 evening/night feeds but then her volume during the day hasn’t increased to compensate. Should I be worried?

SearchingTheSkies · 15/09/2020 09:25

My DD has been feeding more recently - ages 12 weeks tomorrow and I definitely feel like she's trying to boost my supply.

@babbafett ooh thank you, I hadn't heard of that! Will give it a go :)

@Smiffette Enjoy your tour next week. I liked the nursery I saw yesterday but nothing to compare it to yet. All tours are after hours here (due to Covid) which is a bit of a shame as I'd like to have seen the staff interacting with the little ones. I've got 3 more nurseries to tour and will probably put her name down for 2 to make sure she gets a space somewhere.

babbafett · 15/09/2020 12:11

@SearchingTheSkies I just checked and its actually by calpol, lavender and camomile plug in. Suitable from 3 months. Vicks seem to do one too though.

Mj2196 · 15/09/2020 17:02

Reading these make me think ds is having a growth spurt also . He’s 14 weeks , been feeding every 1-1.5hours in the night for the last 2 weeks 😭. I put it down to the start of teething 🤷🏻‍♀️

Magpie21 · 15/09/2020 21:35

@babbafett I bought one of those plug ins on amazon late night just Incase my DD gets a cold/bunged up nose! Glad it was mentioned!

Zoey92 · 15/09/2020 21:46

Welllll little miss was finally weighed today from the health visitor for her 12wk check....13lb10oz little chunk.
First time she's been weighed since she was 10days old where she was a tiny 7lb1oz, i felt a bit emotional 😂😂

Cornishbumpkin · 16/09/2020 07:55

Wow @Zoey92 that's a good weight gain! My LO was weighed yesterday at 11 weeks and is 16lb 3oz having been born at 10lb 3oz! He's dropped from the 99th to 98th centimetres so having another weigh in a month. He's a really sicky baby so have been advised to give up dairy in case of a CMPA, anyone else done this and have any tips?

Zoey92 · 16/09/2020 08:50

@Cornishbumpkin i knoww! She then tried to say it was too much weight gain, untill i reminded her she had not been weighed since she was 10days old which was followed by her saying she "forgot" i haven't really gelled well with my HV if im honest

Busylizzie85 · 16/09/2020 09:07

I'm jealous @Zoey92 @Cornishbumpkin that you have had a second weigh in! I have not heard from my health visitor in weeks and Ivys not been weighed since she was about 10 days old, she's now nearly 14 weeks. I tried on my scales at home but I have had two different weights recently which aren't any where near each other 😐

OP posts:
UKtoSK · 16/09/2020 10:31

@Cornishbumpkin wow you gave birth to a 10lb 3oz baby?? My little girl just weighed in at 4.8kg this weekend at 10 weeks, I think that’s 10 and a half pounds. I can’t imagine carrying that around in my belly! She’s also a really sicky baby but my doctor didn’t seem concerned by it as she’s gaining consistently and doesn’t appear to be in pain before or after vomiting. It’s just a pain for me with the laundry and cleaning her up after.

Cornishbumpkin · 16/09/2020 10:54

@Zoey92 @Busylizzie85 I must say I've been really lucky with all our care through pregnancy and since he's been born and my HV is pretty good.

@UKtoSK he was 15 days late and he certainly felt heavy in the two overdue weeks lol, felt quite glad he came by emergency c-section when they told me his weight 😂 he's already growing out of 3-6 month clothes too
