Still waiting for my little man to arrive but starting a thread ready. Can't wait to catch up with all the other May 20 mums.

Huge congratulations to those who have already met their little ones. It's been quite a scary time to face giving birth recently and you've all done amazingly.

@woollycat without seeing it, I would say it sounds quite normal. I'd be worried if there was any pus or it was red and swollen.

@Emmacb82 it can be quite intense at the beginning, can't it! The growth spurts (or the increased feeding in advance of them) are so tough! Hang in there, you're doing a great job! Cake

May2311 · 12/06/2020 08:13

@november90 how's your little man doing? Has his rash eased? X

Delbelleber · 12/06/2020 08:40

My little one has the new born spots now. All over his face and neck and chest.

november90 · 12/06/2020 09:10

He's doing SO much bette thank you @May2311 . It continued to get worse and worse until all of a sudden it didn't! I changed my washing powder to non bio (should've done this to start with, kicking myself, didn't think!!) and stared using oilatum moisturiser for juniors and aveeno non scented baby bath and it's almost cleared up! I got Marley's discharge letter through the post and his condition has a really long name, but it's reassuring to see that it does have a name of that makes sense! It really was SO traumatic though. I think the cream is what turned it around. I know they normal don't advise product on baby's under a month old, but the consultant advised I use it to help the inflammation and act as a barrier cream!

Oh bless you @Delbelleber I really hope it's not as bad as my little boy had :( what are the spots like? I can share a picture of my sons if you want to see if it's the same thing?

So after some advise! M gets horrific wind! His trumps are like adults, it's quite funny actually! But he is very grumpy before a big trump or burp! What can I do to help this? No reflux or anything like that. I just think he gets a lot of wind bless him!

Raindancer411 · 12/06/2020 12:37

My little girl is getting baby acne on her face, bless her. She is only 2 weeks and 4 days old.

Delbelleber · 12/06/2020 15:01

@november90 this is the spots on his cheek. It seems worse today than it has been the past few days.

May2311 · 12/06/2020 16:26

@November90 awww so glad it has got better!! I really felt for you both when you shared that pic. Hopefully he is over it now.

november90 · 12/06/2020 18:04

Oh bless her @Delbelleber ! Those spots look so familiar to me, and ours started at 2 weeks too! Apparently it's SO common and it'll probably get worse before it gets better!
The oilatum junior moisturiser really did work wonders for us, and that's what the consultant told us to us and he put it on our discharge letter!

@Raindancer411 are your little ones spots similar too?

@May2311 oh bless you, thank you! I can't even believe it looking back on the photos now!

Delbelleber · 12/06/2020 18:45

I had a letter today from hospital. My baby is to get a hip scan. It's the first I've heard of it. The scan is on the 24th of this month so he'll be approx 7 weeks.
Anyone else had this?

Rebecca612 · 13/06/2020 00:29

@Delbelleber my LO has a scan because she was breech and csection so they just check that their hips were unaffected at birth. I was told 90% of the babies are fine though

Nicknamegoeshere · 13/06/2020 02:02

Hi all
Finally got round to updating...
My third baby (fiancé's first) was born at home on 26th May 2020, 7 lbs 5 oz, 39+4.
Wish I'd have had all of my babies at home now - the whole experience was so empowering!! My fiancé helped to deliver her calmly on our bedroom floor under the watchful eye of our two independent midwives.I am so proud of him!
I was a bit worried about starting all over again as my boys are 10 and almost 13, but you never really forget what to do with a newborn (luckily!)
I'm an AP (Attachment Parent) so bed sharing which is working really well for us all and sleeping is good. She wakes to feed on and off with no issues so - touch wood - all going smoothly.
Hope you are all keeping safe and well x

Raindancer411 · 13/06/2020 09:26

@november90 Yes her spots are the same. Just hoping they don't get to bad. Thinking about it I am sure my first had the same.

Anyone else feeling down about their post preg body? I still look pregnant but I guess it's only coming up to 3 weeks since birth, so still early days. I cannot remember how long or how flabby my belly was after the birth of my first.

november90 · 13/06/2020 13:03

@Nicknamegoeshere wow that sounds amazing! Congratulations on your lovely little lady ❤️ how have you been getting?

@Raindancer411 I'm the same. I thought I'd be smashing the diet bu now but I just can't stick to anything. I think the lockdowns making it so difficult because I normally love eating healthy and have no problems getting into it :(
Not that o want to attract anyone new right now, but being a single mum and not having someone you love tell you you look ok seems to be making it so much harder for me aswell :( I hate my tummy, my arms and I absolutely hate my thighs! I only need to loose 1.5 stone as I've lost 7 pounds so far but I just can't get my head in the game!

