My darling boy's birthday today

We gave him a Fisher Price Little People garage as his main present, which he loves, as well as loads of Bob the Builder trucks and Thomas the tank engine bits.

He's currently having a nap, then we're having a little birthday tea later.

A good day SM x

I wonder if they go through a phase at this age where they need to sleep more again. Ds1 seems more tired recently and could explain his behaviour atm. He was such an easy placid 2 year old, i don't know what's hit me. 99% of the time he's as lovely as ever, but the tantrums for something as simple as trying to buy a pair of shoes are incredible. I even came on mn one day half expecting to see a thread about 'the child tantruming in clarke's today' except it was mainly full of older ladies giving me cats bum faces.

And as for ds2, he's more of a handful than ds1 ever was (big bro leading him astray) but gets away with murder because of his gorgeous cheeky grin.

lol at the boys going too quiet for your liking. I know that feeling

Yokefleet · 24/06/2009 07:56

dlamis, ds2 sounds just the same then, he is just into everything and climbing much more then ds1 ever did. I just can't get over how quick he is either he can climb all the way up our stairs, Thomas was never bothered about the stair at all. I think that they maybe are needing more sleep now but Thomas just doesn't give in anymore, I try to get anything that needs doing that day (like shoe shopping or food shopping) done as soon as I pick him up from school now as if I leave it til after lunch he is murder around the shops, yet if we are at home and he is playing or at a friends playing he will be sweetness and light!
Well I should go and get ready, I have slimming & exercise class weigh in this morning and have done 3 classes already this week and my legs are killing me!! ouch ouch ouch well they do say no pain no gain I guess and I have so far lost 4 stone so mustn't grumble!

mawbroon · 14/07/2009 22:49

I'm pregnant.

Dlamis · 15/07/2009 19:57

Hurrah. I wondered when you were going to pop over here

Congratulations

Yokefleet · 15/07/2009 20:17

MB wishing you a trouble free pregnancy, that is great news.

ponto · 15/07/2009 21:26

WOOOOHOOOO MB, that is fantastic news! I was thinking of you today as I was BFing dd3 (she will be 1 next week) and wondering how things were with you and Johnnie and the BFing. How far along are you?

Yokefleet, I'm v impressed by your weight loss, I still have almost 2 stone to go before I'm back where I was before Alice, I think it might take me a year to lose it at the rate I'm going. How quickly have you lost your weight?

Anyone else have a child with an appetite like a bottomless pit? Alice is constantly hungry, she asks for snacks every hour or so but is not at all fat.

Tantrums here are mainly saved for when Daddy is trying to put her to bed, but she's usually fine for me unless very tired indeed.

Looking forward to the school holidays next week, then in September Alice will be going to afternoon nursery every day - I am hoping to train dd3 to have her nap 1-3pm and so get some time to myself - bliss!

Yokefleet · 16/07/2009 14:04

Ponto, I started with the diet 21months ago and conceived ds2 that same month, lost weight in pregnancy through to exercise and morning sicknes and have lost 2st since Daniels arrival. (still have about 3st to lose)

Thomas is always hungry too!

Thomas is not being very nice to DH at the moment, he completely ignores him which is really hard for DH at the min, only wants mummy to do whatever he is being asked

DS2 naps from 9-11am which just happens to be the time I get home from taking Thomas to school and the time we need to go and pick him up....BLISS!! good luck Ponto x

Hello All! Haven't been on here for ages (used to be stinkymalinki, Joey's mum) - lots of life changes over the last 18 months....

Joey has come on well, but was diagnosed with a speech delay so we've gone through the Hanen Speech and Language programme with reasonable success. He currently goes to Nursery 3 mornings a week, and absolutely loves it. Also, after a long start, he has been fully toilet-trained for a while now. Unfortunately me and his Dad separated last year, so i was a single parent for a while, then got together with a lovely man and much to our shock (and delight!), found out i was expecting just before Christmas! Baby girl due in 2 weeks, and Joey is very excited to be having a sister.

Congratulations to Mawbroon on your news, and to everyone who has gone on to have more DC since our original thread all that time ago

Yokefleet · 18/07/2009 07:42

aw congrats DPA, glad that things have worked out for you hun. How are you feeling hun? I found the last couple of weeks to be the worst! Lovely to hear from you again hun and it sounds like Joey is really coming on x

Dlamis · 18/07/2009 11:42

Congratulations DPA

definitelypregnantagain · 18/07/2009 20:50

Struggling a bit in this heat, and Joey is the Duracell Bunny from the point he gets up which is very tiring, but only another fortnight to go It's quite frightening how quickly this pregnancy has gone in comparison to last time!

ponto · 18/07/2009 22:39

Nice to hear from you DPA, I always wonder what happened to all of the mums who were in our original group. Congratulations on your pregnancy, good luck with the final stretch. Let us know when the big day comes!

Dlamis · 19/07/2009 09:06

It's not just the pregnancy that goes quickly 2nd time round. Blink and before you know it your dc2 will be nearly 18 months old!!!!

Hope it all goes well

Yokefleet · 19/07/2009 13:43

I agree DLAMIS, Daniel is 1 next month... how did that happen!

mawbroon · 21/07/2009 14:13

Hey, nice to see you stinky! I hope the last few days are stress free for you before the birth (if you haven't already had the baby of course!!)

