hi foxy!

i'm excited about christmas. i have to confess to having started thinking about preents, but i haven't bought any ... yet. i aren't as excited as i was though, now i know my sister won't be here. we were hoping to have lo's christening while she was here.

aibu to not want to have a big party after los christening service? we had a party at home for ds2, but it was a lovely autumn day so the kids played outside. this time there would be 10 kids and i just can't face having them crawling all over my house. i had thought it would just be nice to go off to soft play afterwards for our kids. i can tell people in advance and say they can join us if they want to. wwhat do you all think? there is nowhere local and we don't know enough people to have a "do" somewhere. i know it seems a bit harsh but my family won't be bothered so long as they can come to church cos DM thinks i have enough to cope without entertaining, and dhs family are V unreliable (fil spent ds2s party at kwik fit & bil+sil had fallen out with other bil so thet went out for the day and tried to pursuade mil to go with them istead, but of course no-one told us).

sorry, rant over

daisyandbabybootoo · 24/09/2007 13:15

GO EAT dg.....it won't help things if you have low blood sugar levels. That always makes me really irritable.

I can't believe it....after a 20 min snooze and a 40 minute play, DD is back on thr boob again.

I don't know where she's putting it all.

Hi foxy....are you off to Lapland then?

Jamantha · 24/09/2007 13:16

Ok, am back, having swapped Medised for Karvol (and got some money back )

Am mildly excited about Xmas. Have seen that lapland place and hope it's still running in a few years when DD will be old enough to appreciate it. DH says it looks like commercial tat, but he inherited the bah-humbug gene. I've got the Xmas gene though, so I hope dD inherited that from me. We normally work to a rota about who we have Christmas with (just us, my family or his family) and this year it's just us. We're sticking to it this year and families all seem OK, but I suspect that in a year or two some jiggery-pokery might have to take place so that all the GPs can see DD at (or near) Xmas, which sounds like a mad nightmare as they live nowhere near each other, or us! Ah well, face that when it happens.

Hi Daisy, not quite Lapland, Kent actually!

Ria, I'm with you there, with 3 winter babies I have to bite the bullet and have their birthday parties at home (usually through gritted teeth admittedly). Would much rather have a do elsewhere really.

daisyandbabybootoo · 24/09/2007 13:27

I'm of the bah humbug school of thought jamantha, but less so since DS was born. It is lovely watching his excitement.

We usually have a quandry as I like to see my family, but since my mum moved house there is no-where for us to stay. we kipped on her living room floor last year for New Year and it was a real faff. and she's not really well enough to travel down here.

Dhs family are close (as in close by, LOL), but are a bit odd.....we were lucky to see my PILs at all last year. They went to DHs brother, along with his wifes parents and her sister, but there was no invitation forthcoming for us . they dropped to see us for about an hour...well to see DS really. They've gone out for dinner a few times and we went one year but DS was at that really awkward stage and it was a bloody nightmare. we had to wait aaaages for the food, and long waits and small children just don't go.

We entertained friends last year, so hopefully they will reiprocate this year!

foxybrown · 24/09/2007 13:28

DG, I don't blame you, insulting your DD to defend his parents, would get my back up too.

foxybrown · 24/09/2007 13:35

Funny isn't it, just how much more productive I was and how much more time I spent with my children when my internet wasn't working?

Must bugger off and do something. Anything!

daisyandbabybootoo · 24/09/2007 13:41

DG...it would annoy me as well.

You must be looking forward to his parents going home again!

LOL Foxy, I didn't look at the link properly and thought you were jetting off to Lapland.

DD is really fretful now. She doesn't want food, she's been winded, her nappy is fine, she's neither too hot nor too cold, she's wriggling to get out of my arms when I pick her up, but screaming at me if she is in her chair.

I'm out of ideas here!

Jamantha · 24/09/2007 13:45

Daisy, I admit that even my Xmas gene ran out one year. I was making cards and got fed up writing the same old stuff by the end, so one (very good) friend had a card that had a glitter "Bah Humbug!" on the front and the internal message "Wishing you a shit Xmas and a crappy New Year" Thankfully he saw the funny side of it.

daisyandbabybootoo · 24/09/2007 14:03

chrlotte church has called her dd ruby.....aw lovely

loonylovegood · 24/09/2007 14:09

I love Charlotte Church! She is so cool and I love how she had the baby at home with mw! I bet she is gonna give bfing a real go too and not do the sleb being skinny 2 secs after giving birth thing!

riabutterflew · 24/09/2007 14:11

lol jamantha.

for you dg. bloody pia pils.

i think there is something in the water over your way daisy - that is how "close" dhs family are.

so, it is almost officia. the hospital physio has confirmed the almost impossibility of dh being able to work as a chef to the extent he was. he can be referred to an occupational therapist if he wants. so it looks like he's doing the right thing looking elsewhere. i hope the person who has kept the job open for him isn't too pissed off.

ds2 is in bed asleep after announcing he hates home baking and having a temper tantrum. ds1 went meekly back to school, i think he regrets his decision (and of course i feel to blame).he is in a year 5 class doing yr5 work as they don't seem to have left him any.FFS. am working on dh to go and see the head to get some work to do at home for the rest of the week as the other person left behind isn't in school.

ARSE

riabutterflew · 24/09/2007 14:13

i didn't know she was due yet. time flies. i like ruby too. wish it was me...

daisyandbabybootoo · 24/09/2007 14:18

it's cos it's yorkshire ria...they're too hard round here!

holly, she had a full medical team and private abulance on stand-by, LOL, but at least she was prepared to try, unlike lots of slebs.

dd is now sleeping fitfully on my chest. whenever i try to move her she lets out a plaintive wail...she must be spoiling for something.

I like the sound of that Christmas card Jamantha

Ooh, we're also getting excited about Christmas here. We were going to go away somewhere but got invited to some friends - it will be just the 2 of them and the 5 of us (don't think they know what they are getting themselves in for ).

DS1's birthday party this weekend. We've hired a place nearby and have a bouncy castle and a face painter. Not sure what the kids are going to do

annobal · 24/09/2007 14:47

DG - are you serious? PIL got upset over that???

My parents are coming on Weds from oz. They're staying for 4 weeks. Am I mad???

Jamantha · 24/09/2007 14:48

at you ILs, DG

sputnik · 24/09/2007 14:49

Well I'm back from my hols, had a great time.

Today hasn't been too great though, I ran over my dog coming home, he got stuck under the car and I had to jack it up for him to get out. Thought it was curtains for him but he seems to be just limping a bit , which he was doing before anyway. He is indestructable.

With all the drama I left the lights of the car on (there is a law here you have to use headlights all day) and the car battery is now completely flat.

Just read about your DH Ria, that is shit. Hope you can sort something out, is he entitled to any benefits for the time being, retraining etc? It must be really hard for you.
