My darling boy's birthday today

We gave him a Fisher Price Little People garage as his main present, which he loves, as well as loads of Bob the Builder trucks and Thomas the tank engine bits.

He's currently having a nap, then we're having a little birthday tea later.

A good day SM x

Happy birthday Joey.

Hard to believe it's two years.

stinkymalinki · 26/09/2007 13:47

Thank you Mawbroon. Glad to hear Johnny's on the mend, although bummer about the possible milk intolerance. Joey has all but given up drinking milk now - i was initially worried, as he suddenly went from drinking over a pint a day, to barely a 150ml cup full, when he had his cold and he's not upped it again, but i have noticed he is eating better now and my GP says not to worry about it as he still drinks plenty of water and it hasn't disrupted his sleep pattern or anything, so he's obviously still getting enough calories.

It's a shame about the weather today - DH got Joey a small bouncey castle to go in the garden, but from the looks of things the heavens are about to open!

Shame about the rain stinky but I'm sure there will be plenty more opportunities to use the castle!

I think the whole importance of milk (at this age) is blown out of proportion tbh. Like you say, if Joey's eating better and drinking water, it probably doesn't matter that he's not drinking huge quantities of milk. I started giving Johnny cows milk when he asked for a breastfeed when I was toying with the idea of weaning him, but I've decided that I'm happy to let him self wean, so he doesn't need any dairy at all because he's still getting gallons of breastmilk I hear it slooshing around when he's feeding, so I know it's there!!

Jane4 · 26/09/2007 16:23

Happy Birthday Joey, Have a great day and enjoy your birthday tea party

Jane4 · 26/09/2007 16:31

I agree with MB about the milk, my older 2 never had cows milk or yoghurt's when they were little only cheese and they grew up really healthy, my eldest DD broke her thumb when she was 19, (her 1st break) but that was only because she had a few too many in a club and the combination of that and very high heels she fell over and bent her thumb backwards LOL. That will teach her

Yokefleet · 26/09/2007 17:24

Happy Birthday Joey!! hope you have a fantastic day!!

We have got Tom the fisher price garage & thomas tank engine stuff too!

ELF1981 · 26/09/2007 18:52

ELF1981 · 26/09/2007 18:53

We are getting Evelyn a scooter for her birthday

RE the house, doesn't sound good, our estate agent called to say that their mortgage advisor have said no re lending them that money, they're off to see somebody else on Fri, so I will know then whether its sold.

RedtartanLass · 27/09/2007 08:11

Happy birthday Joey, keep forgetting that you used to be NM!!!

Thomas next eh Yorky, anything planned? Think it was Jockey after or maybe morningpaper.......seems so long ago

Just remember being incredibly cheesed off because it was not fair, as I was due before them. Me and J&Rmum were going frantic!!!

Ahhh happy days...wonder how bigbumpbonnie, mishmash,et all are gettign on? In fact I still ave Danish mummys email, might drop her a line.

RedtartanLass · 27/09/2007 08:12

Obvioulsy I know that Joey wasn't NM but Stinky!!

Yokefleet · 27/09/2007 09:54

rtl yep Thomas is 2 on Wednesday! I can't believe it! we are just having a family tea party for him and my sister as they share the same birthday. I can't wait we are making him a Thomas tank engine cake, got him the fisher price garage & some Thomas toys. Scarlett sounds like she is coming on really well, Thomas was early to walk but slow to speak! Don't get many words from him yet but he is very vocal and I am sure it is all gonna come at once!

mawbroon · 27/09/2007 12:15

You've got a great memory RTL. I don't remember anything about the order we all gave birth, but I do remember that you were dilating for days on end and JARM was getting very impatient. Now, who was it that had been on the ante natal thread and then had the baby really early, like at the end of August or something?

Must confess to not having given Johnny's birthday any thought whatsoever, but it is still almost a month away. His birthday is on a Sunday so we will probably have a few relatives over, but not a party really. I must remember that if I have another elective section that Friday is a good day for it - means the first and second birthdays will be on a weekend

Re the milk intolerence. Not so sure any more that it's an intolerence. He puked in bed last night and has had diarrhoea again today so looking more like a tummy bug, especially as DH is currently dying in bed after a couple of explosions over the toilet. Sorry, TMI

ELF1981 · 27/09/2007 12:22

Wasn't it Bonnie who had the very early baby?

My memory isn't what it used to be!

