faylisa, I started weight watchers a couple of weeks ago, I wonder if that could have affected my supply. I've stopped now anyway, it's all a bit too much at the moment. Spoke to a LLL councellor, she suggested trying to improve my supply by feeding DD more often, also maybe a slow let down so I'm to try and encourage it before feeding.

Feel much better now. Felt awful earlier. It's like being Jekyll and Hyde I'm so up and down!

derlor · 26/09/2007 20:04

hello
bumper - you need to rest rest rest, and eat well!!! >> You are ALWAYS going here and there, just shut your door, take your phone off the hook and unplug your pooter!!! for 24-48 hours and have some MUCH needed baby/mummy time. Drink pleanty of water and eat some porridge, have lovely long baths or sleep when she sleeps and relax!!! THAT IS AN ORDER LADY
Trace, glad things are getting better for you -

faylisa · 26/09/2007 20:05

Bumper - the NCT breastfeeding helpline is open until 10pm - 0870 444 8708 - maybe you could give them a call while DH is home and you can talk properly without a screaming DD (faylisa speaks from experience of trying and failing to make phone calls!)

loonylovegood · 26/09/2007 20:10

Keep going bumper, you are doing really well. It didn't click into place for me with my dd until she was about 4 months. I had to use shields for that long because of the pain. One day it just felt 100% better and we never looked back! It will get better. I know I keep saying that, but it will!

Glad you had a good massae derlor, sounds fabby!

Trace, chloe sounds like she is doing well. I'm sure the weight thing is just due to her being poorly, but it is just another thing for you to worry about. You poor thing, really hope it gets better soon xxx

bumper....did a quick google for you and found this on ivillage. It suggests that over active thyroid = lots of milk, and that overactive stage if it's pregnancy realted lasts around three months. Is it possible that your thyroid is correcting itself or going the other way and your supply has dropped as a result? Are you being checked regularly?

Anyway, there a few more bits and pieces on good old Kellymom

daisyandbabybootoo · 26/09/2007 20:17

and i second holly....things are oodles better for babyboo and me this week and she waas 16 weeks yesterday. Hang in there a few more weeks!

We've had the nightly bedtime horror here. babyboo always kicks off when I'm trying to sort DS out for bed. She won't wait much after seven for a feed and he won't go to bed any earlier. I end up with DD screaming for milk, DS screaming "its not fair, emily always gets to stay up later then me, it's not fair" and me just screaming...aaaaaaaarrrrrrrggggggghhhhhh.

I can't let him stay up till after babyboo goes down or else she gets too distracted, I get even crosser as he demands more attention and she doesn't feed well at all.

I miss my DH < whispers....but don't tell him or he'll only want filthy muckment in the bedroom department>

loonylovegood · 26/09/2007 20:22

ROFL at the "filthy muckment"!

I'm sure ds will get used to it, but it must be really hard without some support {{{hugs}}}!

bumperlicious · 26/09/2007 20:26

Daisy, could you feed her progressively later in the day so she will wait a little longer or does that not make a difference?

On kellymon it says that hyperthyroidism in animals has been seen to affect let-down , I wonder if my let down is slow and DD is getting impatient.

Going to the dr tomorrow about it anyway. Apparently my levels are down but not back to normal. The dr wants me to go and talk to some students as a teaching exercise - I'm obviously an oddity!

Derlor I consider myself told! Am I allowed out to get some chocolate?

derlor · 26/09/2007 20:32

you can stock up on chocolate tomorrow when you go out to the doctors - then straight home lady!!! [bossy biatch emoticon!!]
holly did you see my recent post about my DH's charity bike ride in Southampton on friday??

daisyandbabybootoo · 26/09/2007 20:33

she's a funny little onion bumper....her feeding through the day is a moveable feast, but brekkie is usually 7am sharp and supper 7pm. She can feed at 4 or feed at 6, but is still screaming for it at 7!

I'm sure if you start a thread on hyperthyroidism and BF, someone will have some experience.

holly....it's at this time of day that the thought of having to go back to work fills me with cold dread

loonylovegood · 26/09/2007 20:34

No derlor, I didn't...wow your dh in sunny soton! Where does it start and finish?

OP posts:
loonylovegood · 26/09/2007 20:36

Funny little onion...that's so sweet! She doesn't smell like one I hope!

I hate between 6 & 8, the worst time in the day. Dp is always stressy as well as the kids! Drives me mad!

Daisy, i sympathise, DH used to work 2 weeks on 2 weeks off up until last year and i remember how difficult things could be on your own with 2 i have to admit i used TV to amuse my DS while i bedded DD,(would let him watch a dvd in my bed for a treat in the evenings or i used to let him guddle about in a shallow bath while i fed and bedded her in the next room - i could hear him very well (we live in a cardboard Wimpy house ) lego and jigsaws were also a good diversion in out house cause he would play happily alone with these.
However some nights it just was chaos, VERY stressful, you have to just do the best you can you are only 1 person with 1 pair of hands so don't be hard on yourself.

daisyandbabybootoo · 26/09/2007 20:59

she did tonight holly.....she had armpit cheese
all gone and smmmelling of lavender now though [smmile]

bummmper, send DH out for the chocolate

derlor · 26/09/2007 21:00

daisyandbabybootoo · 26/09/2007 21:00

...actually just fished a bit of apple out from under the m key!

derlor · 26/09/2007 21:01

LOL at armpit cheese Dasiy!! my DD gets neck cheese!

trendaverter · 26/09/2007 21:05

Holly what do you mean I am not superwoman?
pppfffhhhhh
I earn more than dh, give birth, look after DS, cook stroganoff, commute, do laundry, sell stuff on ebay and do photography on the side.
But sometimes I think I am losing the plot

trendaverter · 26/09/2007 21:05

is £50 a week for a cleaner good?
For that they do the ironing as well

daisyandbabybootoo · 26/09/2007 21:06

we get nek cheese and behind the ear cheese too

I had to put canesten undeer her chin yesterday. It is OK to use on babies isn't it?

trendaverter · 26/09/2007 21:06

my DR prescribed it for DS so I guess so

faylisa · 26/09/2007 21:10

TA - it depends on how long you need - I pay £8.30/hr for my cleaner - £25 for 3 hours, which includes ironing

riabutterflew · 26/09/2007 21:10

you are not superwoman ta...

you are wonderwoman

how many hours is the cleaner for?

trendaverter · 26/09/2007 21:11

ok my house is only tiny and it's pretty clean anyhow so £50 would be too much then

trendaverter · 26/09/2007 21:12

I'll get some quotes tomorrow. it only needs a quick once over once a week, I am happy to carry on doing most of it myself - just want it dusted, hoovered and the bathroom done, I have time for the rest. And ironing, I hate that!
