I am such a wimp! DD made nappy filling noises, so I made use of having DH working at home today and told him it was his turn. But when I heard "ew, it's leaked out of the nappy, help" I went running, and ended up doing it for him. God, I'm pathetic, I can't even stand back and enjoying laughing at DH coping with a mere 5/10 grade nappy.

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 26/09/2007 13:08

They look lovely too daisy!

Right I'm going to another one of my utterly useless 'Baby matters' class run my our local HV and nursery nurse......

Last week they showed us a video about controlled crying and inferred that we should all be doing it and it is the ONLY wasy to get a baby to settle and go to sleep on there own. I kicked off and got a frosty response! I might see if I can get thrown out this week!!! LOL!

justbeme · 26/09/2007 13:11

My DP does that as well Jamantha (well he's possibly only changed 7 nappies so far).

After our Dog walk, I put L out in her pram in the garden "a la cruella de ville" - whilst i hung out the washing - and she was under a tree which she so loves to watch - well , then I decided to do some MN catchup back inside. After a few mins she started crying but I left her for a few mins (arent I horrible!) and then went to her - Her nappy had leaked up her front (wee) - I felt terrible!! So imagine if you did as CV said - they could be sitting in their own poo/leaky nappy for hours!

BadZelda · 26/09/2007 13:22

Whilst I'm not a fan of controlled crying, I think you're supposed to make sure they're not wet/dirty/hungry/cold before you try it. Luckily haven't had to resort to it so far with my two...now trying to teach DD1 about time out!

daisyandbabybootoo · 26/09/2007 13:24

as soon as my DH gets home, I go on nappy strike!

i know that my boobs are more self regulating now that DD is older, but they feel strangely empty today. anyone else got this?

off to see my psychiatrist....wish me luck.

BadZelda · 26/09/2007 13:34

Good luck Daisy...some days I think I need to see one too. Mum has kidnapped DD1 today, so having a chilled one for a change

justbeme · 26/09/2007 13:37

daisy apart from 1st thing in the morning - my boobs normally feel q empty! - dont know why

Jamantha · 26/09/2007 13:44

Boobs! Woken at 5am by DD this morning and boy did they hurt! And tshirt was so soaked down one side that I'm surprised there was any left for her. But rest of day they do tend to feel quite floppy.

bumperlicious · 26/09/2007 14:26

Morning all, replying as I catch up so apologies if this is disjointed.

Jamantha the HV told me to get saline nasal drops for DD as she is snuffly.

DG, sorry I can't lend you a copy of that prog, it's saved on our tv hard drive thingy. But it's four parts so you can watch the rest.

Got DD weighed, 11lb 13 at 14 weeks, still a tiddler and on 9th centile but following it perfectly. Had to wait a bloody hour though, there's a reason I never get her weighed!

There was a woman at the dr's who is weaning her 17 week old baby [non-judgemental emoticon]!

TA, really glad you get to come home a bit earlier. It's going to be a tough few weeks adjusting to the change and you are going to be knackered so make sure you cut yourself some slack!

Ok, still catching up...

trendaverter · 26/09/2007 14:34

Well done Daisy!

Does WW really work??
I have been put off trying it because of the cost

bumperlicious · 26/09/2007 14:36

ooh, and feeling inspired by those games BZ posted yesterday I'm going to make finger puppets later. And if DD isn't too cranky later we are going to make modern art with footprints!

andiem · 26/09/2007 14:50

hi everyone back from ikea big confession bought xmas stuff but it was luvverley and if you don't get it quick in ikea it all goes so now have wrapping ribbon and some decorations

got lo weighed and he is still on 91st centile but for some reason the nursery nurse decided to give me a little lecture about how if he dropped down 2 centiles we would need to think about doing something dear...... well after I restrained myself from bitch slapping her(excessive I know) I smiled sweetly and said yes well he will probably start dropping as this is not a bf only chart she just looked at me as though I was mad

also guys have come to big decision am not going back to work am going to be sahm for a bit. cos my job was organised away it has all changed and once I account for childcare costs for the 2 of them and train fares etc etc I would be left with about £400 so it just doesn't seem worth it I am going to be a kept woman
am not going to tell work till after xmas though

must go long ramble from me need to do school pick up

Jamantha · 26/09/2007 15:10

bumper - re weaning a 17 week old, my HV told me that when her son was 17 weeks old (he's now in his 20s) she went out for the afternoon, leaving him with her husband for the first time. She got back and was told the baby had been really hungry, so dad had got a fairy cake out of the cupboard, picked off tiny bits and fed them to the baby!

trendaverter · 26/09/2007 15:15

oh that's really funny

trendaverter · 26/09/2007 15:20

I can see my dh doing that
he put a nappy on the other day, confused as to why it leaked everywhere... he hadn't put an insert in it

riabutterflew · 26/09/2007 15:21

lol J.

baggins is 13lb1oz at 14 weeks.he has dropped below 25th centile, but I aren't worried just now, ask me again next time he has an unsettled feeding frenzy! my boobs only feel full 1st thing, the rest of the day they feel fairly empty.

I have to make a Drs appt to get ADs

trendaverter · 26/09/2007 16:21

I have decided to get a cleaner in
one less thing to do...and gives me more time with my boys

foxybrown · 26/09/2007 16:35

a very wise decision TA!

Andiem - oh oh oh, which Ikea??? Need Christmas things, anything, lights, wrapping, I could go on Monday

BadZelda · 26/09/2007 16:42

TA I hear you....DH sacked my cleaner whilst he was looking after DD1 and I was working to save up for Mat leave She was really good and is now too busy to come back - so I'll have to try and find another one. My house is filthy!

Jamantha · 26/09/2007 16:50

SMUG ALERT
I think I may be getting the hang of this So far today every time she's cried, I've been right first time about whether she's hungry, wet, bored or tired. I think this is a first though, I normally have some head scratching each day about what's wrong this time.

foxybrown · 26/09/2007 16:52

Double BZ, hope he is making up for it by being a Domestic God (now, there's a term you never hear banded about - wonder why?).

Right, lo crying, DCs trashing living room, tea ready - head down and into battle

Tea, bath and bed - chhhaaaaaaaaaarge!

foxybrown · 26/09/2007 16:54

Yay Jamantha! Be very proud of yourself!

BadZelda · 26/09/2007 17:01

Well no...he's gone back to work fulltime now, and struggles to understand how I don't get time to clean the house when I'm looking after both LO's fulltime (I arranged two days off a week for him when he was looking after DD1). Grumpy, me? Anyway...anyone know a good cleaner who will come to Brixton?

loonylovegood · 26/09/2007 17:03

Bloody continuum concept! My ds has just sicked right down my cleavage and all over the sling! It's gonna take me fucking ages to take this bloody thing off to clean myself up! They don't think about these thing do they?

Good decision about the cleaner TA. You are not super woman. Now you will be able to relax at home with ds instead of cleaning.
