My darling boy's birthday today

We gave him a Fisher Price Little People garage as his main present, which he loves, as well as loads of Bob the Builder trucks and Thomas the tank engine bits.

He's currently having a nap, then we're having a little birthday tea later.

A good day SM x

Yokefleet · 08/08/2008 10:11

Hello well ds2 arrived yesterday morning at 5.33am and we have named him Daniel Joseph. He looks very like Thomas did at birth with thick dark hair! I will update when I get chance as we are shattered at the moment as we haven't had much sleep since the labour started at 3.47am on Wed!

Great news about Johnny sleeping better through the night and sounds like you had a fab time whilst you were away x

ponto · 08/08/2008 10:28

Congratulations Yokefleet, fantastic news. Glad you didn't go too overdue. Hope you get the chance for some sleep today. Any chance of putting some piccies on you profile? I've put a couple of my girls on mine.

Hope softplay went well mawbroon. Well done Johnny on the sleeping through!

mawbroon · 09/08/2008 20:32

Awww, congratulations YF. I hope you are enjoying your new boy.

Johnny's sleeping is still going in the right direction, but my goodness the lack of night time feeding is making me grumpy as anything!

I have started taking a herbal remedy to regulate my hormones to help ttc. Either it will help things, or I will dismiss it at hocus pocus mumbo jumbo!

But if it tinkers with my hormones, I will be even more grumpy! Aaaargh.

This will be my last cycle before the due date of the pg that I miscarried. I was kind of expecting to be pregnant again by now, but hey ho, what will be, will be and all that...

Anyone seen Elf?

DontlookatmeImshy · 16/08/2008 21:45

Congratulations YF

mawbroon · 19/08/2008 21:31

Hey Hester, yoo hoo, we are here!!!

hester · 19/08/2008 21:36

Helloooo ladies, long time no see! Thanks for waving me down, mawbroon!

How lovely to see you all; I'd just assumed you'd all wandered off! Haven't had time to read the thread yet, but I will. In the meantime, just to say: me and dd are doing really well. She is absolutely delightful: tall and skinny and tomboyish, with big blue eyes. She is into pirates and spiders and tractors. She is very loving and articulate and stubborn.

And I'm applying to adopt!

hester · 19/08/2008 21:36

Back tomorrow when I've had time to read the thread properly. Really looking forward to catching up on the gossip.

mawbroon · 19/08/2008 21:39

LOL that's a lot of reading hester!

We might need to start a new thread seeing they are approaching their third birthdays!

mears · 19/08/2008 21:39

hester - thansk for the offer on the other thread - would be great if you could put something together

Hiya everyone - sorry for gatecrashing

ElfOnTheTopShelf · 19/08/2008 21:49

yooohoooo folks!

Quick post, promise to catch up properly tomorrow on lunch.

But must say... YF - congrats on the new arrival!

mawbroon · 19/08/2008 21:58

Oooooh we have MN royalty on our post natal thread.

hester · 20/08/2008 18:22

Hi O mears the mighty!
Yes, no problem; my expensively-honed Myers Briggs expertise will be at your service, just as soon as I can put dd to bed/wash my hair/read up for tomorrow morning's big meeting...

mawbroon · 20/08/2008 20:35

We are going away for 5 nights tomorrow to the west coast. It is going to be pishing with rain and we are staying in a caravan. That is the sum total of our "summer" holiday this year.

Better than last year though, when we didn't get to go anywhere at all due to chronic skintness...

So hester, i haven't shouted you over here just to ignore you! I will be back.

DontlookatmeImshy · 28/08/2008 10:00

Hello again hester.
I remember you from the Ante-Natal threads. Saw you on another thread the other day and wondered how you'd been.

It's very quiet on here these days.

Hope YF and her new arrival are doing ok.

I tried starting to wean ds2 this week. HV's haven't really been very helpful regarding whether I should wean him at 6 months actual or 6 months corrected, so I've gone for somewhere in the middle. So far he's turned his nose up at apple and banana but was ok with baby rice and breast milk. Thinking back i think ds1 was the same.

Ds1 starts pre-school next week. I can't believe how grown-up he (and all his friends) are now. I will miss him so much but it'll be nice to be able to get some things done in peace. I'm especially looking forward to being able to do more things with ds2 like take him swimming and most of all going back to bed for a couple of hours when he has his morning nap.

Hope you have a nice holiday mb.

DanJARMouse · 28/08/2008 21:18

well oh my word, HOW LONG has it been since i was here?!

Becca is doing really well, a typical toddler, copying everything her 4yr old sister does, i actually forget she is still only 2!

I have of course had a DS since, Daniel is 9mnths old tomorrow! Im a glutton for punishment!

Hope you are all doing well!

mawbroon · 08/09/2008 15:17

I guess you ladies are all otherwise occupied just now!

Not much doing here. We managed a whole week with no night feeding, but then I caved in and started co sleeping again a couple of nights ago. I get much more sleep that way and don't see the point in standing there trying to get him back to sleep when I have the equipment in my bra that will send him back to sleep in seconds!

has anybody else started on the "why" question yet? Until recently, Johnny hasn't really understood "why?" or at least his answers have seemed that way. And now, it is why why why why. I didn't think they started on that until later, but perhaps that was wistful thinking on my part!

