My darling boy's birthday today

We gave him a Fisher Price Little People garage as his main present, which he loves, as well as loads of Bob the Builder trucks and Thomas the tank engine bits.

He's currently having a nap, then we're having a little birthday tea later.

A good day SM x

MB - The lovely weather has now moved to London, it's a little grey but very warm

Yokefleet · 03/10/2007 20:29

Thanks guys! and MB get your finger out!!!
Who's birthday is next now then? x

Jane4 · 03/10/2007 21:35

I'm not sure who's next, but Mia's is on the 11th

mawbroon · 03/10/2007 22:02

Johnny's is ages away yet on the 21st. RTL's wee girl was born the same day as him too.

YF - I got my finger out and as ever with these things, the dreading was worse that the doing tbh.

Johnny eventually woke up after sleeping for four hours. He ate a huge tea and then promptly squirted out the other end. Without going in to huge detail, I could tell that it was his breakfast in his nappy, so something is wrong because I'm sure normal digestion takes around 24 hours. He went to bed at his usual time and fell asleep pretty quickly.

mawbroooooooooon · 04/10/2007 14:25

Here's my new Hallowe'en name. I am not very imaginitive and have used last year's one.

Johnny isn't great again today. He's very pale and clingy. He used to run about daft giggling and grinning like a loon and I haven't seen him like that for weeks now I have decided to only give him breastmilk for the next two days and then slowly introduce really bland stuff to get to the bottom of this problem (no pun intended). I phoned my HV and she said that it was a good idea (hooray, she's seems to be very pro breastfeeding ) and she's coming out tomorrow to weigh him so we have a starting point in case there is any weight loss. Don't know about you guys, but I never bother taking him to get weighed. The last several times have been at immunisation time or for his routine allergy appointments at the hospital.

ELF1981 · 04/10/2007 18:44

Sorry that Johnny still isn't well MB
On the weight thing, we weigh Evelyn at home, she's 24lbs (still) bless her.

Happy belated birthday to Thomas YF!

Evelyn's is on Saturday, we are having a little tea at my mums house. We have got her a FiFi bike and she is very excited!!

Jane4 · 04/10/2007 19:03

Mia is really small as well, haven't had her weighed for ages but at 19 months she was 19lb 10oz or 8.9 kilos (still not heavy enough for the forward facing car seat lol, although I put her in it at 13 months) she is in 9-12 months clothes, sometimes 12-18months.
DP is only 5ft 6in I am 5ft 4in. My dad was 6ft, my boys have taken after my dad and are quite big, my eldest dd is the same as me, but I think Mia will be like her Italian cousins and very petite.

A belated Happy Birthday for Thomas, Yokefleet

We've just got back from a short break at Center Parcs which was lovely, although Joey has totally given up the pushchair now so he either walks everywhere (yay!) or has to be carried (boo!)

Also got home today to some good news - i don't know if any of you remember, but we were recently having 'issues' with our local nursery as they would take children from 2 but they had to be potty trained. Well, i wrote to them and said that Joey was nowhere near ready for potty training, so they had a meeting and have agreed to change their policy and will 'happily' accept him in pull-ups! Result! So, as from Tuesday, Joey starts Nursery once a week

Happy Birthday Evelyn, Have a great day

mawbroooooooooon · 06/10/2007 14:01

Happy birthday Evelyn

Glad you had a nice time at Centre Parcs stinky.

I have taken drastic action with Johnny. After the five awful nappies complete with cramps and distress on Wednesday, I decided just to breastfeed him for two days and then put him on to bland food, building up gradually to more foods, but with complete elimination of dairy. I managed 36 hours breastfeeding only, but the poor child was starving and so pale and starting to look weak and ill, so I gave him some boiled rice. He ate every last grain and then asked for more, so that day he had boiled rice, a banana and a grated apple. Today, he's had ready brek (made with water - bleugh), banana, more boiled rice and some chicken. He hasn't done anything in his nappy since Wednesday, but I am assuming that this is good as stuff isn't whooshing through any more and am hopeful that what comes out will be solid. I am planning to eliminate dairy entirely for a month to try to let his tummy heal. No egg and no dairy is a pretty tall order, so I guess I will be doing a lot more cooking and modifying recipes etc. It's worth it to help him though, he was in a dreadful state.

It is a beautiful day here today, when Johnny wakes from his nap, we are going to meet his cousins at the fantoosh new play park in the town.

Happy Birthday Evelyn

Hope you all have a lovely day! Its's certainly nice weather for it (well it is in my neck of the woods!)

Howdy all

We have had a lovely day here - the weather was nice enough for the kids to still be playing in my parents back garden at six.

I cannot believe my little girl is two!!

I also cannot believe that I attempted to play pass the parcel with ten children aging from six months to ten years

MB - glad to hear that Johnny seems to be on the mend.

mawbroooooooooon · 07/10/2007 13:11

Glad you had a lovely day ELF.

