Still waiting for my little man to arrive but starting a thread ready. Can't wait to catch up with all the other May 20 mums.

Huge congratulations to those who have already met their little ones. It's been quite a scary time to face giving birth recently and you've all done amazingly.

Ps- she was 14 weeks yesterday! Forgot that question! X

AlmostAlwyn · 10/08/2020 09:14

We're using size 3 nappies at 15 weeks (7.4kg). Not grabbing or reaching for things yet, though she might hold onto something you put in her hand and try to put it in her mouth.

@May2311 my first never grew out, only up! He's always been long and skinny so I struggle to get shop-bought trousers to fit him. Any with fake drawstrings are immediately out! I sew and when I make him trousers I use the age 4 length and the 6-12m waist! Grin

May2311 · 10/08/2020 09:58

@AlmostAlwyn 😂😂 it's a good job I'm not too bad at sewing! We are off for our first little family holiday today. The packing for 4 nights away with a LO is horrendous 🤣 I'm hoping it all fits in the car!!

Caspianberg · 10/08/2020 10:08

Hi all. It’s been toasty where we are also. Find the best way is keeping bedroom windows and curtains clothes all day, and then if the rest of the house is hot, he has been flopping out in the middle of our bed to nap mid afternoon as it’s luckily a few degrees cooler having been kept dark and the heat out. Sporting the ‘just nappy’ look as well.

We are using reusable nappies. But the ‘birth to potty’ size and he’s already on the full unpoppered biggest setting so no idea how they will last him until 2 years!

He is starting to grab toys. Likes those wooden ring type teethers as can grab well, and those soft comforter type toys. We bought a play arch for the bouncer and he pulls the middle toy off the Velcro a lot.

He’s starting to sit more with help. Had his first bath sat up rather than laid down last night. Might start introducing some bath toys soon

He’s 14 weeks

Raindancer411 · 12/08/2020 08:57

How's everyone's babies coping with the heat? My little girl is so sleepy most of the time.

Dogssox · 12/08/2020 09:07

O is OK in the heat although we possibly don't have it as hot as you. We had thunder and lightning ALL night last night. Never seen anything like it! I'm. Sweating already this morning but o was goosebumps on his changing mat so I've just dressed him in normal clothes.

november90 · 12/08/2020 10:16

We had our second set of jabs yesterday which probably wasn't a good idea with the heat 🤦🏼‍♀️ M actually somehow picked up rotavirus 3 weeks after his first lot of jabs (a sample was sent off) so the poor thing has pretty much had it constantly for like a month 🤦🏼‍♀️
Hope everyone is well! ❤️ How is Marley 3 months tomorrow??!

Rebecca612 · 12/08/2020 16:04

Little one is struggling a bit with the he bless her! Nice warm baths and stripped down to her nappy and she’s happy as Larry! It’s sooo hot here, feels like there’s no relief from it! Baba is starting to love her play gym and has realised that her hands are hers - she’s starting to become a little baby with a personality which is so nice to see - it’s also nice to be able to put her down and she can play with toys/entertain herself for 5 mins while I go to the loo/load the dishwasher!

I know @november90 I can’t believe my baba is 3 months old, going so quickly! See hope he’s on the mend bless him!

Caspianberg · 14/08/2020 11:42

Has anyone experience with baby refusing to feed?

Baby is almost 15 weeks, and the last week or so he has started screaming when I try and feed him. First I thought it was because it was super hot, then he had vaccines 2 days ago, but he is still doing it.

He feeds fine before bed and overnight (and has started waking more as he obviously isn't getting enough daytime). But he just arches his back as soon as I even attempt to feed.
I have tried feeding in dark quiet room which sometimes helps, but otherwise he will sometimes take a quick feed if he has just woken for a nap and is still half dozy.

Worried he will get dehydrated in the heat with taking so little, and I cant feed him in public as he is arching his back and screaming. He now refuses bottle as well so hasn't taken anything for about 2 weeks.

Rebecca612 · 14/08/2020 12:14

@Caspianberg yes we had this last week! I’m weaning off breastfeeding so put it down to that but I called the health visitor who came round to weigh her and thought she was fine and said it was probably just her getting over her injections. One day after the HV visit she picked up feeding and is pooing loads more. I wonder whether it’s a phase around this age? My LO has just turned 14 weeks.

I know how stressful it is but stick with it and he’ll get back to normal soon. If he’s still refusing it in a couple of days I was told to ring the doctor xx

May2311 · 14/08/2020 13:20

@Caspianberg- LO is 14 weeks nearly 15 and is the same! Faffing with her bottle, not drinking much and therefore more disturbed at night! Good to know others are going through it and must just be a phase. I've been feeding just little and often the last few days which she seems to accept better! Xx

Caspianberg · 14/08/2020 17:30

@May2311 @Rebecca612 - thank you.

After writing this he has typically fed much better so far today, a few arches back and screaming, but has actually had a few decent ish feeds.

november90 · 17/08/2020 06:22

Waaahhh I can't believe my baby is 3 months old! How is time flying so quickly!??!
He's absolutely dying to laugh but we're not quite there just yet!
His legs are so powerful and he's always kicking himself up into the top left hand corner of the crib 🙈 I don't think it'll be long until he rolls over!

Hope everyone is well and enjoying their babies 🤗❤️

Raindancer411 · 17/08/2020 06:27

My little gjrl is 12 weeks today and was weighing 12lb 4 last week. She has grown so much since birth, I want her to slow down!!

