When my friend was in hospital having her baby recently, the girl in the next bed had just had her DC2 - and already had a baby of 9.5 months... Makes me shudder just to think of it .

dal21 · 19/12/2007 11:41

kink - dare i say it, we are thinking about when we would have another one. Not in a rush I have to say and I want to enjoy Ryan but maybe in 6 months, we may start trying again. part of me thinks we know we want a little brother or sister for Ryan and getting dirty nappies etc. out of the way sooner rather than later may be a better idea.

makes me laugh as I nearly forgot to pack protection for our few days away and DH said unless we wanted another baby in Sept - we'd better. Have to say, I was a little bit tempted.

Hi all, there's 14 months between my DD's. Definitely not thinking about having anymore for the moment. Just looking forward to a very noisy Christmas!

ah fio. i just sent DH a text telling him i was tempted to have a go for no. 2 and he was well up for it!! may need to not rely on him when we have had a few over christmas to give into temptation.

i am vain - so will hold the thought of nearly back into my skinny jeans in the front of my mind....am NOT missing the stretchy maternity pair of jeans!

Lucy is our 2nd babe, noth were planned and I had always said that I wanted 2 children about 2 years apart so it's all gone as planned but am slightly regretting it as now DD1 is going through the terrible 2's , so I'd suggest, to those that are planning another, that it maybe better to get it done sooner rather than later! (Although I'm not suggesting that the girl in hospital was so clever only waiting about 2/3 weeks before getting back to it lol, just to think DH and I still haven't done it but that's just down to personal expieriences/choice)

But, all in all, I'm glad for 2 girlies, they're both adorable and I'm sure DD1 will snap out of this phase she's going through soon (Finger's crossed!!!)

Hello everyone

I had a text from PLP

Cerys has had her examination to confirm that the op was successful, yay! She now has to rest and the next op will be in feb. Happy Christmas all! xxx

Chattyhan · 19/12/2007 17:03

Hope everyone is doing ok and looking forward to christmas! All very hectic here! After ds1's 3rd birthday it has been non stop! Alex is having a growth spurt and feeding every 2-3 hrs through the night which is hard having been used to 5-6 hrs! He's also been having unexplained screaming fits a couple of times a day. Today we were in mothercare and he wouldn't stop screamimg and it was like a pain cry. I thought he may be hot so i stripped him off and his feet were bright red. I tried feeding but he wasn't interested and eventually calmed down he wasn't happy to lie in the pram so i ended up carrying him round the shop then wrapped him up to go outside and put him back in the pram and he went to sleep haven't got a clue what that was about!

We're off to devon tomorrow for christmas with my family DP will be joining us on christmas morning and then i'm spending new year in trowbridge with MIL so i won't be around for a bit. I'm not packed, i've got to wrap pressies and sort out alex's clothes as he's just going into 3-6 months stuff! So what i'm doing chatting i don't know

Love to you all and enjoy your christmas and new year

EdieMcredie · 19/12/2007 19:40

Chattyhan-Millie had a similar episode (in Mothercare also) the other day!!

Just a quick question-What is the longest a LO can go withot having a dirty nappy? Millie has been all day without one-should I worry?

MrsBumblebee · 19/12/2007 19:58

Nah, she'll be absolutely fine. Paul generally does two a day, but he once went 6 days without one . One of my NCT friend's daughters is regular as clockwork, but only goes once every three days.

EdieMcredie · 19/12/2007 20:15

Gosh! That's reassured me, thanks xx

itsTwiiiiiiiiiiitmaaaaaaasss · 19/12/2007 20:24

fio that's exactly how I felt last january, I was absolutetly gutted I remember being in a panic and crying [not normal for me] down the phone to dh. It was like here we go again, just as I was getting MY life back... [and I thought [fleetingly] about not having babytwit, but now, I couldn't be without him].

For me the gap between ds2 and dd [4 1/2 years] was great because it meant I got one to one time with dd in a way that ds2 never did [2 1/2 years between him and ds1] and obviously babytwit won't get it either. But in a way if it was going to happen, no4 was better off coming now than in a year or two later.

