Hi all, would love to join in if possible? I’ve a wee boy born 1st sept 2019. I think I’ve met some of you aaages ago on the pregnancy boards but I was a bit rubbish at keeping up with it all! Hope you are all ok & surviving lockdown! I’m struggling with finding ways for E to run off his excess energy at the minute. Finding myself craving parks and even dreaded soft play! Xx

Dyra · 17/01/2021 14:57

@Spongeb0b Welcome back! I think surviving lockdown is the best way of describing it. I think I'm quite lucky though. Alice doesn't seem to be an endless font of toddler energy (yet).

As for the food thing, I think they must have particular meals they turn into bottomless pits. Alice's is lunchtime. Occasionally dinner time if we're having something she especially likes.

Question for everyone. Has anyone taken their LO to a dentist yet? Alice didn't have any teeth pre-first lockdown, and it occurred to me late last night (teeth 8 through 10, possibly 11 are coming through) that I haven't even registered her with one yet.

drumst1ck · 17/01/2021 15:07

@Dyra I was actually at the dentist the other day and asked this. They recommend they see them once they have teeth to start getting them used to it and checking they are coming through okay however she said obviously with the pandemic there's tons who haven't been and that's fine. I got DD registered and booked in to come with me at my next appointment in August.

db92 · 17/01/2021 15:20

We were meant to have dentist in December but it's been cancelled to be rescheduled hopefully April time. I got abit told off on the phone for. It booking him in back in the beginning of 2020 when his first tooth cut but I didn't realise that's what I needed to do?

Finding the same with the endless energy! Days we've been out and running around definitely show that night!

Spongeb0b · 18/01/2021 21:13

Thanks @Dyra Smile

I tried to register E at the dentist and had his 1st appt In March at 6 months but lockdown 1.0 happened and they are only dealing with emergencies now they’ve said. That and Invisalign apparently! Confused

Geegrl19 · 18/01/2021 22:03

I can barely get a toothbrush in Nate's mouth, let alone get him to open up for the dentist!

I literally have to pin his arms and force my way in. Not ideal. Even if I give him the brush himself he doesn't put it in. Fun times, but we keep trying!

drumst1ck · 19/01/2021 16:39

@Geegrl19 we're the same don't worry! I mentioned that to the dentist as I always feel horrendous at having to pin her down while she screams and she said her kid was exactly the same until about 2 then one day just gave up resisting and let's them do it now! Only a year to go 😂

Spongeb0b · 19/01/2021 19:39

Speaking of pinning kids down Grin 😬 E has been prescribed an inhaler to try - can I heck get it anywhere near his face! Any tips for getting a 16 month year old to use an inhaler?? Confused we’ve covered it in stickers and pretended it’s a trumpet so far but all he wants to do is give it to us to play Grin

Dyra · 19/01/2021 21:21

Up until recently, Alice would let me clean her teeth.... Now I'm in the pinning down club as well. Sad Pesky babies. Thank goodness these teeth only have to last a few years.

Not much in the way of advice regarding inhalers I'm afraid. I gave Alice the pieces to play with, and showed her how they went on my face and then hers. But nope. Very squirmy any time I try to use it on her. So I just pin and puff her. Poor E. Does he have a perpetual cough as well?

db92 · 20/01/2021 18:53

I've honestly given up trying to brush E's myself. Probably should persist but like you guys I can't bare the pinning down. He'll happily take his tooth brush with paste on and wiggle it around his mouth giving it a good go so I'm hoping that's okay for now

Geegrl19 · 21/01/2021 10:38

Reassuring (I won't say glad!) I'm not on my own on the brushing front. Feel for the ones trying to put an inhaler on their little ones faces.

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 21/01/2021 10:45

Bloody hell its taken me ages to find this thread. My brain is mush. (Decaf incase you have forgotten)

Dyra · 21/01/2021 14:44

Welcome back @THATbasicSNOWFLAKE. How's your brood? Congratulations btw.

Megan2018 · 22/01/2021 16:36

Hello everyone! Sorry I’ve been crap at remembering this thread. I will try and catch up.
Felicity finally walking and we’re in the midst of trying to get her some shoes, sitting room looks like a shoe shop as had to order a million pairs Grin
Will post again when caught up a bit Smile

Geegrl19 · 22/01/2021 22:02

Hi everyone who has found the thread again 😁.

Winder how @Horehound is doing?

Dyra · 22/01/2021 22:14

Welcome back @Megan2018! Hooray for Felicity walking! How's your horse? Has Felicity had a ride yet? I love tiny shoes. You've just reminded me I should probably get Alice a new pair. Her first pair was bought when she was still predominantly crawling, so don't have very sturdy soles. Now she walks, toddles, runs and falls over everywhere. Where did my tiny baby go?.... 😭

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 23/01/2021 07:18

Thanks for the welcome back!

And for the congratulations dyra! I assume you have seen me posting elsewhere! The brood are fine but I am soooo over homeschool!

drumst1ck · 23/01/2021 09:05

Another one on the way @THATbasicSNOWFLAKE? Congrats!!

We have one seriously grumpy baby this morning. She's normally great in the mornings but today has definitely woken up on the wrong side of the cot...I'm blaming the inscisors coming through 😭

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 23/01/2021 17:34

Thanks @drumst1ck, almost 17 weeks now!

Is anyone else currently expecting?

drumst1ck · 23/01/2021 17:56

Aw lovely! How have you been feeling? I'm due April, 29 weeks now. Starting to get my waddle on this week 😅

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 23/01/2021 17:59

Behave i already have a waddle! (Hello spd)

drumst1ck · 23/01/2021 18:03

Oh noooo. That sucks. I get the odd bout of sciatica and that's bad enough so hats off for managing that and more kids! Currently on my next bout of recurring thrush however (sorry tmi) which is doing my tits in!

Geegrl19 · 24/01/2021 00:14

Congratulations @THATbasicSNOWFLAKE

@drumst1ck I have a super sensitive one at the moment too. Those nasty big molars. They're massive. These have come through before the incisors so a bit out of whack here. He was awake in the night squealing like a little piggy poor thing and the slightest thing has him crying like it's the end of the world

db92 · 24/01/2021 06:31

Congrats @THATbasicSNOWFLAKE Grin

New shoes needed for E too. I ordered one of theirs foot gauges online because his last shoes feel abit tight but I'm not totally sure it's accurate so have no idea what size to order.

Sorry to hear of the sensitive grump babies! Another one in the club here. Feels like he's been none stop teething for months now.

Spongeb0b · 24/01/2021 10:08

Bahh had a lovely big reply typed out yesterday and phone died. Congrats @THATbasicSNOWFLAKE ! Gosh I hadn’t even thought about when E’s shoes get too tight! Surely that’s an essential service that we could do with having open right now Shock I’m buying all the kids clothes from next and it’s costing me a flipping fortune - the odd bit from supermarkets when it’s not too busy. @Dyra you asked about E’s inhaler - he’s had a cough since he started nursery in October! He’s had two courses of antibiotics, a chest X-ray, many many negative Covid tests so now they are suspecting asthma. I’ve tried everything I can think of to persuade him to use it but to no avail. So tricky to reason with a 16 month old as to why he needs a little mask over his face several time’s per day bless him. X
