Still waiting for my little man to arrive but starting a thread ready. Can't wait to catch up with all the other May 20 mums.

Huge congratulations to those who have already met their little ones. It's been quite a scary time to face giving birth recently and you've all done amazingly.

I can't believe how quick the last 3 months have gone! Ada is 3 months tomorrow as well & I have been a little emotional over it today -she is doing so well- she really isn't a newborn anymore!

She has settled really well in her sleep routine and is so interactive now!!

@november90 sorry your having trouble with you ex! Just look at M and I am 100% sure he will cheer you up!

Hope everyone else is doing well! Xx

Caspianberg · 03/08/2020 09:46

He definitely feels like he isn't a newborn baby anymore. He is rolling over now, and sits and stands on us already ( with us holding him still obviously), but seems so strong compared to just a few weeks ago. He has also started sleeping through (10pm-8am) or just waking once which is amazing.

@november90 - sorry your ex is being an ass. Hats off to all the single parents out there, def a lot of work on your own

May2311 · 03/08/2020 10:04

Ada celebrated turning 3 months old by sleeping through the night! 7-7! Fingers crossed it wasn't just a one off 🤣 She has been ready to drop the night feed for a couple of weeks only taking 1-2oz so I'm thrilled but also an emotional mess 😂

@Caspianberg - strange question when he rolls over what does he do with his arm? Ada nearly rolls but gets stuck on her arm and gets frustrated as she doesn't know where to put it - I have tried helping her but i keep worrying I'm bending it the wrong way! Xx

Caspianberg · 03/08/2020 11:09

@May2311 - his arm still gets stuck. He seems to only be able to fully roll over from back to front on the left, so his left arm gets wedged underneath him when he is fully over.
He is then like an angry beached turtle stuck on his stomach! Not a full success yet I would say.

Delbelleber · 03/08/2020 13:21

Hey guys. Sounds like you're all doing well. @november90 my ex also thinks everything is about him and has made some annoying comments about o feeding all the time.
O is doing well. He's sort of made himself a bed time routine where he settles down about 9pm then sleeps 3 hours until feeding then another 3 hours but some point after that he starts feeding alot.
Still frequently feeding through the day but he can go a lot longer between feeds now. He's a lovely baby, very content and smiling all the time.

Emmacb82 · 03/08/2020 16:22

Hey everyone. I’m jealous of the sleeping through babies 🤣 we get a good stretch at the beginning of the night and then it’s very hit and miss. Noah did not enjoy the hot weather at all so I’m glad it’s cooler for a day or so. No rolling or acrobatics here yet, Noah was 3 months on the 30th July, can’t believe how quickly it’s gone. On the whole he’s a happy boy, but he’s still quite demanding with feeds etc. But I’m cherishing every moment as he will most probably be our last x

Caspianberg · 04/08/2020 09:19

@Emmacb82 - ours really doesn't like the heat either. We have had several days of 35 degrees here recently, and he really struggles to nap in the heat, and wants to feed all afternoon but then gets angry he is sweaty from being so close to me all the time.
He is sleeping pretty well, but still feeds constantly daytime to make up for it.

My parents already asking when we will give him solids, and convinced he is being starved as he eats constantly all day. But he is still 99% for height and weight, same as when born, so he must be getting what he needs surely.

Hi everyone, for those of you who are worried about the upcoming heatwave, I found a playmat on Amazon which looks really helpful! You fill it with water so it should hopefully help to keep baby cool in the warm weather:

All good here! Little one is now sleeping 10 hours at night - not sure how that happened but I’m making the most of it while it lasts! Had her 2nd set of injections yesterday and was so good.

My little one was in special care when she was born and they gave her a dummy - we’ve tried to make sure she isn’t dummy dependent but I’ve noticed her wanting it more. Does anyone have any tips to start to wean her off it now rather than later?

Raindancer411 · 05/08/2020 09:00

@Rebecca612 To be honest a dummy at night is one of the suggested ways to reduce the risk of sids. My little one will not take one as much as I want her too. My son had a dummy and he weaned off it no problem but know some others have issues. Maybe just use it in the night and hide away in day? Then she should get use to it just being a night thing?

