My darling boy's birthday today

We gave him a Fisher Price Little People garage as his main present, which he loves, as well as loads of Bob the Builder trucks and Thomas the tank engine bits.

He's currently having a nap, then we're having a little birthday tea later.

A good day SM x

Goodness, that sounds nasty MB. Hope you don't take as long as 5 weeks to recover. Are you cm'ing at the moment.

Ds2 took his first steps today. Looking back it looks like he is the same age (to the day!)as ds1 was.

mawbroon · 17/04/2009 22:29

I hope it won't take five weeks too! i was back at the doc today, and now she thinks it could also be a strep infection in my throat. I am thinking it is probably both slapped cheek and strep throat which would explain why I feel so bad.

My temperature was normal today for the first time since Monday which is a good sign and I feel a good bit better now.

I have cancelled mindees for all of next week just to make sure that I am totally recovered. i have a particularly energetic 6yo who I mind and I need to be well to deal with him properly.

How old is your ds1 now? I can't believe all these younger sibs are growing up so quickly!

mawbroon · 19/04/2009 22:16

OMG, I have just been reading some really old threads on here, especially the one when our dc were born.

I was hardly on MN at all! How did I manage that?

I was talking about Johnny sleeping stretches of 9 and 10 hours and being desperate for the boob. Well, he doesn't even sleep that well now and he's still desperate for the boob.

Hard to believe it was me posting some of that stuff back then! [broody]

DontlookatmeImshy · 20/04/2009 11:19

That's wierd MB. I've just been doing the same thing. I'm also copying out quite a bit into a note book as a sort of diary in case MN ever disappeared. It's quite nice to look back and compare what ds1 was doing with what ds2 is doing now (he's 14 months now ) and realise ds1 also went through this clingy stage about now and that it WILL pass.

mawbroon · 20/04/2009 16:17

I'm sure there is a way to save threads DLAMIS, don't know how, but probably easier than copying into a book!!

I think it has been triggered by the fact that my sister was due her baby yesterday and I am getting all excited and very broody.

Clinginess? It's a phase, this too will pass.....

Yokefleet · 20/04/2009 22:00

Hello all, hope you are feeling better MB.

Been really busy with my two recently can't remember the last time I came on here!!
Thomas is starting nusery school tomorrow (2nd time lucky!) am really hoping that it goes ok this time around (got to say though that this last week he seems to have had loads of little accidents, my washing pile has been huge)
Daniel is doing well, 8months old already I don't know where the time has gone, went to get him his first pair of shoes today as he is starting to pull himself up the furniture now and his crawling is coming on a treat.
Its nice to read back on some of the old threads, can't believe that it is my words half the time! god I have been so much more laid back this time around!
MB - sending you loads of babydust xxx

mawbroon · 21/04/2009 10:42

Hi YF. Still not quite right here. Doc phoned yesterday to say that the tests confirmed that I had Scarletina which is a mild form of Scarlet fever. Mild my arse! Well, actually I had scarlet fever as a kid and this was indeed mild. Anyway, I still have a slight temperature and have to take a double dose of antibiotics which is making me feel sick. lovely, eh?

Hope you are all well. Johnny is exactly three and a half today.

Yokefleet · 03/05/2009 21:32

Hope that you are better now MB x

Well Thomas has done 2 weeks at school now and although he is telling me in the morning that he doesn't want to go and he is hard work getting through the school door the teacher is saying that he is settling in and mixing well with the other children He can now count up to five in Welsh and is very proud of himself bless him!! lol
Daniel is crawling all over and pulling himself up on furniture and just generally a busy little boy. I forgot just how busy the babies get when they start to move, he is just sooooooo quick

Hope everyone is well and that the little ones are keeping you all busy!

mawbroon · 08/05/2009 22:53

Yes, all recovered now thanks YF. Johnny went straight from the Scarletina to have a cough/cold/runny nose thing, so he was a bit washed out for a while, even too tired to play at the park and the like, but he seems ok now.

When i was ill, I took the oppurtunity to do some night weaning. We are about three weeks on now, and Johnny has become in need of a lot of attention through the day. I am fairly sure this is related, but seeing we have managed to stop night feeding, I am going to stick with my decision and see what happens with his behaviour, and I will see if it makes any odds with the ttc.