MrsMar · 19/12/2007 21:47

Hi everybody!! We've got a lovely shiney new laptop with all the keys intact so it's a flipping pleasure typing this now (not that it's not a flipping pleasure conversing with you lot anyway!!

Luca was weighed this morning, the last time for a few weeks. I've decided the christmas break is the perfect time to break my habit of having him weighed every 2 weeks! His weight gain is so stable now i think I can finally stop worrying. Today he was 12lbs11oz which is a whole pound gained in two weeks. It looks like the growth line he's going to follow is just below the 25th centile, but he's been like that for a few weeks, so his growth pattern is just luvely jubbley!! He's still not doing more than four hours between feeds in the daytime though, more often it's three hours, and at night it's only 5 hours. It means I still only have to get up once a night, but it would be nice to have more than four hours kip at a time. The hv said he probably wouldn't do that until he's about 5 months old. Damn and blast! I thought I'd get a few more decent nights' sleep before I go back to work!

wow hammerhead, I thought my dh was a deep sleeper, but that takes some beating. I hope you managed to get some sleep last night. I think Luca has taken a couple of steps back on the sleeping front too. I hope things settle down soon for you.

Kinki - glad to hear liam's getting better. It's such a shame they have to have all these jabs cos I know Luca really suffered after the last lot. I even had to get the calpol out which I didn't have to with the first set. It's bad enough having all these colds, but self inflicted fevers are worse!

Dal - I like the stokke chair too, looks like a real bit of furniture rather than some grim giant plastic thing from China! I was at the health visitors today and I overheard one of the hvs saying to a woman who's little girl is 6 weeks older than luca that she'd have to start giving her some solids over christmas cos her baby was so hungry. I was exactly the same, thinking ooooh I can't wait until he's not totally reliant on me. But of course I know I'll be really weepy too. Pathetic aren't I? Oh and I know that Dec 28th is my anniversary... going to have a celebratory roll in the hay!!!

Secretly I've started thinking that in the summer we'll start trying for number 2. Dh has agreed to number 2, just doesn't know the timescale hehehehe!! I quite fancy the idea of having a baby around the Feb/March '09 time so that I'm off for the summer '09. Not going to do another summer in late pregnancy again!

Righty, I'm off to wrap the last of my pressies and maybe have another mince pie

Cheerio x

kelmcmistletoe · 20/12/2007 14:05

HI all
Well, seems like from reading thread Arben aint the onlt one to have regressed on his sleeping!! He is still waking in the night at about 2-3am but then he is going down after 15mins!
I have decided to cut back on the breast feeding. Was finding his fussing and screaming very stressful and have found he now enjoys his booby time more I feed him during the night, first thing and 2nd to last feed at night, it sweird how my milk supply has adjusted so quickly!
Hope you are all ready for xmas and are as excited as i am about spending my xmas with Arben, i cant wait

kelmcmistletoe · 20/12/2007 14:06

Oh and i added his xmas piccie

kyala · 20/12/2007 16:02

WOW! Kelmc, Arben looks massive!! Either taht or you've put him in a tiny chair and got a close up lol

Lucy's getting bigger though I'm still able to carry her in the sling for a while at a time so I don't have to deal with the trial of getting the double pushchair on the bus yet

DD1 is going through one heck of a hellish time at the moment, she's got to the point now where if she doesn't get what she wants (even if it's something that doesn't make any sense to the rest of the world) she screams until she's on the verge of losing her voice (which, tbh, would be very much welcome!!) We've tried everything and nothing works (especially if we're in town doing the last jot of xmas shopping ) we just got home and put her in her cot, it was just too much having her scream her way round town and all the way home simply because I would not keep continuous eye contact with her (pretty difficult if I'm trying to see where I'm going lol) she can be so unreasonable sometimes (that's my girl )

Anywho, xmas shopping all out of the way (considering DH started off saying we couldn't afford it this year and on top of the HB crisis we're (still) having, we've done pretty well lol mostly it's been done very much on the cheap but who cares eh?!)

Can't wait for Saturday, my little bro's are coming round for dinner and I haven't seen them for a couple of months now (one of them only lives literally down the road, he's a lazy tyke!) and it'll be nice to make our Yule dinner extra special with them being here!