I had my reassurance scan today. I am 8+2 and they said 8+4 so I won't argue, even though I know that I didn't conceive before I ovulated!!! There is only one baby (Johnny reckoned four!!) and we saw the heartbeat.

I am nowhere near as nauseous as I was with Johnny and just feel a bit tired and grumpy tbh.

Is anyone else's 3.9yo having tantrums? Johnny was really never much of a tantrummer, but he seems to be having more of them recently. It has been in the last couple of weeks when we have been here there and everwhere visiting people, so perhaps more to do with being a bit unsettled. He won't take anything much to do with daddy at the moment which is annoying.

Since we night weaned at Easter time, his sleeping has become really good. He normally only wakes if he needs a pee and then goes straight back to sleep until 6 or 6.30 or so, which is a vast improvement on before. I just need to work on giving him nothing to drink towards bedtime so that he can go all night!!

Yokefleet · 22/07/2009 21:28

Thomas is the same re:daddy, and its upsetting dh tbh
He also is having paddys if he doesn't get his own way and is very wingey have started to walk away from him and close the door behind me when he starts so that he doesn't have an audience and it stops almost as quick as it started.

Glad all was well with the scan, must have been fantastic! xxx

Yokefleet · 05/08/2009 17:40

Just a quickie from me to say hope everyone is well. Thomas has started being really really stroppy at the moment, he is always close to tears and everything winds him up. I think that it is probably to do with being bored and missing school
Its Daniel's first birthday on Friday and the Inlaws are coming to stay tomorrow til Sunday from Yorkshire so a busy few days for us here, lets hope that the change in faces will improve Tom's mood!

stinkymalinkireturns · 06/08/2009 14:27

Hi Ladies, just a quick update to let you know that Joey has a baby sister

Millie arrived 2 weeks early on Monday 3rd August weighing an impressive 7Ib 13.5oz, and she's absolutely beautiful. I'd forgotten just how tiny newborns are and how exhausting it all is!

Joey is very good with her, although he seemed far more interested in the Thomas Tank Hornby train set and Tonka truck that she thoughtfully had in her hospital bag for him!

ponto · 06/08/2009 23:32

Congratulations Stinkymalinki! Millie is a lovely name. Hope all is going well for you and that you get some sleep soon.

Yokefleet, happy birthday to Daniel for tomorrow. Hope you all enjoy his party.

How's the pregnancy coming along MB?

Alice is already looking forward to her birthday - only 2.5 months to go! She wants a 'fairy party' and has seen a Snow Queen Palace at the Early Learning Centre that she has asked for - she already has a doll's house and a fairytale castle, we are running out of room. She would love it though, I will have to see whether she still wants it when her birthday is nearer, and negotiate clearing some space in her bedroom.

Yokefleet · 07/08/2009 23:20

HUGE CONGRATS STINKY!!! laughed at the train as Daniel came out of my belly with a Thomas tank set for Thomas too! How are you feeling?

Thanks Ponto, we had a lovely day with Daniel, took him to Folly Farm near Tenby for the day with Thomas & my 5yo niece and they all loved it. Daniel was fasinated by the candle on his birthday cake and was shocked when the flame disappeared! Alices party sounds like it will be fab, really don't know what we are going to do for Thomas as we usually go up to Yorkshire for it but aren't this year as dh doesn't have much time off work available at that time.

Yokefleet · 12/08/2009 14:18

house bound here at the minute as Thomas has chicken pox, he is very clingy with it and very upset, so I am exhausted, any bets that Daniel starts with it as soon as Thomas is clear???

stinkymalinkireturns · 13/08/2009 15:06

Yokefleet, you have my sympathies - Joey managed to get chicken pox when i was 35 weeks pregnant! Not fun!

Gosh, i'd forgotten just how tiring it all is with a newborn. Millie is a very placid baby, but even so...! I suppose some of it is that i only had one to contend with last time around.

mawbroon · 21/08/2009 20:58

Congratulations stinky! I hope everything is going well for you.

I am now 12+4 weeks. I have my scan and booking in on Monday, so hopefully all will be fine.

Johnny is doing really well. He is no trouble at all and is being so lovely and sweet. We have lovely conversations about all sorts of things, and I really enjoy his company just now. Actually, I've always enjoyed his company, but he is especially sweet just now.

He's been back at nursery for 2 days now, and I think by next week, he will be back into the swing of it. I just hope he can cope with the full on 5 sessions. I guess I can always take him out the odd day if it's too much for him.

Hope you are all well.

mawbroon · 24/08/2009 14:17

I had my scan and booking in today. Everything was fine.

The midwife kept asking if I had any questions and I was like, nope, second pregnancy, it's just a bit ho hum get on with it!! My poor neglected second child!

Yokefleet · 26/09/2009 21:22

Hello!

How are our nearly 4 year olds doing??
Thomas is loving school, loves his school uniform bless him. He is quite stroppy and fiercely independant. He is also very protective of Daniel who is now nearly 14months old.
We aren't having a party for Thomas' birthday just planning on taking him to a zoo for the day instead x