May2311 · 14/06/2020 09:08

I've been really lucky on the weight loss front- as soon as I had her I was less than I was before I was pregnant!! My issue now though is I feel not toned whatsoever- I have a little tyre also so hoping to get rid of that ASAP. Ada is 6 weeks today I can't believe it! Hubby is back at work tomorrow so my plan is to start tomorrow with doing more exercise ( aka walks etc) I also have a few stretch marks which I'm desperate to disappear- I was so good at putting my oil on but I think it was because my bump was all at the front. Xx

Caspianberg · 14/06/2020 09:32

Been fairly lucky weight wise also. Started at 50kg, gained 20kg to 70kg! Am now back to 56kg, assume the extra is larger boobs! Have escaped stretch marks also (so far). He is now 6 weeks old.

Waiting for my check up with doctor in 2 weeks, before I start any other exercise. Have only been doing short local walks so far, and def have stomach muscle seperation so need to do something for those also, as i think thats causing back ache as the day goes on.

We had just one wake up last night for the first time! 9.30pm-3am, 3-4am feeding and nappy, then 4am-7.30am. Dh and I feel like new people.

Baby acne still a little here, but its been disappearing then coming back a little on and off.

Raindancer411 · 14/06/2020 11:11

I have to admit I haven't weighed myself yet. May have to take the plunge

Emmacb82 · 14/06/2020 15:50

I haven’t weighed myself either but I could fit into my pre pregnancy jeans a week after I had Noah which is very different to my first baby. And they are high waisted so I can stuff my saggy belly in them 🤣
Noah is still a milk monster but the last 2 days he’s been a bit more settled. Feeding every 2 hours pretty much day and night. Luckily he does settle in between feeds at night but he’s stuck to me in the day!

MrsWhy · 14/06/2020 16:36

Hi ladies
Just checking in, had my "May" baby on the 11/06 only 2 weeks + 2 late. Born at 19:05 by emergency c section after three days of induction with 4cm dilation and little man (8lbs 11) wanting to come out arm (superman) and face first.
But oh my he is so worth it!! 💕

woollycat · 14/06/2020 20:40

Doing pretty well in terms of weight here - I was 70kg pre pregnancy, then went to 78kg at the end, and now I am 67kg! 😀🤷🏻‍♀️ and my body shape is back too!

Question about sleep - @Caspianberg I was told I should wake her every 4 hours to feed - I see you are saying your baby slept for much longer. Is this because your baby is older now? When can we stop waking her for feeds?

Raindancer411 · 15/06/2020 07:54

I am even too scared to try my prepreg jeans on as i know they probably won't fit by the look of my belly 😂

Trouble is my other half keeps eating and when he offers me, I am finding it hard to say no. I think BFing makes me more hungry.

We had a trip in an ambulance at the weekend after I called for some advice to 111 about her breathing being a bit faster and not wanting to feed. All ok and Doc gave her some nasal drops that have made a big difference.

goosious · 15/06/2020 08:01

Morning everyone, hope you're all good!

Am after a bit of sleep advice, my DD is 3 weeks old and generally sleeps well in the night waking a few times for feeding but the past two nights have been horrendous! (I think she knows my partners gone away so is testing my ability to survive on no sleep Confused) I think she is crazy overtired but just won't settle and each time I've finally got her to sleep and put her down she wakes within five minutes, eventually I had to prop myself up in bed and have her on my chest so we could both get a little sleep :(

Have any of you been through this and got any advice on how to get back on track? Should I let her sleep as much as she likes today to catch up? I think she got about three hours sleep total in the last 12 hours...

Thanks from a very tired mama!

Caspianberg · 15/06/2020 08:09

@woollycat - we were told no need to wake them once they had regained birth weight, and if they are then generally feeding and gaining weight well. My 8lb8 baby, is now over 11lb so gaining fine.

He usually does one 4-6 stretch first overnight, then smaller gap afterwards ie last night did 10- 3am, 30min feed, then 3.30am-5am, 10 min feed, then 5.15 -7am. So a 5hr stretch, 90min, then almost 2hrs.
Daytime he still feeds every 90mins on average. I wake him to feed daytime if 3hrs have gone.
If we can get him to do what he did the night before with just one feed every night around 3am that would be amazing (one off so far!)

I think 4hrs wakings would be needed overnight still maybe if they are going 3-4hrs between feeds daytime also.

Caspianberg · 15/06/2020 08:13

@goosious - we had a couple of similar days and nights a few weeks back. I just let him feed and sleep on demand the following day or night and he seemed to just settle back himself. Midwife said they have a growth spurt around 3 weeks so often just need more feeds or more naps. If they settle today to nap in pram, basket or bouncer next to the sofa, try and rest yourself

Caspianberg · 15/06/2020 08:21

@MrsWhy - we has the same little grey sleepsuit. He has already outgrown it!

goosious · 15/06/2020 08:32

@Caspianberg thanks, it's good to hear other people have gone through it and come out the other side! Luckily my partner is back today so am looking forward to him holding her so I can get a bit of rest Smile she seems to wake wherever I put her unless she's on me or attached in a carrier at the moment