I'm glad to hear that Thomas is doing well at school YF. I volunteered at Johnny's nursery last week and it was interesting to see him in action. To start with, I was in the cupboard sorting the dreaded book bags, but I could hear him chattering away with the other kids. He wasn't clingy to me or anything which was great. The teacher said that he is very independent, asks if he needs help, never seems lost at all, knows what he wants to do and has never once been upset. I guess that's all good!

Hope you are all ok.

Yokefleet · 08/05/2009 23:12

aw its good to hear that Johnny is doing well and that you are all recovered too!
I would love to be a fly on the wall at Thomas' school to see what he is like!! I wouldn't want him to see me as he would behave differently iykwim.
Good to hear that the weaning seems to be working. Thomas is definatley more cuddly during the afternoon after school so I am just making the most of it whilst it lasts lol

mawbroon · 08/05/2009 23:23

Johnny's teacher told me that he is still doing quite a bit of solitary play, which is what you would expect at this age. But, one day he started telling me all the names of the other children in his class, so I wrote them down and he could name 13 out of 19 children. He might be doing solitary play, but he knows exactly who is who!!

Yokefleet · 09/05/2009 15:34

aw bless him!! Thomas suddenly started talking about Morgan this morning and hubby and I were chuffed to bits till we found out it was a character out of one of the kids programes that he had seen at my sisters last night!!

ponto · 14/05/2009 20:26

Glad to hear Thomas and Johnny are settled into nursery. Alice won't start until September, but she's enjoying her 2 mornings at playschool. I've just gone back to work after maternity leave with dd3, it's only 2 days a week and my mum comes to look after the girls, but I think it has affected Alice a bit. Not in a bad way particularly, she's just become very affectionate towards me, always asking for hugs and kisses and saying 'I like you Mummy' (her highest accolade, she doesn't really use the word love unless describing food!) I said this to dh and he said she's the same as ever with him, so I think it must be related to my work. And dd3 has just started giving me lots of wet sloppy kisses too, so I'm feeling very well loved. Just as well, as work is busy and fairly stressful!

mawbroon · 21/05/2009 11:06

Just a quick one as I up to my ears with getting ready to go away.

We are heading up to the north west coast for a few nights. We will be staying in a wooden hut which is completely basic, but unlike a tent, it won't blow away, it has a heater and a power point, and a kettle. I am hoping that Johnny enjoys it. he is certainly very excited about going.

Trouble is that it can pish with rain for days and days on end up the west coast, so a good chance we could be spending a lot of time in the hut because there is bugger all else to do there......

Hope you are all well

DontlookatmeImshy · 26/05/2009 01:02

Mb - hope you survived in your wooden hut?. It's been lovely and sunny here so hopefully you've had nice weather too.

We've had D&V going round here. Ds1, then ds2, then dh. It was like having 3 children .

Ds1's speech is fantastic now after his slow start and his imagination is amazing, even pre-school have commented on it. He loves ds2 to bits and is still really protective of him (has been since he was born). Last week when other children were crowding round ds2 in the buggy ds1 was getting all -possessive- protective fending them off saying "He's MY baby, he's not YOUR baby"

I can't believe they're all going to be 4 this year!! Where has that time gone!

Dlamis · 26/05/2009 15:28

I've namechanged to this for a while.
Bored and fed up with Dontlook, but can't think of anything better at the mo.

Hope everyone has had a nice BH weekend. The boys have had a great time in the sun but they don't like having to inside/in the shade when they've been out a long time. But ds2 is still a baldy and won't keep his sunhat on. Arrghh.

He is currently kissing the telly Rolymo on cbeebies. He's so cute. I want another one

Yokefleet · 26/05/2009 21:28

We have the D&V going round here too hope everyone is on the mend soon

Great news about ds1's speech dlamis, Thomas' is still improving but its still not great.

We have had a fab few days with loads of picnics and trips out in the sunshine. I remembered to put the sun cream onto the kids and they were fine, forgot to put it onto me and I am very very sore today

Ds2 is crusing all over and he is into everything, the time seems to have gone so much more quickly with Daniel then it did with Thomas I can't believe that he is 9 months old. (I am happy to stick to 2 though!!!)

MB - hope you have had a fab time

mawbroon · 08/06/2009 22:30

Just a quick hello to anyone who is still there!

