@Mj2196 aww yes DD is BF... I love
Feeding her but it is nice to have a little
Break and let DH have a part in feeding.

Zoey92 · 18/10/2020 22:56

@smiffette just catching up, i think i will start LO in the next 3/4weeks maybes.
She will be exactly 4month on 24th & will more than likely do the same as yourself.

It was a year last sunday since i also found out i was pregnant, i kept repeating it to my OH " can you believe its a year...a year you know" 😂 i honestly do not know where it's gone.

mrssunshinexxx · 19/10/2020 03:17

@UKtoSK makes you so nostalgic doesn't it 💕 I have no idea where the time has gone it's been the worst and best year of my life very strange emotions

@Smiffette I'm waiting til nearer 6months even though she is showing interest in food there's a lot of studies that show weaning at 4m can cause allergies and stomach issues such as coeliac disease but I know there's a lot conflicting advise out there so we all just do what we thinks best it's great your lo seems to be enjoying it

My health visitor was quite strict on the phone about not doing it before 6m I said I may do it a little earlier if I feel it's right and I just wanted her to answer a few questions
We are going to do BLW and for anyone else thinking of doing the same there is something in their throats linked to gag reflex that isn't developed until 6m x

Magpiefeather · 19/10/2020 07:52

Yes we’ll be waiting until 6 months or very close to it for weaning. I feel like we’ve only just got the hang of breastfeeding! My LO is 15 weeks and only just able to reliably grab something and bring it to his mouth. Can’t sit independently get (can sit when supported though). So not ready yet.

Yes like @mrssunshinexxx I’ve read lots of things about the gag reflex and gut maturity being part of the reason for the 6month guideline. Although I know paediatricians sometimes recommend early weaning (I have a friend whose little girl just would not drink enough milk in any form and was tiny weeny. She gave solids at 4 months on doctors advice).

Also not looking forward to the mess! I recommend a shower curtain under the high chair . Especially if baby led weaning - a lot will go on the floor!

Blizy · 19/10/2020 09:28

I'm waiting until 6 months and doing BLW, Rose is no where near ready food just now. With fort my ds I started weaning at 20 weeks on paediatrician advice (his reflux was horrendous)

mrssunshinexxx · 19/10/2020 10:38

@Magpiefeather my little girl can't sit up unlessaided either! She's started to enjoy short spells in bumbo and jumperoo

Oh yes the mess luckily I have a greedy cat!

Quick random question! When you refer to your babies as being 4 months in age do you go by weeks (as in they're 16 weeks old) or date...so mine was born 6th July and would be 4 months on 6th November? I never know which one is right! But theres a good couple of weeks discrepancy between the two...

Busylizzie85 · 19/10/2020 18:37

Yeah @SRS1311 it confuses me as well as Ivy is 18 weeks but is only 4 months 6 days old 🤷🏻‍♀️ I go by the weeks mainly but not sure if that's right.

OP posts:
Smiffette · 19/10/2020 18:52

@SRS1311 I go by calendar months from the date she was born as a calendar month doesn't always have 4 weeks.

So LO will be 5 months on 13th November

Magpiefeather · 20/10/2020 06:38

Yes your way makes sense to me @Smiffette , since we will count baby as being 1 year old after 12 calendar months! If we go by every 4 weeks, we’ll get past 12 months before baby is officially 1!

If people ask how old mine is I say 3.5 months (born 6th July).

SRS1311 · 20/10/2020 17:52

Yep that's what I thought - calendar months make sense. But I was reading a baby weaning book and it referred to 4 months and in brackets 16 weeks...bit confusing! I was wondering if I was missing something lol

Mj2196 · 20/10/2020 18:55

Anyone else feeling a tad fed up ? I live in Manchester and the news is just getting more depressing by the day . At first i was so glad to spend time with just baby but feel like Ive hit a brick wall tbh. Dd tells anyone who will listen she is 4 on Saturday but can’t have a party or any friends cause of the germs. So sad . Or Maybe it’s the lack of sleep making me emotional 😅🤷🏻‍♀️

SRS1311 · 20/10/2020 20:11

@Mj2196 yeah totally get what you're saying...I live in Liverpool and we are under the tier 3 restrictions. When this all started it was just a case of getting on with it, but now several months down the line I feel so fed up. Cant go anywhere or see anyone, it all feels so lonely. My mum and dad dont live nearby and havent seen the baby in a month or two. My sister gave birth 4 weeks ago and they are yet to meet her! The worst thing is that theres no end to all this in sight, I think we will be under restrictions till probably March time Sad

Mj2196 · 21/10/2020 09:31

@SRS1311 I’m so glad I’m not the only one . Tier 3 just feels like the cherry on top doesn’t it . Thats awful, I feel lucky we’re all healthy and at least dps parents have met baby a few times. They live round the corner though so window waving is a regular thing . I thought having a baby was lonely the first time round, nothing compared to this time . I used to find swimming and baby groups a bit of a bore I dream for them now 😕

