Still waiting for my little man to arrive but starting a thread ready. Can't wait to catch up with all the other May 20 mums.

Huge congratulations to those who have already met their little ones. It's been quite a scary time to face giving birth recently and you've all done amazingly.

It’s definitely not easy! He’s never napped since he was a few weeks old so it’s nothing new here, just some days are easier to deal with than others! Nights are actually easier. Once he is down for the night he generally sleeps for about 4-5 hours, has a breastfeed and then goes back down for another 3-4 hours. If he didn’t sleep at night I would definitely not cope!

Big brother starts school next week. Looking forward to getting into my own little routine and having some time to spend with Noah without feeling like I’m neglecting the biggest one.

@Delbelleber and @november90 sorry to head that your bubba’s have the sniffles. Hopefully they will feel better soon x

Caspianberg · 03/09/2020 08:21

Sleep overnight is still terrible here, he wakes every 1-2 hrs. He is fed back to sleep most the time. I have tried Dh rocking him but I usually give in as if he wakes and I feed it’s a quick wake, 10 mins feed and he’s asleep.
Last night Dh tried rocking and pacing the floor with him after 3rd wake and he just screamed 20 mins until I ended up feeding again anyway.

Daytime naps are pretty good now, he is rocked to sleep in his pram most the time or in sling if out and will drift off in 5 mins. Naps 3-4 times per day. Probably rubbish that he has to be rocked but I haven’t the energy to alter right now whilst he is small.

november90 · 03/09/2020 19:53

@Caspianberg have you heard about the 3/4 month sleep regression? It is in full swing at our house 😰 hopefully yours will start to settle better after it's over 🤦🏼‍♀️ I always feed to sleep during the night and I did the same with my first! My guessing is they want to be awake just as much as we do at that time and just need the comfort! ❤️

Caspianberg · 04/09/2020 08:31

@november90 - yes, he is 18 weeks tomorrow, so right in the 4 month sleep regression stage. He woke at 11,1,4,5.30 last night, didn’t really go back to sleep after last feed.

I am trying to get him to take a bottle again as well, he has been taking it this last week, but only offer once per day and he only drinks max 2oz at a time over up to an hour trying.. then breastfeeds ‘starving’. Oh well, at least he is taking it semi ok I guess.

Lifesforlivingandloving · 04/09/2020 17:53

@november90
Hey hunni! We are good thank you. Can't below be where the time is going . Lennie is almost 5 months old (13th )!
Can't believe we will soon start weaning .

How are you and your little one ?
Have you got to any baby classes yet? It's been soooo tough in lockdown hasn't it ! I dunno how I've kept my sanity some days! X

november90 · 07/09/2020 13:30

@Caspianberg oh my goodness has he always been like this or worse just recently?
What is your normal bedtime routine of you have one yet?
That must be SO tough for you, what a strong mummy you are!!!

@Lifesforlivingandloving so glad you're doing well! We're really good thank you too. I've signed up to baby sensory and we start on Wednesday. I'm also going to go back to the gym this week! I just feel like I desperately need some normality! I'm falling into a routine of eaten rubbish and feeling it and almost 4 months PP I want to start feeling myself again :)

Caspianberg · 07/09/2020 14:22

@november90 - no he used to wake just 1-2 times, but been a terror the last couple of weeks. Last night he slept better but spent an hour at 3am rolling onto his front then face down stuck, so constantly having to turn him back.
Mil has arrived to stay a week, she suggests he shouldn’t be waking and he needs some custard and muller rice!!... ah in laws

november90 · 14/09/2020 19:21

Hi everyone how you all holding up during this never ending corona-era? I've been feeling really over whelmed by it recently... it's just hard to escape and accept missing out on so many baby moments!
Anyway I just wondered who is still using their pram carry cot? Despite M being a huge chubby giant he's still in his but he gets so flustered and I think it's because he can't see anyone or anything. I'm considering switching it to the seat but I'm too sad 🤦🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️ I remember my eldest was about 4 months too when I changed his! How fast is time flying!

AlmostAlwyn · 15/09/2020 07:12

@november90 it's flying isn't it! Is the seat parent facing? I think it's a bit of a shock to go from carry cot where you can see them all the time to facing away in the seat. It's much better for baby and for you to be able to see each other all the time!

Hope you're doing well otherwise! Brew

May2311 · 15/09/2020 07:50

@november90 I know time is going so quickly! I have changed Ada into her seat- so she now faces us and is much happier & has more space. We actually did it about 3 months because she is really long and had outgrown her carrycot! Hope everyone is doing well. Xx

Caspianberg · 15/09/2020 08:26

@november90 - he is still squeezed in his carrycot part here, but really is running out of space. I’m holding on as long as possible as he does nap in there well daytime and I figure the mattress is better when he was small. But I think we only have 1-2 more weeks max out of it.

Regarding Covid, we haven’t been too affected day to day here, but more restrictions bought in yesterday. I have a baby group that is still running I will start this week, and have started taking him swimming at a local small private pool with a neighbour and their baby for a change of scenery.
We live rural, and he now seems to like seeing the cows and goats on our walks out in the sling.
His sleep is awful still atm.