Anywho, we've got some wrapping to do, and a reindeer outfit to finish so have a good one you lot (I'm not sure if I'm going to have much time to catch up before NY now so best wishes for the next week or so, hope you all have a lovely time with the LO's!)

MrsFish · 20/12/2007 18:58

Hello all, everyone ready for christmas yet?

I have my xmas shop being delivered tomorrow midday, considering I haven't gone mad on goodies, and we are off to the in-laws for xmas dinner its double what I normally spend in a week

I've done some last minute present buying this afternoon... more for ds1, I know I shouldn't have as he is getting so much this year, but I couldn't resist and I have finally finished wrapping everything [hoorah]

Took Ben to see HV today, poor thing has really bad skin especially on his arms and face. It was just dry skin but it is now red and inflamed. I am on my third lot of cream for it now as previous ones just haven't helped at all Had him weighed too, he is a whopping 15 pound 6 ounces and he is 11 weeks old tomorrow. He has also done 5 nights in a row of 12 hours

Have added a new photo of him too

kyala · 20/12/2007 21:51

WOW! MrsFish hasn't he changed so much in only 4 weeks!!
I don't think Lucy has changed that much in such a short time!

MrsMar · 21/12/2007 13:26

Aw, mrsf, ben really looks like his brother. He's a sweetie!

Arben is a big boy isn't he kelmc? I must do a Christmas photo too, it's a really nice idea. Our Christmas tree is a bit pathetic at the moment, we bought one in a bit of a hurry cos Luca decided to go in to melt down the second we got to the garden centre, so i just pointed at the first one so it's a bit lopsided. And now our lights have decided to go and trying to find a replacement set four days before christmas is pretty hard. Currently I have a light net thingy draped over the tree but stylish it aint!

Kyala - I can't remember how old your dd1 is, but my sister was telling me about a theory she'd read in one of her baby books about toddler tantrums (I think it was the Toddler taming book by Christopher Green). It's something to do with the fact that emotional control centres are in the frontal lobes of the brain and they're not fully developed until 3 years old hence the terrible 2s. They have terrible tantrums cos they cannot control their emotions. My niece who's 18 months old only has an on/off switch, happily playing or screaming ab dabs, nothing in between! Ah, something for the rest of us first timers to look forward to!!

I'm off to sort out my laundry now in anticipation of the washing machine repair man coming this afternoon. 6 weeks without a machine has nearly killed me, I've never looked forward to doing some washing so much!!!

take care everyone xxx

MrsMar · 21/12/2007 13:26

oops!

kyala · 21/12/2007 20:07

Thanks MrsM, (DD1 is nearly 2 1/2), that does explain a little about her sudden mood swings, as she sometimes gets a little upset and doesn't quite know why, (which can worry her even more) I'm trying to be patient with her but it's tough (even more so now I know it's possible she can't control it lol)

I've decided probably the best way to deal with it is to start her understanding of the concept of rewarding good behaviour (so she has to be a good girl before her teddies enter her cot, rather than me taking them away when she's naughty) so, the age old "ignoring the bad behaviour, praising the good", we'll see how that goes!

Feeling festive, warm on wine and full of mince pies
xxx

MrsMar · 21/12/2007 21:04

I can imagine how hard it must be. My sister is trying the same thing, ignoring the tantrums, rewarding good behaviour. My niece is a little young for "time out" (putting them in a room where they can't come to any harm while they're having a tantrum - 1 minute per year of life) but perhaps that might work for you. 2 and a half minutes in a room on her own so she can work it out of her system. Get me, trying to sound like an expert... I've watched too many episodes of House of Tiny Tearaways!!!

MrsMar · 21/12/2007 21:06

Oh you've got me all hungry now hmmmmm mince pies.... I'd give my eye teeth for one right now. Just had really dried up fish fingers and chips that have been in the oven for 2 hours cos Luca had a massive fit. in the end I put him in his cot while I put the tumble dryer on and in the few seconds that took he went to sleep. Poor love is so tired and ill, he's croaking like a good 'un! Having a biiiig glass of wine to compensate

MrsFish · 21/12/2007 21:16

I'm enjoying a big glass of wine too. DH has just rolled in from drinks after work, they left at 1.30pm so he has had a good session  he is now feeding Ben