Busylizzie85 · 21/10/2020 16:19

Has anyone else's hair started to really thin out from all the falling out? I expected hair loss but this seems to be on a different level now, my partner kindly pointed out that I have some very thin patches at the front around my face 🙁 probably made more obvious by the fact I have to wear my hair up otherwise little miss likes to pull it a lot 🤦🏻‍♀️

OP posts:
Missgemini · 21/10/2020 16:49

I've lost a fair bit of hair at the front. Able to hide it in how I style my hair though. Hopefully this is temporary.
And I also have a little mister that yanks my hair, which doesn't help matters

Cornishbumpkin · 21/10/2020 18:48

Just caught up from the last few days. Little man had his 16 week jabs yesterday and has been soo cranky today and had a 3 hour nap this morning!!! He's a 30 min max kinda napper usually!! It was a year ago today we found out we were expecting too. What a year it has been. If anyone had told us back then what was guna happen I wouldn't have believed them!!

Gigitree · 21/10/2020 19:25

Yeah I’m losing so much hair all the time @Busylizzie85 it’s horrible and I wear it up a lot too as my LO likes to yank it, but I do have some thin patches round the front but also annoying short frizzy patches where it’s regrowing too 🙄

Awww the jabs are so horrible aren’t they @Cornishbumpkin so glad they’re done with for a long while now!

Anyone whose bottle feeding do you know when you’re supposed to move them up a teat size? Grace has been on the size 2 teat for ages now, I know that size 3 is for 4 months+ but what are the signs that baby is ready for the next size up, does anyone know?

UKtoSK · 22/10/2020 05:52

Those using sleep bags - what tog is it, what temp is your room, and what do you dress baby in inside the sleep bag? I’ve been looking at the ones on Next and they’re all 2.5 tog and recommend combining with short or long sleeved body suits, but I’ve just bought some sleep suits for night time so wondering if she’d be too hot in them with the 2.5 tog sleep bag. She seems to run hot, she always has a sweaty back. Our room is currently always between 22-24 degrees but the nights are starting to get colder now.

Busylizzie85 · 22/10/2020 06:07

Not sure if this will help @UKtoSK but it's what I use. Our room is always quite warm so have not used the 2.5 tog a lot, we mostly use a 1 or 1.5 tog for 20 degrees plus with a long sleeved vest. 😊

Mj2196 · 23/10/2020 06:27

@UKtoSK we have a 1 tog but he wears a short sleeved vest and a sleep suite under now. His hands were always cold the past week or so now I take the thermostat in and have my heating set to come on if it drops below 16 degrees

On another note WHEN do the hourly wake ups end 😭🥱

Smiffette · 23/10/2020 06:46

@Mj2196 oh I know!! I thought I had escaped the hourly wake ups as night before last she only woke 3 times... than last night back to the hourly!!
It really worries me as I was so tired last night I was feeding her on my right side with her feet on my left, I must have fallen asleep as I woke an hour later with her head over on my left side and her kind of sat on the bed 😳I still had my arm round her under hers so I don't think she would have fallen onto the bed but it so hard trying to stay awake!

Mj2196 · 23/10/2020 07:33

@Smiffette we had a couple of nights of only 2 wake ups a bit back . Talk about false hope! . He finally seems to be in a deep sleep now I have to wake him for the nursery run 🙃.
Oh no !That moment you realise is so frightening isn’t it .ive fallen asleep feeding this week and dp stayed awake watching us cause he was so worried . I was mortified . Just have to remember It won’t last forever, even if it feels like it Lol

UKtoSK · 24/10/2020 06:15

I’m sorry for everyone suffering with hourly wake ups but I’m also glad that others are having the same sleep regression issues because my husband’s coworkers/friends all told him that after 100 days babies start to sleep really well, whereas for us she was sleeping well until 100 days and then the regression hit and it’s been awful since and it feels like it’s my fault for doing everything wrong because all these people he knows supposedly had babies sleeping so well. I know it’s made worse by removing the swaddle this week, I’m hoping once she gets used to sleeping without it things will improve again... hoping... speaking of, is anyone else’s baby a side sleeper? Since removing the swaddle she only seems able to fall asleep on her side with her arm over her face! Very cute but worries me since safe sleep guidelines say to always put them on their backs. But she just won’t stay on her back! And she has to have her feet on the bars of the crib.

SRS1311 · 24/10/2020 08:29

@UKtoSK ours is a side a sleeper and has been since a few weeks old! I think it started with the reflux, he just hated being on his back probably because he was in pain. But now he is just used to being on his side, if he rolls onto his back he will cry and scream! I really worry about the side sleeping but theres just no other way he will sleep.
