No he was two days over in the end! We've called him Elijah, he was 7lbs 13oz. We had a wonderful home birth so crawled into our own bed a few hours after having him and DD slept the whole way through!! Just a small graze for me so I'm feeling so much better this time around, it's nice to be able to sit down!!

Dyra · 13/04/2021 19:28

Ha ha! I thought your midwives must've been super on the ball to have discharged you already. Elijah is a gorgeous name. What does your DD think of him so far? Huge congratulations once again.

Geegrl19 · 14/04/2021 01:43

Oh congratulations @drumst1ck. Great news and I hope the both of you are doing well. Look forward to seeing a pic ☺️

Doc didn't prescribe anything for Nate's mouth. Not really much you can do. Could try bongela but considering I have to pin his arms and legs to brush his teeth still I don't think I'd be able to get that to work. I'm hoping he's over the worst and it will ease soon. He does seem brighter this morning but was a rough night again. Lots of cuddles in order I think.

Geegrl19 · 14/04/2021 01:45

Missed the further post @drumst1ck. Love the name, adorable. Glad you're nice and comfortable and hope you're loving the bonding time

drumst1ck · 14/04/2021 06:41

Oh I had forgotten what a killer newborns were. I love him to bits already but all he wanted to do last night from 8pm-3am was feed constantly. My poor boobs. DD so far hasn't been too fussed by him. She likes to come and point out his nose and eyes etc and give him a toy every now and again but mostly I think she's just a bit confused bless her! Trying to make sure she gets some one on one time with us where we can so she doesn't feel too left out.

Littlehouseinthebigcity · 14/04/2021 22:14

@drumst1ck Congratulations! I couldn't get logged into my account 🙈 so have only just seen your news. Hope little one settles down quickly and you get some better nights, newborn plus toddler is a killer! Xxx

Geegrl19 · 23/04/2021 04:52

How's it going @drumst1ck? Hope you're getting some sleep where possible.

Nate is better now thank goodness. What a fun week that wasn't. Has been rather pleasant being at work this week instead.

Dyra · 23/04/2021 14:00

Glad Nate is ok. Hand, Foot and Mouth sounds terrible. Did you need to use bonjela or anything in the end?

I get what you mean that it's nice to be at work. Alice was sent home from nursery last Friday afternoon with lethargy and a fever on top of her (seemingly perpetual) runny nose and cough. They wouldn't have her back until she'd been ok'ed by a doctor and a negative Covid test. Test was negative, and a course of antibiotics given. The fever and lethargy are gone, yet the snot and cough remain. Ah well.

I have anosmia now (Covid negative). Good for not smelling nappies. Bad for knowing if a nappy needs changing.

Geegrl19 · 26/04/2021 08:13

@dyra No, I didn't use anything in the end. Is a nightmare getting in his mouth.

This week I'm dealing with 💩 he vommed in his cot on Friday night and has a bit of the runs since 🤦‍♀️ seriously WTF. I'm praying tomorrow it's slowed down. Pray for me!

Geegrl19 · 26/04/2021 14:04

Sorry, how is Alice now too @dyra I hope she's brightened up and back at nursery.

I could do with some of not smelling for a bit 😉

Dyra · 26/04/2021 16:42

Oh poor Nate. Poor you! I hope his tummy troubles clear up rapidly. Did he get to go to nursery today? I could give you what I have..... But be warned! Whatever caused the anosmia comes with a very sore throat and a nasty cough. Come near me at your own peril!

Alice is much better ty. Still has her runny nose and occasional cough. She's broken out with a rash now. No idea what it is, other than it's probably viral. Maybe fifth disease. Maybe just teething. No fever, itching, or anything else fortunately, so nursery have let her go back.

Hope everyone is doing well!

How's being a mum of two going @drumst1ck?

drumst1ck · 26/04/2021 19:24

Hope all the illness goes away soon! Have plenty of coffee and chocolate to get you through.

Had my first full day with both kids today as DH has started back at work. Pretty successful, no major incidents but I'm shattered now! DS has been quite fussy the last couple of nights so I've been having my main chunk of sleep during the day when they both nap. Don't know what I'll do when DD eventually drops her nap!

Hope everyone else is doing okay!

Geegrl19 · 26/04/2021 23:56

Aww. Glad it's going well @drumst1ck. Take whatever sleep you can get when you can for however long, lol. I'm sure you'll soon find your groove. Time flies too, as we all know.

Oh no @Dyra. I won't take the sore throat part. Sounds nasty and hope you're in the mend. Glad Alice back to nursery. Where on earth do all these germs come from and some of the grotty kids illnesses are just gross aren't they.

I'm having my seasonal flu shot today. Got dd1 booked for a couple of weeks time but need to sort the other two and get a script from the docs for it and then book them in. Too much organising!