WE HAVE SOLID POOP . Johnny wasn't grinning though, he must have been a bit alarmed at the sensation after not feeling it for so long. Unfortunately, half an hour after the solid poop he did a squirty nappy, but I am heartened at the solid poop. I've never looked forward to a poop arriving so much. I really hope to stop droning on about Johnny's illnesses soon, but it's dominating our lives so much at the moment that I've little else to talk about. This morning, he was eating like it was going out of fashion. He had a huge bowl of ready brek, a slice of toast, a pear and then three more slices of bread, all before lunchtime, then at lunch he had a banana, some chicken and some sausage. I suppose he's got a lot of catching up to do.

mawbroooooooooon · 09/10/2007 13:52

What a miserable day here today. Yuk yuk yuk.
I have my old Johnny back since stopping him on dairy. He can't seem to eat enough, he is having two plates of everything and asking for snacks all day long. He is laughing and giggling and generally being a big bundle of fun which is great to see after 5 weeks of him being so miserable. We are going to the doc on Friday to discuss where we go now with the dairy intolerence. Keeping him off it forever is probably not neccessary, but I don't just want to give him say a drink of milk and make him ill again. Doc will probably be useless. Ho hum. I am becoming such a MN Mum. He had quinoa for lunch today and kept saying "kee ah, kee ah" then signing more. he loved it!

Hope everyone is well

Jane4 · 09/10/2007 14:33

It's a horrible day here in London as well, it has been raining all day, not looking forward to the school run, I'll get soaked.
I had a birthday party for Mia on Sunday, it went really well as the weather was nice and they could play out side (her birthday is not until the 11th, Thursday) I invited 11 children, but only 8 were able to make it, so we had quite a house full LOL
Re: possible dairy allergy, my friends little girl is lactose intolerant (sp) she came to Mia's party, I didn't want her to be left out so I got some dairy free 'smarties' from Holland & barratt & some dairy free chocolate buttons from Tesco's, also bought cakes but then found out she is also intolerant to eggs. I also did jelly, her face was a picture as she had never had chocolate before, her mum didn't realize there was so much choice.

mawbroooooooooon · 09/10/2007 22:31

Belated happy birthday to Mia.
Re the egg allergy and the dairy intolerence, I haven't gone down the road of giving him "safe" alternatives to cakes and biscuits etc. I feel this is too confusing for him, because he is too young to understand why he could have a biscuit yesterday, but not today so we just have a blanket ban on all that stuff. No bad thing as it's a great excuse to make sure that "well meaning" people don't stuff him full of shite. Also, at parties and things, he would help himself to food off other kids plates as well as eating crumbs off the floor so I have to really drum it into him that he can't eat that stuff. My sister recommended giving him an M&M if he pees in the potty when we get to toilet training time, so I might check out some of the non dairy treats for that purpose only. I don't like the food as a reward idea, but for a (hopefully) short lived thing like potty training, I might just bend a little.
I had my childminding inspection yesterday and it was fine. Because there were no recommendations brought up from my last inspection it was just a very small inspection plus checking over the new house to make sure it was ok. I just have to wait for the fire brigade to inspect and then I am ready to rock and roll.

Jane4 · 10/10/2007 11:12

Mia's party was on Sunday, but her actual birthday is tomorrow the 11th, very confusing I know, but most of my post natal group work so I can only have a party at the weekend

Yes. Happy birthday Mia. Have got the right day today!

slalomsuki · 11/10/2007 18:13

Its my dd's today too and it just seems like yesterday that she arrived bang on due date. At the moment she is having the time of her life eating pizza and bossing her brothers and father around

mawbroooooooooon · 11/10/2007 19:57

Happy birthday to your dd slalomsuki. How do I know your name? I'm sure you must have popped into the thread before?

Johnny is fantastic now he's back to full health. He now helps me at teatime by doing little jobs like setting the table. Ha ha ha, dh comes home to find all the dinner things randomly placed on the table and knows straight away that Johnny did it!! Last night, I sat him on the floor with the bucket of dried pasta and a big pan. He was putting pasta shapes around two at a time into the pan saying "dasta" every time. It keeps him out of my road so that I can get on with making the rest of the tea.

Jockey · 12/10/2007 09:53

Hi everyone. I've been thinking about you all - my dd is 2 tomorrow! Where on earth has the time gone!?!

This time 2 years ago I was thinking I had another week or so to go but she actually came on time (unheard of, for me) and we weren't ready - yikes! Now I'm off to buy some party food and a yummy cake .

Happy Birthday to all the little 2 year olds and I hope to be able to post again before their 3rd birthdays!

stinkymalinki · 13/10/2007 14:17

Happy birthday to your DD Jockey

My friend had her baby yesterday. She was due to have an elective section next Wednesday as she suffered a 3rd degree tear with her DS (ouch!), but i had a text lunchtime to say 'shit, waters broken'. They held out for her DH to get back from work, then baby Lucy was lifted into the world via a semi-emergency C/S at 5.15pm weighing 6Ib 6oz.

I'm really pleased for them - one of each is the 'perfect' family (she knew what she was having with her DS, but deliberately chose not to know this time around). I'm also a bit too, but i suppose thats normal! Still, only a few more months till we can start trying again