We had a brilliant time in the hut in the wilds. DS loved it and finally mastered his balance bike. He goes whizzing about all over the place now which is great because he really didn't like to walk anywhere so now we can take the bike.

We have had a setback with the dairy thing. It seems that he can't tolerate goats milk/cheese any more, so we are having to cut that out now. I am just wondering WTF the child will eat!!

HOpe you are all well and enjoying the good weather that seems to be coming and going!

Yokefleet · 09/06/2009 21:15

sounds like you had a great time MB! shame about the dairy though

Not a lot to report here at the moment, Thomas is enjoying school and Daniel is getting stronger by the day,

Paul had the snip on Friday I can't believe that it has taken so long Daniel is 10 months old already!

I am going to see Take That in Cardiff next week with a few girlie friends and we are going to go for the day, Paul is having the boys for the day and we are gonna have a lovely girly afternoon having a long leisurely lunch (I don't remember what eating a meal is like without kids!! lol)

mawbroon · 09/06/2009 21:48

at Take That!!

Johnny has spent most of the day on his balance bike. He doesn't like walking, and on a normal day we have to walk quite far. He is getting too heavy for me to backpack, even for short distances, but seems quite happy to go on his bike. I take it on the bus with us and it is great to be able to walk at normal pace while he zooms along beside me. I have no idea how he learned to balance on two wheels, but he can do it and my goodness he goes fast. Often I have to run to keep up with him!!

He was sad today that he wasn't going to nursery. He is up to three days a week now, and tbh I think he could go every day and be fine, but we are sticking with three just now. He tells me that he loves everything at nursery, there is nothing that he doesn't like, and that he's too busy to miss me.

I can't believe how quickly he is growing. We measured him against the wall at the end of march, and now in the first week of June, he is a whole inch taller!! He is very solid, but is starting to get lean. He will never be a skinny malink but once he loses his toddler belly then he will be pretty streamline.

I can't believe he is hurtling towards being 4. Surely he will wean soon and let me get pregnant.

Yokefleet · 10/06/2009 16:50

keeping my fingers crossed for you on the getting pg MB!
Thomas has gone really skinny now (he could eat for England, Ireland, Scotland & Wales if we would let him!) He is gonna be tall like his dad (6ft 4)
Its great that Johnny is enjoying nursery, it makes the days much easier! Thomas is happy enough to go to school most of the time but on the days were he doesn't want to go he is really hard work!
I can't believe that we are heading towards them being four!! it has flown in soooo many ways but being childless seems like a lifetime ago.

mawbroon · 10/06/2009 18:27

LOL, you'll be getting twisted fingers YF. They have been crossed for 2.5yrs now!!

We had trauma today. Johnny got bopped on the nose by his cousin, they were fighting over the trainset and it turns out that Johnny struck the first blow then later, Johnny threw a big truck at my mindee. It hit him on the head and he was pretty shocked by it. Again, this was Johnny getting very aggressive over the trainset. I think I will put it away, it's only the trainset that seems to get him so possessive, especially the Gordon train. Sigh....

His temper seems worse now that it was when he was 2. He was pretty chilled back then. HOpefully this is just a phase......

Yokefleet · 10/06/2009 18:59

yep same goes here but its Thomas tank with him. I would put it away too MB, just for a while and then no doubt the kids will be into a whole new phase! (oh the joys..)

mawbroon · 17/06/2009 14:21

Johnny is a good bit calmer now. I have realised that the poor child has been exhausted for ages hence the terrible behaviour. I have upped his breastfeeiding through the day (or rather have stopped saying no so much) and he and I have taken to bed for naps some days, and he seems to be coping better.

We got his "report" from nursery today. It was all very nice, as I am sure they all are! I was pleased to see that they especially said that he was secure and smiling all the time. They did say that he does sometimes seem younger than his 3.5 years, but nothing to say it was a problem. It's so funny to think about how worried I was about him going there!!

Yokefleet · 18/06/2009 12:10

aw thats great news MB, Thomas really misses his afternoon nap but he won't give in and sleep anymore. I am just grateful that Thomas kept up his 2hrs afternoon nap through my pregnancy as I don't think I would have coped otherwise.

We had a fab night on Tuesday seeing Take That and it was lovely to have a girlie day out too x

If you are on facebook and wanna add me I'm Hannah Wardle Johnson (think I am the only one too!)

Better go as the boys have gone too quiet for my liking xxx