Is anyone’s baby really long and nowhere near what size they should be in baby clothes? I bought 6-9 months for him recently but they are already a squeeze length wise in sleepsuits. He seems to fit 9-12 dungarees perfectly! (He’s 4 1/2 months)

AlmostAlwyn · 15/09/2020 11:41

@Caspianberg I always found the sizing on sleepsuits ridiculous - they always grow out of feet before the arms are even the right length! Mine is 20 weeks now and in 6-9m but I can see the sleepsuits are not going to last long!

november90 · 15/09/2020 12:20

Omg yes with the clothing! Dungarees are the worst I find because if they have chunky legs they don't fasten well and the length is always ridiculous but they're sooo cute! We're still squeezing into 3-6 months here. To be honest he still don't really wear anything other then sleepsuits!

I'm glad to hear others are in the seat... it makes me feel a bit better 🙈 I might give it ago today and see how I feel 😂 I had my eldest facing me until he went into his stroller at about 1 and a half (he's also massive 😂).... I'm such a clingy mum!

Caspianberg · 15/09/2020 16:57

@november90 I measured him, and he is 71-72cm. His carrycot is only 75cm so swapped his seat over today after this thread. It still parent faces though. He seems to like it.

Caspianberg · 15/09/2020 17:09

@AlmostAlwyn - yes that’s what the 6-9 month sleepsuits are like here. I though they would be too big for ages, but he’s feet are almost hulk like out at the toes! Think I will buy the next sizes footless to give him a bit longer in them

Lifesforlivingandloving · 17/09/2020 02:40

@november90
Ohhh the gym sounds good ! I'm too scared to go atm coz of Covid but I've started walking lots , need to do something about my tummy tho ! It's starting to bother me
Hope baby sensory is good!
We went to baby yoga last week and next week we start baby sing and sign and also hart beeps, we went swimming last week too in a private pool , it's so nice to do normal things isn't it ?£ I feel we were trapped for so long x

Rebecca612 · 17/09/2020 07:57

Morning! Hope you’re all well. Ooo that’s made me want to take little one swimming now to try her out in the pool!

Is anyone going through the dreaded 4 month sleep issues?
Little one has gone from one wake up a night to super restless and having to be picked up and settled nearly every two hours! I’m knackered!

Is it short term or do we have to make changes to her routine?

woollycat · 17/09/2020 22:32

My daughter is 15 weeks now and already in 6-9m clothes! She pretty much skipped the 3-6m size.

Regarding carrycot vs seat - I thought you can only upgrade to the seat once baby can sit unaided or is this only the case for certain pushchairs?

We haven't been to any classes or activities, I actually don't eve know what's out there and what a 3.5 month old can / should be doing? Any suggestions? I live in London.

november90 · 18/09/2020 07:45

@woollycat ohh I'm not sure on that one! I did change my carrycot over (💔) and my son absolutely loves it! He stays in his pram for so much longer now and is so happy looking around! I think you know when they are ready to change over... they just get to a point where they want to interact! The good think about the pram seat vs the stroller is you can still tilt it backwards!

Anyone else here back in lockdown 😩😩😩

CharlieB93 · 18/09/2020 08:30

Hello all! It’s been so long since I’ve posted - what a whirlwind the last couple of months have been!

We are really worried at the moment - my little girl was obviously isolated for the first 8 weeks of her life (not being held or touched by anyone but me and OH). We have since started introducing grandparents, aunties etc and she is terrified l, she really sobs anytime anyone comes near her. I feel like I’ve messed her up forever and she’ll always be frightened of people ☹️ I have so much regret. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Raindancer411 · 19/09/2020 11:17

@CharlieB93 It maybe nothing you have done as of lockdown. Some babies just do not like to be help by others. My son was like it but no at 8yrs old he is a social butterfly.

woollycat · 21/09/2020 11:34

I am starting to worry about my daughter's weight. She started put at 3.76kg and now at 15.5 weeks she is 7.83kg. She has crossed two centile lines and is now in the >97% category. She is exclusively breastfed so I doubt she is getting too much. I sorry there's an underlying issue. Anyone with some experience?

AlmostAlwyn · 21/09/2020 23:22

@woollycat it's really easy to worry, but I really wouldn't! My baby is quite similar - at 4 months she was the same weight as my son was at 12 months! He never grew out, only up so she's a different shape entirely Grin

I'm sure once your baby gets on the move things will even out a bit Smile

november90 · 23/09/2020 20:41

4 month sleep regression.
I've been trying to put him to bed for 2 hours. Wake sun at 4/4:30 am every morning. Had 20 min nap since 1:30 this afternoon 😰😰😰

Roll on 5 months!!!

Rebecca612 · 23/09/2020 21:42

Currently going through something similar @november90 although I think we might be making some progress now.

She’s definitely teething but waking up nearly every hour once she gets to sleep in the evening. Not sure what else to do but keep persevering with the routine and hope it gets better! She’s okay with sleeping in the day it’s just keeping her in the cot at night!
