Still waiting for my little man to arrive but starting a thread ready. Can't wait to catch up with all the other May 20 mums.

Huge congratulations to those who have already met their little ones. It's been quite a scary time to face giving birth recently and you've all done amazingly.

@Rebecca612 thank you and thank god 🙈 we were up pretty much 11-3 last night and he's asking for about an extra 3 feeds a day! I'd say we're on day 3 now 😬 so glad your little lady has settled for you ❤️

Emmacb82 · 08/06/2020 15:24

Mine seems to have a permanent growth spurt 🙄 he’s 5 weeks now and was up every hour feeding last night and pretty unsettled today. But he’s now done a big poo as hadn’t been for 3 days and looks happier!

Anyone else having trouble buying baby clothes in the right sizes?

I'm not in the Uk, so no supermarket clothing, but have tried h and m, john lewis, m and s etc and very little luck with availability. Managed a small order from Zara, but even then just buy picking items in his size rather than ones i would have chosen. He's 5 weeks now, but really bursting out of his 0-3 month clothing. (his newborn, and 1 month lasted 2 mins)

We have some larger bits received as gifts, but ideally I am looking for 3-6 month. In short sleeve vests and sleepsuits mainly. Ideally multipacks as he is growing fast so don't really want to be spending £20+ per item (£20 for a pack of 3-5 is better). Need to be able to get mainland European delivery as well

Moongirl10 · 09/06/2020 12:10

I’m definitely struggling to find anything small enough for him. I didn’t buy a lot of newborn clothes but the 0-3 months is massive on him.

Does anyone have any suggestions for father’s day presents for their partner? This is our first baby and I’d love to get something special but it’s so hard with lockdown etc!

AlmostAlwyn · 09/06/2020 12:33

@Caspianberg have you tried Next? They've got an Austrian site as well so might be cheaper postage-wise. Are you looking for 62-68? They seem to have quite a lot of options for sleepsuits and vests Smile

Caspianberg · 09/06/2020 15:58

@AlmostAlwyn - I did try a few weeks ago and they had stopped all overseas deliveries due to Covid. However, on your reminder i have looked again and they seem to have resumed as usual. Excellent. They seem to only be out of stock on some things so i should be able to get some basics in easy enough. Thanks

@woollycat it's normal for a baby to latch then appear to be asleep but are still sucking the pause that the baby is doing is baby just catching their breath and learn how to pace there feeding and breathing. I'm currently on the special care baby unit as my baby was born at 31 weeks and is now 3 weeks old and latched for the first time today with the help of a breastfeeding specialist who explained all the pauses and ques and how to make sure baby is latch correctly xx

Morning. Does anyone have 'Diastasis Recti', the seperation of your stomach muscles? Midwife just checked mine and said its still at 3cm (baby 5 weeks). She seems to think this needs looking at so has refers me to a physiotherapist and a postnatal pilates course, both to start next week. She said its fairly common with large babies (he was 8lb8)

Delbelleber · 10/06/2020 10:28

@Courtney2020 lovely to hear you are both doing well and started feeding. Brought a wee tear to my eye!

november90 · 10/06/2020 11:06

Getting baby grows and vests in newborn/0-3 is so difficult isn't it!!! I've spent hours and hours searching for plain white vests 🙈 luckily I grabbed some in Sainsbury's the other day. The issue is how different sizes are in different places. I thought I was stocked up with some from Asda and I tried them on My baby and they were a bit snug so I looked at the label and they are up to 12lbs which is just ridiculous for a 0-3 fitting! Most places are up to 14lbs at least!! Anyone else get SO annoyed with sizes?!

@Caspianberg my stomach muscles also tore. Nobody has ever checked them since they told me. I still have a little random bulge on the upper part of my tummy though and I've read online that indicates it hasn't healed! I'm 4 weeks PP tomorrow!

Caspianberg · 10/06/2020 11:16

@november90 - looking online 3cm is ' should do exercises' territory, but hopefully not too bad. I have been told i shouldn't start the pilates until gynaecologist has given the go ahead after 8 week check.

