Screaminglips · 18/10/2007 20:12

happi birthday to Kathh's DD2 - 11 already!!

i remember when i turned 11.

maisiemog · 18/10/2007 23:01

Happy birthday to Shinead, I hope she enjoyed her day at the aquarium and wore her outfit all day as well.
Happy birthday to all.
I've got a sore finger, from having my hands constantly in water, so now I'm taking anti-biotics, and it's very hard to type.
Alfie wandered into the kitchen today and said 'I want something very tasty to eat'
I was like
'Oh do you?' laughing - he knew we had biscuits.

KathH · 19/10/2007 11:19

Jbadgirl - think about you a lot but especially today. Moley & me are going to the park later with 2 balloons, 1 for moley & 1 for Toby.

Happy birthday smiler

maisiemog · 19/10/2007 22:30

Toby. Happy birthday beautiful boy!

Screaminglips · 19/10/2007 22:31

Happy birthday Toby xxxxx

cazzybabs · 20/10/2007 20:05

I hope yesterday wasn't too painful Jbadgir. Grace and I released a balloon at about 4.30 and said a little prayer.

maisiemog · 20/10/2007 22:21

Hi Jbad. I hope today is OK and you are coping.

maisiemog · 20/10/2007 22:35

Cazzy, how are you? Are you still at work?
I was talking to my mum today about a friend of hers who teaches maths. She has two girls and twin boys and eventually ended up working part-time at a public school because her school - coincidentally my old high school - didn't offer her part-time work. Have you got any plans yet about work, or is it all too far away?
Biglips, how are you getting on with your mum now?
I've just seen a re-run of the best and worst places to live 2007, haven't heard of many of those places, but Edinburgh won. Yay! Quite right too. I was so hoping it wouldn't be yet another small town in Surrey. Yawn!

KathH · 21/10/2007 12:01

Hi all - we're freezing, our heating has packed up & as we're going away tomorrow they're not coming to fix it until a week a Tuesday! We're going to Durham which is where my mum comes from to see all my family. We've rented a cottage on a farm & moley is really excited at seeing all the animals. DD1 is not impressed - she's staying with my aunty as my cousin is only a year older than her.

geogteach · 21/10/2007 19:38

Maisie what is wrong with small towns in Surrey
we are going to Poland tomorrow, geog has been quite excited about going on a plnae and train but now he has started asking to go on a boat and a helicopter, some people are never happy!

maisiemog · 21/10/2007 20:24

Brrr! Kath. Good job you are going away. What is wrong with the cousin being practically the same age - is it not cool?
Geog, I'm sure you can arrange for the journey to be partially by boat, with a helicopter leaving from a helipad on the boat and a parachute into Poland. Then a motorbike journey into town.
Why are you going to Poland?

KathH · 21/10/2007 20:42

Masie - it was the thought of staying on a farm she wasnt happy with - she looked at me and said "but it'll stink"

maisiemog · 21/10/2007 22:08

Aaah city kids! Does she like animals?
Mind you there may be a smell.

Screaminglips · 22/10/2007 21:35

ive stayed on a farm once years ago and it was fab! ...in Newcastle....but we got ripped off in the taxi fare as it took us all round the world to Whitley Bay..

2nite..Tweenie asked if she could "have a talk to Father Christmas!" ..so i asked her if she would like to meet Father Christmas this year (as she last saw one when she was a baby) she said "Yes, please.....and i want to talk to him!!" ..... hilarious!!!

Screaminglips · 22/10/2007 21:37

oh and she was so disappointed that she wasnt in school today! ....half term

maisiemog · 23/10/2007 00:06

I haven't told Alfie the Father Christmas thing yet. All the lies. I don't know.
Our neighbour's grand daughter has been off school for the past week and she loves Alfie. She is 11, and quite annoyingly has been sitting with those blooming toy catalogues that every shop seems to have displayed. She has been telling him to ask us for things in the catalogues for his birthday. Today they had been cutting out the most expensive, gigantic toys conceivable and putting them on the table. I was then informed that these were what Alfie wanted for his birthday. So I asked her to add up cost of the toys, and it came to around £700.
So this must be what it is like to have a little kid and big kid in the same house.
I told her that as she had chosen the toys, that we now expected her to pay for them and did she have a paper round. I thought she might be able to get a bank loan with her nana as guarantor.

Screaminglips · 27/10/2007 23:54

hi everyone...hope youre all ok?

Tweenie said today that she cant wait to go back to school on Monday!

i am hoping to walk her to school on Monday...taking her Dolly in her Pram. She walks faster with it!!

