I have the maclaren triumph Very lightwieght and easy to use

Cd - Grass Roots

busywithIzzy · 06/10/2007 16:53

Thanks Pesha, no formula here and not really planning any. Do Bf babies still not need water even once they are being weaned?

As I said not sure she has got the hang of eating yet...am doing a mixture of BLW and Puree. Puree feeding is hard work, as she doesn't really open her mouth, she tries to suck off the spoon as she does the nipple. When feeding herself, she drops a lot, but I think she is swallowing some?!

How are things going with D? Did you have him weighed again? When do you get the results of the blood tests? Have you heard from the dietition(sp) yet? Sorry loads of questions.

VamPesha · 06/10/2007 17:02

Well we have commenced with BLW now. Just this week D had started to seem totally unsatisfied by his normal evening cluster feed and I was beginning to think the time might have actually come to start giving him ff top ups but then also found myself thinking more and more about weaning and it just felt right time to start so we have and he loves it! Tried him with some broccoli and cauli yesterday which he liked but think he was actually abit too hungry as got frustrated so gave him bf and half way through I started to eat a banana and he turned round and grabbed it and pulled it into his mouth He ate nearly the whole thing!! Had steamed parsnip for tea and has had another banana today! All I need now is for my highchair to turn up to make it abit easier, atm if he drops it he's lost it so needs me to hold it but hopefully once highchair is here (should be monday) he'll be able to control it himself abit more.

Nappies however are not so much fun

VamPesha · 06/10/2007 17:06

Hi bwi, no not had him weighed yet, if orgot monday but will go next week. Paed appt is friday so hopefully get results then. Not heard anything from dietician yet, was hoping to hold ouyt to hear from him before weaning but really feel, almost instinctively I think, that D is ready now. I've gone so earth mothery with D I dont know whats happened to me?!?

Will find link here i read about water not being needed for weaning bf babies.

VamPesha · 06/10/2007 17:09

Oh and D is also completely hopeless at taking anything off a spoon, any calpol or anything comes straight back out again, its a nightmare. But yet somehow almost 2 whole bananas and nearly 1 whole (small!) parsnip have disappeared inside him!!

VamPesha · 06/10/2007 17:14

"The fat content of breastmilk increases during a feed. A breastfed baby recognises this change and uses it to control his fluid intake. If he wants a drink, he will tend to feed for a short time, perhaps from both breasts, whereas if he is hungry he will feed for longer. This is why breastfed babies who are allowed to feed whenever they want for as long as they want do not need any other drinks, even in hot weather.

This principle can work throughout the weaning period if the baby continues to be allowed to breastfeed ?on demand?. A cup of water can be offered with meals as part of the opportunity for exploration but there is no need to be concerned if he doesn?t want to drink any."

From I want my mum also look at the next page which has a web chat with Gill Rapley

PillockInThePumpkin · 06/10/2007 17:37

ange, Joe went from 91st down to 75th when I started weaning him so they are talking shite and should be ignored, just because she was small to start with doesn't make her dropping a line anymore worrying than Joe doing it, and my very lovely HV said he was fine to do that and it was expected

Just a quickie.

Unfortunately the news today is not so good. Eva is having seizures and has been taken back to NICU. Doctors still don't know what is causing them and have said that unless they can get them under control things don't look good.

DH's whole family are in bits. I feel numb and nauseous. It's such an awful thing.

Keep her in your thoughts please x

Pinions
You can't beat the McLaren. We have the Techno. Had it for ds and now use for dd. All you need is in one stroller. Footmuff (use to keep warm and dry, but also to keep cool. You can wash all of it and it's weatheproof. It handles well, and is good despite being folded up hundreds of times. It takes no space at all in the car. It can be used from birth too, in case you have more babies.

We had a lovely fancy Bebe Confort, but it just doesn't stand up to the wear and tear like the McCLaren does

AuntieMeemz · 06/10/2007 20:28

Oh hey, have mad a nappy decision! I'm having (Bamboo?) all in ones, and Moltex disposables for out and about.

AuntieMeemz · 06/10/2007 20:29

Thoughts & prayers for Eva Rose, Leaky - please keep us informed as and when you can. xxxx

Ignore, Ignore, Ignore Ange - Like you said, she is happy & content, she is sleeping well, lots of wet & dirty nappies - You've answered your own dilemma there honey - She is fine and developing completely normally imho - Health professionals have their "script" from which to read and any deviation from that is basically criminal in a lot of their eyes - You're not excatly Mrs LardyPantsGiantoftheYear2007 yourself so theyre is no reason on earth why Izzy would be big - She is small, simple as - Just smile & nod politely with the HV / GP / whoever talks to you and then just stick two fingers up at them once they have gone and continue as you are - You are doing a great job and Izzy is telling you so by being such a contented wee soul - DON'T PANIC!!

Yey to great BLW, Pesha and thank you for GrassRoots link - have emailed them!

GREAT Party today - had a fab time!

mammyjo · 06/10/2007 20:46

Leaky, thoughts are with Eva and her family tonight. Hoping that they can find out what is causing the fits and do something to stop it. Love to you all xxxx

mammyjo · 06/10/2007 20:48

I told dh to fuck off today and I walked out of the house. He is a total prick and I am so fed up of being used as a general dogsbody for everyone. I look after everyone else, but no one gives a thought for me. Fucking bastard, I am sick of him. He is sat in the lounge now watching the rugby and ignoring me - wanker.