M and s are 0-3 months and up to 12lb, and 62cm, my little boy is now 11lb 2, and 60cm, so hes really not going to fit them much longer. I did an order from Next, they had white vests in stock in anyone else is looking. Delivery times are 1-2 weeks, so I hope they arrive sooner.

Courtney2020 · 10/06/2020 14:20

Thanks @Delbelleber we still both have our up and down days but slowly getting there and doing our little steps to get him closer to home xx

helpasisterout · 10/06/2020 23:14

Anyone else have a baby with colic? This is tough😖

Raindancer411 · 11/06/2020 05:41

@helpasisterout Yes my little girl is showing signs of it

CharlieB93 · 11/06/2020 06:55

@helpasisterout yes my little girl is showing signs too 😩

Is anyone else’s baby super noisy at bedtime? She’s fast asleep but grunting /groaning / squeaking and lots of stretching... me and my OH can’t sleep as she’s so loud. I’m just wondering if this is normal.

woollycat · 11/06/2020 06:58

@helpasisterout @Raindancer411 @CharlieB93 girls what kind of signs are they showing? Our little one has some unsettled evenings, wondering what signs to look oiut for.

helpasisterout · 11/06/2020 08:13

@woollycat @CharlieB93 @Raindancer411 screams when on his back and goes really red and the cries sound very straining, also tummy looks a bit bloated and hard.

Seeing a midwife this morning who gave me some exercises to do (cycling legs/rubbing tummy/warm bath) which haven't seemed to release the trapped wind so maybe get some Infacol today!

Such a shame because he's been feeding/nappying really well and sleeping reasonable too but the poor soul looks sooo uncomfortable 🙁

Raindancer411 · 11/06/2020 08:33

Wren just won't settle and goes red in the face and cries. She also has reflux but we haven't resorted to infacol yet. Asda didn't have any in our delivery.

CharlieB93 · 11/06/2020 08:46

The only thing I’ve found to stop the wind pain that works is ‘tiger in a tree’ hold - it’s hard to get the hang of it but it’s a godsend!

May2311 · 11/06/2020 09:06

@charlieb93 yes! Mine grunts/wiggles loads in second part of the night she is coming up 6 weeks now some nights are better than others but from what I've read this will ease as time goes on. I sleep a lot better now ( I block it out) when she first started doing it both me and hubby kept jumping awake to check on her lol! X

CharlieB93 · 11/06/2020 09:12

@May2311 so strange!! Mine is exactly same - first part of the night quiet as a mouse then second part she’s constantly on the go 😂😂 I never knew something so small could be so noisy!

AlmostAlwyn · 11/06/2020 11:50

Newborn grunting is definitely normal! It'll settle down soon, don't worry Smile

Also, mentioning colic, I read that Infacol isn't actually any more effective than a placebo, and they base their "clinically proven" claim on a study of 26 infants from 1988 Hmm. This study compares simethicone (the main ingredient in Infacol) with a probiotic, and found the probiotic much more effective.

Emmacb82 · 11/06/2020 15:57

How’s everyone’s feeding going? Noah is 6 weeks today and was hoping that breastfeeding would have got a little bit easier by now! But he’s fed constantly since 6 this morning and just had to give in and give a bottle as I’m sore and can’t give anymore! Perhaps it’s a growth spurt but it’s broken me today and so hard to do anything with my other boy all the time I’m stuck feeding. Sometimes I really love breastfeeding and other times I really hate it!

woollycat · 11/06/2020 17:39

Is it normal to have a bit of yellow / brown crust on the belly button after the umbilical cord falls off? Not sure how to describe it really.

november90 · 11/06/2020 17:54

@Emmacb82 oh bless you! It can be so hard can't it! I seem to think they do typically have a growth spurt around 6 weeks... I could be wrong! Hang on in there... one day it will just suddenly get easier! Your milk changes at around 6 weeks too and should start to fill them up more (apparently!) so hopefully the cluster feeding should calm down!
I totally support giving a bottle when you need to! You're not in it alone so take help when and how you can ❤️