Do we need to start a other thread too as this one may be near the end?

Dyra · 27/04/2021 21:39

There's 36... Well 35 posts after this one before it's full. Few more days before we need a new thread at least.

Glad it's going ok @drumst1ck The first day flying solo sounds like it's always daunting. I'm sure it will only get easier. Especially as rules relax and more baby groups reopen.

I hope no-one gets whatever the hell I've got. I was ok(ish) at work, but on the way home I just could not stop coughing. The other passengers on the bus must've thought I was expiring/super spreading. I couldn't stop coughing even after I got home and tried every remedy I could think of. Hours later it finally stopped and I got some sleep. I've felt so rotten today I haven't even attempted more than just basic parenting. In her review, Alice gave me one out of three poops in the bath (the other two were on the bathroom floor while I was cleaning up the first one....).

Huzzah for getting your flu shot @Geegrl19! That's another disease we could all do without!

Geegrl19 · 28/04/2021 11:53

Oh no, three bathroom poos, that's a good effort, lol. Not funny though cleaning it up when you feel so rotten. Coughs are just so horrible, that annoying tickle that never gives up and then wakes you in the night feeling like your going to choke to death. I hope it eases soon. I can imagine the people on the bus tried to stay well clear!

Dyra · 28/04/2021 13:21

I was deeply impressed truth be told. Her chubby tummy was noticeably a lot less chubby by the time she was finished.

Feeling much less rotten today. Fx it continues getting better. Still haven't attempted patenting yet, but I'm going to make a dent in the house work while Alive is napping. Take her out for a walk later too.

Geegrl19 · 15/05/2021 11:34

Hey, how's everyone going? How's bubba @drumst1ck? Still going smoothly I hope

Not much to report here. Our weather has turned cold, not coping well. Can't say I'm sad that tennis for the girls was called off this morning. Chasing Nate around for two hours non stop is exhausting! We went to the shops instead, much more civilised!

Dyra · 15/05/2021 11:45

It's cold here too @Geegrl19. I swear we were having a heatwave this time last year. It's nearly summer ffs, and barely getting into double figures during the day. Beyond that nothing interesting here either.

Hope everything is going well with you as well @drumst1ck.

Who's the next expecting a new arrival? THATbasicrebelBITCH?

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 17/05/2021 10:08

I am currently 33+1! Spd has ramped up and is kicking my arse. The little one is full of a cold and school run induces fanny daggers. I would quite like to take a 6 week nap and wake up ready to give birth Grin

drumst1ck · 21/05/2021 11:14

Hi all!

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE sorry about the spd, it's rough!!

We're doing okay here, DS is a good baby and giving me way more sleep than his big sister did at this age! He's a doddle to look after compared to her....

Having major tantrums now with DD. Every day pretty much, hitting, slapping, crying for sometimes half an hour. Nothing seems to calm her and even just looking at her sometimes sets it off again. It's exhausting and I don't seem to have any consistent way of dealing with it that works.

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 21/05/2021 11:31

@drumst1ck sometimes the best thing is to just leave them to it as long as they aren't going to get hurt! I always try not to give tantrums attension.

drumst1ck · 21/05/2021 11:45

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE we have tried ignoring and it inevitably leads to her doing something that will hurt herself like running to try and pull the stair gate off to get up to her dad or hitting her head on furniture. I have put her in her cot a few times so she's safe but with struggles for nap time already I don't want to associate her bed with being naughty. She's also trying to climb out now so it won't be long before it's not a safe space anymore. It just all feels a bit too much at the moment!

Geegrl19 · 22/05/2021 03:40

Oh no @drumst1ck sounds a handful. Nate is loving a tantrum now too but nothing too lengthy yet! I suppose the only thing is to try to be consistent and ignore but step in if she'll hurt herself. Easier said than done though I know. They're certainty wilful.

How's everyones speech going too. Nate still not really saying much which is frustrating as he just stands crying at me. I'm not too concerned as he understands everything and meets all milestones but it sure is testing. Neither of his sisters were early talkers, perhaps I'm being impatient (me? Never!!).

Have a good weekend everyone. Is lovely and sunny here today.

Dyra · 22/05/2021 09:24

Such big emotions for little people, but they certainly pick their times to show them. Anything in particular triggering them? Or just a bid for attention now it looks like her baby brother is here to stay.

Speech is ok. I think. A few words. Daddy, bubble, shoe, ball, duck, bird the main ones. Where daddy? (Not sure she knows they're two separate words) A few animal noises. Otherwise plenty of babbling. I have zero idea how many words Alice should have. I think she's meeting other milestones ok. Not really checking any more.

Dyra · 22/05/2021 09:25

Very envious of your weather. It's cold, wet and windy still. It's summer in a week and a half! No sign of it yet.
