@SRS1311 can you prop something up behind him?

mrssunshinexxx · 24/10/2020 08:54

@UKtoSK personally I would leave her to it at this age they can roll and move a lot
My LO slept on her side from TINY for daytime naps it's where she was happiest (no judgment) she's on her back at night in a nest but I position her slightly to the side she hates being flat on her back too x

Pegase · 24/10/2020 08:59

Just catching up on the weaning discussion. We had to start solids with DD1 at 5 months under the direction of the paediatrician due to her feeding issues but she had all the signs of readiness at 5 months anyway.

So- can sit up unaided, lost gag reflex, can put food in her own mouth and is interested in food. We will start with DD2 when she has all those signs. No evidence of any yet and she is four months.

UKtoSK · 24/10/2020 12:45

@SRS1311 yes Jia will cry when she rolls onto her back and then stops once she’s back on her side as well. She always slept on her back in the swaddle so I don’t think she’s in pain, just missing the comfort of something wrapped around her I guess. Glad she’s not the only one anyway!
@mrssunshinexxx yeah there’s nothing I can do to stop her rolling onto her side anyway, so long as she’s happy and sleeping well eh.

Zoey92 · 24/10/2020 19:39

Well I'm just sat here wondering how on earth I've a 4month old already! Where has the time gone! Doing ok as far as sleeping goes atm, goes down about 6pm after her bath, changed and bottle 10:30 & goes till about 5/6am.....for now. All could change we know that 😂 naps are usually 8.30/9am,12pm & 3:30, they're only cat naps at the most 45mins.

@mrssunshinexxx we were thinking of that but in the last week or two he has started moving from side to side, he likes to flip sides and face the other way now!

@zoey92 aww shes lovely! I cant believe how quick the time has gone. Those first few weeks crawled by and felt like a living hell, but now they're flying by!

Zoey92 · 24/10/2020 21:59

@SRS1311 thank you! Shes such a happy smiling baby bless her.
I know i feel like i cant remember my pregnancy!

I take my hat off to all the breastfeeding mams out there, reading all your posts, but yous are all doing amazing!

UKtoSK · 26/10/2020 09:31

@Zoey92 she’s so cute! Very jealous of your good sleeper, can she have a word with Jia.

I know this has been a weird year and it’s not getting back to normal anytime soon but is anyone else really looking forward to Christmas? I love Christmas so much but it’s just not the same in Korea and I am excited to finally have a child of my own to share the magic with and hopefully give as much joy as I had growing up every Christmas. I know she won’t really understand it for a few years but I’m still excited for her first Christmas.

Busylizzie85 · 26/10/2020 18:16

She's gorgeous @Zoey92 where is her little jacket from I love things with ears?
Ivy is still waking at least 3/4 times a night not sure it's ever going to end 😴

SRS1311 · 26/10/2020 18:30

@UKtoSK I love Christmas too and I cant wait for this year, even though it will probably be very different. We will make it as special as possible and I'm looking forward to starting little traditions. It does make me sad that inevitably Covid will affect it. I doubt my parents will be able to visit and we wont be able to do things like going to see Santa. Sad

Zoey92 · 26/10/2020 20:17

@UKtoSK thank you, i just take it each night at a time i know it can change so quickly, we've had two 5am wake ups, obviously because of the hours change.

@busylizzie85 Amelia wakes about 3/4am for a bottle, but the hoirs change has had her right grumpy tonight by 5:30 which to her obviously felt like 6:30 which is usually bath bottle bed.
Aw thank you it's just from George, they've some lovely stuff in

Magpie21 · 26/10/2020 21:37

@Zoey92 awww your LO is so pretty!

@UKtoSK Yes, I'm looking forward to Christmas! I'm already keeping my eye out for a pretty red dress for her and also I can't wait to see her wonderment at the tree lights. I just know she will love it!

@Busylizzie85 I think we are at the start of the sleep regression as we have had a coupe of 3am parties. Hope you are nearing the end of it. Sleep affects everything doesn't it! My husband and I are spoilt with our LO so I know when she starts waking up 3/4 times a night it's going to hit us hard.

Magpie21 · 27/10/2020 07:27

LO has started rolling over (at every opportunity!). Has anyone come across any good playmats? I'm tempted by a Totter and tumble but it's quite expensive.

Mj2196 · 27/10/2020 08:53

@Busylizzie85 Handhold! we’re still up 5+ times a night , He’s been this way since 12 weeks . i fear even when sleep regression ends im just going to have an Poor sleeper. I can barely function 🥱🥱

Smiffette · 27/10/2020 10:47

Another LO here how us up 5/6 times a night... been this way for 4-5 weeks now. Praying it's sleep regression and will come to an end soon!

Pegase · 27/10/2020 11:33

@Magpie21 we got the totter and tumble samples but didn't like any of the patterns enough to pay that much. They feel like school gym mats. Went for foam squares from The Modern Nursery. Not quite as classy but they make them in neutral decor colours at least so no garish red yellow blue.

Magpie21 · 27/10/2020 12:17

@Pegase thanks for the rec, I like these. Do you find these styles sit in place? I have floor tiles currently so worried about them slipping around.

Pegase · 27/10/2020 13:09

@Magpie21 yes we have a wooden floor and, counterintuitively, you put the smooth side down and the dimpled side up and it doesn't slide

Busylizzie85 · 27/10/2020 17:51

Thanks for the hand hold @Mj2196 it's so exhausting but 🤞🏼 we all get more sleep soon.

@Zoey92 I'll have a look at Asda I do like there clothing! I managed to get a few bits in the Sainsbury’s 25% off event including one cut pink thick coat which will help with the colder weather 😊

hey mummies, just wanted to share this great book i just got. All about healthy eating after a baby, with info on vitamins, weaning, cows milk allergy - loads of really useful information. had no idea needed more calcium and iodine while breastfeeding too.

mrssunshinexxx · 28/10/2020 20:30

Gentle sleep training starting here tomorrow I can't cope any longer with a husband who works away and no mum anymore for support I need to try and make life easier
Teaching her to self settle will be a very important skill

Magpie21 · 28/10/2020 21:44

@mrssunshinexxx good luck xx have you read any sleep training books? There's a lot of helpful accounts on Instagram. Is your LO waking for feeds?

Smiffette · 29/10/2020 05:55

@mrssunshinexxx good luck!
Are you going To try a specific sleep training in h program?

mrssunshinexxx · 29/10/2020 07:40

@Smiffette @Magpie21 little ones sleep program I'm finding it very interesting my routine needs a major change from what they advise but I have started this morning by waking her which I have never done before but I'm going to follow it to the letter and hopefully get results
Teaching her to self settle is such an important skill and will give us both better quality sleep.
It basically says if they get hit by sleep regression badly then they won't get over the regression until they learn to self settle so I don't really have a choice as the regression has hit us like a tonne of bricks and she was such a good sleeper before
She wakes for milk some feeds longer than others i will of course continue to feed her in the night no matter how many times she wakes but it's all about the day time naps not being on me or in the sling to and getting them in her bed

SRS1311 · 29/10/2020 07:53

@mrssunshinexxx good luck, let us know how you get on. We stumbled into it, and have been doing it (of sorts) for a few weeks. If you have any questions let me know!

Someone from my husbands work paid for a professional service at 16 weeks and let us look at their plan. It's mainly just letting them cry it out and being firm about it, I can definitely see how some people wouldnt want to do it as it can be tough. However overall I think it's worth it, last night he slept from 7.15 pm till 7am and no feeds!