Evelyn sounds like a cross between Darth Vadar and Donald Duck at the moment re breathing and talking, she's got a horrible blocked nose and sore throat, roll on summer

mawbroon · 29/09/2007 15:09

Oh poor wee Evelyn. Darth Vadar/Donald Duck I'll tell her you said that Elf

Erm, any of you mums of boys encountered the toddler erection yet? Luckily I have seen many threads on MN about it, so was able to be quite blase about the whole thing. He's not really one for fiddling with it, but I suppose that will change soon enough

Another MN topic happened this morning. Johnny was giving his teddies medicine and putting his socks on them and the like, then he growled and did the sign for "bear" and then the sign for "milk", pulled up my top and "attached" his teddy bear to me. Teddy then proclaimed my milk to be "mmmmm" which was very sweet indeed

ELF1981 · 30/09/2007 08:59

Aw bless!

Evelyn still snotty and poorly. I have suspicions that she has slapped cheek because she's had all the symptoms. No point taking her to the doc about it as they dont do antyhing regarding it.

She doesnt sound like Donald Duck anymore, and probably more a snuffly hedgehog than Darth Vader now

Jane4 · 01/10/2007 14:02

Hi all,
Mia has now got a bad cold, quite pleased in one way as it's her birthday next week, so she should be fine by then, having a birthday party on Sunday at home (her actual birthday is on the 11th) 8 children are coming so will be really hectic, but looking forward to it, can't believe she is nearly 2, how time flies, it's going to be hard with Mia as she is my last one, so I must try not to baby her too much, as I really don't want her to grow up, sob! sob!

mawbroon · 01/10/2007 14:46

I'd never heard of slapped cheek until I came on MN Elf. I wonder if we call it something else here? I hope Evelyn is right as rain soon.

Jane - I've just looked at your profile. You are very glam indeed. Don't envy you 8 kids at the party and I hope Mia is better in time! I still have no idea what we will be doing for Johnny's birthday.

It is absolutely roasting here today. We have just had a cup of tea outside in the garden and we had to put the sunshade up!! If we had sat there any longer I would seriously have had to get the sunblock out.

I'm back to thinking that Johnny might have a milk or dairy intolerence. I took him off dairy altogether when he had that tummy bug and reintroduced some milk in his ready brek this morning. Hey presto, a yukky nappy a few hours later. I will maybe start a food diary and then take him to the doctor about it. I'm not sure if they can test for intolerences the same way as they can with allergies. At least this is "just" a yukky nappy at stake rather than a potentially horrible allergic reaction like he has with eggs. Poor wee lamb

ELF1981 · 01/10/2007 18:37

quick post, will post later. But MB, slapped cheek is sometimes called Fifth Disease iirc

Jane4 · 01/10/2007 18:42

Mawbroon - Where do you live? I am in London and it's bl**dy freezing cold and rainy here, hasn't stopped all day

mawbroon · 01/10/2007 19:56

I'm in Edinburgh Jane. Not a cloud in the sky today and the forecast said 16 degrees, but it was more like 20. They reckon it's going to be the same for another couple of days. Hooray.

I am going to a childminders group tomorrow morning for the first time. I don't know if I mentioned this on the other thread, but I am planning to restart very soon and will be doing short term and emergency cover rather than open ended contracts. This is because I am ttc and would hate to have parents think that they'd got their child settled with a new childminder only for me to announce that I was pregnant and quitting soon. So, I need to pal up with other local childminders in the hopes that they will pass business my way if they are sick or on holiday or whatever. I can't decide if this group will be more or less daunting than a new toddler group.

Yokefleet · 03/10/2007 13:00

Hello all, just a quickie!
Its Thomas' birthday today, i can't believe my baby is 2!!!!!
He is just going for a nap now before my sister comes (as it is her b day too) and then we are gonna do the cakes & pressies bit! I can't wait xxx

mawbroon · 03/10/2007 13:06

Hope you have a lovely day YF and HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Thomas.

Jane4 · 03/10/2007 15:58

Happy Birthday Thomas, enjoy your birthday tea & pressies xxx

mawbroon · 03/10/2007 16:03

Can anybody tell me when Johnny is going to be well again. Three squirty nappies in quick succession this morning, only this time they were accompanied by real distress and trying to curl up. Seems to me like he's in pain with it. He went down for his nap at 1230 and is still sleeping - that's 3.5hrs so far.

It's four whole weeks now since he first got ill and I am feeling so sorry for the wee chap. I know I would not like to have a cough/cold, then an ear infection and tonsillitis followed by a tummy bug.

Our lovely weather has vanished and it's raining now. To be expected I suppose. It is October after all.

mawbroon · 03/10/2007 16:05

LOL that was a friggin cheery post eh?

I'm supposed to be doing my risk assessment for my Care Commission inspection on Monday. Tell me to get the finger out please.