My son is due to go back to school soon and I am so worried for her (as well as him)

november90 · 17/08/2020 07:13

@Raindancer411 oh bless you. I know how you feel. My eldest is going back to nursery too shortly and my niece is a starting school. It is very worrying and I did wonder whether he should go back... but he's 1 year off school and he really needs the socialising and learning outside of our home. It's been really tough for the kiddies hasn't it :(

Has anyone been to any baby groups? Baby sensory is starting up again around me and I want to go but I'm scared! Scared of COVID but also just scared to be normal of that makes sense... I think this lockdown has had its effect on me too 🙈

Caspianberg · 17/08/2020 16:32

@november90 - not been to any groups yet, but they start up again here in September and I think I might start going. I don’t know any other parents or young children here so think it will be good for him.

Baby has been feeding almost hourly for the last two days now! Growth spurt?

november90 · 23/08/2020 19:13

So on my Timehop app on my phone, this time last year I was taking ovulation strips! Can't believe it's been nearly a year since I got that BFP!
How's everyone doing?
M is doing soo well. He's extremely dribbly atm and his two front lower tooth sockets are visible so we all know what this means!
I'm having a hard time with my ex. He is just making my life a complete misery and incredibly emotionally and finically abusive towards me. Anyone on Here with kiddies with ex's can tell me it gets better? :(
Anyway, not to focus on that because I'm so happy with these little boys! I hope the rest of the May babies and Mummy's are doing well ❤️

Rebecca612 · 23/08/2020 23:34

I know, it’s insane that a year ago I conceived little one! It’s insane how quickly time is going. Little one is constantly chewing on her hands/fingers so I’m sure the teeth aren’t far away! I’ll check for tooth sockets - never heard of that before! Dribble everywhere so starting to put bibs on her. She’s honestly the best thing that ever happened to us, I can’t believe I love a human as much as I love her.

That’s so shitty about your ex @november90 do you have family and friends supporting you? You’re right to focus on your beautiful boys though.

I’ve started thinking about when I go back to work and I’m dreading it - I wish I could work and lol after her at the same time haha! Is anyone taking their little ones to classes/groups yet? I haven’t but trying to take her out as much as poss and socially distanced picnics with friends.

Starting to plan for Christmas now - I’m getting so excited for her first Christmas! X

Caspianberg · 24/08/2020 07:15

Time is flying here. He is becoming a proper little character.

Sleeping has gone to pot, he seems hungry all the time. I can feed him, then 30 mins later he’s upset and starts feeding again like he hasn’t been fed for a week!

Oh well. We bought a highchair as well, so that should be delivered in the next week or so. Can’t believe they will start eat food in the next 2 months.

@november90 - sorry to hear your ex is still causing distress. It must be upsetting for you.

Took him out for the first proper whole day outing yesterday . Ds slept through most of it completely uninterested 😂

AlmostAlwyn · 24/08/2020 09:20

Doing well here too! Also, chomping on her fists all the time - I think I can feel a little corner of something on her lower gum so I'm sure teeth are not far away! Starting to laugh here too - I was playing peekaboo with her the other day and she laughed and gave herself a hiccupping fit!

My parents came to visit finally too and stayed for two weeks. It was great to have two extra pairs of hands and to have someone else run around after the toddler!

@november90 so sorry to hear you're still having a hard time with the ex! That must be so difficult when all you want to do is enjoy your time with your babies. You'd think he'd want the same... Hope you've got some family support Flowers

Raindancer411 · 24/08/2020 09:47

My first didn't get teeth until nearly 1 year old!! I think this one won't follow suit the way she is dribbling and chomping on things. She is 13 weeks today!!

Caspianberg · 24/08/2020 10:54

Have to say, I am struggling with what’s right and when to start weaning tbh as well.

Baby like I said seems hungry all the time, and has been breastfed on demand so far. He demands lots!

I’m not in the Uk, and at his last vaccinations they spoke about weaning and asked what the standard is in the Uk. But here it’s 17weeks to start slowly, with most started 20 weeks latest. So when I said it’s more like 6 months in the uk and also mentioned he feeds lots atm their advice was well he will need to start solids soon. I won’t be starting at 17 weeks as he is already 16+ weeks and I don’t think he is ready yet, but it’s confusing. Like most baby advice I guess. Anyone with older children, what did you do?

He is sitting with help but still wobbly and I think still has tongue thrust, he can pick up things and put to mouth.

AlmostAlwyn · 24/08/2020 12:35

@Caspianberg my pediatrician also said I could slowly start with weaning and gave me a leaflet (from Nestle Hmm) when my first was around 4 months. I waited till 6 months anyway then started baby led weaning. We just gave him bits of whatever we were having. We never did specific purees or baby rice or anything like that.

Baby might seem hungry, but your milk is absolutely everything he needs right now. He might just be thirsty and drinking more because it's so hot at the moment. Your milk will be more watery in hot weather to quench thirst.

Caspianberg · 24/08/2020 13:17

@AlmostAlwyn - yes we got a leaflet also ( not nestle), which had complicated guidelines about what food to start every month until they were 1 year, and 101 things to avoid. I don’t think BLW is really a thing here, hipp baby even sent us some carrot purée in the post last week..
I know my milk is enough I guess, it’s just tricky when all the ‘professionals’ make me doubt myself.

AlmostAlwyn · 24/08/2020 14:42

@Caspianberg definitely easy for the doctors to make you doubt yourself! But at the same time, I think their training in breastfeeding is minimal...

My pediatrician is also quite "old school". People generally stay in hospital 3-5 days after (a normal) birth here so when I told her I was planning to leave right after she was quite negative about it!
