Still waiting for my little man to arrive but starting a thread ready. Can't wait to catch up with all the other May 20 mums.

Huge congratulations to those who have already met their little ones. It's been quite a scary time to face giving birth recently and you've all done amazingly.

My grandmother told me she stopped breastfeeding all her children at 3 months and started weaning them around 13/14 weeks! I follow a few sleep consultants, baby nutrition ‘experts’ on insta and they all have strong and different opinions on weaning. Some are absolutely against doing it before 6 months and others that say as soon as they lose the tongue thrust, can sit up unaided and take an interest in food then you can start 🤷‍♀️ I haven’t been given any NHS advice and my little one is 16 weeks this week. Health visitor said she’ll call again when she’s 6 months so maybe they’ll discuss it then?

My baby is so uninterested in peek a boo 😂 she giggles quite a lot though which melts my heart!

Has anyone taught their babies to sign? Is it a waste of time or helpful? X

Caspianberg · 24/08/2020 16:50

@AlmostAlwyn- same here with usual 5-7 day stay in hospital. I was saved from this by Covid! One perk I suppose. Only had to do 2 nights and that was because he was born 4pm.

Haven’t even considered signing. God I probably should have bought a baby book, I’m totally winging everything or relying on google to answer my daft questions

november90 · 24/08/2020 19:13

So regarding weaning I was told that you should do your best to wait u TIL 6 months as there digestive system is more natural at that age and can tolerate food. Apparently I'm they can have food from 4 months but to avoid where possible. I don't know the science behind it all but I think I'm going to wait until 6 months. My first really didn't take to weaning until he was about 9 months so I think it can be very baby led! ❤️

Raindancer411 · 24/08/2020 22:36

I tried the baby sign with my first and the only sign we really learnt was milk, so he could say when he wanted it.

Have just been doing milk with to my daughter but she is only 13 weeks so early. She seems to know what the word and sign means though lol

Rebecca612 · 24/08/2020 23:03

Ooo interesting @Raindancer411 how long did it take your first baby to learn the sign for milk? My little one is nearly 16 weeks old but I might try it out, can’t hurt I suppose can it!

Raindancer411 · 25/08/2020 07:47

@Rebecca612 I think it took a few weeks but some pick it up quicker. I cannot remember what age it's recommended from though as it was 8 years ago 😂

november90 · 25/08/2020 08:40

I keep forgetting to do the milk sign but I reeeaaaallly want to do this! I've seen babies ask for feeds with the milk sign before, it looked so cool and such a good way to understand their needs!

Hi everyone hope you and babies are getting on well! My little one is really nosey at our meal times and loves watching us eat so instead of him sat in bouncer in table I wanted to get him a high chair that will do from now (almost 13 weeks) until he no longer needs one - any suggestions on a good one with plenty support? There are so many to choose from?

november90 · 25/08/2020 18:51

Everyone rave about the basic ikea one which you find in most cafes! My sister had it and I must admit I did regret not getting the same as it was a lot cheaper and both babies seemed really happy and safe in it!
The only downside is that it doesn't fold away. Folding away high chair was a game changer for us! I got mine from mamas and papas and my son was always really support and happy in it! The only downside was the chair cover stained SO easily and I kept having to replace it!

Delbelleber · 26/08/2020 11:55

Does anyone know what that little bubble on lo gum is? Is it normal? Thanks

@Delbelleber oh I'm not too such! Could it be a little blister from feeding? Is it tough? You can see the faint outline of the top two teeth there 😍

Raindancer411 · 26/08/2020 14:19

Wondering if it's where the tooth trying to come in x

Delbelleber · 26/08/2020 14:26

I googled it. I think it's an epstein pearl Hmm

Caspianberg · 28/08/2020 14:23

A question about safe sleeping. I have read they should always sleep on their backs, but since ds started rolling a few weeks ago, I am now finding him often on his front overnight. Do I have to keep turning him back? Should I be worried safety wise?

Hiding101 · 28/08/2020 17:03

I think the concern is they don't have the neck strength to get out of suffocating in the mattress. If your ds can roll at ease he should be OK but if it's still a struggle for him it could be potentially dangerous.

Delbelleber · 28/08/2020 17:06

Total name change fail there. Grin

Rebecca612 · 28/08/2020 17:27

I’ve just seen that a thread has been started called ‘Due May 2021’ that makes me feel like time is whizzing by so quickly’ my LO is now 16 weeks old and we’re starting to look at nurseries for when she’s 9 months old but it’s making me so emotional!

I hope you and all your babies are well ❤️

Caspianberg · 29/08/2020 10:03

@Delbelleber - he can roll easily from back to front but rolls constantly then gets annoyed if he can’t roll back easily.

Delbelleber · 29/08/2020 12:09

If he can't yet roll back easily I'd put him on his back. I let my lo sleep on his side.

Caspianberg · 29/08/2020 15:46

@Delbelleber - oh I do put him down on his back, but like I said he just rolls instantly. Sometimes he goes to sleep fine on his back, then for example I wake in the middle of the night to check him and he’s on his front again.. but I can’t stay awake 24/7 turning him over

Lifesforlivingandloving · 29/08/2020 16:57

Hey guys! Just found this thread x how are we all?? Xxx

Emmacb82 · 01/09/2020 12:48

Hey everyone hope you’re all getting on ok. How long do your babies nap for in the day? It’s become a fighting battle every day in my house and I hate it. I’m currently sitting here listening to him scream as he won’t sleep. I’ve tried everything, he’s not my first so I’ve done all the usual things. He will wake up at 06:00 and will not sleep again until he goes down at 19:00. It’s torture and he’s miserable where he’s so tired. It’s draining me and making me feel so sad that I can’t help my own baby.

May2311 · 01/09/2020 14:01

@Emmacb82 Hey! Mine doesn't nap loads she usually "cat naps". Wakes at 7am-30min nap approx 9.30 and then 12.30/1- 1hour and then another 30 min at about 4pm. Try Nanny Louenna routine- it really helped me get my LO to do some sort of nap- I tend to only have her napping in her cot for her dinner nap. The rest are either in pram or car seat on the go. How does he sleep at night?

Delbelleber · 01/09/2020 23:31

Hey guys. My poor little baby has a cold 😭 he's been good spirited as normal but his little nose is all snuffly and heavy eyes and a little cough. Such a ween shame for him!

november90 · 02/09/2020 19:37

@Delbelleber were the same in our house! My eldest came home with a stuffy nose and now M is sneezing and my nose is runny! I hate it when they're poorly, but I also hate feeling like I need to tell everyone I sniffle last that I have no temp or loss of smel etc etc 🤦🏼‍♀️

@Emmacb82 omg that sounds SO tough! A full day without any naps would send me insane! M probably naps 3 times a day for about 30 mins each time. He doesn't sleep through either so we're not doing amazingly! I typically feed him to sleep during the night as he's breast feed but during the day it's a pram, car seat or rocking job! I do miss those newborn naps 🤦🏼‍♀️ Is it a new thing? I think we're definitely entering the 4 month sleep regression a little early!!

@Lifesforlivingandloving hello lovely! How have you been getting on :)