KathH · 28/10/2007 09:13

Hi everyone. We had a lovely time at the farm - moley really enjoyed it. We also saw a lot of my relatives (they all live in Durham, I dont mean that all my relatives are farm animals ) so moley was well & truly spoilt. We took the kids to our friends halloween party last night. We went at 6 for a couple of hours and got back at midnight. When we got in we got told off by dd1 as she didnt want to go & she was waiting to go to bed. Now I feel really old !

maisiemog · 29/10/2007 00:03

Hi Kath, I'm glad you had a good time. How is Moley, is he still a Poky little boy ? Is he sleeping better now?
I hope you and your DH are getting on better.
I can't stand this new Mumsnet layout, it's driving me up the wall. Have you looked at a thread where there are multiple pages, it's sooo confusing!!!
Alfie just talk, talk, talks all day now, all day! And he is having a few problems with volume control. Shout shout shout!!
We went to the park the other day and he was shouting at this little boy on the slide 'Come on boy! You can do it! Hold on tight boy!' and other encouraging phrases. I kind of explained that the boy was smaller than Alfie and was going slowly. It's like everyone can hear him in the park, wherever they are, even over the other side. I find a it a bit embarrassing, even though I know he can't help it.
I hope he turns it down soon.

cazzybabs · 29/10/2007 20:09

I have gone back to the old layout...I was ending up well confused about who was posting when....hey ho!

Grace has her assessment morning at a new nurseyr - god I hope she gets in and I am not setting her up for a lifetime of failing at the age of 3!

Our house is in a state of choas....dust everywhere. The plumbers have mostly finished, the electrian and builders are half-way through....the kitchen is being fitted in Jan and in between a new baby shall arrive = panic!!!!

jbadgirl · 29/10/2007 21:44

Hello all and HAPPY BIRTHDAY to all little ones x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x
Just thought I would say hi and that we are doing ok. Went back to work last week only doing half days at the moment to settle back in. My nursery is still standing!! and the girls have been taking care of things for me which is great.
Been seeing a councillor from snowdrop trust who is helping me find myself again and he is helping lots. Dh is going to see him on friday too. We are seeing Tobys doc on tuesday next week to go through the post mortem results, which will be interesting.
We are setting standards high and me and dh along with snowdrop are going to do the london to brighton next year! what are we letting ourselves in for. Going to get t-shirts printed in memory of toby and wear them for everything we do for charity.

I do still come on and read your posts but just dont post very often myself.

My lime tree is doing ok, lots of leaves fell off so im going to use them for something. Any ideas anyone???

maisiemog · 30/10/2007 00:30

Haha! Jbad. That sounds like my plants - leaves falling off! I'm glad you are getting lots of support and attention, you deserve it.
Now there are lots of recipes for kaffir lime leaves, hmmm! I'm not sure, but lots of Thai and Malaysian cooking feature lime leaves. And I never have any so I either don't bother or I just put in a bit of lime juice. So you can send me some leaves and I'll make a proper authentic thai dish.
I didn't realise you could change the format - must do that. I can't stand all this pages rubbish.
Is it nice to be back at work Jbad?

jbadgirl · 30/10/2007 16:39

Yes it is ok being back at work, coping well doing part time for now. Had a wobble today though as someone found a top of Tobys and left it near our tumble dryer. I found it and everything came flooding back. Managed to hold it together sort of. Tear in my eye etc. I know what should be there and can cope with that but when something pops up and your not expecting it, it catches you off guard.

Will email you some lime leaves!!!

maisiemog · 30/10/2007 21:54

Aaah Jbad! Big hugs!! You are so brave and you are helping so many other children with your walking.
I have made a virtual Thai Curry. Here you go, this is yours. Ooo sorry I made it a bit too hot. Here's a virtual glass of water.'
I remember when my great gran died, I was eight, and a couple of months afterwards, my nan - her daughter - found some knitting that my great gran had started, just lying in a cupboard. She broke down. All the little things that are left are sad, but then again it is better to be reminded than forget. I hope you find the pain easier to deal with as time goes by.

maisiemog · 01/11/2007 23:20

So it was Alfie's birthday yesterday - he is now joining the 'three club'. He finally 'got it' this morning when eating his cereal surrounded by his birthday cards - kept telling me that he was three.
I totally forgot to record Cbeebies and I had sent in a card. Doh!
Might do a thing on one of the topics to see if anyone else has recorded it.
What happened to Isla - she was a Halloween baby as well?