Had a bit of a shit day yesterday. it was the due date for the pregnancy that I miscarried and DH didn't seem to understand why I was a bit upset. men, eh? To add insult to injury I just started a heavy AF to remind me that i definitely wasn't pregnant. Most of the time i have been very philisophical about it, including today, so i was very surprised to feel like that yesterday. Oh well..

mawbroon · 14/09/2008 20:17

Well, we had a couple of terrible nights back at the co sleeping, so I resolved to try a bit harder with the sleeping. So, we have had a couple more full nights sleep which is nice, but it will take more than a few nights sleep to make up for the last 3 years!!

Yokefleet · 15/09/2008 15:10

glad to hear that you have had some good sleep MB, how is the little one doing? Thomas is still loving being a big brother but he has started to get a bit clingy again with us which is very tiring but apart from that all is well. Daniel will be 6 weeks old on Thursday which I can't believe!! were has the time gone?? He was weighed 2 weeks ago and weighed 11 lb, this last two nights he has only woken at midnight, 3 and 5am which has been fab! Actually feel quite human!
I am suprised at how different I feel with a baby this time round, I know that everything is just a phase and we have to work through it, so I haven't found the sleepless nights as bad this time round.
Better go as Paul is off work today (he has taken loads of long weekends between now and Xmas which is fab!!)

ponto · 23/09/2008 10:42

Hi all, just checking in...

Busy, busy, busy here with 3 dds. Spending a lot of time feeding dd3 so Alice is enjoying plenty of CBeebies - she can sing along to all the theme tunes! I haven't managed to get a nursery place for her yet, is anyone's LO starting soon?

Hope you're all well

mawbroon · 23/09/2008 16:27

hi ponto, yes three dcs sounds busy.

johnny isn't right today. yesterday he had a real clingy couple of hours, this morning he woke with a croaky voice and a croupy cough and now he is asleep on my knee with a 39.6 degree temp.

we have a nursery place, but here they don't start until the term after they are three, so not until january! we went to visit the nursery and he loved it. it is a small class so he will get some attention. i was worried about him never being noticed because he is so laid back!

he is waking much less in the night now, he sleeps through maybe twice a week and the other days he sometimes doesn't wake until maybe 5am which is a huge improvement. he normally goes back to sleep unless it is after about 6am, so not toobad. and it means that we are still doing a bit of cuddly co sleeping which i would miss if he were to sleep through every night!

Yokefleet · 02/10/2008 13:59

HELLO OCTOBER BABIES & MUMMIES!! Well its Thomas' 3rd birthday tomorrow, OMG were did that go!!! We are having a little party with a couple of friends which we are looking forward too. We started toilet training properly this week with Thomas as Paul is home for the week. It isn't going to well really but its early days for him I guess. Daniel is coming on leaps and bounds and weighed in last week (7weeks old) at 13lb 10oz he is luvvvllllllllllyyyyyyyyyy
Right I am off now as Thomas needs the loo!

mawbroon · 05/10/2008 21:34

Hi YF. Hope Thomas had a fantastic birthday. It is so hard to believe that it was all three years ago!

Not a lot doing here. Johnny is starting to assert himself a bit more. He is still no trouble really, but he has been so laid back up to now, that it keeps me on my toes!! He is managing to control himself very well though. He had a spell of biting me (only me - usually when i said no to breastfeeding) but now, he wails "Mummy, I want to bite you" but then doesn't. Poor lamb, it must be sooo hard being that age!

We have stopped night feeding now (I know I said this before, but really we have this time!) so I am hoping that it might help in the ttc department, but I have resigned myself to not getting pg until we stop feeding all together and anything else will be a bonus!

We had a lovely day today. The weather was fabulous so we went a walk along the promenade at the beach and Johnny rode his wee trike. then we went to a farm which was having an open day. It was lovely and Johnny was soo excited going on the tractor ride!

Hope you are all well.

ElfOnTheTopShelf · 05/10/2008 23:28

Hi ya all!
Glad to hear that you have all been doing well
Evelyn will be three tomorrow; I'm shocked about where the time has gone and, to be honest, a little bit nostolgic and broody!!
Evelyn is coming on leaps and bounds, she is so sweet and funny. She's also very independant and determined - she keeps me on my toes, bless her!

Dontlookatmeimshy · 07/10/2008 17:48

Happy Birthday to Thomas and Evelyn.

Ds1 was 3 on Saturday. Can't quite believe it!!

Toilet training here too. Not going to well but hopefully it can only get better.

mawbroon · 10/10/2008 07:54

We were at the bike shop yesterday trying out a balance bike for Johnny's birthday present. His birthday isn't until the 21st but I think we will just get it now for him seeing as he knows what he is getting.

I have invited 9 other children for his party!! EEEK. It is at 4-6pm so I am doing food for everyone which will take quite a large chunk of time, so I don't think I need to worry about lots of games etc.

Happy birthday to everyone, and good luck to those who are potty training.