I would prefer a dummy than her then using her hand like my little one. It's harder to break a habit of sucking a hand or thumb. Sorry not much help but just my thoughts xx

Rebecca612 · 05/08/2020 09:17

@Raindancer411 thanks 😊 I asked the doctor yesterday for amy advice and she said to let her chomp on her fist as it helps her development and ‘finding her hands’. 🤷‍♀️ The Dr also said dummies are fine until around 6 months then start weaning her off it, so maybe I just let her be for now 😂

I think I’m going to slowly reduce use in the day like you said.

Her reflux is so much better than before so that’s great, starting to form a loose routine as well so I’m hoping it sticks. I’ve been hearing that the 4 month sleep regression is either bloody awful or a myth - can anyone who have gone through it share their thoughts experiences? X

Raindancer411 · 05/08/2020 09:46

@Rebecca612 Sounds like a plan to me to try at 6 months.

As for the 4 month sleep regression, as I said the son wasn't that great at sleeping but this little one is. Looks like I may be learning a new thing soon 😂

Dogssox · 05/08/2020 17:31

Hey guys. I changed my name (delbelleber).
O had his second injections today. Has been mostly sleeping all day since. Wish I could get myself motivated to do some house work! He usually only sleep for 15min at a time during the day now so feel I should be taking advantage of this sleepy day!

Caspianberg · 07/08/2020 07:16

It seems little one has found his voice! My goodness, the high pitched squealing and shouting the last week is a combination of hilarious and hideous all at once.
He now squeals and squeals, then laughs at himself on repeat.
When do they start talking?

Raindancer411 · 07/08/2020 09:14

@Caspianberg Not for a while. My son was saying a few words at 18 months but he was always a bit behind others so will be different for each x

Dogssox · 07/08/2020 12:22

@Caspianberg when did he start laughing? So cute! We get lots of smilies but not turned in to a laugh yet. I thought he was going to laugh today so maybe soon!

Caspianberg · 07/08/2020 13:20

@Dogssox - he is 14 weeks tomorrow, and I guess has been laughing for about 2-3 weeks now. Usually when we flap a Muslin cloth over his face.

I assumed he wouldn’t start talking until 1+, but I do hope the squealing becomes babbling at least.

Anyone else’s babies also started feeding lots again? I don’t even know how many hours per day recently but it seems like it’s constant

Dogssox · 07/08/2020 13:29

Oh wow 14 weeks! O is 12 weeks. Where does the time go! I think the babbling is about 6 months. It's been so long since I had a baby though its hard to remember.
My older kids go back to school soon so that will be the end of our long lies. I'll hopefully be getting the little man settled earlier for bed time. Wee routine shake up for us!

Raindancer411 · 07/08/2020 22:06

Oh my, how are people keeping their babies cool

Emmacb82 · 07/08/2020 22:48

I’m hating the heat! Noah has been awake since 06:00 and has only just fallen asleep. He really struggles in the heat and has just screamed and screamed the poor little soul. Nothing would soothe him. I’m hoping he will now sleep for a while. We are sleeping downstairs tonight so rubbish sleep on the couch for me. Hope everyone else is ok!

AlmostAlwyn · 09/08/2020 14:44

Still not laughing here at 15 weeks! Perhaps I'm just not funny enough Grin she seems really close though!

My first started saying words at 11 months so babbling must have started before then though I don't remember when exactly! Smile

Dogssox · 09/08/2020 15:05

Are any babies grabbing at toys yet? O seemingly made a couple of attempts a few weeks ago but not really anything since. He always manages to grab people's hair and for the first time today grabbed his winky during nappy change.
Just wondering where other babies are at for grabbing or batting toys and other things of interest?

Dogssox · 10/08/2020 00:28

What size nappy is everyone using?

Dogssox · 10/08/2020 00:29

O is a 3

May2311 · 10/08/2020 07:13

My LO is grabbing toys that are light/not too big and is giggling ❤️ It's so funny seeing her growing & her personality. Size 2 nappies we are using- she is pretty petite but with long legs so I think I'm going to struggle as she gets older for clothes that fit correctly! X
