aw TA . I know it's hard, I didn't know what had hit me when i went back to work after having DS, but it will get easier.....try not to overstretch yourself though where the house is concerned, at least until you and DS get into a decnt routine. I found preparing meals in advance was good, and used to have a cooking session at weekends when DS was in bed, so it was just straight in the microwave when we got home.

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 26/09/2007 09:34

Mornin TA!

Sounds like you've got a plan! Suppose it's hard to know how it will all work out until you actually start doing it!
What was it like dropping him off at nursery? I've got all this to come in December which isn't that far away really! Is it nice to be using your brain in a different way? Did you get a propper lunch break - did you wolf down your lunch anyway in anticipation of a screaming baby?

trendaverter · 26/09/2007 09:37

I don't mind the work and I don't mind doing all the housework, it was just the 4 hour commute

So if I leave an hour early I miss most of it and get home at a reasonable hour.

TBH I said to dh if they didn't agree I would just do a few more weeks to top up the coffers then leave anyway, I can't work somewhere that won't help me out, it's not like I am taking the piss.

daisyandbabybootoo · 26/09/2007 09:43

You can always look for something closer. And, as freelance, can you set your own hours from the offset, tell them you can only do, say, 5 hours a day?
LOL at the wolfing of the lunch reardless dkma.

thankfully i don't have to think about work till after christmas....although i can't see me managing to hold down a full time job and look after two dcs with different routines on my own and still hold on to my sanity. I'm barely coping as it is

trendaverter · 26/09/2007 09:43

lol DKMA

dropping him off at shildcare was fine, but packing his bag the night before gave me the wobbles!
In many ways it's nice to be 'me' again and not 'mum' but I like being mum too so no complaints... but what IS great is being a bit selfish, having cups of tea, going to the loo....ahhh....all the while knowing that DS is giving someone else a hard time.

Don't get me wrong, love and miss him terribly, but I don't have rose coloured glasses DS can be a right grizzly miserable bastard!

Jamantha · 26/09/2007 09:44

4 hour commute! Hope that's total, not each way?

daisyandbabybootoo · 26/09/2007 09:44

do i go to WW? haven't done that great really and am embarrased about my lack of progress.

trendaverter · 26/09/2007 09:45

shildcare?
stupid keyboards at work

trendaverter · 26/09/2007 09:46

2 hours each way - live in reading, work just outside heathrow (so lots of crappy traffic)

trendaverter · 26/09/2007 09:47

Daisy can you just get childminder to take both of them, drop DS off at school and carry on with DD?

Jamantha · 26/09/2007 09:48

I realised that if I'm going to start work end of Jan (as is the plan), but want to use the holiday I didn't take before having DD (as was the plan before spontaneous early delivery), that'll mean officially going back beginning Jan (10 days leave will give 4 weeks hol when I return part time), and then have to give 8 weeks' notice, that means making a decision by end of Oct - eek! (And sorry for mega long sentance)

trendaverter · 26/09/2007 09:50

alternatively - we could all get preggers again!!
see, a silver lining...

Not amazing DG...let's just say if I won the lottery I would not be here!
Not a choice I have

BadZelda · 26/09/2007 10:10

MHC - you're mad, mad I tell you!
TA - what was DH doing whilst you were doing all the cleaning and cooking and minding baby? F* men!

BadZelda · 26/09/2007 10:14

Actually I'm kind of looking forward to jan...to some extent. Though I will only be PT...5 days a week with a toddler is HARD work

foxybrown · 26/09/2007 10:20

Go Daisy, go, go, go...

Cos I can't be arsed to go to my weigh-in either! Its too early to start wimping out, isn't it?

foxybrown · 26/09/2007 10:20

and you have to pay anyway

daisyandbabybootoo · 26/09/2007 10:21

i'm trying to go faxy....dd has other ideas and has been clamped on since 9:50. weigh in finishes in 10 mins!

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 26/09/2007 10:22

I'm looking forward to going back to work!

There..... I've said it!!!!!

I will miss my little fella - there is no doubt about that!

However - It's easier being at work!!! This is hard work!

I know that I will enjoy him more when we spend time together.

I miss the banter I have with my workmates, and having a piss in peace!!!!!

I've found a brill nursery - so I will relax when he's there - and they'll prob do a better job of stimulating him than me

trendaverter · 26/09/2007 10:22

BZ I don't remember what DH was doing

how odd

trendaverter · 26/09/2007 10:27

DKMA I agree!

However the change in DS's routine meant that he was pure evil when we got him home. Hopefully this will change otherwise staying at home is easier!

I do miss him but I was also feeling guilty that I spent money but didn't earn it and I decided that I needed to go back to work!
Partly because I should financially - partly want. I maintain that working is easier than raising kids. Childminders deserve more than £35 per day! (I hope mine doesn't read that though)

loonylovegood · 26/09/2007 10:37

I can't afford to go back to work! Childcare is more than I would earn! I sometimes wish I could though, I do crave an adult convo once in a while!

I have just thought of an idea that could make me a millionaire! I am on the patent office website to see if anyone else has thought of it!

Isn't Fern thin?
